We picked the Dawn because of the Garden Villa Suite. We had a total of 16 traveling with us and this ship provided the best living and deck space to get together each day. As with other reviews, the room was fabulous and the ship was good too. Roal and Jairus, our concierge and steward, were the two that made the suite life sweet. There were no requests made that weren't met with "let me see" and soon after have it happen (with one exception that I will mention later). They took care of the 16 as if everyone was staying in the suite. We were so spoiled in one week's time that everyone has a slight case of the blahs with the real life some two weeks after returning home. Another benefit of the suite is the use of Moderno restaurant for breakfast and lunch. We did this many times and the food and service was far above the buffet. We had a couple of hiccups such as NCL changing the itinerary the night before sailing due to Hurricane Florence. Everyone packed for Bermuda but we ended up in Canada. Don't fault NCL but they did little to make up for the disappointment. Everyone received a $30 credit which was a nice gesture but not proportional to what people spent on the cruise. The other head scratcher was that we had to pay for drinks brought up to the room even though we had the drink package. We had our own butler who was supposed to bring food and drinks so it wasn't a staffing issue. The rationalization given was that we had 6 bottles of booze that we selected as part of the suite and they gave mixers so we could make our own drinks. In the end, we would go on the Dawn if we got the chance to get the Garden Villa Suite. Read Less

This was supposed to be a cruise to Bermuda until Florence reared her ugly head. We were notified late Thursday night via text that our cruise leavind Friday morning would now be heading to nova Scotia and bar harbor Maine. No complaints about the cruise itself. The staff was polite & accommodating. The food was good, although the buffet could have been hotter. Only complaint is reimbursement for the difference in cruises. I dont mind paying for the cruise I took, but when I look on the website it's $300/person less than what I paid! By the way, this was our 1st cruise, but I hope it won't be our last! Although Florence ruined the location we made the best of it. I was amazed how friendly the other guests were. People would just start talking to each other like they knew each other for years. It definitely was a relaxing atmosphere! Read Less

Boarding in Boston was quick and easy-rooms on-board ready early and luggage arrived at stateroom before 5:30. Entertainment not as great as prior cruises but Jose and Patti as well as Hotwire were very entertaining. The Tina Turner tribute show by Ass't Cruise Director LUZ was phenomminal. Cruise Spent a lot of evenings in the atrium bar-Java Cafe. The bar staff were excellent-a definite credit to Norwegian. Ate at several specialty restaurants-Cagney's-Los Lobos-Le Bistro. Don't see the need for a men's pants dress code in Le Bistro- not necessary as long as you are in Bermuda-Bermuda shorts should be sufficient. Los Lobos was an OK experience-food was good but certainly not any better than the main dining rooms-Venetian or Aqua. We really enjoy Cagney's and the staff there seemed to go out of their way to make the dining experience special-well worth the price. Ate at the Bamboo cafe-very nice, especially considering it is a complimentary dining venue. Disembarking took less than 20 minutes. Boston is a great port! All in all another really fun Norwegian cruise. Have a 19 day Panama Canal cruise scheduled and booked 2 New England/Canada cruises while on board-Cruise Next staff very helpful as were all staff on-board-that's why we continue to sail Norwegian ! Sailing from Boston is very convenient as we live in the area and we love Bermuda. Theses two factors led us to choose to sail on NCL Dawn. We loved the casual dress onboard. It was a very relaxing cruise with Good food and service. Bar, lounge and atrium entertainment was excellent. The theatre entertainment could use improvement. Dancers very good but in need of production improvement. Bingo and Deal or no Deal Game are just money makers for NCL. Large prize bingo is a coverall which must be done in 47 numbers. I felt there should be $500 coverall for each day given the cost of bingo cards. Venetian Main Dining room ( aft) is much prettier and brighter with large windows than Aqua Dining room which is midship. Embarkation and disembarkation were very efficient. When first getting onboard the Venetian is open for seat in dining and well as Gadren buffet. We opted for the Venetian and it made the day very relaxing instead of crowded and harried at buffet. I am from Boston & it was the main reason we chose this cruise. Took Carnival from Bahamas & had lots of fun so took Bermuda from home town Boston. Whole process was very easy from start to finish except Photography Dept. Would love to do again to Alaska with the same cruise line. Our cabin was really really good. the service was good. The story I want to recognize their two employees in dining room. His name is Jason & his boss Robin. since we are vegetarian, they took care of our food every lunch & dinner. they were so nice to make sure that we have a good time. miss you guys both. The cruise director was very funny & nice. overall it was a memorable trip. would do again with same cruise line. Weather was really nice. they provided ferry for free to go to St. George & we had really good time there too. Read Less

We chose this cruise because it's leaves from our home town Boston. The staff was really friendly & nice except Photography. all the pictures they took was not good at all. The photographer was in a hurry to move lots of people that he didn't even informed us that pictures didn't come out right & let's take it again. The entertainment was very good. overall it was good experience. might try again for different destination. Shore Excursions is waist of money. don't do it. better of buying after you reach to Bermuda. it was much cheaper there. Dining staff & also Garden Cafe was really good. you can do plenty of activities at the cruise. they had programs lined up for all day. We had three children with us & they had a good time. Remember to take lots of pictures by yourself. can't trust their staff for pictures & also very expensive. Read Less

We went with 5 other couples that we knew, they all were celebrating there anniversary, All of us had a awesome time on the cruise. We loved the entertainment, especially Patti and Jose. The food was great and our bartender at dinner, Michael, was outstanding. We would definitely do this cruise again. Our room was great and our room attendant Dinky was great. Our cruise was a very memorable time and we had great weather and the seas were so calm. We went to horse bay beach and had a fantastic time, what a beautiful beach. I would highly recommend if senior citizens go to the beach they take a taxi and not go on public transportation, there are too many stairs! Read Less

Great cruise, everything fun, relaxing. Entertainment incredible with the exception of the atrium duo, they were sketchy could tell that they used pre-prerecorded music averag aversge at most, but nightly band fantastic. The trip was as expected. We had very calm seas and the weather was hot and sunny. public transportation on the island was spotty so use boat shuttles. St George limited on thingdss to do, Horseshoe Bay is very small. Most staff were friendly and helpful. Flex dining was limited more than expected. Great going out of Boston harbor and avoiding need for flights. One item sticks out, very hard to hear announcements over the intercom at all times, very frustrating at times. Boat interior was clean but aged. Restaurants very clean, Aqua was very loud, only used for dinner. Eat early for shortest wait. Would definately take cruise again same time of year, I think overall cruise a good choice if wanting to relax . Read Less

We chose this cruise because we had a couple of CruiseNext coupons left over, and it is easy for us to do out of Boston (because we live an hour away). We were sort of done with Norwegian a couple of years ago because the staff was unhappy and unfriendly, the food had gone downhill, and every cruise (regardless of itinerary) had the same "formula" and feel. They redeemed themselves this time! The staff was happy and responsive and helpful - which made everything so much more pleasant. The food - still just o.k., but they were trying, and some things were actually very good in the main dining rooms. Activities - I noticed that they added some interesting activities - things like paper box making, origami, Spanish lessons - not just things that either cost money or are the silly activities by the pool (like sexy legs contests). Someone in our party had 2 food allergies, and we were so impressed and relieved that they were all over that in the dining room, and had the situation completely under control. We like NCL because of the membership you can get to the Mandara Spa for the week, and that always is something we enjoy, and we did! Only complaint is that when my 20-year old daughter had a massage, the massage therapist was rude and too heavy on the cross-sell, which detracted from the experienced. We will definitely consider NCL again when we decide to book another cruise. They redeemed themselves and won us back! Read Less

Overall, my experience on this ship was fantastic. I like the smaller NCL ship, as it is not nearly as crowded as the larger NCL ships. The staff is friendly and on top of their game. The biggest drawback on this ship is the lack of quality entertainment options of the larger ships such as the Epic and Getaway. With this said, don't miss the Elements performance in the Stardust Theater. It is very good. Bands around the ship were all very good, but the music by the pool was far too loud. This isn't uncommon, but it really isn't necessary to have it so loud, as it can be heard very well in the far reaches of the pool area and beyond. There were many trivia games, which I enjoyed, but most took place in Gatsby's lounge, which has a very smoky environment with proximity to the casino and cigar smoking room. Even when people aren't smoking, the stale smell of smoke permeates the area. It is also too small to accommodate the number of people who like to play most of the time. NCL has a free ferry that goes to the island of St. George two of the three days while docked in Bermuda. We spent the day doing this and walking all over St. George from the dock and it was a fantastic time visiting the Unfinished Church, Tobacco Bay, and other areas. Read Less
