I must say I was a little skeptical about going on a cruise vacation when one of my girlfriends suggested it for our girls vacation. The prior cruise a few years ago I had gone on was not a fun time at all. It was on a different cruise line. On my honeymoon 32 yrs ago I sailed on NCL's SS Norway and was wonderful experience even during the close call we had with Hurricane Gloria (if anyone remembers that one). The cruise was booked and then I learned it was a NCL cruise on NCL Dawn. I was excited to go and to see if the service, experience, food, etc. was still as good as I had remembered from 32 yrs ago. I must say it did not disappoint at all. It was an amazing 7 day cruise to Bermuda. The staff was wonderful, friendly, attentive, helpful and let's not forget funny and amazing entertainers as well from the moment we walked onto the cruise line to the moment we did have to go home (unfortunately). The food, presentation and waitstaff from the buffet to any one of the other restaurants on board was top notch service with everything fresh and delicious. The whole staff are very well trained to provide the best service to every passenger on board. The cabin was a great size with a nice window. We went on a couple of tours and the service there was great as well. Everything ran on time and well coordinated. Cannot wait to go on another cruise again on NCL hopefully within the next few months. Great Job NCL Dawn and to all of their staff!!! Read Less

I love travelling out of Boston - the Pier is user friendly and the check-in goes quickly. I have some mobility challenges. First trip back on the Dawn since it has been refurbished and it does look and feel fresher. I was in a 2br suite on Deck 11 and while I love the room and particularly the shower, I like it best when it is in the Haven. There really is better service there. Ate at 4 of the specialty restaurants - I love Cagney and our waiter was terrific - that always remember food allergies and make suggestions. But the food at Le Bistro is the best onboard and I am glad they have moved the restaurant. Entertainment was so-so- the comedian not funny at all but the ensemble energetic and fun to watch. My favorite music can be heard all over the ship. NCL is a service driven company and I feel that as a customer. Love forward to a fall cruise on the Jade to Canada. Just made contact with a private tour company in Prince Edward Island as a result of a review on this site. Read Less

Chose this cruise as we wanted to go to Bermuda and the access was better in Boston than it would be in New York. Have taken one cruise out of New York, and that will be the last, and I didn't have to drive to the cruise port as I have to now due to my husband's confinement to a wheel chair. Embarkation went smoothly with lots of help. Debarkation took longer due to waiting for assistance, but went smoothly. We had an accessible room which was very large and well arranged. The only drawback was that there was only one American style electrical outlet, and several things had to be plugged in at once - his breathing machine, wheelchair charger, etc. We had brought two 4' power strips which plugged together met out needs. Later NCL provided us a single longer power cord with multiple outlets to use. Meal were excellent in main dining rooms, specialty restaurants, and buffet. We got lots of assistance in seating and with the meals. We had seen many of the major shows before on other NCL ships, but greatly enjoyed them again. Especially Elements was outstanding and Soul Duo is phenomenal! Wheelchair seating could have been better. Got to take a tour of Bermuda on a 5 hour excursion in a minibus with a chair lift that accommodated my husband in his wheelchair. Very informative and enjoyable tour. Also were able to take the NCL provided ferry to St. George's for the day. Most of that area has step ups to all restaurants and shops so not wheelchair accessible. A tour guide tole us about a back entrance to the historic church and they have an entrance ramp also so we enjoyed touring it. Crew and staff provided excellent service. Would definitely take this cruise on the Dawn again. Read Less

Background: From Massachusetts, so didn't have to worry about luggage for cruise meeting flight requirements.. Traveled with my Grandmother, we both needed a good getaway which this cruise thankfully provided! Cruise: Dawn, June 2nd to June 9th Boston to Bermuda, return to Boston Embarkation: There were a bunch of cars but we only had to wait a few minutes before we were curbside and the speedy porters whisked our luggage off to the ship, breezed through security and check-in, i would say we were on the ship within 20 mins or less, total relief! Luggage was delivered during the mandatory fire drill, however we were allowed to drop off our carry on items to the room, even though it was still getting the finish touches put on. Cabin: (Deck 10 - Balcony/BB - disability room: 10700) Very spacious & met all of our needs, though being my first cruise can't compare to anything else. We stayed in a disability room, due to travelling with my grandmother and her needed use of a walker. There were some issues/hick-ups i noted throughout the cruise, but i will make note of them in the "Cabin review". Our room Steward was fantastic (i'm terrible with names but i want to say Radolfo, or something similar), beaming smile, joyful greeting whenever we crossed paths, he was incredibly helpful and attentive during our whole trip, the only snag on his part was that there were two of us travelling and only one chair in the room (the room didn’t have one of the small sofas, as is typical of a “normal” balcony room offering) which wasn’t a deal killer and makes sense given the disability setup of the room. It wasn’t until our last night that our Steward noticed this lacking and brought in a new set of two chairs for us, which was most helpful for facilitating the last night packing for disembarkation, but would have been nice over the course of the whole trip, to be honest I preferred to perch on the comfy bed, but it is the little things you notice/miss when not there. So if you too book a similar room and want two chairs, ask and ye shall receive apparently. Staff: I found the staff to be friendly and helpful, at least with those I had contact with. I cannot recall coming across a single rude staff member over the course of the trip. This was especially illustrated by the “Solo Travelers” Program that Norwegian ran nightly on the ship in which both myself and Grandmother took part. Several staff took time each night out of their own (I’m sure) busy schedules, to both greet the group to make sure we felt welcomed but also that we were having a good time! This program really made our trip, we all clicked well, dined out together most nights, and made some new top-notch friends! Dining, Food & Bar Service: Food and dining service were a bit of hit or miss (we ate each night in a large group, so not sure if that had anything to do with it) but any issues we did experience were generally small and were corrected in pretty quick fashion. As for the food, most of my meals were great from the dining rooms and buffet, I didn’t try any of the specialty restaurants on this cruise so cannot speak directly to them. I can say the food in Bamboo was delish, I had the Orange Beef, with fried Pork Pot stickers and Spring rolls… YUM! If it wasn’t for having to catch one of the Entertainment shows, I think I would have never left the restaurant that evening! I also had the Lamb in the Aqua dining room and that was quite tasty, esp with the addition of some mint jelly, and the Pork loin in the Venetian was tasty too. Those were the stand outs for me, the food overall was generally good, but standard and what you’d expect for large populous service. I also experienced great service at all the bars throughout the ship... aside for one drink order where the bartender made my “Dark n Stormy” with Bacardi Rum…? I think he must have been a fill-in on that night, needless to say the Unlimited drink package is worth it's weight in gold and highly recommended! One suggestion to Norwegian would be to possibly extend the hours breakfast is severed in the Buffet, it would have been nice, as a night owl and late morning riser, to be able to snag some tasty waffles, eggs or french toast up until around Noon, instead of ending around 1030am, even if such an offering was just a small station off to the side where said items could be kept warm on a small batch basis, it would have been welcomed instead of trying to force oneself to down lunchtime offerings that just didn't appeal at the time, i'm sure i would not be the only one whom would have appreciated this. There were a few downsides I noted from my and our groups dining experiences: 1) Beef meals were somewhat hit or miss from day to day & dining room to dining room. One day it was spot on, the next day it was tough and dry with some in our group not being able finish their dinners. 2) The menu item listings were sometimes “off the mark” as to what was actually being offered, not sure if this was due to some language barrier or translation, in combination with the American culinary diet… case in point was the “Country Fried Chicken” which in American terms is generally a boneless deep fried Chicken breast, instead my order came as bone-in “Country-style” Fried Chicken pieces, while the phrasing is slight, it made the difference to the end result. Also the offered “Boston Cream Pie” wasn’t exactly an authentic Boston Cream Pie for which Boston is known, which was the reason one of our party actually sent it back. As the Cruise is Porting out of Boston, and as a lifelong New Englander, I found this to be a bit of a culinary faux pas. 3) The greatest aggravation to our group while dinning was actually more of a small annoyance but crept up every time we ate across the ship's dining rooms, that is: The Salt and Pepper shakers are equally un-identifiable from each other. There is zero indication denoting Salt in one mill and Pepper in the other, without having to grind the contents into one’s hand to discover what was hidden inside. This also resulted in several occasions where our table had only salt or only pepper because not even the dining room staff could tell the difference either. [To offer a simple and elegant solution to Norwegian should they read this, they should order some Black and White silicon brands that could be easily (and singularly) wrapped around the trunk of the grinders making their contents easily identifiable, but still quickly change-able as need arises] Bermuda Port & Shore Excursions: Leaving the ship for the first time was a bit chaotic, everyone was kept up on level 6 util the okay was given and everyone on massed headed down the stairs to the gangway. The rest of the time coming and going from the ship was pretty easy and there was never more than a few minutes wait in either direction (mostly returning) We did one Excursion via Norwegian, the Gosling Rum Cruise, which was nice, but nothing special, mostly it's a sell opportunity for Gosling, with some history & sightseeing thrown in, we did have one of the Goslings on board to talk about the family history, so that was kind of neat, and the sample were yummy, the Highlight of course was the Sunset, absolutely STUNNING! The rest of the time i booked my own excursions, doing saved me a little $ but also opened up time windows not offered via Norwegian. Activities: 1) Early morning Horseback Trail Ride via Spicelands Downside: the ride started at 7am, due to this you have to take a 30 hour Taxi and leave the ship at 6am, and despite what anyone says they don't go down into the water. Upside: I was the only one who showed up... so i literally had a private Tour all to myself!!! 2) Hiked up to Gibbs Lighthouse from Bus #8, then to other side of island and returned on Bus #7 (FYI the Bus #7 stop is the easier of routes to the Lighthouse 3)Kayaked via Somerset Bridge Watersports: I had wanted to Jetski, but this establishments booking process is archaic, and i was sadly unsatisfied, won't be a repeat customer, also kayak i had was run down and beat up. 4) Jetski via Island Tour Center: Had a smooth reservation and checkin process, the tour was a blast, but the weather was no idea, really high seas and winds... if the weather was more mild it would have been perfect! But it was still a fun adventure don't get me wrong. 5) Exploring the Dockyard: basically a built out Tourist center, of which you would expect, some history, mostly shops to sell you things... Do however stop into the Pirate ship (Calico Jack's) they have a plank & beware, they serve on the strong side - you've been warned! Entertainment: As for Entertainment, the ship has some real talent, the music groups were incredibly well preformed across all the musical genes offered. I didn’t attend many of the performance theater shows, but did catch the Duo Acrobatic act and that was impressive, even more so, when you consider they do their thing on a constantly in motion floor!!! I also heard the Elements show was outstanding as well. The music and dancing provided in the Bliss lounge each night was also a welcomed treat and way to de-stress while having some fun, we had a great crew on the cruise that tore up the dance floor each night. Spa & fitness: I did not take part in any spa treatments or use the fitness center, i was so busy on the island i didn't need it LOL, I did pop my head in though, and they looked very nice. Disembarkation: Was reasonably smooth, however the assistance getting onto the ship wasn't what it was in leaving (unless you require a wheelchair off the ship) those with carry-off luggage and walkers weren't really offered any priority for the snaking-about-the-ship line to leave. We did choose however the last time slot to vacate the ship, that did seem to help us at least with departing, and avoiding the lion-share off people streaming off into the terminal. The porters were very helpful transporting our luggage out to the street to wait to be picked up. Note: it's very important to communicate to the party picking you up, what colored "zone" you are in and what flag number you are nearest. Conclusion: All said and done, outside of the few above-noted issues, it was a most enjoyable cruise! I cannot wait for my next one and will not hesitate to book again with Norwegian, again a huge “Thank you” for a great memorable time to the wonderful staff of the Dawn!!! Read Less

The Norwegian staff go out of their way to make the cruise as pleasurable as possible, from your dining, entertainment, room and excursion experiences. Bermuda was an absolute paradise. My husband and I felt most comfortable eating at the Garden Café, where it was buffet style eating. The staff was very efficient and there were always clean areas to eat. We enjoyed a stand up comic and a Broadway Singer at the Stardust Theater. It was definitely worth seeing. The room had plenty of space, was always cleaned properly and we slept great on a very comfortable mattress. We chose two excursions when we arrived at Bermuda. The first was the minibus which brought you from one side of the island to the other. The bus driver was very informed and stopped and show you the sights. The second excursions was my favorite. We spend three hours at Horseshoe Bay. The water and sand were absolutely beautiful. I had never in my life experience such a wonderful place. Read Less

First Family cruise but won't be our last! My Family of 4 with the kids ages 6&8 really enjoyed the time away. We chose to put down technology, and enjoy the view from out penthouse balcony, see shows at night, have family pool and dance time and really enjoy each other. We loved trying different dishes on the menus, tasting and sharing the desserts. The kids really love the shows especially Elements and Duo. The ship wasn't overly big but it still took us a day or two to navigate. We opted to get a bigger room knowing the kids would have more space and we would have a nicer balcony, so happy we did! The Butler we had was amazing he made our vacation even more relaxing. We did a few excursions in Bermuda, one I booked via Shoretrips.com- it was cheaper then booking through the ship and the other I booked on the island. Read Less

We were met by our Butler and concierge who were nothing but wonderful to us the entire time. But really what made our vacation (besides beautiful Bermuda) was our room steward. He really was so amazing with how attentive he was and how he always made sure to ask the girls and us how we were and to say hello. Sometimes little things like that to me go a HUGE way. He even made a huge zoo full of towel animals for the girls after them telling him how much they loved the presentation of making them in the atrium. The food was absolutely amazing we ate breakfast in Moderno, O'Sheehan's, and the Venetian. The food and service at O'Sheehans did not even compare to the service at Moderno. Venetian was good as well I wish we would have went there besides our last day. We also ate at Cagney's, Los Lobos, and Moderno for dinner as well. The food was outstanding and amazing and there is not a single complaint I have at all. I really cannot wait to go back and just experience this type of vacation all over again, I don't think that there is an easier vacation to take then this one here. Our group was myself, my husband, and our 2 daughters (10 and 5). And they have an amazing time as well and still talk about it. Read Less

This is our fourth time on the Dawn to Bermuda. We enjoy this cruise so much it is just a 45 minute drive from our home, and like many others on this cruise we live in Massachusetts. We will be back again soon, and we never get tired of Bermuda. This cruise included a large group from the Harvey Robbins annual “Oldies Cruises” The benefit for the rest of us was that we enjoyed two shows of Oldies stars from the 1960’s, guitarist Billy Davis, singer Richy Rich, and former “girl group” members Margaret Ross of the Cookies, Louise Murray of the Jaynettes, Lillian Walker from The Exciters. Just wonderful and lots of fun we met the ladies and got to say hello later in the cruise. Those who were part of the group had more events with the stars than the rest of us, but it was still a great bonus. The Boston weather leading up to the cruise was crazy going from 47 degrees to 97 in a few days with both rain and sun. Finally we had a beautiful day when we left, and aside from a bit of rain on the sea day the weather was perfect and in the 70’s. On the second sea day on the way home we had a very heavy fog all day and into the night which made it a bit eerie. The new complimentary ferry that NCL is sponsoring to St. George was running the three days we were there including Sunday. On Sunday we took the #7 bus to the Gibbs lighthouse and climbed a bit of a hill to the lighthouse then up 185 steps for an incredible view of the the island, cost $2.50. It wasn’t that difficult there are four landings with benches to sit down if you want, and exhibits at each landing to look at, and lots of windows. We were the only people climbing at the time, and there is a small door and you can walk around outside on a narrow walkway. The view was worth the effort. Monday it was cloudy, but no rain. We took the ferry to Hamilton and the bus to the Crystal Caves. Tuesday was perfect and sunny in the 70’s, we went to Horseshoe Bay beach. We took the shuttle for $7.00 each way from the pier. The bus is cheaper but it leaves you at the top of the steep hill down to the beach, and quite a climb at the end of the day. There are plenty of shuttles to choose from at each end of the trip. The America’s Cup races were starting the next week and there were many more people around. The traffic in Hamilton was heavier than I ever saw it before. There were lots of large yachts docked there also. We saw the America’s Cup teams practicing near the ship, it was really something. The day we left we saw helicopters flying low and they appeared to be filming the action. Most people we talked with on this cruise had done it before, many like us had done it a few times. People seemed very relaxed, and not in a hurry. We never waited in line for a restaurant and there were plenty of seats in the theatre, and deck chairs. We got reservations at the times we wanted for Le Bistro, and Los Lobos. We waited too late in the week to make plans because Cagney’s and Moderno were fully booked. We tried Los Lobos for the first time, it was not open last year during our cruise. The food is wonderful and interesting, don’t miss the cactus salad. The crew as usual were great and the service in all the restaurants was excellent. John our steward kept our cabin spotless, and he was an expert at towel animals. He made several I had never seen before including an alligator made from the bed cover, I have pictures of all of them of course. We had a mini suite, and during the dry dock they removed the table and chairs. We were told it made more room, but they were missed. We enjoyed all the food we tried. In addition to the specialty restaurants we ate at the Venetian, Aqua, Bamboo, and the Garden Cafe. The set-up of the buffet, with the lines is still confusing but we had a good breakfast there most days, and twice we ate breakfast in the Venetian which was exceptional. At the buffet you really have to walk around to both sides to decide what you want because there is something different in every line. We always found something we liked right away but at times wondered if there was something even better around the other side. We did see the Oldies shows, Elements and the Whitney Houston tribute, all were excellent. We had seen Band of the Run last year. We really missed Patti and Jose, they were not on this trip and will not be on the Dawn for the summer. Out by the pool we also noticed there was no reggae music this trip, there was a rock band instead. Captain Martin and Gio the cruise director got off in Boston with us, there was no mention of who was replacing each of them. Overall this is a just a great cruise, perfect with three sea days and three days in Bermuda. We have already booked for next year. Read Less

This is our fourth cruise on NCL, 3rd on the Dawn. We love the fact it leaves out of Boston and that we need not fly. It means our vacation starts sooner with way less stress. I bought the spa pass for the week and it was worth every penny and then some. There were plenty of food options and restaurants to choose from. I loved that breakfast was served I think up until 10:30 or so. O'Sheehans was always good they served all you can eat ribs one evening and we had prime rib the last night. It was great. We ate in the Aqua a number of nights and it was good. We had lunch 1 afternoon in the Venetian and it was good too. I never had a meal that I did not like. We did not do Specialty dining this time around. We got the beverage package and it did not disappoint. We never ever experienced any employee at anytime that did not have a smile on their face all the time. They were there to assist you with any request. Lots of changes on board with the refurbishment too many to list, but all were beautiful. Getting on and off the ship was a breeze. We usually get there around 10:30 or so but chose to go slightly later to avoid sitting in the waiting area. It worked out fine. I love the fact they had organized transportation out front for folks being picked up or getting a taxi. The entertainment out by the pool was great, lots of music most of the day and there were always something going on in the evening as well. It seems as though there were many more choices on a daily basis than in the past. And as always Bermuda was beautiful. We took a mini bus that was 7$ each way to Horseshoe Bay. Well worth it as we did not need a bus pass. NCL provides a free ferry to St. George a number of times a day...if you would like to do that I would suggest getting in line early as it fills up fast. It was a great vacation and I would do it again. I am hopeful NCL will bring another ship or 2 into Boston one day. Read Less

Took our two recently married sons and their wives on a Boston to Bermuda cruise on May 19. We had GV 14500. Everything was wonderful, but the weather was only so-so. I had been hearing less than great things about the crew, but although many were new to the ship, I thought they were all very good to excellent. The new and free tender service to St. George is great. A bit slower than the Bermuda run service due to complexities in docking, but the interior seating was very comfortable. The onboard entertainment was excellent. There was a Whitney Houston show that was the best show I have seen at sea in years. The magician was very good and the comedian was very funny. Jose and Patti left the Dawn the day we got on, but the Atrium Duo Rockaway were good replacements. The two bands were also very good, Sonada was the better of the two in my opinion. Go was the CD and did a fantastic job. The Dawn herself was very clean, the food was well prepared and very tasty and the Garden Villa was unbelievable. It was not easy returning home to a house less than half the size of the GV. Our Butler Willian was outstanding as was our Cabin Steward Joemarie. Leah, the Concierge was most helpful and wonderful to work with. This was our third cruise on the Dawn since the refurb, fourth week since one of the cruises was a two week repo, and I still do not understand why the Pearly Kings was replaced with the Wine Bar. Looks like NCL spent a good amount of money creating the Wine Bar and it is an unused space most of the time. As a NCLH stockholder, I do not like to see money spent to reduce revenue. Negative ROIs and ROAs are never good for the business. Read Less

The Norwegian Dawn is a "well run machine". The staff is exceptional; particularly housekeeping. The food is just OK; even specialty dining. Teppanyaki was the best of all the specialty dining restaurants. The thermal pass is a must for relaxation and quiet time away from the crowd. Spa services cost less when docked in Bermuda or on return trip to Boston, so don't book services on route to Bermuda. There is an abundant of activities on-board for everyone to have a good time. The Cruise Director will keep you laughing. The ship is always clean. Embarkation and disembarkation were smooth and efficient. Would definitely recommend Norwegian Dawn from Boston to Bermuda. Also, the mini-bus tour of Bermuda through NCL was very informative and I would recommend it. And, the Rising Sun catamaran excursion through NCL was fantastic. The crew was exceptional and we all had a terrific time. I would without hesitation recommend the Rising Sun catamaran excursion. Read Less

Cruised from Boston to Bermuda. My 5th Norwegian, her 1st. A great trip for sure. Only negative was that mother nature sent an Atlantic storm our way forcing the captain to hug the coast line to near Delaware causing us to loose 1 day in Bermuda (can't fool mother nature.) Trip was wonderful.....great food in main dining rooms and complimentary Bamboo restaurant. Room attendant was top-notch (thank you Dewey). Over-all service was first rate. Open dining does not always get you the same waiter, but Rosana in Aqua was outstanding with a great personality,,,,made our dinner very relaxing and fun. In Venetian, Nestain and partner Russell were in their first full week as wait staff....they were fun and efficient (but a little nervous). Maitre D in Venetian was a bit of a stuffed shirt as we complimented Nestain to him and he didn't let Nestain know that we did. Entertainment was absolutely fantastic....Jose and Patti were the best...played and sang daily with incredible repertoire....kept us dancing all night. Also Sonata was another group who also kept us dancing with a great variety and range of music. Shows were fantastic with high energy dancing and singing. An acrobatic act and magician were awesome. Never a dull moment. Shore excursion...Hidden Gems was the best (see review on Trip Advisor). Also Bermuda triangle evening cruise gave a great view of shipwreck and undersea life in glass bottom boat. Will definitely cruise Norwegian again...hello Alaska. Read Less

We're having Cruise withdrawals! That's how fun the entire trip was. The Dawn isn't a huge super liner ship, but not small one either. We had 2,500 passengers and 1,100 crew. Sailing out of Boston makes things very convenient for us. Booked a 2:00 pm embarkation pretty much walked right on, disembark went even smoother. The Crew was incredible. From being helpful to having fun and laugh. If you like French dinning check out Le Bistro, oh man excellent with a great atmosphere. Brazilian style dinner check out the Moderno's Restaurant. Think I gain 5 pounds there. waiting staff were so friendly, kind and professional. This leads me to the Spa and Fitness Center, simply incredible. Plenty of exercise equipment. My wife actually got her hair done up with a style cut she always wanted. Compliments galore. Bars and Bartenders were plentiful, fun and friendly. The Pool area is great, plenty of private outdoor sitting areas. Crew walking the decks were plentiful and helpful, even met the Captain. The Casino is really nice with a few games of Bingo. Entertainment was very fun & enjoyable. Bands were very good, shows were good. Bermuda was great, Horseshoe Cove NICE. Met only 1 negative waiter staff, but the table beside us loved him? Its probably me? Like I said at the beginning, still having withdrawals. Will be booking again next year Read Less

Live near Boston and did not have to fly. Bonus! Boarded at noon. Bronze latitude member. Bottle of champagne waiting in our room. Great room steward, Jack! Ate dinner in Venetian almost every night. Upgraded to Cagney steak house the night of our anniversary and they sang Let Me Call You Sweetheart and gave us a happy anniversary cake. One other night we made reservation in the free Bamboo. Yummy! Bathroom was very small. When you walk in, the sink is ahead of you, shower to the right and toilet to the left. Good luck if you are overweight, getting into the toilet section. Tv is small, but who cares. I am not on a cruise to watch tv. The cruise was filled with Boston sports fans. Celtics playoffs took place during our week cruise. The Friday night game was on the tv at O'Sheehans. Monday night's game was not! Game 7!!! We were told that the sports channels are pre-chosen before cruise. Could not get it live. We went off the ship and watched in at the Frog and Onion. BUT, Wednesday nights game was also NOT on tv and we were sailing. No other options. It came on the sports channel in the room at 3 am as taped! crazy!! Los lobos Mexican restaurant has a bar. Without a reservation, you can get a margarita and fresh made guacamole and chips. Bartender was awesome! Wine tasting was outstanding with Ricardo. BLack opaque glasses. We had to guess what grape it was. Sooo fun! I really wish breakfast places had REAL maple syrup. Hate that fake stuff. Spa was lovely. Bought admission to thermal spa suite for the whole week. No kids allowed. Peaceful. Husband was very happy in fitness center. Entertainment was great! Something for everyone. The last night we listened to Motown in Bliss lounge and ended up staying for Broadway Caberet. That was the best thing ALL week! Don't miss it. St George's on Bermuda was boring, but we went to Tobacco bay beach there. I highly recommend it! Horseshoe bay Beach too. Take the $7 shuttle. Free wi fi in lots of bars all over the island. We did not get the wifi on the ship. We did have free drinks all week. Awesome deal. Karaoke was really fun. Some very talented singers. Jose and Patti are outstanding musical entertainers. This was our 2nd cruise to Bermuda aboard the Dawn and we plan to go again in the future. Read Less

This cruise came highly recommended by a friend who is also a travel agent. She knew it had been 20+ years since In had taken a vacation and that I had never taken my children, now ages 25, 19 and 17, on a trip anywhere. She helped me to pick this cruise to Bermuda keeping in mind my meager finances and helped me to book an affordable trip and far enough out that I had sufficient time to pay for it. I cannot thank her and the staff of the Norwegian Dawn enough. Our expectations were exceeded in every way possible, from our staterooms to the food and the entertainment. We visited the Spa and had great massages from very attentive therapists ( I am a massage therapist myself and was very impressed with the Spa) The specialty dining was a treat and the choices of food was endless. Having dining choices available 24/7 was also a bonus! The shore excursions were well organized and well worth booking through Norwegian - no fuss, no muss. The entertainment was varied and there was something for everyone and it was enjoyed by all. I am looking forward to cruising again and have already started saving my pennies! Truly exceptional! Our first cruise and definitely won't be our last! The ship, the crew, the food, and the facilities were beyond my expectations. It was our 50th anniversary and Norwegian Dawn made it so extra special! We especially enjoyed the Thermal Spa and used it every day. The entertainment with Jose and Patti was phenomenal every night and there Neil Diamond show was extraordinary! Our cruise director, Gio, was always entertaining. Our "Hero" was Carl of the Bar waiter staff. What a wonderful young man with a great personality and wonderful service. The specialty dining was equal to some of the finest restaurants we have eaten in. La Bistro went the extra mile and sang "Let Me Call You Sweetheart" and presented us with a cake for our anniversary. I was amazed how smoothly everything went from the time we arrived at the pier until we disembarked at the end of the week. Norwegian sure has the systems down pat! A job well done by the entire crew! Read Less

Crew members went above and beyond expectations. Great time with 21 friends and family and made new friends. Wish we would have had more time in Bermuda as I wanted to visit at least one more beach. I would definitely do it again. No Sea sickness. Great Cruise. Shows were spectacular. I truly think that hitting the jackpot at Bingo is pretty hard to hit within 47 numbers called. They really should bring that up a bit. No one hit any of the jackpots out of all the Bingos that went on in my trip. That would help somewhat as it is very expensive to play. Overall that is about all I have to complain on, other then the Bingo. it was a really great trip. I met a lot of new people and saw a lot of talented crew members. They work really hard to make everyone happy and enjoy their stay. Read Less

My uncle chose this cruise and invited me to join them. I'm sooo glad he did. The Dawn is a clean ship with great food and entertainment. The best part was the staff. Everyone one of them appeared to LOVE their job! Everyone of them was smiling and always so helpful. I've not felt like this on some other ships. I even asked the hotel manager and some of the other department heads at our question and answer gathering, how that was possible. I was told, that they the crew were like family and everyone did get along. This was my first experience dining in the specialty restaurants. We tried out 4 of them and were very pleased with each choice. I even participated in a wine tasting without my family members, but did not feel like the odd man out. Now I'm willing to try more things on my own. It didn't hurt that we got to spend 4 days in Bermuda either..... Even the weather cooperated. Read Less

I have been on 5 cruises 2 of witch have been out of Boston. Getting to Black Falcon is fairly easy and parking is very close. Either in the lot along side the terminal make sure not to park under a lamp post the seagulls are very abundant and your vehicle will be covered in poo. The Garage is across the street. Cruise parking is on the 5th level and both places charge $140 for the week and that is for cruisers only. Getting on the ship is fairly easy but can take some time. If you are Gold, Platnum or a Suite guest but not the mini suits you may use the expedited line to board. The ship has been remodeled and done very tastefully . The pallet is very nice and not flashy like some cruise lines can be. The crew is always willing to help and very friendly. The ship is very clean except for the occasional plastic drink cup but i chalk this up to the lack of trash receptacles. Dinning was delicious at all the dinning venues. The free as well as all a cart restaurants had a good selection of food to choose from. the Main dinning room had Lobster and certain steaks to order at a price, Unfortunately NCL has gone to a nickle and dime attitude for the restaurants. Rest assure there are plenty of complimentary items to choose from if you don't want to spend extra at your meals. Entertainment was wonderful and the times were very fitting. 7 and 9. I loved the crew talent show and the magic shows. Service was excellent my water glass was always full and our daughter had her meal right on time so as not to get out of hand. Our daughter was 2 during this cruise. The excursions were very interesting and informative. I did find the prices to be high though compared to last years prices. The port was wonderful we were docked for 3 days. Very easy to get on and off the ship. Customs only needed the ship key and pass port or driver license. They needed a picture ID. As mentioned before we cruised with our 2 year old daughter who had a blast with the passengers and crew. Only thing is there is no clubs for 2 year old or younger children. There is a play area for the kids and parents and activities for them but the child needs a parent to attend with them. I guess what im trying to say is if you want private time with a 2 year old or younger it wont happen unless you brought a sitter. Read Less

We love this itinerary, for us it's very convenient living only 45 minutes away, no airports to contend with. We pull right up to the porters station unload the luggage and then we walk up the "to ship" escalator. Very easy, very safe, and police everywhere, no need to worry about any safety issues at all. Our boarding time was between 10-10:30 we were processed in under 10 minutes and were on board by 11:30. This was our 4th year in a row and generally we go in October. We find the weather is a few degrees cooler in Bermuda late fall and the rug rats are in school. The refurbish came out great! The TV has more info at your finger tips, but you can not make restaurant reservations or view the restaurant menus which I find very convenient on other cruise lines. This was my 14th cruise and I find for the money its worth it. The food quality was an improvement over the last few years........especially the deserts. The entertainment was very good, we saw the David Di Vinchi magic/elements show, seems like they merged the two and it was very good. Jose and Patti in the Grand Atrium were very, very good! Bermuda is absolutely beautiful, I've cruised there 4 times flown there twice. Lots to see and do there. I prefer this island/country over the entire Caribbean and I've virtually been all through it, no contest. The pricing for this itinerary has increased 20% over last year and I didn't see any added value for the increase but it's what it is. Probably going back to Alaska out of Seattle next year instead, we feel with the increase it competes price wise with the Alaskan cruise. We always get a balcony generally starboard (right) forward deck 10 it's quite close to the forward elevators and theater, restaurants, pool and deck 10 passes from the front of the ship directly to the back of the ship without any jogging up and down shifting etc. Read Less

This was my 12th or 13th cruise, second with NCL. I chose it based on the size of the cabin and rate for this trip to Bermuda. We had a Deluxe Owner's Suite, Cabin 12500. We also had the the Ultimate Dining Package and Ultimate Beverage Package, which was extremely convenient. I loved not having to sign a receipt for every drink, and keep track of expenses all week. The only thing that may be kind of annoying is the upcharges, but they didn't bother us. My husband ordered some drinks that were not included, but it didn't matter much at all, they would charge a small fee like $2 or $3 for those. I think it can be very confusing to know what is included and what's not. We dined at every one of the specialty restaurants. I always had to ask what our ultimate dining package included, sometimes I wasn't sure if we would have extra charges, it was confusing. But I found all of them to be great. We are foodies, so I was worried about the quality of the food, some other lines we haven't had great food. But we found this cruise to have very good food, and exceptional service at the specialty restaurants. We loved having the suite and being able to dine at Cagney's or Moderno for breakfast, we really don't like crowds. We did go to the buffet quite a bit for lunch, just because it was easier. The kids program was phenomenal. Our kids loved to go there, especially for the circus performance they put on. It was really, really adorable. I loved when they sang at the end. It was so special, and such a great memory for our family. The kids program was not open all of the time, our kids generally went from 7-10pm, but did go some early times too. They made some really great friends, and the staff was so nice!! They did also spend some time in the arcade, but that can add up really quick. We did like playing monopoly and checkers from the library also. The pools were not overtaken with children, except maybe the first day. I didn't find the cruise to be packed with kids. The first sea day was more kids than usual in the main pool, and I can see that as being hard on some of the adults without children, but the problem that day was the kiddie pool area was closed for the day. Believe me, I would much rather my younger children being in the kiddie pool area, than in a pool of 6ft water that was waving. We didn't get to experience the kids pool until days 6&7 after being in Bermuda for two days, and one day of high winds when we left Bermuda and the pools were closed. I watched my kids right from the edge of the pool, most kids were most definitely supervised. There were some kids jumping in the pool even though there is no jumping allowed, I did tell some of those kids to stop because someone could get hurt. Also, I can't be in two places at once, and since this ship is kind of awkwardly set up and my older kids were too old for the kiddie pool, but still needed to be watched, we did spend some extra time at the main pool. There were always chairs available away from the pool that I found to be really relaxing, when our kids were at the kids program. I would say though that if you are worried about children, this is probably not the ship for you unless you go on a week that there are no school breaks. This week there was school break for Columbus Day and Yom Kippur, so there may have been more kids that normal, but nothing like you'd experience in the summer. Or you can always book a cruise that has adult only areas and pools, which many of them do. The ship can accommodate families really well, with family suites and the owner's suites, so I would highly recommend this ship to families. And all of the staff on the ship were exceptionally nice to my children, and I appreciated that. This cruise line is very good for families, I felt. I really liked the ship, aside from some of the bathrooms, I felt it was very clean and looks great. I didn't see it before the refurb, but I think they did a good job with it and I was happy. I like the smaller ships with my family, its much easier. The ship does have an awkward layout and it took me a few days to figure out the best way to get to the spa and the kids program. Being on deck 12, it was easy to get to the pool, I did get tired of walking through the buffet, which seemed to be the way from our cabin to the kids program. Getting to the kids pool from the main pool was a bit difficult to figure out. I ended up at the arcade a lot, or the gym, which I obviously did not want to walk through with wet kids. Bermuda was beautiful as always. We spent half a day all alone at Sea glass beach, in calm perfectly blue water. We did witness someone come and try stealing sea glass. Please if you go to this beach, be respectful and don't steal it! We spent the other half the day at Jobson's Cove. Only a handful of people and perfect for the kids and grown ups. Lots of major strong waves in Bermuda due to Nicole, and we were glad to be in calm water. The next day we went to Tobacco Bay, which was also wonderful. We did some great snorkeling there. We did miss the ferry to St. George's, had to take a ferry to Hamilton, then a bus to St. George's, then walk to Tobacco Bay, that ate up a lot of our time, but I was glad my family got to see more of the island (I have been to Bermuda several times). We did not do shore excursions with the ship, just bought two day bus/ferry passes and went where we wanted to go. We liked all of the specialty restaurants, but our favorites were Teppanyaki and Los Cobos. Le Bistro was probably our least favorite, not that it was bad, but not suberb like the rest. My husband loved La Cucina. The steakhouses were really good too, but his steak was always overcooked, he felt. The hostess at Teppanyaki was wonderful. I didn't like though that the picture they take there cannot be part of the photo package, it was a separate charge. Embarkation and Disembarkation was a complete breeze. We waited for neither, since we were in the suite, they got us on and off really quickly. We were home by 11:30 am, we live a couple of hours away. We had breakfast at Cagney's, got to where we needed to meet the other suite members, and just off. Very easy. My biggest issue with this cruise was their lack of knowledge of food allergies. I have two children with allergies to nuts, and my two nephews who were traveling with us are also allergic to nuts. I had spoken to NCL repeatedly about their food allergies, and they kept assuring us that we would have know what was safe. I talked to a Personal Cruise Consultant before we sailed who told me she has children with severe food allergies, and assured me that NCL is great with allergies, and even at the buffet they would be able to eat because there would be labels. On other lines, we only ate at the dining room due to the allergies, but were excited that this ship seemed to be food allergy friendly. It was not. Most of the staff knew nothing about what was in any food, even in the dining room and restaurants. Nothing was labeled with allergens. There was one sous chef, Mohammed, who was wonderful, and the only one I trusted, honestly. Even our butler brought chocolate covered strawberries, covered with nuts to our cabin. I informed him of the allergy, and he didn't bring us nuts again, but I felt that should have been something they already knew. It was in all of our information. We also got conflicting information from different staff. Some would look at us like they had no idea what we were talking about if we mentioned their nut allergy. I would be a little hesitant booking this ship if you have a severe food allergy. We had a wonderful time on this cruise!! Read Less

Since we live close by this cruise is so easy to do. A thirty minute cab ride and we're on the ship. It was easy getting off the last day and we were home quickly. The owners suite with two balconies is our favorite cabin. We love the extra space and the two balconies gives us options depending on weather, wind etc. The only negative was a hard surface couch. It had no give (or bounce) when you sat on it. Everything else was great with a large bed, beautiful bathroom with double sinks, separate shower and jet bathtub. Most of our dining was in specialty restuarants and our favorite was LaCucina followed by Cagney's. We thought LeBistro was not as great as in the past, since it moved to the former LaCucina space. We liked the intimate atmosphere of the old spot. Now it is larger and less intimate. The service was very good throughout the ship and we never waited long for a meal or drink. Even the buffet was easy to navigate. I have to say we had our best butler ever. He was very attentive to our needs and listened to our requests, so we always had what we needed when we needed it. We liked most of the changes the Dawn went through on its recent drydock. The feel is mostly earth tones and works well. The pool space is still crowded, especially on sea days, but lounge furniture and pool loungers were added and are a nice addition. On the down side, we were sorry they eliminated the shrimp cocktail in Cagney's for the suite lunch and lobster was taken off the LeBistro menu. Although we had a dining plan we didn't like the change to a la carte. It can limit you if you're paying the charge compared to the set fee they used to charge. Bermuda, as always, was amazing. We like to beach it, so we were at Horseshoe early each morning (8:30). At that hour it was us and the locals. The beach Is quiet and the view is awesome. The beach does get crowded as the morning advances, but if you go to the far end (to your left) it is still quiet. The Dawn has always treated us well and we'll be back on her in April of next year. Embarkation in Boston was very easy. Arrived at the port at 10:15. Was through check in and in the holding area by 10:30. Staff at port directing cruisers to the appropriate holding areas seemed a bit overwhelmed. Perhaps they could have had a bit more help. As we are Gold latitudes members, we boarded son after all special needs and Platinum members, at around 11:45 or so. Went to our room to drop off carry on bags. Met our room attendant, Charlie, one of our cruise heroes. He made our trip especially pleasant. Very friendly all week. Kept the room immaculate and made great towel animals all week. Always a kind word when we met him in the hallway. He seemed to be there all the time. Very hard worker! Went to Venetian - our vacation was under way! Had a very good lunch. In fact all our meals at Venetian, where we ate breakfast each morning and Dinner a few evenings were great. We opted for a-la-carte items one night. Steak and Lobster tail. Was very good, although tail was a bit small. Overall, food was very good. Had lunch at O'Sheehan's most days. Food very good pub style fare. Service was good! Only had a couple of salads for lunch at Garden Café. Everything was fresh. Had one meal at Aqua. Very good. My wife again ordered a-la-carte. This time twin lobster tails. Very good! We had the 3 meal UDP. Ate at Teppanyaki one night- very good! Great show! Dessert only fair, though. We were a bit disappointed with Le Bistro. Menu selections were lacking. My wife ordered some kind of duck and got basically, duck meat loaf. Not good. I don't even remember what I had. Ambiance totally lacking since this restaurant swapped locations with La Cuccina. Cagny's. Showed up at 7:25 for a 7:30 reservation. Were told to wait in the Mojito bar for a few minutes until our table was ready. At 8:10 I went to the hostess to see about our table. Was told "I didn't know where you went". Mind you, there were only two couples sitting at the bar. At any rate, we met some nice people at the bar. We were seated immediately. Sat next to another nice couple. We actually spent the rest of the night with them. Maybe the wait was meant to be. Food was very good. Service was very good. The one thing we missed was the poolside barbeques. Always enjoyed them, in the past. Not sure if they are gone fleetwide, but, the new deck design on the Dawn left no room for it. Entertainment was great. There was something going on all the time, everywhere. In fact, there was so much entertainment, we didn't get to see it all. Everything we saw was very good. Great comedian, Jose and Patty, Tenors of Rock, White Party, Bliss Lounge, theater shows were all very enjoyable. Assistant cruise directors Dan and Shirley were outstanding! Bought thermal spa passes. Overall, enjoyed the spa, but, was crowded at times. This was not what we expected after reading other reviews. Hard to get the heated loungers. Just like at the outdoor pool, a lot of relaxed towels reserving the seats. We did enjoy the place to ourselves while the ship was docking in Bermuda. We watched the Anthem of the Seas limping into port after going through another "hurricane" experience. In fact it brought dark clouds, thunder and lightning along with it. Oh well, gave us more time in the spa until after the storm cleared. Hot tub and relaxation pools are very hard to get into. Have been to Bermuda many times, so never ventured too far from the ship on this cruise. Bermuda is beautiful. We have already made reservations for our next Bermuda cruise. Overall, great cruise. Smooth seas for the most part. Somehow, we sailed around Hurricane Hermine and felt very little effect. One rough night at sea on the way back to Boston, but, nothing scary. Loved the new design of the Dawn. Lots of beautiful new looks, everywhere. More muted colors than before. More seating at the pool. Never had a problem getting a lounge chair near the pool, sometimes on deck 13, but, could still see/hear poolside entertainment. Earlier reviews spoke of long waits at the bar. We never a problem getting a drink. At the meet and greet, we were told they had been working on that. They now have a beer cart going around on sea days and a Bahama Mamma bar near the pool. Loved the UBP! A bit of a problem with a future reservation made by the Cruise Next director. Made the reservation for the wrong year. Trying to get the issue resolved now. Hoping I won't lose the perks. Disembarkation was a breeze. Had a relaxing breakfast. Checked out of our room and waited at O'Sheehans until our color was called. Watched all of those people waiting in the express walkoff line for a very long time. As we are Gold, when yellow as called, we went to the theater and were escorted off the ship. From the time our color was called until we had our bags was about 15 minutes. Will never do that "Express" routine again. Easy drive home from the port. Can't wait for our next cruise! Read Less

The specialty restaurants were excellent and the Bamboo and Aqua had terrific food and service. There were a guy and his wife playing nightly in the Atrium that were off the charts good (they performed 60's and 70's music on different nights...the guy sounded just like Niel Diamond!!). Boarding and disembarking went remarkably well and quick. Entertainment in theater was pretty good. The only complaint I have is the public rest rooms. Although they were pretty clean; they seemed to have issues with need of repair. Stalls were frequently out of order and left unable to flush. Again, the service in all parts of the ship was fantastic. We had a very smooth ride. Read Less

Went on this cruise with my cousins. Our group was early to mid twenties, and this cruise was FANTASTIC! Everyone had a blast. Living right outside of Boston we were able to be drop off right at the pier where there was someone waiting to take our bags. Boarding was a breeze. Once on the boat, there was truly something for everybody, from game shows and the casino for the gambler in our crew, or all sorts of activities during the day from trivia to mr. Sexy legs by the pool, no body ever once said they were bored. Even though I preferred laying by the pool with a drink in my hand. And with two bars near by made the wait minimal. The shows in the evenings were amazing we only missed one all week. We definetly recommend not missing the comedy shows, the second city group on the boat is hilarious!! Food was delicous from the buffet, to the Venetian all around great food. And we loved Not having a set meal time so there was no rush to get off the pool deck and to dinner on time, instead we left when ready and took our time showering and getting ready. And with three girls sharing 1 bathroom and straightener that was definetly a huge plus. Bliss Ultra lounge was soo much fun at night, its huge and the bar tenders always on point. And having osheeans open all night made for the perfect late night snack afterwards. All the staff was all fantastic but Dan, Jaime and shake it Shirley were most definetly our favorites, definetly made our week unique and a blast! All around a blast already planning for next time!!!
