I'll just go over my experiences in order; Friday-Embarkation. I've never experienced one this bad. Got on the ship in Quebec City, we had reserved a 10am embarkation, however the doors to the terminal did not open until 11:30 and by then the lines were huge. Once we got to the area where we could check-in, it was clear the staff NCL was using was not trained. It took over 45 minutes for the person to check us in. We had plenty of time to watch other people having the same problems with their check-in person. Once we did get on the ship and to our room, our room keys did not work. We waited in line for about 20 minutes to get new keys. Once in the room, I tied to put my valuables in the safe, but it wouldn't work. To their credit, NCL had someone there immediately to fix the safe. We then left the ship to tour Quebec City for the rest of the day. What an outstanding city. Then that evening when we get back on the ship, and to my room, my key doesn't work. Back to Guest Services to get a new key. Saturday-Full day in Quebec City. Did I say what an outstanding city Quebec City is? Sunday-Sea Day. Good entertainment, Cruise Director is highly entertaining. Ate at the Brazilian BBQ restaurant. Very good, the Banana Tart for dessert was the best dessert I've ever had on a cruise ship. Monday-Sydney. Not exciting but we rented a car and drove to Fortress of Louisbourg. Well worth it. **We rented a car, paid for admission to Louisbourg and also had time for a drive to a nearby lighthouse. Total cost on our own was $80, I believe NCL's excursion to Louisbourg was about $110 each. Ate at the Steakhouse. I can't recall it's name. Very average, Service staff seemed like they wanted to be anywhere but working. Magic Show in the theatre was very bad. We left early. Tuesday-Halifax. Very nice city. We spent most of the day just wandering. If you're 3rd generation Canadian or more, the Muesum of Immigration is a must. It's right near the Cruise Port. Wednesday. St John. Dull city. Should have rented a car. I think this evening we watched the Not So Newlywed game in the theatre. It was hilarious. The Cruise Director is very good at his job. Thursday- Bar Harbour. Long wait to go through Immigration as there were 3 cruise ships in Port. Tendering and immigration at the same time makes for a very slow and frustrating morning. Once we get back to our room, I go to open the safe to get some American cash out and when I tried to lock it again, it wouldn't work. Called for help and waited 45 minutes and then called again. Bottom line, nobody ever showed up and we had to carry our valuables with us for the rest of the trip. We hid our laptops and tablets since we weren't going to carry those, I was comfortable they wouldn't get stolen. Our steward was excellent. Bar Harbor is nice. Small town, just wandered around. We ate at the Mexican Restaurant and it was the best meal I've ever had on a cruise ship. Friday. Disembarked in Boston. No problems. Overall, the ports are worth visiting, but NCL definitely takes a back seat to other cruise lines in Customer service. The kicker was when I emailed NCL after the cruise to discuss the problems we had had, I received a note 2 months later that they would investigate to see if what I said 'was true'. Wow. Read Less

we traveled with the whole family. The kids LOVED Splash academy. the counselors were great and kept the kids busy. the complimentary restaurants were fine, although the service was a bit slow. you just have to have the right mind set (you are on vacation so relax) our reservations were generally for 5:30 and we were done with dinner by 7 (skipped dessert) the pool was crowded and often noisy. the kids pool is in a separate area which was good for them. I think it took us the whole week to find our way around the ship as the layout was different but there were good signs everywhere. the entertainment was pretty good. Tim Kaminski is a great comic. Think he is going to be off soon as he is just finishing his 3 month contract. We aren't sure if the Ultimate beverage package is worth it or not. the drinks were $6-8 for mixed drinks and wine. sodas were $2.75. some beverages not included (Red Bull, Gatorade, frozen drinks). We had 4 rooms and wanted 3 adult packages and 5 soda packages but they made all adults get the alcohol package. Water is expensive to buy their bottled water. bringing your own water bottle and getting water from the machine is fine. the embarkation and disembarkation were amazingly easy. Highly recommend bringing only luggage you can carry off yourself so you don't have to wait. Our kids did the sail/snorkel excursion and enjoyed it. They bought bus/ferry passes and found their way around the island themselves. The staff were all excellent and have great customer service skills. While I think Wi-Fi should be free, I was glad it wasn't because it got me to disconnect for a week. Overall the cruise was a wonderful time for our family and we would go again Read Less
