I chose this Cruise because I needed Four Points to achieve Platinum Status. This Cruise went to Cuba. I was on the Breakaway one day before I boarded the sky. The Breakaway put a hold on a lot of money, boarding the sky, the money was still under a hold. I could not spend any money on the sky. Guest Services was not helpful, they refused to ask NCL corporate to send a settlement statement to my credit card to lift the hold. I settled my account in cash before I left the Breakaway so there was no need for a hold. After emailing my credit card that is all that needed to be done and guest services on the sky refused to help me, to the point that I was in tears several times. I am a casino VIP and would have spent a few thousand more dollars on the sky had I had access to my money. With that being said, the casino manager was fabulous and despite not having access to a few thousand more dollars to spend in the casino, he made my cruise feel a little more special. Cabin 8064, was conveniently located right by an elevator. There is a huge exhaust problem in the room. I woke up from every nap and night sleep with a headache oh, sometimes I found it difficult to fall asleep due to the smell in the air. I had brought a travel fan and that helped the little but did not get rid of the smell. I could not prop my door open hence I was directly by the elevator and there was a lot of traffic. I did not go to any shows, I only dined at La Cucina one time and all other dinners were in the dining room called The Crossings. The staff in The Crossings were fabulous. Read Less

short quick cruise. one day in havana, one day at sea, one day at stirrup cay. Havana was GREAT, arranged a third party tour and spent all day in Havana and night at Tropicana. Tropicana show was ok, all in spanish, all the music sounded the same to me. Was about 2 hours, but could have been much shorter for me. Didnt do Stirrup Cay, it rained nearly all day there so we missed it but we did party on the boat more. On board, the boat was full and handled the population very easily. food was ok at the buffet's and better at the main dining rooms. Bars were all good and made for lots of easy drinking. We got the upgraded beverage promo so we had bottles of water and better liquors available. Easy on/easy off...really had no problems at all. Couple we were traveling with had some minor room issues (AC, TV stuff) but it was resolved. Apparently we were supposed to have some classic towel animals in our room every night but we didnt at all. I wasnt too worried about that but others may complain about it. Read Less

I was really excited to go on this cruise since it was my first cruise with NCL. This was my 10th cruise overall. I was happy to see that it was recently remodeled but it still lacks amenities that other competitors have. The buffet area is so small and crowded on this cruise ship and the food offerings are that of a basic cafeteria. The upgraded restaurants particularly the steak house and French restaurant are NOT worth the money. The steak house cooked my steak wrong 3 times and the French restaurant served me cold food. It was not worth the upcharge. The Italian restaurant was good and the sushi was good. The room was nice and updated and the pillows were soft and the bed was comfortable. The entertainment was okay but again subpar to its competitors. The NCL owned island was pretty and offered lunch but that about it. The excursions on this island are extremely high and I feel they take advantage of the cruisers especially since they own the island. There is no shopping at this port if you are a shopper. Its more of a lounging day if that is your thing. The comedian was not very good and again i've seen better on other ships. I feel this cruise line is for cruise beginners or those looking for a cheap get away. Its definitely not for the avid cruiser and definitely not worth the dining package upgrades they offer. Spend a few more bucks and get a memorable experience in another line. Read Less

I decided to take this cruise to see Cuba. I had already been on the Sky before it went into dry dock for a refurb. It was good to see they made some changes, and some I did not like as much. My cabin was clean, but the shower was horrible. It went from ICE cold to BOILING hot all the time while in use. Many areas of the public space have been changed since the refurb. They moved the Piano to the atrium and the old space is now the mojito bar. It has an irish feel to it and does not match what they are attempting to do. The BLISS lounge is much nicer, and more open. This space was tight before refurb. I loved Cuba. The people were awesome, the food was great. I took a day tour of the city and a night tour of the city. Both well worth taking. The guides were great and answered all questions and gave us a good insight of life and how, and why, things are. Cuba and Key West ports from Port Canaveral. Very organized embarkation and disembarkation. Loved seeing Havana. We did our own tour witha private tour group and was very interesting and informative. Key West was great to see as well. We did the Trolley Tour through NCL to get an overview of the Key and then after, walked around on our own. We stayed in the Deck 6a cabins and was very quiet and sufficiently spacious and comfortable for 2 people with adequate storage. The staff were particularly attentive. Any issue was addressed immediately and with follow-up. They seemed to go above and beyond to make sure guests were enjoying their cruise. The open bar was great and there was plenty of staff available to serve. We have cruised Royal Carribean, Holland America and Celebrity and I would have to say that the service on the NCL SUN was outstanding. Nicely renovated ship too. The entertainment was also very good. Enjoyed the comedian and the big dance show, karaoke, as well as the numerous musical venues. Overall very pleased!! Read Less

My husband and I traveled on our first Norwegian cruise and thoroughly enjoyed. This was our first time with Norwegian and we will definitely be back. We enjoyed the number of people on the ship. It didn't seem like it was over-crowded. We enjoyed the piano man but our only complaint is that you should have scheduled him in the Observation Bar it would have been much better and there would have been more seats. We really enjoyed the open bar concept. Neither one of us drink that much but it was really nice to just walk up to the bar and grab a drink if needed. We enjoyed Cuba and thought it was great that we got to spend the night in port. The cruise director, Jasper, was great as well. He really did an amazing job! Dining was good too, our only complaints would be that the hostess did a poor job of seating people, but the service was fine. We really enjoyed having flexible dining time. Overall our trip was amazing and we enjoyed ourselves. Thanks for the great trip! Read Less

Just wanted a quick get away and check off a bucket list for my Husbands birthday. This was a Monday to Friday cruise to Havana. I was prepared not to like the cruise or the line but everything was great. We booked at the last minute and did not get to pick our stateroom but we had an ocean view room on level 4. It was the smallest room and the lowest level we ever had on a cruise but it was fine. Lots of storage, typical small bathroom but very nice and CLEAN. The ship was very well kept, cleanliness was evident. Food was good, the speciality resturarant we tried was the Italian one and it was excellent. Not much to choose from for evening shows but we were there for the relaxation and mostly to see Havana. Our stop in Havana was only one day but it was just wonderful. Yes, lots of the city was in disrepair. The people are poor for the most part. We had the most delightful tour I have ever been on. BLEXIE tours. This was a tour in an old car. Ours was a 57 Chevy. Our Driver Johnny and our Tour Guide, Laura Garcia, were great. Laura gave us a real education on the History of Cuba, the cuban world view, the people, etc. Loved every minute of it. Learned so much. The tour lasted from 10-4 and was just full of sights and sounds. We opted for the driving tour with very little walking and saw so much of the city. The , the bad, the ugly. Gained such an appreciation for what Cuba is really like. We went to lunch in an out of the way place in a nice neighborhood. Try this place if you get a chance, BUENAVENTURA lovely meal , outside dinning. Very local. Highly reccomend the cruise and the Tour. Do your self a favor and book this private tour. Two people plus a driver and a tour guide. Very reasonable pricing. Personal attention. Can't say enough about how great it wasl Read Less

This was our 14th NCL cruise but our first on the Sky. I was joined by my wife, son (21), and daughter (18). I will first review the ship and then review Cuba. SKY First, a few words about the Sky. The staff was absolutely the most friendly out of any of the 20 cruises we have been on. They did not just welcome us to every venue, bar, and restaurant; they emphatically thanked us for joining them for the week. Simply outstanding service. The Sky itself was in much better condition than we have read in some other reviews. It is old. But it is clean and well maintained. The Sky is the smallest ship we have cruised on (our last two cruises were on the Epic and Escape). The advantage was no lines, ever. We found deck chairs whenever we wanted, never waited for a table in the dining rooms, and walked off the ship when we were ready to leave. The entertainment venues were not as polished as other larger, newer ships. But the performers did their best with the space they had. We might have gotten bored if this was a 7-day cruise. But the Sky was just fantastic for a 4-day cruise. One tip: If you like a quiet cabin, get a room on deck 6. These cabins are isolated from the rest of the ship. CUBA Like the Sky, Cuba was a very pleasant surprise. Part of the surprise was that ships dock right in the center of Old Havana. So you can walk on and off the ship as often as you like without any issues. As per our usual practice, we did not purchase an excursion on the ship. Instead, we had a tremendous adventure by putting together our own itinerary. Actually, all I did was spend about 1/2 hour searching the internet the night before. 1) Walking tour of Old Havana to orient ourselves 2) Found a great English-speaking driver and a beautiful restored 50's lime green Dodge convertible to take us on a 2.5 hour guided tour. The tour included detailed reviews of Old Havana, New Havana, brief visits to all three forts, a stop at the Bay of Pigs memorial, time at Revolution Square, and a photo stop at the Cristos statue. 3) Hopped on the ship for a quick lunch 4) Walked to the Almacenes San Jose Artisans market. Hundreds of booths selling mostly the same stuff at just "fair" prices. It seemed to be the Cuban equivalent of Nassau's straw market. 5) Took a cab to Santa Maria Del Mar and spent 2.5 hours on the beach. Nice sand but a bit rocky just at the waters edge. Caught a very interesting cab back to the ship: A restored 50's wagon that had been in the driver's family for 45 years. His father gave it to him when he retired as a cab driver, and he is about to give it to his son. 6) Quick shower and dinner in the dining room. 7) Walk off the ship and search for night life in Old Havana. We didn't find much. We were told the next day that a cab could have taken us to all of the hot spots. But at that point we were pretty worn out anyway. 8) Get back on the ship at 1 am and collapse in our beds, absolutely marveling at what a delightful day we had. In conclusion, the Sky's Cuba itinerary is a tremendous value and well worth the trip. Frankly, it was a better value than we thought, since we didn't realize that drinks were included until the second day! Read Less

We chose this cruise mainly due to our time constraints and this was one that fit our schedule. We had a great time. Embarkation and disembarkation went very well. The ship was recently renovated and everything looked great. We traveled with our teen son. This is a small ship as are all the ships that can be accommodated in Havana. What it lacks in water slides and things for kids, it made up for in fun music shows, entertainment and nice staff. We enjoyed the food in Palace and Crossings for breakfast and lunch. We had a dinner at Cagney's which was included in our package and we enjoyed it as well. We did eat at the buffet for a breakfast and some lunches. I prefer Palace and Crossings over the buffet. Most family's with younger kids went to the buffet. We did a Panorama excursion in Havana in the evening through the cruise. It was a choice we made last minute and it still had openings. We did a stingray excursion in Stirrup cay and it was excellent. We also rented a snorkel, in addition to the 2 we brought from home (ours were better, dry snorkels and theirs had too large a mouthpiece for me but it fit my son) and snorkeled on our own at Stirrup Cay. We saw lots of fish. Early morning the waters were cool but later in the day it felt just right and we were not at all cold in the water. Our cabin was 9239 and it was near elevators but not too close to be annoying. It was very quiet and we had a nice view of Havana as we pulled into port. The cabin is small but it was large enough for the three of us. The only semi problem was that our son, about 5' 8" was a bit too tall for the pull out sofa bed. We had to put the sofa bolster at the foot to support his legs and feet. He seemed ok with it but someone older and even taller may have more difficulty with that. We would go again. Read Less
