Before you decide to throw your money away on NCL, rethink your decision! Worst customer service I have ever seen. This is based on over 25 cruises my wife and I have been on. On Royal Caribbean, Carnival and MSC customer service has alway been a pleasure to deal with.Do to weather conditions I contacted NCL customer service earlier in the day and they assured me the ship was not changing its itenary. A few hours later I noticed a little weather advisory link on their website, when I clicked on it the information showed the ship's itinerary had changed. We never received any notification even though they had our cell phone numbers and email addresses. We contacted customer service to try to change to a different ship (even if I had to pay for a flight) and they denied our request. We tried customer service again the next day and got the same response. The only option they gave us was to cancel the trip and lose our money! Just awesome, way to go NCL, that's how to treat customers. We unfortunately decided to still go on the cruise instead of throwing the money away and had the worst cruise of my life! Everyone was upset, the staff on the ship were not very friendly because everyone was angry. We did have the drink package, however the only way to get a drink was to stand in lines at the bar. To add insult to injury while on the ship I had googled to see if the NCL Dawn had any complaints and I found a post that showed that the room we were in had an issue with bedbugs a few weeks before! Before you book on NCL, think about throwing your money directly in the water and save yourself the aggravation! Please note: insurance would not have helped this situation. https://www.wcvb.com/article/bed-bugs-bite-passengers-on-norwegian-dawn-cruise-from-boston-to-bermuda/22096424 Read Less

Our itinerary was changed the morning of the cruise from Bermuda to Canada. We had no time to repack and were not prepared for this destination at all and the cruise line was rude, curt and less than accommodating in every way. Our room was extremely loud, it sounded as if they were working on the ship with a steel drum and hammer all through the night! I had to purchase ear plugs. The heat was on in the room even though I had the a/c on the lowest setting. The onboard smoking allowed in certain room wafted everywhere!!! They had us stop at 4!! Yes you read that right four different ports, with zero time at each one to do anything, save their lame excursions. Was not worth the time or money and we will never - never book with Norwegian. All the thumbs down!!! The next time I choose to go to Bermuda we will fly!!! Read Less

Booked a 7day Bermuda cruise and was sent on a 7 day Canada & New England cruise on the day of departure due to Hurricane Florence. I am glad they chose to keep everyone safe but am shocked at what they chose for a contingency plan (since the Norwegian Escape sailing out of NY still went into the Caribbean). I feel Norwegian could have done several things differently to help ease the pain of the unfortunate itinerary change. 15 mins early is on time...arrived roughly 15 mins early for our requested embarkation time but had to stand around for an hour or so while they prepared the vessel. They did not have enough chairs or space for all the guests waiting. Definitely an area to improve upon as my boyfriend has a titanium hip from serving in the army and long periods of standing can be quite painful. I was told by several people that an itinerary change of this magnitude is quite uncommon but working in the customer service industry was taken aback by the poor customer service displayed both on and off the ship when we were told they were going to do everything in their power to make the situation better. No refunds for a cruise of lesser value, no credits towards future cruises or onboard spending, no complimentary upgrades at all - they even refused to honor a $4.00 speciality coffee even though we had the unlimited beverage package covering drinks up to $15.00. We did encounter some hidden charges (you're taxed on purchases while in US ports) that could have been avoided had better signage been displayed for first time cruisers not familiar with the process. We also opted out of the insurance which we were pleased with because we'd only get 75% of our money to use towards a future cruise. The shows on board were great, impressive to see such choreography with such little space and time. Well rounded variety for all ages and something to do at all times. The concept of an all inclusive cruise is incredible. I'm assuming if we had gone to our intended destination or something comparable my judgment would not be as jaded. The included venues had good food, and the freestyle dining made things easier. We are going to try again but with a different cruise line. I hope your luck is better than ours. Read Less

We picked the Dawn because of the Garden Villa Suite. We had a total of 16 traveling with us and this ship provided the best living and deck space to get together each day. As with other reviews, the room was fabulous and the ship was good too. Roal and Jairus, our concierge and steward, were the two that made the suite life sweet. There were no requests made that weren't met with "let me see" and soon after have it happen (with one exception that I will mention later). They took care of the 16 as if everyone was staying in the suite. We were so spoiled in one week's time that everyone has a slight case of the blahs with the real life some two weeks after returning home. Another benefit of the suite is the use of Moderno restaurant for breakfast and lunch. We did this many times and the food and service was far above the buffet. We had a couple of hiccups such as NCL changing the itinerary the night before sailing due to Hurricane Florence. Everyone packed for Bermuda but we ended up in Canada. Don't fault NCL but they did little to make up for the disappointment. Everyone received a $30 credit which was a nice gesture but not proportional to what people spent on the cruise. The other head scratcher was that we had to pay for drinks brought up to the room even though we had the drink package. We had our own butler who was supposed to bring food and drinks so it wasn't a staffing issue. The rationalization given was that we had 6 bottles of booze that we selected as part of the suite and they gave mixers so we could make our own drinks. In the end, we would go on the Dawn if we got the chance to get the Garden Villa Suite. Read Less

Bermuda! Not to be. Boring Canada when still green is probably the worst of the worst. No time to research, shore excursions far pricier than original destination, staff was ready to leave for home (like we were). So sad to see many people get off boat when they reached Halifax (where they came from) and Sydney and New Brunsick, and Bar Harbor. I thought the Captain made an easy call and did not consider the passengers and that we literally hung out in our backyards for 7 days. Caught a virus. Food in main dining rooms was excellent. Shows were pretty good. But what a BORE. I could have and would have stayed home but we had absolutely no options nor compensation for this sucky cruise. Why did Escape go South when we did not? Why was Prince Edwards Island offered as an alternative? The passengers were unhappy and NCL could care less as they have offered no compensation for this bad call. We would have been out of Bermuda before Florence hit which it did not and would hardly have affected us since the course did not include any of the states that were hit. AWFUL! Read Less

Our cruise ship was suppose to go to Bermuda. Unfortunately, so was Hurricane Florence. Norwegian Cruise Line made the correct decision to divert our ship to New England and Canada. What a great cruise!! The weather was perfect in the upper 60’s and lower 70’s. The seas were calm and the excursions were plentiful to select from. Halifax, Nova Scotia was amazing. We visited the Fairview Cemetery where 151 victims of the Titanic disaster are buried. Such a humbling experience!!! We also learned about the great explosion in Halifax in 1917. Peggy’s Cove is a must see and great souvenir shopping there. In Sydney, Nova Scotia we enjoyed a very festive live fiddle show. In Saint John, New Brunswick we went to see the Reversing Rapids and learned about the high tide from the ocean pushing back the river!! Beautiful marigolds were planted in the middle of the highway by the school students. Our last stop was in Bar Harbor, Maine. We took a tour to Acadia National Park and Cadillac Mountain. Such a breathtaking view and excellent photo shots!!! To end our day, we ate lobster at the West St. Cafe, highly recommended by the ship and locals!! Oh my goodness, we ended our trip with triple chocolate cake!!! Norwegian Cruise Line took great care of us. I also loved the casino on the ship and all of the delicious meals they served to us!! Could not have asked to be treated any better. Thank you Norwegian Dawn for some of the best memories of my life!! Read Less

I have traveled many times on cruise ships. However, this was my first time on NCL. I chose NCL because a group of friends were traveling on this ship to Bermuda. Before my trip I needed to get in touch with a representative of NCL and on both occasions it took over 40 minutes of being on hold before I reached someone. These two reps were very helpful, but who needs to be on hold for 40 minutes? I have pictures to document this since this is poor customer service. I wouldnt bring this up, but since I went on the cruise from Boston to Bermuda and all the things wrong with this trip, I needed to bring it up. It makes sense that the cruise diverted to Nova Scotia and Maine when it was supposed to go to Bermuda and we shouldnt be put in harms way of a hurricane. However, no attention was given to the new itinerary and in fact the crew was cut and made for a dirty, unresponsive cruise experience. The ship had cups and dirty trays everywhere. The elevators where over run with guests. The restaurants; even the main dining had long waiting experiences. The staff at O'sheehans Bar was unresponsive and even rude. The Bimini pool bar and grill was closed most of the time causing overflow at other bars around the pool. There was no staff to take any drink orders around the pool, we even had someone approach us and take our drink order who was a guest. The gym was decent. The pool area for kids looked like something crafted / painted in a day by 2nd graders and belonged in the projects. Los Lobos, La Cucina and Cagney's were worth the extra $ for dinner. The cafe garden was over run, crowded, and you would have thought no one had eaten before and couldnt get enough. The guests were like hungry locus on a crop. The guests were angry, drunk and clearly not enjoying the new itinerary. The entertainment was decent. The casino was decent but the casino bar was horrible with long waiting times and I had to get my own drinks on a number of occasions while playing black jack; even after asking for service. The best bar on the ship was Gatsby's Bar. The wait staff was always available and very friendly. They kept their cool and they were servicing not only the Gatsby bar but the overflow from the horrible casino bar, La Cucina and Le Bistro and they did an amazing juggling act. Leila needs special mention since she seemed to be at that bar often and always with a great attitude and smile. The excursions were boring; really nothing to do however Bar Harbor Acadia park was nice; who needs more shopping and bars? I would never recommend this trip; if anything go to Alaska or anywhere else but there is nothing worth seeing on this adventure. I cant believe with the beverage package you can not get bottled water or that it doesnt include the minibar. Read Less

This was supposed to be a cruise to Bermuda until Florence reared her ugly head. We were notified late Thursday night via text that our cruise leavind Friday morning would now be heading to nova Scotia and bar harbor Maine. No complaints about the cruise itself. The staff was polite & accommodating. The food was good, although the buffet could have been hotter. Only complaint is reimbursement for the difference in cruises. I dont mind paying for the cruise I took, but when I look on the website it's $300/person less than what I paid! By the way, this was our 1st cruise, but I hope it won't be our last! Although Florence ruined the location we made the best of it. I was amazed how friendly the other guests were. People would just start talking to each other like they knew each other for years. It definitely was a relaxing atmosphere! Read Less

We were disappointed but we did not that ruin our cruise. Our trip was paid for and we made the best of it.It is in the contract that they can change the itinerary. The ports in Canada we really nice and staff on the ship was great. Especially the bar servers on the pool deck. I have nothing negative to say about this vacation. The food was excellent in all the restaurants we ate in, entertainment was great, and our cabin & steward were excellent. He was very attentive to our needs and on top of it.I just wished those who upset about the itinerary change read their contracts and were grateful that Norwegian kept us safe from hurricane Florence. I wouldn't let this prevent me from booking with Norwegian again. Read Less
