The good, the bad and the beautiful

Review for a Cruise to Nowhere Cruise on Norwegian Epic

Overnight, Rotterdam to Southampton There's no doubt about it: Norwegian Epic is a beautiful ship. The crew are wonderful, the food is excellent and the entertainment is probably the best you'll ever see at sea. The bad news is the embarkation at Rotterdam took almost four hours and was the most chaotic we've ever encountered in all the years we've been cruising and the disembarkation at ...

First sailing of NCL Epic Rotterdam to Southampton

We came back from Epic yesterday afternoon. Rotterdam to Southampton. What a shamble at Rotterdam. We arrived at 10.30pm and only boarded at 1.15pm. People were all over de place, announcements you could not understand. They were asking hundreds of people to seat down on 50 chairs. Girls from NCL based in Dover were on hand to help the very inexperience staff in Rotterdam. Around 12.30, they ...

As we only had one night on board to sample this new ship from NCL I can only give my impressions on what we managed to see and do in the limited time available to us. So very hard to choose which ones to go and do but in the end this is the review of our encounter with the not quite finished Norwegian Epic. I will start with the check in as this seems to have caused a bit of stir amongst many ...

The Gem was beautiful. The food, service and activities on this CTN were fabulous! I sailed with 3 newbies and all enjoyed their time onboard. The Quest Show was fun and was the rest of entertainment onboard. Food is always subjective on a cruise - I must say I enjoyed variety at lunch. Dinner was great, a bit of a miss on desserts but good overall. Unfortunately the Garden Cafe did ...

Just got back from my February 11 "Cruise To Nowhere" onboard the NCL Gem. Ship departed at 4:15PM from the New York City Westside pier 88. Embarkation. This time, I arrived at the pier at 9:45. I was the first passenger inside the ship terminal. Around 10:30 the passengers were given green cards with a number written on it. At about 12:00PM they started calling group numbers. I was ...

One night Cruise to a ripoff!

I was so disappointed with this one night cruise to nowhere that I wrote to NCL corporate headquarters. My companion and I recently attended the one night cruise to nowhere on January 23rd, 2010 out of NYC cruise port. We are both regular NCL cruise customers and even attended the one night cruise to nowhere last year. This year, though, we were both extremely unsatisfied. To begin, the line ...

Background - We are a married couple in our early forties. We wanted to try a cruise of one night to see if we both could handle a small cabin and the confines of even a large ship and the motion. Husband expected to hate it, wife expected to have a great time. Starting with embarkation... long long lines at the terminal. Parking is easy, although $30 per night is steep. Try public transport or ...

Embarkation: This was our 6th cruise (1 with Princess, 4 with Carnival and 1st with NCL). We had read all the reviews and we selected a Penthouse suite to make comparisons with the other cruise lines. We read all about the NCL "Suite Life" and were so excited about experiencing it. We landed at the Miami airport around 12:45 PM and joined our friends in the baggage claim area. The four ...

Review for a Cruise to Nowhere Cruise on Norwegian Pearl

This was a "repositioning" cruise - Started in Vancouver, B.C., with stops in Astoria, Oregon, San Francisco, and ending in Los Angeles. My husband & I were looking forward to the "freestyle" cruising - we're not into getting dressed up for dinner while we're on vacation. We've previously cruised on Holland America & Royal Caribbean. So "freestyle" means that you don't have to dress up for ...

I was on a 1-night cruise on the Pearl Sept 20th. I went with my mom and sister and two of my mom's friends. I stayed the night in Seattle at my sister's house. It was my other's sister's birthday, so we went out to dinner the night before, and make a fun weekend with the cruise. We went down to Pier 66 the next morning about 10:30. We had to park our car across the street at the Bell St. ...
