We had an excellent time aboard NCL Sun boarding in Tenerife and cruising to Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, Agadir, Casablanca, Ceuta, Malaga, Cadiz & ending in Lisbon.

The itinerary appealed…Lisbon,Madeira, Canaries, Gibraltar, Malaga and Cadiz. The Sun didn’t seem to cope as well with the Atlantic swell as other ships we’ve been on.
Food generally excellent, los lobos was disappointing. Restaurants mostly quieter than on other cruises, I do wonder if it’s because of the “à la carte” pricing adopted by NCL which has dramatically pushed up the cost. ...

Our cruise began and ended in Malaga in March 23. We went to Cadiz, Lisbon, Madeira, the Canary Islands and Gibraltar. The weather started off wet but it got very hot in Madeira. There were passengers joining the cruise at every port and disembarking too.

The Norwegian Sun is a lovely fairly small ship with a maximum capacity of 1,936 passengers but it seemed really spacious as it was just 80% full. It was built in 2001 but refitted in 2018, so looked like new (after a 2 year pause for COVID). Embarkation in Lisbon was very easy and the 8 day cruise finished at Málaga having visited Madeira and various Canary Islands.

This was a repositioning cruise, so it had both a great number of ports, and a reasonable cost.
On the Pro side:
- Ports were Good. Arrecife and Tortola are a bit underwhelming, but otherwise, the ports were very nice. My favorites were Palma and Funchal.
