The entertainment onboard the Epic is the BEST at sea!! Production shows, musician, and variety of entertainment are all amazing!!! The staff is also wonderful... very attentive, helpful and friendly. The ship's layout is very poor. There is no mid-ship elevator... and either end elevator is missing at least one floor, meaning you frequently have to walk from one end of the ship to the other to take the elevator to your destination. For anyone with any difficulty walking the 1000+ feet length of the ship (as is the case with my mom), this ship is VERY difficult to navigate. Embarkment: Port Canaveral doesn't have any wheelchairs available until you've already gone through security (read: long line standing and waiting), and walked the length of the entire terminal and gone through your registration process... THEN you can get a wheelchair to board. Food: The only specialty restaurant we dinned at was Shanghai's... the service was great, the food was marginal at best. The buffet was loud, crowded, and food was average to poor. BUT... we ate MANY means in The Manhattan Club and O'Sheenahan's. Service in both of these restaurants was great and the food in Manhattan Club was spectacular!!! Plus they have live music, a dance floor and avery quiet/upscale atmosphere. Taste serves the exact same menu as Manhattan club, but is less formal. Taste is also much louder and we didn't enjoy it as much. The outdoor dinning was impossible to enjoy because there was always so much wind up there. One morning we ate there, and the wind blew the coffee out of the cup!!! Breakfast ANYWHERE on the ship is marginal at best, and basically is over at 9 or 9:30am. There is a large 'gab' mid-day when the only place to dine is O'Sheenahan's (but their food is great). Entertainment: DON'T MISS Burn The Floor!!! It is amazing!! Also the dueling pianos in Howl at the Moon were great!! Priscilla Queen of the Desert was a hoot, with amazing costumes, wigs, music, etc... but it is NOT for those who are easily offended. Cirque Dreams was a wonderful show, but the food was poor. Buy the standard ticket & skip the meal. DO try to take part in the activities in the atrium... game shows, dance lessons, singing contests, etc. At first I thought this was silly and didn't want to go... but once I DID, I wished I'd gone sooner! The staff makes these shows amazing! Plan on attending the "GLOW PARTY"... it is REALLY FUN!!! No matter your age, you'll find it a real trip. Also, this is the first ship I've been on that specifically made accommodations to help single travelers meet fellow passengers. Stateroom: We were in a Family Balcony Mini-suite. The room was quite large and has TONS of storage!! We put everything away and still had several empty cupboards!!! The bathroom wasn't as bad as I thought it might be... BUT our 'shower' was in a tub and it had a VERY high side (much higher than yours at home would). VERY difficult to get in and out of. The balcony was large but the chairs were in poor shape, and one was broke, plus only table there was a tiny little side table... not room to eat there. The hallways are a bit confusing, but what ship isn't? Some other thoughts: Additional charges: THIS was one of the real bug-a-boos on this cruise... I felt like I was being nickle and dimed to death!!!! The beauty of cruising is it's all inclusive... not with Norwegian! Even the "complementary" restaurants have menu items that require an 'up charge'. And of course, there are about half the restaurants that are specialty and require an additional charge. PLUS... if you want a Pepsi (they don't have Coke) anywhere, be prepared to pay! I hate the way they bill the gratuity, daily/per person on the bill. It makes your bill VERY lengthy and it felt like every time I looked at it it was another page long!! Many of the onboard 'activities' required an additional charge, and even the Cirque Dreams show (without the meal) requires an additional charge. AND... although they sell this as 'free style cruising'... you must make a reservation to do anything!!! I understand that with 4000+ people on the ship, but it really removes any option for being spontaneous. Also... there is no central atrium... no mid-ship elevator... and the elevators that are there, are totally enclosed and dark!!! When I saw the first one open, I felt like I was stepping into an elevator in Las Vegas in 1980! Overall the ship's entertainment and staff were AMAZING and in many ways made up for the defects of the ship itself. However I doubt I would take Epic again... the ship was too big and had too many people on board. Read Less

We liked the length of this cruise, ten days, and the convenience of sailing out of Tampa. Our penthouse suite was a treat and provided all the space and handicap equipment we needed. Our butler Henry was a gem, predicting and meeting our every need. The NCL Dawn is a beautiful ship, hardly recognizable after the recent remodeling. We had breakfast room service 9 out of 10 mornings and loved it. The beverage package was well worth the money for us, because dinner drinks and poolside drinks can really add up over 10 days. The shows were crowded, except on Super Bowl night, but they offered a nice variety of music and acts. Harvest Caye was clean and modern, as was the port side market area in Costa Maya. Vendors were a bit aggressive in Ocho Rios, Jamaica. Cozumel has lots to see and do. Grand Cayman is a tender port, so it’s unavailable to wheelchair users. There were four couples in our group, and we all felt the dining rooms did a great job accommodating our group and serving us a variety of fine meals. Read Less

Cruise management very good and advanced. Cleanliness is their priority. All crew members doing their best. Food is fresh and lots of variety. Food and drinks unlimited. I am Indian and I recommend Norwegian cruise management to Hire good Indian Origin Chef / cook on board they can cook all kinds of food on board with taste. Only thing I missing on cruise is original Asian food taste. Cruise have lots of activities for all ages but need to increase more activities for kids between age 6 to 18 like more movies , fun activities , competitions like art , crafts. My kids struggle to find more activities on cruise as they have few on board like painting, cup cake decoration , t-shirt painting but still required more continues activities in evening time like other adults and seniors people like live shows , entertainment But overall very good experience. No doubt I choose Norwegian cruise again next vacation... Read Less

We went on the Epic and unlike most of the other smaller ships this ships layout was bad and no conducive to travel around the ship. The casino allowed smoking which could be smelled in a restaurant and venues. The shops were in the middle of the ship and when a lot of people were shopping it did not allow people to flow by to get from one end to the ship to the other. You had to go thru the shops. On the pool deck when they were performing and people gathering to listen or dance again you could not get around all the people standing there. For a disabled person it was not very good getting around. The staterooms layout was so bad it is hard to explain. The bathroom toilet was in one section and the shower was on the other side. A curtain was provided, and doors to close off. I could not go out in the balcony without waking up my wife. there was no curtain to segregate the room. The Stewart was great along with the boss which helped out a lot. Read Less

Before I start my review I want to let you know how fun the Meet and Greets, Slot Pulls and Cabin Crawls are with Cruise Critic. Our Meet and Greet this time was put on by MIchelle and Chris and they did a fantastic job of organizing that and the Cabin Crawl. My husband and I did the Slot Pull. For our Meet and Greet we were in the District Brew House so there were beer samples and snack samples being passed around. There was music playing and we got to meet the staff and of course the other nice cruisers. What a blast. From there we went right to the Slot Pull and that was a lot of fun. We actually made $3.00 above our bet. Then on Wednesday we had the Cabin Crawl. This was my first time doing a Cabin Crawl and I was really impressed with all the different types of room we saw. These events are a great way to meet other and to learn more about your ship and cruising in general. I really recommend this especially if it is your first cruise. But it is for everyone first cruise or 30th cruise. Great time!! Ok so now here is my review. I purchased this cruise to celebrate my 60th birthday and my cousins 60th birthday. We went with our husbands. I had been on the Escape before and really loved Tortola and St. Thomas and those were two of the ports were were going to see. After the hurricane devastated some of the islands our stops were to Falmouth Jamaica, Grand Cayman, GSC (Great Stirrup Cay) and Nassau Bahamas. I was not as thrilled with these stops but it was looking forward to Grand Cayman and GSC. Embarkation It went smoothly...no issues at all. Got to our room and was disappointed that the room configuration was not what I asked for. I had a spa balcony cabin and after researching I found that there are two configurations of these rooms. One were the couch is closer to the closet (allowing you much more room to get in and out of the closet) and the other with the bed is closer to the closet giving you less room. Because of my disability (I am getting a two level low back fusion in 3 days) I discussed the rooms with the agent and she was able she said to get me my desired room. Well she did not give me the right room. So when I got to my room I called guest services and they said they said they would send in my concern. Later that day received a message on my phone from some man that said there was no record of this. Since I did not speak with him I have no idea if he knew the correct request or not. So either she did not put the notes in or they were telling me I was lying. Very said for a person who likes NCL and has recommended them to many friends and family. So I was really in a lot of pain trying to bend in this small area to get things that I needed. The Muster Drill was a little longer than usual because you have those people who think they can wander in late...then those who wander in even later...and those who do not care at all and come when they feel THEY should show up. So this makes for a longer time. At my cousin's station a lady was screaming that it was taking to long. I think they had to remove her because she was screaming so loudly. So when they give you your time for the drill please be considerate and get there on time. The Escape is beautiful and there is something for everyone. From a pool, childrens area, slides for both kids and adults putt putt, bowling, Spice H2O a place for adults only. So many places to go on this ship. . Then there are many bars and places to dine. I don't drink much if at all but in order for my husband to get the drink package I had to as well. He also doesn't drink much but being with my cousin and her husband he did drink more than usual. The District Beer house was very nice. We all enjoyed everything about it except the waitress. She was the most unfriendliest person on the ship. They have many types of beers and a cozy atmosphere. You can order I believe 4 different items from the menu, like sliders and wings but it will cost you an additional fee. My cousin and her husband ordered a few things the second night not knowing she had to pay. This was her their first time on NCL. So if you are looking for great beers go here. If you want beer and free food go to Sheehans as it complimentary. The Cabin The cabin was nice except for the configuration as I spoke of above. Everything worked fine. There was enough storage and room for both of us. Our steward was great with the animals in the room. Those are always a treat. And he kept everything nice for us. I should have asked him to fix the bed because there was a piece of plastic that went between our beds where they push them together. I could feel this and it was uncomfortable. I should have requested him to fix it and I am sure he would have. Just kept forgetting after I got up. The pillows on the bed were very nice. Make sure if you are in your room and you want to hear the announcements turn your tv on and go to channel 22 and you will be able to hear them in your room. Dining All specialty restaurants we went to were wonderful. We did La Cucina, Cagney's and Tepanyaki. All of us enjoyed our meal. In fact in the Italian they had tbone steak...kinda sad they took out the ribeye. But I was so stuffed after eating the pasta that I told our waiter to skip my steak. My husband got it so I had a few bites of his. I just did not want to waste a steak. So yes there is definitely a lot of food at these restaurants. And the desserts are great except for the Tepanyaki. I do not like either of the two desserts they offer. Green tea cake and fruit sashimi. I wish they would add a few other choices like the other restaurants have. We also went to Taste, Savor and Manhattan Room for dinner as well. All were very good. I love when the strip loin is on the menu and I was so happy I did not have a specialty reservation that night. Oh and really make your reservations for the specialty restaurants as soon as you are able to on line. Otherwise you may get shut out. We tried to change a time on our 630 La Cucina reservation to a 530 reservation so we could get to a 730 show. This was the first night I tried and they were booked. So this is really important if you want to get reservations. Entertainment and Activities. We get the spa package so most of our free time is spent there. And being disabled it really helps me feel good. My cousin and her husband did the slides and they loved them. My cousin is 60 and her husband 70 and they had a blast. So the slides are not just for kids. We only ended up with one show and that was the For the Record the Brat Pack. It was excellent. We saw it the last time on the ship but it was in the Supper Club. So being in the Theater gave it a little difference. Still excellent. I would recommend it. But there is some strong language so I would not recommend it for smaller kids. Spa We love the spa and so we got the spa balcony our room was so close to the steps and we could go directly up to the spa on the next floor. This spa is a little more expensive than on other ships but it has more. There is a steam room which is great and then right after we would go into the ice room for like a minute or so and boy is that refreshing. You are not even cold. They also have a salt room which I went into but then after reading the sign inside that says people with diabetes and high blood pressure should not use it, I got out. It would have been nice for the sign to be on the outside like all the other signs. They also have two types of saunas as well. And what is nice on this ship is that I could go in these with my husband. On the Gem and Dawn these areas were inside the women's areas so you could only go in by yourself or with other ladies but not with your spouse. I like this much better. They had many heated loungers and they were great about removing towels for people who were saving them while they got a spa treatment. I like that they were pro active in this area. There are also many regular loungers that are very comfortable. We had a relaxing time in the Thermal Spa!! Ports and Shore Excursions. This is where we were really disappointed due to weather conditions. Our first stop was Jamaica. We did a food walking tour that was excellent. We did not do it from the ship but directly from the website. Look up Jamaica Culinary Tours if you are interested. Next stop was Grand Cayman and we had a three stop snorkeling and stingray experience with Captain Marvins. Another one that you can book directly with them. 3 snorkeling stop and then the stingray stop for $45. Another guest said he booked Captain Marvin through Shore excurioneer and paid more. But it did not matter what we paid because after we got off the ship we found out that the port police or port authority would not let the snorkeling tours go out. Not private ones and not on the ship. Boy we were disappointed. I went with Captain Marvins about 6 years ago and it was amazing. So we walked around just a little bit since it is hard for me to walk and we went back to the ship and to the spa.. Next stop Great Stirrup Cay. We were really excited to see there island and lay in the sun and have a bbq. another highlight of the trip that did end up happening. Due to the weather we could not tender and therefore could not visit the Island. The captain took us directly to the Bahamas and we got there at 1pm on Thursday and stayed overnight and spent the entire day there on Friday. I am not big on the Bahamas so was pretty disappointed. But we did find a snorkeling tour with the ship to Athol Island. It was only $50 so not a bad price. We went to one snorkeling spot and it was really chilly out. But I did get in and snorkel for awhile. Many of us just stayed in about 15 minutes but there was enough time to snorkel a lot had it been nice out. Service The service on the ship was great!! Everyone except for the waitress in the District Brew House and our waiter in Cagney's had a smile on there face. I am for the most part always smiling and try to stay happy so I like when I go on a trip and the service staff is also happy. Just a shout out to Leyda in the Manhattan club. She was so sweet and so nice we all wrote the comment cards out about her. I hope she and the other crew members had a good time in the Bahamas. Since we were staying overnight there the crew got to enjoy some of the sites. What a nice break for this hard working staff. We would definitely go on the Escape again. We think it is a great ship. Lots to do and great food. If you have any special requests I would make sure you put it in writing. You do not want to have happen to you what happened to us. I am doing that with our next trip on the NCL Bliss to Alaska so I can get the room configuration that will be good for me and my disability. If you decide to go on the Escape have a great time! We sure did! Read Less

NCL Star January 4 - 19, 2018 My motto is "there is not such thing as a bad cruise". So this was not a bad cruise. It could have been better but we had a great time and would call it a good cruise. The Star is starting to show it's age. I think it is going to need a sprucing up soon. Some of the seats in the Spinnaker lounge and the show room are broken and needing repair. We had a balcony cabin on deck 9. It had lots of storage space and it was lovely having a balcony. Upon arriving in our cabin and using our restroom our toilet overflowed. Water came running out of the toilet. I called down to the front desk and they said they would send someone up. Thankfully the water didn't enter the cabin due to the drain and the lip in the doorway of the bathroom. After 10 minutes of water running and no one coming I called back down to the front desk. Finally after another 5 minutes a plumber showed up. The toilet overflowed several more times but we found out we just needed to flush it twice to get it to stop overflowing. We had the most unfriendly cabin steward of any cruise we have ever been on and we have been on lots of cruises. He would hardly talk to us. We were lucky if we got a hello or good morning. He did his job okay. He always made our bed and gave us clean towels. I always tried to be especially nice to him but he never did warm up. We think he just hated his job and us guests. We walked by other room stewards on the ship and they were always very friendly. We had the unlimited beverage package. We don't drink that much but it was so nice to be able to get a drink at the pool and at all the shows in the evening. The bartenders were always very nice and didn't seem to mind the countless people with the unlimited beverage package. Bar service at the pool and in the spinnaker lounge was wonderful. I went to every show in the showroom every night and was never able to get bar service. So I would go to a bar on my way to the show and carry my drink in. We also had the special dining package. We were able to eat 4 times at any specialty restaurant. We enjoyed Le Bistro but the service was too intrusive. During every course two different people would come over and ask if everything was okay. Is the escargo hot enough? Is your soup too hot? Is your water cold enough? Good grief, just leave me alone and let me eat my dinner. Cagney's was wonderful. The best filet minon I have every had and the service was good and not intrusive. Tepenyaki was entertaining and we had more than enough food. We hated Moderno and will not eat there on any NCL ship again. They served our sides but meat didn't come out for another 10 minutes. We just ate our sides without any meat. Then when the meat did come out it was horrible and tough. Ginza was a favorite restaurant of ours. There is no charge for this restaurant. The food and service were wonderful and we ate there many, many times. We ate a few times in the buffet. It was okay but I have seen better and bigger buffets on other cruise ships. We never ate in the regular dining room and never missed it. We dislike dinners that last 2 hours. Needless to say we never went hungry on this cruise. The entertainment on this cruise was great. I loved all 4 of the production shows. We also had a juggler, a magician and two comedians. The comedians were funny and clean, which was so refreshing. I went to all the game shows....the newlywed game, deal or no deal, perfect couple, liar liar etc. They were all good and funny. For the first few days of the cruise we only had an assistant cruise director. Her name was Marzena and she was from Poland. She will make a good cruise director one day. The only problem was sometimes I had trouble understanding her because of her accent. Mid cruise the cruise director came on board. His name was Kevin and he was okay. He was from the Phillipines and again his accent made him difficult to understand at times. The entire cruise director team was fun and friendly. I went to the Q and A with the Captain, Enginer and hotel director. They all seemed so nice and the event was very informative. One silly cruiser asked the captain if he every watched the ocean birds to get help with operating the boat and navigating. The captain was very nice and patient and said "no, I will just stick with my navigation charts" We loved all the ports on this cruise as we had never been to them before. We never purchase shore excursions from the ship as we believe they are too overpriced and crowded. We purchase our shore excursion on the pier at great savings. In Acapulco we took a wonderful tour with Tours by Van. It was the best tour we have ever taken and can not recommend them higher. In Costa Rica we took a river boat cruise with the Crocodile man, and it was wonderful. In Cartagena we took a city trolley tour and the tour guide had trouble with English. I can not recommend this tour as our trolley broke down and the air conditioning hardly worked. As we went thru the canal we had a comentator who told us all about the canal and everything we saw along the way. If you are going to go thru the canal you really need a balcony cabin where you can sit, relax and not fight for a place by the rail with others guests. We loved it and would love to do the Panama Canal again. We enjoy NCL and will be sure to cruise with them again and other main stream cruise lines. Read Less

We chose this cruise as we could drive to New York City from Ontario Canada within 8-9 hours. This cruise was our Christmas gift to our 2 adult daughters (ages 18 & 23) as well, a chance to include my mother (age 75) and my husband's mother(age 85). (we had 3 staterooms booked). You will note, this was the cruise that went through the terrifying Bomb Cyclone and for 3 days we lived in fear, not knowing if we would survive. If you are thinking about taking a cruise with Norwegian Breakaway, search Bomb Cyclone cruise (Dec 29, 2017 to Jan 5th, 2018) and you will see proof of what all of the passengers went through. To date NCL has offered 25% off our next cruise with no other promos and must be taken in 12 months! No one is accepting this joke of an offer. NCL does not stand behind ensuring your safety and comfort as they willing took us through the storm in order to meet their next cruise obligations, regardless of what it meant to us the passengers. We have previously cruised with Norwegian, Carnival & Royal Caribbean (over 10 cruises) so we can compare. This ship is one of Norwegians's largest and newest ships. The staterooms look larger only because of the lack of storage for your clothing. There were no drawers to put things and only open shelves in the closet (and you could not see items once in closet). The complimentary food (in the dining rooms) was not at the caliber we remember from our previous cruises (Carnival has better food). Since they do not have set dining times, you waited in lines and then felt rushed to get out of the dining room for the next group and you did not enjoy the same servers who would know your name and greet you each day. Most meals, esp. at the Pub were cold by the time we received. Entertainment was fine however a lack of nightly entertainment and they now want you to make reservations and pay extra for a night of "specialty" entertainment. So the cruise ships have "specialty" dining experiences at a cost and now Norwegian charges for entertainment. When we hit the rough waters (for 3 days) ALL entertainment (dancing etc) was cancelled. We were never served lobster, not even on New Years Eve, however we received lobster on our Carnival cruise just March 2017 in the regular dining room. Excursions. There is nothing close at the Port Canaveral stop so a waste of time. We had hoped to go back to Blue Lagoon at Nassau Bahamas but this excursion is now 3X the amount we paid for it years ago. Based on our experience and the fact that NCL has not been responsive to the thousands of complaints, we will not recommend nor take another Norwegian cruise. You will only see Terrible" for ALL categories based on the fact that anything positive we did experience has been wiped away from our memories due to NCLs decision to put my families lives at risk. We selected the Norwegian Gateway because it has excellent handicap accessible accommodations and the staff was excellent with helping us get on and off the ship. The roll-in shower and public handicap accessible rest rooms were the best we have experienced on any ship. We were disappointed with the service we received from the room steward, bar staff, and dining staff and we feel it was because their gratuity was already included in the "cost of services". It appeared to us the staff could care less since they already were going to receive their "tips" no matter what level or service they provided. On the positive side every time we had a question the ship's staff would stop what they were doing and make time to help. For example when we were onshore we stopped two men with name tags and asked for directions for a wheel chair route. We later learned the two very helpful gentlemen were actually dancers with one of the featured shows....we were impressed. Even though we were disappointed with the staff service we enjoyed the cruise. All 21 in our group had a great time and we all plan to cruise with Norwegian again. Read Less

We wanted to visit the Canarys and Funchal without packing and unpacking several times. We are three in the cabin - parents and a college student. I could not be more disappointed. We thought being aboard ship for Christmas and New Years would be festive and fun and it was nothing like that. I understand you must appeal to the older folks who take this cruise but from food to music and port call timeframes, everything that could go wrong went wrong. Port Calls: This captain wanted to save as much as possible when it comes to time in port - leaving us with little to none to really see the islands. We pulled in early enough - when nothing was open on the island, not even a coffee shop - and we'd leave often at 3:30 p.m.! With no shipboard entertainment to keep you busy, why would you want people on board? Just to buy expensive drinks I guess. All of the islands were nice enough - Maderia being teh best but Casablanca??? Don't even get off the ship. The ship is bad - Casablanca is worse! Entertainment: The band "Souled Out" was not bad. Their chemistry though is not there. Seems the lead guy can't stand the lead gal from where we were sitting. They do one hour sets then leave for an hour. There is NOTHING going on for that hour. A DJ doesn't spin any music to dance. The staff don't come and do something fun. Nothing. So let's say you are enjoying the music - then there's a huge break with nothing to do!! I really was stunned by this. I've cruised before and a lot can be forgiven when you have entertainment you enjoy. This was the most board I've ever been on a ship. The music was appealing to ballroom dancers and they danced. Taking the entire dance floor so none of us non professionals could get a spot. Fun to watch but maybe at 10 p.m. you'd switch to something people under 80 would enjoy as well. PS the older folks enjoyed the popular tunes as much as the old stuff so why not appeal to everyone?? Entertainment 2: The teenagers (under 18) get the nice front of the ship spot for a disco but I think there were maybe 20 of them total on the ship. Prime real estate for kids with nothing for any of the paying passengers between 18 and 75 years old. There is a second "disco" but they let karaoke have that spot until 11 p.m. every night then spin dance tunes after that. You have to pass through the smoke gauntlet from hell to get to this disco (the casino) to get there. On New Years Eve this was the only place that had any entertainment after 12:30 p.m. YES, they closed the Galaxy that seats a few hundred at 12:30 p.m. on NEW YEARS EVE!!! It was unbelievable. Entertainment 3: The shows were fine. The dance crew is great and the lead singers are very good. They had a British lady for a couple nights that was great as well. (Michele) The magician is awful and the music so loud during his performances that I'm sure the old folks just removed their hearing aids. They should let the singers and dancers own that place and get rid of all the rest of the glitz and glam. Everyone likes quality singing - show tunes etc. Entertainment Staff: Jacky and Eliose were great and you can see they are working hard against all odds (and their apparent boss Dave the Cruise Director) to help build an environment where people can have some fun. But they must figure a way to bring the entertainment to the people. This group needs an overhaul. $50 to play Bingo is just not reasonable when you only win $150 and you're nickled and died on every thing else. Ship Excursions: Don't do it!! Waste of money and they don't know what goes on on their own excursions. Whale watching we did with them and we asked if their was swimming off the boat (we'd read that in a review) but it's December so we asked. "NO, it's way too cold they won't do that." We sat for 45 minutes while everyone from the other cruise boats donned their suits and jumped into the waters of the Canary Islands. Not fun. Advice: get off the boat, walk a bit up the pier and get a cab driver who will take you all over the islands for about $100 and get you back on time. Totally worth it!! Food: The sushi was great but you were paying for it. The buffet, yuck except for breakfast. Hard to ruin breakfast I guess. Too salty, too mushy, again, food for 80 years olds I guess. Drinks: I get it, we need to pay for drinks and the inclusive plan was not worth it for us - we don't drink enough - so I pay $16.00 for a drink once you had the gratuity, ok, but at least learn how to make a drink!! Every bartender in that place needs retraining. The amount of sour mix used in every drink will give you indigestion. They can't even get a gin and tonic right. Awful. Rooms: It's an old ship so I was not expecting anything grand, and it was fine. Beds are a bit hard but service staff were a bright light in a ship that seemed like no one else enjoyed their jobs. Our cabin girl, Nina, was so nice and polite. We loved her and appreciated how hard she worked. Leading up to the cabins though, it smells - and bad. Also deck 6 is below the casino where people apparently move furniture all night long. Sleep was impossible on many nights. Smoking: This ship is in Europe where there are many smokers and this ship is all theirs. They own the outdoor areas beside the pools - seems like that would be ok but the glass windows keeps the smoke from dissipating and each day we much walk through the cloud of smoke from hell to get to dinner. The casino doors are left propped open so all the smoke from there pours into the hallways and the elevators where everyone must go to get to the bedroom floors is so smokey that people were fanning the smokey smell away. My allergies were going crazy and by the time we left the ship I swear I second hand smoked a pack a day. There needs to be a limit. They have every right to smoke, but the rest of us should have an area we can breathe fresh air and not on the top of the ship in 30 mile hour winds. You can see from this that the ship totally lacks everything you'd expect from a cruise. It's a very sad situation and we spent $5,000 to have one of the worst vacations we've ever had. My advice - choose a different cruise line because Norwegian has gone down hill and fast. Read Less

Spent our first night at the Hilton Garden Inn at Waikiki Beach. Just a 5 minute walk to the beach to take in a true Hawaiian sunset. The next day we boarded the ship and headed straight to the Aloha buffet to feast on all the wonderful food. The milk shakes at the Cadillac diner was great and dinning in the Liberty dining room was a nice experience for the kids and grandkids. Our daughter was treated to a surprise birthday cake and song. I purchased a 10 photo package to have our family pictures taken on the Christmas decorated stairs. The professional quality was outstanding. The package also included a flash drive of the 10 pictures plus 1 free and a picture of the ship. We partook in several shore excursions that met all expectations. Our true highlight was the Luau on Kauai. After receiving the welcoming Hawaiian Lei, we enjoyed island food and Hawaiian history through island dance and music. One of our family members was in a wheelchair and was trilled by a special helicopter ride on the Blue Hawaiian Mokihana Helicopter tour at Kauai. Everyone enjoyed seeing the white waves crash on shore, waterfalls, and the green hillsides. I felt safe and the pilot shared the history of the island. Some of the family did the Bike Adventure on Maui and we all learned about growing coffee and chocolate on the Kona Mocha shore excursion. We ended our cruise with the Pearl Harbor and Honolulu city shore excursion which also took us to the airport. It was a solemn moment remembering our fallen treasures and the history that took place on that December day. Our family left filled with memories of the Best Christmas Ever! Read Less
