We chose this cruise for the holidays as a family of 8 and for the itinary.
Gem is a smaller ship and was ill equiped for a Xmas- NYE+ cruise. We never left the port of Manhattan for 2 days , one for "high waves" and the other because the NY Port Auth. said we couldn't. ( not sure that was true but I degress).

We chose this for a Holiday Cruise. We booked a penthouse suite room 12350. They ship was easy to get around. It says capacity of around 2,300 passengers. The ship had over 2,500. The ship is old. We were very disappointed with our cruise aboard the Norwegian Dawn. This isn't our first cruise with Norwegian, in fact we have sailed on this ship before, but after this cruise we will never sale with Norwegian again as they main focus seems to be profit and nothing else.

I will start this review with the caveat that we booked this cruise very late in the game and would not have booked the cabins we booked if others were available.

We always wanted to cruise Panama Canal and were excited about the itenerary. We are long time NCL cruisers but oir experience fell below our seasoned expectations. We have always loved NCL.
The ship was recently renovated and we miss the wine bar. Decor is nice.
