I chose the cruise due to friends recommendations. It was a simple drive to Boston parked very close to the ship check in was easy. We sat and relaxed waiting until we could board. I had brought magazines to read as I knew we would be waiting awhile. the online information was good. I read everything I could online. Then we boarded the ship it was lovely! we had not been on vacation as a couple for a long time and anxiety was high would we like cruising? Would we be bored? We went to the Venetian for a lovely sit. Down lunch. My husband had a burger and an apitizier of potato stuffed with crab I had meatloaf wrapped with bacon it was great service was excellent. We then were able to go to our cabin 9096 a balcony it was clean everything was in good working order our steward was always cleaning keeping clean towels and so polite! The weather was cold and rainy all the way to Bermuda but we signed up for the thermal spa suite great idea! The lap pool, hot tubs, and sauna were well enjoyed! The heated lounge seats where you can watch the wake of the ship while reading was so relaxing! It made the sea day so much fun I was pretty maxed out on my budget so I didn’t get any other spa services but it looked lovely and the staff seemed great. One other thing I really enjoyed was the entertainment. Shows were short and lively. The Canvas by U classes were fun and priced a little high but it was so convenient taking a painting class on the ship. I swam with dolphins Read Less

My husband and I wanted to go to Bermuda again, we were there in 2010, on the Spirit, and really enjoyed ourselves. We love Bermuda and this was our 4th cruise on the the Dawn. Boston is our hometown so this cruise is perfect for us. Our balcony cabin was excellent! The food was very good. We ate dinner at Cagney's, Le Bistro, La Cucina and the Bamboo which were all excellent. We ate breakfast in the Venetian main dining room most mornings and Lunch at the Garden Cafe or O'Sheeghans Pub. The entertainment and activities were plentiful and very good. The service on the ship was great! We walked around King's Wharf and the Royal Dockyard on Sunday. Our excursion to the Crystal Caves, on Monday, was wonderful. We also visited the Aquarium, Museum and Zoo on our excursion which was fun We were dropped off in Hamilton at the end of the excursion so we ate lunch on the balcony of the Pickled Onion. Love that restaurant. We took the Ferry back to King's Wharf. I had a Dolphin Encounter, on Tuesday at Dolphin Quest, which was so much fun. Dolphins are so smart and awesome to interact with. Highly recommend this excursion that I booked through Dolphin Quest, Bermuda. on their website. We would love to go again some day. Read Less

I want to give a HUGE shout out to our butler, Jane Sartin, our concierage, Roel Gonzales and our room steward, Jun Sornito... They were incredible!!!!!! My in-laws were traveling with my wife and I, and they had the time of their life. My mother in law is sick, and this was a bucket list trip for her. I'm am so glad for her and my father in law to have been able to experience this trip. My wife was so happy to know that they had a great time...... Food was great!!! As i mentioned before, it will be hard not to spend the extra money for the perks you get booking a suite. I'll be back in another one before I know it!!!! Read Less

This was our 1st cruise. This was a “Cruise of a Lifetime!” We were upgraded to a Deluxe Owners Suite (12002) and the views/perks/amenities with that suite were AMAZING! I was initially worried/warned about the size of the bathrooms on a cruise ship because I’m a big guy. I needed the large “Luxury” bathroom and was completely satisfied with the size of the shower in the suite. We experienced “Priority” Embarkation/Disembarkation which came with the suite. ~20 minutes on/off the ship, Wow !!! The ship was clean/shiny, the food was GREAT, the entertainment was also good, and the service was really exceptional! We really liked the having several days at sea, several days in Bermuda, and several days at sea on the way back. It gave us a lot of time to explore the ship, explore Bermuda and relax. We weren't in a hurry to do anything. We will do this cruise again! Very Happy Customer! Read Less

The ship is beautiful, and the staff is so friendly and helpful. There were plenty of on board activities throughout the week. The entertainment staff keeps you on your toes and laughing through the entire week, the shows and performers were all amazing. We dined at the Venetian, Aqua, and Bamboo The food was delicious, sometimes it took a bit for us to get our food after ordering however we also went at busy times .Restaurant staff was friendly and attentive. We ended our nights at Bliss Lounge and enjoyed the fun there. The DJ played some of the same songs night after night, but we still had a ton of fun. The only thing we didn't like was the pool deck area was taken over by children a lot of the time, and the hot tubs would have been much more enjoyable if there wasn't many children in them. I love the freestyle cruising. Not having set meal times becaues you never know what you are going to be doing. All the meals were wonderful. Never had more then a 10 minute wait. Ate in 3 of the speacial restaurants and they were the best. All of the staff really cares about you and if you are having a good time. Our room was small but had adequate storage. When we do this again I think we would leave the beds separated as they have that bunk on the wall on one side and I worried about hitting it with my shoulder every time I got in and out of bed. Wish the bathroom was a bit larger too. Only disappointment was we didn't get a towel animal on the first night and no monkey towel. We had our money coffee and snacks delivered everyday and thst guy was awesome. Also I have to compliment Justine for getting us a great room and with the actual booking experience. With our upgrade to a porthole room so we could actual see the sea. I wish the weather would have been warmer. The disembarkation from the ship was easy and right by our room. Embarkation at take off was pretty quick and smooth and getting on after being in Bermuda. I guess the disembark from ship when we arrived at home port in Boston was ridiculous. Not sure why they give you a time because by the time we were supposed to get off, we would have been about 2 hours back in the line that winds through the ship and would have missed our bus to the airport. Lots of entertainment and activities to keep you busy. The one and only port was Bermuda which was great. We saw parts of the island on our own.we will definitely go again. I love cruising. My wife and I wanted to celebrate her finishing her Bachelor's degree and our anniversary. Since we live close by Boston we wanted to sail out of Boston. I heard a lot of terrible stories about embarkation but ours was really smooth. Our cabin was an interior cabin. It was great for the two of us. It says you could sleep four but I think more than two would be too cramped. Storage space is limited, I think next time I would pack less and if I needed I could wash clothes on the ship. There is a great special of $20 a laundry bag while at port. The first day at sea the waters were pretty rough, but we were a bit concerned not knowing if this was the norm. We asked around and everyone assured us this was the exception and sailing was much smoother the second night and day. We encountered another round of bad weather on the way home but it was again only one night and part of the day until things got back to normal. The food was mixed. The complimentary dining had some bright spots, some different/strange (to us), and some bad. The buffet dining for breakfast and lunch was 50/50 some things were amazing like the breads and the fruit, the warm was the best I can say for hot foods. My biggest tip is get the omelette, if you want eggs the pre made eggs were always cold and not good. the omelette was great cooked to order and very good, it is just at the end of the buffet. The food at the Venetian was average. I ordered the stuffed potato skins for an appetizer, which to be honest was pretty good, but was not what I expected. The menu said with lump crab stuffing, which ended up being like crab salad (tuna salad but with crab) which was very good. the potato skin was cooked as expected but it was cold, again tasted great but not what was expected (I did eat them separately). The specialty restaurants were a different story. The best was the French restaurant, the Brazilian steakhouse, followed closely by Cagney steakhouse and the Teppanyaki. All four place are amazing but the first two just set new highs in standards. The Mexican food was typical Mexican cuisine although the guacamole made at the table was amazing and the corn cut off the cob at the table for a side was incredible and I am not a fan of corn. The entertainment, activities and service were amazing. It really exemplified what customer service should be. Even at the places that we didn't care for the food service was great. The entertainment was amazing, even on the rough days the entertainment was the best. Doing gymnastics and the such while the ship was rocking a bit can not be easy. All of the staff tried to make sure you were enjoying everything. From all the house keeping staff saying hello, and good morning, to the bar staff remembering our names, to the bands encouraging us to dance by waving us up, they all wanted you to have fun and enjoy their ship. The ship itself was so clean I was shocked at how clean it was kept. Our room steward was great answering any questions and talking to us and asking us questions to help get our answers. That is not even considering what amazing service he did by cleaning up the room every morning and the turn down service every evening. The faculty really made the whole cruise wonderful, we did not have one even average encounter with any of them which is amazing everything was above average to amazing. The Island of Bermuda is beautiful. Such gorgeous scenery and beaches. We did two excursions, the Horseshoe Bay transfer and the Gosling Rum Cruise. If you like sampling rums and seeing the scenery this is great for you. I loved it and would so go again, my wife enjoyed it but would not go again, she just does not like rum that much. The Horseshoe Bay transfer was a great learning experience for us. First, our bus driver was amazing, and Horseshoe Bay was wonderful. The only bad part is you only get three to three and a half hours there. For less money you can purchase a bus pass for the day and stay all day. There are some great deals right off the boat for public transportation (buses and ferries) for less than excursions if you just want explore. We are already looking at booking another cruise with Norwegian from Boston to Bermuda in 2019 and bringing more of the family. Read Less

I first cruised to Bermuda in in 1962 aboard the USCG Cutter Unimak. Our bunks were 3 high, had to eat at specific times and stand your 4 hour watches. We were there for repairs to our hurricane damaged 311 foot cutter and had to stay 5 days at St George. It was such a beautiful place I put it on my bucket list. WOW what a wonderful experience and with so much class. My grandson and I shared a gorgeous and commodious cabin and didn't have to swab the deck nor clean the head. The food was tremendous and we didn't have to stand in line nor do KP. No watch standing unless it was to watch the porpoises, the sunrises and sunsets. I felt like the captain of the cutter I was on but had no responsibilities except to enjoy. Anyone wanting to experience life at sea needs to do it on a Norwegian Cruise. I encouraged my grandchildren to memorize "I must go down to the sea again" by John Masefield while on the trip. Read Less

We just returned from Bermuda on the NCL Dawn out of Boston. I cannot say enough about the GREAT service on board! The employees that we interacted with were spectacular! They were helpful and friendly! Our room steward on deck 10 (Pergreso) was the best room steward we’ve ever had on any cruise and we let him know it! I literally gave him a list of requests the minute we arrived; they were filled immediately with a smile! We had towel animals every night and the room was kept immaculate!! He was rewarded with an extra cash bonus at the duration of our trip……..he went above and beyond the call of duty and he deserved it!! NCL has definitely improved on the deserts and food. There was definitely a wider variety of food selections to choose from. We had the dinner package, one of our choices was Cagney’s…..well……… what’s there to say about Cagney’s? If you choose this restaurant for your entire trip this dinner package you will not be disappointed! Cagney’s was absolutely unforgettable!!!Teppanyaki was a good show…but if you’ve seen one you’ve seen them all, the food was also good! The waiter service in the main dining room was the BEST! They worked very hard and we never had and empty glass of water…. they were on their game for sure!!!! The shows were ok…….I do not cruise for the shows, but there were a wide variety to choice from. Our weather was good, we had a little chop arriving, a little rain, but that’s it, absolutely nothing to complain about and it wasn’t anything that could be controlled. The weather in Bermuda was good…….little light rain on arrival for 1 day and clouds on the second day and partly sunny on our last day. I’ll take a rainy day in Bermuda over a sunny day in Boston any day of the week :) The cruise on the way back was slow and calm the whole way. This was our best cruise on NCL to date! We have just booked our next cruise back to Bermuda in October 2018 however….. NCL will be doing a partial schedule next year and will be moving down to San Juan permanently in 2019. So we will be taking the Royal Caribbean Serenade of the Seas leaving on Sunday and returning on the following Sunday. I love this departure time better……………….why? NO traffic into or out of Boston!!!! I’m a gold card member on Royal Caribbean already and looking forward to a change and comparison. The two ships are Radiance class basically the same size and amount of decks. Yes, we love deck 10 forward!! Why deck 10? Nice and Quiet, near the forward elevator, deck 10 is one deck that runs from the very front to the very back of the ship without the elevator jogging fiasco, it’s isolated from the garden café’ chair dragging noise by deck 11 and it’s close to our muster station in the theater. It’s also 2 floors down from the pool and café’. We find this a great location for our needs and get it every year! Embarkation and Disembarkation was a dream, we arrived at 10:15am and were boarded by 11:30!!! We always get the earliest arrival time and take the latest 10:00am disembarkation time, by then everyone’s long gone no fighting the lines, luggage search etc. The only luggage in the terminal left is ours, grab and go! No traffic at 11:00 on Friday so it’s a smooth sail out of Boston. I love the NCL free ferry service!!!!! It’s a beautiful Australian 55m fast ferry Catamaran very, very convenient and friendly crew! Watch your receipts! We did have a charge on our bill that was not ours, but NCL corrected it immediately without any hassle! It happens; we keep all our slips and check them off one by one. Love this time of the year.... no kids to deal with in the Jacuzzi or the pool. Read Less

Easiest cruise ever. We drove to Boston, parked on the pier, and walked onto the ship. A little concerned about the days at sea, but the shipboard entertainment was excellent and the food and drink was plentiful, so the days at sea were very enjoyable. The piano man, Jose and Patti, the pool area activities, and of course the shows in the Stardust Theater were the best. Bermuda was very nice. We loved walking around St. George’s. Took the local bus to Hamilton, which was not very touristy. Spent a day walking around the Naval Dockyard area and going in the shops and mall. Went snorkeling at Horseshoe Bay Beach which was very nice. Beautiful sandy beach and warm water (mid 70’s) to swim in. Glass bottom boat ride into the Bermuda Triangle at night was very fun. Went over a shipwreck and saw marine life. Onboard our butler, Henry, was great. Our cabin was always made up perfectly. Overall a great trip! Read Less

I live in Boston and it was great to find a cruise leaving from my home town. I have cruised many times, but I have never been on NCL. I was very pleasantly surprised. I shared a suite with 2 of my girlfriend. My friends have done this cruise before and convinced to go with them. The Dawn had been updated since their last cruise on her. The ship was clean, and since I don’t know what the ship looked like before, I thought it looked great. All of the common ares were clean and well maintained Our suite was wonderful. The bed and pillows were perfect. Our cabin steward, Arnold was great. Aside from leaving us adorable towel animals. He kept our cabin immaculate. I did have one incident with the shower not draining, and the water overflowed leaving the bathroom floor soaked. Arnold took care of things and and when came back after breakfast, the bathroom looked like nothing ever happened. We ate at 3 specialty restaurants, but the food in the dinning room was just as good. My only complaint about the dinningroom was the paintings. They were truly awful. Our favorite dessert was the molten lava cake with chocolate shaved vanilla ice cream and strawberries. I could probably have had it for my main meal. One activity that I never did on other ships was paint classes. We had so much fun. I’m certainly not an artist. My first painting was not great, but my second attempt turned out really good. My favorite game was deal or no deal. The entertainment was also very good. The ships singers and dancers were very talented. I also enjoyed the Second City comedy from Chicago. It was a very funny improv group. My favorite singing duo was Jose & Patti. They sang songs from country to rock. My favorite performance was their tribute to Neil Diamond. The service was outstanding. The crew was friendly and helpful. Embarkation and debarkation were very easy because we were with the suite group. Bermuda is beautiful and has a lot to offer. I have been there many times. Horseshoe Bay is my favorite beach with its pink sand. I would certainly recommend this cruise and N C L Dawn. I had a perfect week Read Less

Traveled on NCL before and was happy with their programs, excursions, and cost. The food has always been good. Bermuda was fantastic! We did not buy shore excursions since the transportation was right where the ship docked to take you to the beach for $14/couple. The ship was clean, as well as our room. Our room steward, Larry, was exceptional. He got a sizable tip beside the amount the ship charges. The room issue had me worried for awhile, but when the room service manager comes and stands over the workers to see it is done right, your worrys are gone. All the staff was courteous and wanting to please. They did everything possible to prevent germs and sickness. The ship was extremely clean, and there were plenty of germs sanitizers strategically placed for everyone’s use. Larry was such a blessing. He tried to please and perfect everything, every day. Annual Bermuda cruise in October to celebrate our anniversary (6th cruise) from the port of Boston. Our favorite cruise due to the ease of travel to/from Boston. Bus from Portland Maine to South Station then subway to port. Embarkation went well until the security checkpoint, it was a real bottleneck. Once on aboard all went well. The NCL Dawn is a very nice ship, especially since it's renovations in 2016. The Officers and crew are all very friendly and helpful. Can't speak for the meals in the main dining rooms, but I can say the the meals from La Cucina (calamari app and veal marsala) and Cagney's (oysters app and NY sirloin strip) were outstanding !! The buffet had a large assortment of food to cater to everybody and is a great opportunity to try different foods. Plenty of activities onboard and the entertainment was very good, especially the magician. For the first time in 20+ cruises the casino was not in a smog of cigarette smoke.... how refreshing !!!!!! Kings Wharf is an interesting starting point as it has a couple of pubs, glassblowing shop, museum, shops, ferry and bus stop all within a short walk from the pier. All in all, this is a great relaxing cruise, a few days at sea and a few days in port. We did the "walk-off" disembarkation which went smoothly. Read Less

This was our first cruise on NCL. Overall, we enjoyed the ship, the food and the entertainment and had a great time. The Ship The layout did take a bit of getting used to. We had to learn what decks you could go all the way through on and how to get to certain places. I also think the layout makes the ship feel slightly crowded in some places. But that being said, we really liked it and found it easy to navigate once we learned a few tricks. The one place that was consistently a zoo was the pool deck. Since the weather was cooler, hubby and I got spa passes and just used the hot tubs there instead of the pool deck and that for us is a good choice. The pool deck just wasn’t my thing. But if you like a hopping atmosphere 24/7 you’ll love it, we just preferred something more relaxing. Also for some reason deck 6 in front of Aqua was always packed with people. Also elevators were hard to come by at peak times. The Cabin We originally chose an inside cabin. We bid on a balcony and got it 9 days before the cruise. We ended up in a mid-ship balcony on deck 9 near the elevators which we LOVED. The location could not have been better. Hubby and I take the stairs almost everywhere and being just a few floors up or down from wherever we were going was perfect. The balcony was small but covered. It was great because it meant we could use it a bit more. I loved the shower in this room. It’s an actual shower with a door, not a tube so that was good. The bed was comfortable and although I had read about thin walls and hearing our neighbors, we didn’t hear them, although I could sometimes when I was using the bathroom. We had a couple of kind of gross things happen involving housekeeping. Also we never saw our steward or really talked to him, he was always busy. But we didn’t really need him so it wasn’t a huge deal. The only real negative is that the room was totally noisy at night. The seas were a little rough and our entire sleep was filled with a cacophony of thumping, creaking, cracking, bumping—I have no idea what was going on but I couldn’t wait to get to Bermuda so I could finally sleep. Usually I love sleeping on a cruise ship but not in this room. I had to use earplugs the last two nights tohave any hope of sleeping at all. The only other negative was that BOTH of our neighbors smoked on their balconies. The Drinks We got the UDP with our promo and a 24-pack of water. Most of the drinks were pretty good I thought and most are well under $15. Hubby got a few classic cocktails and most were made well. There were a few times we paid the difference as we don’t mind paying a few dollars for something we really want. It was annoying though when I wanted something that was below $15 yet not included—that didn’t really make sense to me. If it only costs $2.95 or $8 then why can’t I just have it? Also it's a big negative that bottled water is not included. Drink service was ok, sometimes there were lines but usually it wasn’t a huge wait except at of course the pool bar. The Food Overall we liked the food on NCL a lot. We don’t usually do the buffet except for cereal at breakfast but the one time hubby had a hot breakfast there it was pretty good. Also the buffet was slightly less frenetic than most and we could always find a clean table. Service was always good too. With the other choices, we just didn't have to eat there very much. We ate at the MDR Venetian several times, service was great, we never had to wait, and we enjoyed everything we had there. I would say this was my favorite MDR experience on any cruise. We always walked right in with no wait. We did not have the SDP but we ate at 3 restaurants anyway. We made reservations at Cagney’s and Los Lobos and walked in to Le Bistro. Cagney’s was great, steaks were delicious. Los Lobos was my least favorite but still good. The tableside guac, appetizers and margaritas were yummy, mains were just OK. Also it was really busy and the servers seemed harried. Le Bistro I would give 3 stars as to what I got. It would have been nice to have dishes explained more beforehand. So my experience was just ok. Hubby’s escargot and bouillabaisse however was outstanding and worthy of a 5-star restaurant. Our waiter was great and we sat and talked with him for a long time. The restaurant is very pretty also. We ate at O’Sheehans for lunch and breakfast several times and it was good too. Hubby loved the wings! We also ate at Bamboo and it was ok but if you don’t get there right at 5:30 when they open, you won’t get in. We were also not able to walk in to La Cucina, it was a 30-minute wait at 8:00. We didn’t bother to eat at Teppanyaki because we eat hibachi a lot here at home and have seen the show many times. The Service Service in general was fine. It was adequate overall with a few standouts. I am used to more attentive service, more conversation, etc. and sometimes we did get that but overall it was more no-nonsense. Not rude, just take your order, here is your food, are you ok, then goodbye. I kind of got the feeling no one was really looking for tips so they just did what was required and that was it. Which is certainly ok, it’s just not what I’m used to. Some people may actually prefer that. The Entertainment The cruise director was Richard Matic. I have never even paid attention to the cruise director until this cruise. Richard was amazing. We loved him. He and his cruise staff kept the party going night after night and looked like they loved every minute. I was amazed how they could do it time after time and look like it was the first time ever. The production cast was also the best I have seen on a cruise. These were obviously talented dancers with training and the choreography was also the most difficult I had seen on acruise. We saw several shows which was new for us. We saw the Welcome Aboard Show (really fun), Band on the Run (ok, not my favorite), Elements (amazing), and Soul Duo (also amazing). We had wanted to see the magician but missed it. We don’t normally care for comedians so we didn’t go but we heard good things about the one on our cruise. If we didn’t see a show, we normally sat in a lounge and heard live music. There was music in almost every venue which we enjoyed. The Dailies were very informative. I don’t know if most people read the whole thing but there were some great tips and stuff in there. There was a ton to do—I felt like we did alot and there was still some things we didn’t get to. The Excursions We did two excursions through NCL and enjoyed them both. One was a sunset swizzle catamaran cruise that we did the first night in Bermuda. It was fun and the guide was informative. The swizzles weren’t the greatest but it’s always fun to be out on the water and we saw a great sunset. The second was Hidden Gems which we really wanted to do but since we did it the last day and it’s a 7-hour tour, we felt better about booking it through the ship which turned out to be a good idea. We had an absolute blast everywhere we went. Loved the suite, loved the dining, loved the gym, loved the spa, loved the entertainment and loved the staff. Always something to do, or more importantly, always nothing to do if that's what you needed. I find this cruise to be completely relaxing and after a week I find myself to be completely relaxed and rejuvenated. My wife and I celebrated our 50th anniversary while on the cruise and everyone on board tried there best to make it a special day. Patti and Jose, our favorite entertainers on the ship, even sang our wedding song for us to dance to...perfect. This was our fifth time on the Boston to Bermuda cruise and it will not be our last. I was very anxious watching the weather as we prepared for our trip and was worried it would be canceled or disastrous and despite the proximity to Hurricane Jose and Maria behind we had a great trip. The crew was accommodating and friendly. We had plenty to eat and drink with our meal and drink plan and there were varied restaurants allowing for variety. My favorite events on the ship were two wine tastings we attended (only $20 each), the black glass tasting and the wine and chocolate tasting; although I have to say the ariel acrobatic show was AMAZING. My sister and her girls actually do trapeze and have been to Cirque tons of times and expected to be less than impressed but we were very pleasantly surprised at how FANTASTIC that couple (I forget their names, I'm sorry) were - like WOW! Depsite the weather we did make it to Bermuda and made the most of it even though our scuba dive got canceled (which we understood completely; I had gotten scuba certified specifically for this trip with my sister but safety is more important), we had a blast. We made it to Horseshoe Beach before it was closed due to the storm. I particularly enjoyed the Swizzle Inn, yes, we then swaggered across the street to the Crystal Caves which were pretty cool. The final day in port we took a taxi to Hamilton and shopped (in our handy rain ponchos we purchased after getting soaked!) I wish the weather had been more cooperative but we appreciated the Captain's communications and trusted that we would be safe and we were. Our room had a balcony which I was SO happy we chose, we really enjoyed sitting out there with our morning coffee and reading later in the day..We had a fantastic time; thanks to all! Read Less

This was our first cruise in 30 yrs. We live 40 minutes from Boston, so it was very convenient. Originally, we purchased a picture window cabin on deck 5. We received an email to bid on an upgrade. A week before the cruise, my husband put a bid in for a balcony & a mini suite ($130 per person). We received a call 2 days before our trip, they didn't have anymore balcony or mini suites, but did have a family suite! So we jumped on it. We moved to the 12th deck with floor to ceiling windows, king size bed, huge double sink bathroom, for just an extra $230! It was amazing! Embarkation & disembarkation were a breeze. The ship was clean and updated. We dined at Cagneys (our favorite) unbelievable steak, Los Lobos, great Mexican food, & LaCucina , wonderful Italian food. The wait staff were terrific, very attentive and made sure everything was cooked the way we wanted it. The waiter, Sivakuma, at LaCucina, made suggestions and brought us appetizers that he thought we would like and he was right on the mark. Delicious! The Venetian was good too. The only restaurant that didn't impress us, was Bamboo. They took our order and we never heard from them afterwards. The food wasn't that great either. The entertainment was great, from the dancers, singers and illusionist. Never a bad seat in the house. You could never be bored, between the shows, games & music, there was something for everyone. The Cruise Director Richard was so energetic, upbeat and did a remarkable job. I don't think he ever slept! Throughout the ship at certain times you could stop and hear singers &pianist, very entertaining. The staff were amazing. Our Cabin steward Arnold, made sure we had clean towels (twice a day) and his towel animals were awesome. Our Butler , Rey , brought us snacks every afternoon, and made sure we had everything we needed. Bermuda was beautiful, we went to Horseshoe Bay the first day, we went by minibus ($7 per person one way) it was great. NCL has a complimentary ferry to St George, we used the second day. Overall that trip was amazing, the only thing I didn't like was the pool, rather small and people would be up at the crack of dawn to camp all day on one of the couches. But there was so much to do on the ship, that didn't effect us. I would definitely go on this ship again. I was a little concerned at first, because of Hurricane Irma in the Caribbean, but it was pretty much smooth sailing, a few rolls here and there, but nothing to be concerned with. Thank you NCL for a memorable trip, you get an A+ in my book! Read Less

My wife and I cruised from Boston to Bermuda on the Norwegian Dawn Friday September 8 – Friday September 15. It was a 50th anniversary present to my parents. My dad’s best friend and wife went with us too. We had a wonderful time. The Dawn is beautiful; the renovations were definitely worth it. Everything on the ship felt like it was tailored for the passenger. The food was delicious, well prepared, had a nice variety and was always available. We dined in The Venetian, Aqua, The Garden Café and Topsiders. We bought the soda package and only drank alcohol a few times – the alcohol was reasonably priced. I visited the fitness center three times and we did some on board shopping. We attended the shows, trivia gatherings, The Second City, Showdown, Deal or No Deal and several others. The performers are all very talented. We took an excursion to the Crystal Caves and the Zoo/Aquarium. The guide was very knowledgeable and courteous. We spent about 8-10 hours in the casino. We have visited about 150 casinos around the world and the Dawn Casino is nicer than so many land-based casinos. We like that the table game minimum bets are lower that our local casinos in Rhode Island and Connecticut. They have many of our favorite slot machines. The Dawn crew is excellent. Every single crew member we met was polite, smiling and helpful. They made the cruise so much more enjoyable. Kudos to the Captain and his leadership team! We thought about what we would change. There are only a few. 1. My wife thought it was too cold inside the ship in some places, most notably The Garden Café and the Library. My parents agreed about it being too cold in some locations and we heard a few other passengers make the same comment. I did not mind the inside temperatures (I like the cold) but I will agree that it could be considered chilly in The Garden Café and the Library would be uncomfortably cold to many people. 2. We attended several shows in the Bliss Lounge. It is very nice but too small for several of the shows that were hosted there. It was standing room only for the Thursday night shows. We also attended trivia games in the Gatsby’s Bar which was also too small for the people in attendance. 3. We would have preferred that the casino be non-smoking. We felt that the smoking room next to Gatsby’s Bar and smoking outside was ample room for those that like to smoke. I am happy to tell you that none of these three items will prevent us from booking another cruise with NCL or specifically on the Norwegian Dawn. The next time we plan a cruise vacation NCL will be the very first place we look. We will definitely recommend NCL to all of our friends and family. What a great vacation!! Read Less

We took this cruise as a last minute deal to get away from Hurricane Irma. Had a wonderful time on board. Shows were great, food way to good, and staff was friendly and hospitable. What a way to ride out the storm. The fine dining was great except for the way you now get a certificate and can only choose one salad-or- soup. In the main dining room, you can order whatever you want, as much, or little, as you like. Fine dining is limited and sometimes I'd love to have a soup and salad. You have to pay extra. Not quite worthwhile when the main dining and buffet areas have such fabulous items too. The port is so easy to get around - just walk off and you're already in a fort. Jump on the free water shuttle to go to St. George's. Overall a fabulous cruise. Love NCL. Read Less

We drove in from north central Massachusetts and parked at the open air lot near the terminal. I had first driven to the multi-level garage on Dry Dock Avenue and was givendirection to the long-term (cruise) parking lot. As some of you may recall from my previous reviews my wife does not travel on planes, buses, limos, taxis or anything that travels faster than It's a Small World ride at Disney World. The exceptions are a car, if she is driving or if she has taken her feel good pills and I drive at a slow speed and no highways or the train but not the Acela. This is our fourth cruise on the Dawn and definitely the best of them. EMBARKATION As we were booked in a suite we had use of the VIP Lounge and Priority Embarkation. The check-in process is the same for everyone but after that suite guests are ushered to the Lounge with finger food, coffee, tea and juice to await boarding. Once the ship is cleared for boarding we were whisked onto the ship. We were in board about 11:15. STATEROOM We were booked into a Family Suite on deck 12 (12512) which was ready upon our arrival. This is the same suite we have had on two previous cruises and it was like Old Home Week. Our Room Steward for the week, Rolando, came to our room within a minute of our arrival, introduced himself and asked if there was anything we needed. My wife who must have ice said "Yes, ice" Rolando removed the lid to the ice bucketand I knew this was going to be a good week...the bucket was full of ice and my wife had the biggest smile. Later in the day we met our butler, Gian. He was bringing a plate of hors d'oeuvres which he brought every afternoon. He also did a wonderful job keeping the refrigerator full of Pepsi. All we want on a cruise is to be pampered and Gian & Rolando fulfilled this need completely. The room is spacious and has plenty of storage and a wonderful space to call home for the week. DINING The food throughout the cruise was great in each of the venues we visited Venetian, Garden Café, Cagney's, Moderno, and Le Bistro. I have had problems on occasion with the Garden Café but this time around I was very pleased. Swapping space of Le Cucina and Le Bistro was a good idea. Le Bistro was previously crammed and loud. Much better this time. Also liked the move of the Moderno Restaurant. ENTERTAINMENT We did not attend any of the entertainment other than Jose and Patti in the Atrium. I really enjoy listening to them. On a previous cruise I had purchased their CD's and often listen to the cd's at home. CREW AND STAFF The staff on the Dawn were great. Lots of smiles and always saying hello and offering to serve. I don't recall where we were going but asked direction of a staff member who personally escorted to where we were trying to go. WOW that was a first. DIEMBARKATION As with embarkation, we had Priority Disembarkation and it went extremely smooth. CONCLUSION With exception of one issue which had nothing to do with the cruise this was an absolutely wonderful cruise. I have nothing to complain about and no suggestions to improve the experience. The ship was wonderful the crew and staff were wonderful the food was wonderful and Bermuda is as beautiful as ever. We are looking forward to again sailing next year in May and October on the Dawn Read Less

Chose this cruise from Boston to Bermuda instead of the Breakaway out on NY which had the same itinerary. We live 30 minutes from the NY pier and decided to drive 4 hrs to Boston because we were not happy at all with the Breakaway on our last cruise. We are so happy we did that!! What a great ship! Very EZ on and off the ship, No crowding at restaurants or buffet, Excelent staff. The food at all venues was better than all other NCL ships we have been on (Star Gem Breakaway). The food in the main dining rooms was so good it made the upcharge to the specialty restaurants not worth it, except for Cagneys, which was outstanding. The Rooms, Bathroom,Balcony, Hallways all were larger than on the Breakaway (which were all cramped) The mattress in our balcony room 10682 needs to be replaced. Was like sleeping in a bowl, sunken and worn out. The TV is to small and should be upgraded so it can be seen from the bed.Overall we are very happy with our cruise and will absolutely cruise this ship again. Read Less

The Dawn is a well maintained ship for its age. Layout can be confusing. It is keep very clean, in the cabins and public areas. Embarcation is easy if you are in a suite. Same for disembarcation. I cannot comment on the food other than Cagney's, which is great, and LaBistro, which has had some issues the last two years. Plenty of dining and bar choices. Entertainment is pretty good, but after several years of the same thing there should be some new offerings. Cruise director was pretty good this year. Overall service is excellent throughout the ship. Most staff are pleasant and very acommodating. Special recognition to our butler Clint and our conciege Roel. The port of Bermuda is clean and safe and always a pleasure. We have cruised the Dawn since 2004 and we are already booked for 2018. That about sums up how much we enjoy this cruise. Read Less

I was a single cruiser who booked within 24 hours of sailing. My vacation plans had fallen through when my Jet Ski broke down, I'm almost glad it did. I found a cruise leaving from Boston that fit into my vacation schedule and I booked it. less than 24 hours later I was on board in my cabin. The trip was great, it was calm all the way down. The first day I walked around trying to get acclimated. I'm very introverted, so I would venture out then run back to the room to recharge. Once I started following along with the day planner I started looking for things to do. I played bingo, I gambled at the casino and by the third day I wasn't going back to the room as much. Shake it Shirley, Ronaldo, Sharon, and Filipe my cabin steward were amazing. They knew my name, encouraged me to try different things and I had fun. Bermuda was great. The first day I walked out and got my souvineers and some fudge at the Dockyard. The second day I rented a scooter and braved the treterous roads until I found a beautiful beach about 10 miles from the ship where locals swam. I went for a dip and then got back on the scooter and explored deeper into the island. There was so much to see and I left some for a future trip. The third day it was supposed to rain so I stayed on board and had a blast. Between bingo and the casino I paid for the cruise and most of my drinks. There are three complaints. 1. The hallway to my cabin on the lower level smelled like feet. 2. My room had a black mold smell at the desk. 3. There was one crew member who stood by the guest services desk, he was the only person on the entire ship that wasn't polite, happy, and helpful. It's not that I would take this or a simiar trip with NCL again, its just a matter of when. Read Less
