Lovely ship few minor inconveniences

Review for a Canada & New England Cruise on Norwegian Breakaway

I picked this ship and this sailing because it was out of New York and I wanted to go north. I had been on Norwegian previously and had to go experience. This was also a very good experience my only issue with the cruise was the fact that they only put on One show per evening, unlike celebrity and Disney which has two seatings per night. I therefore the first thing we had to do when we got on the ...

NCL Is Not LIke It Used to Be

We sailed on the NCL Breakaway up the Eastern seaboard from New York City to Halifax Nova Scotia. While the service for the most part continues to be excellent, we've noticed a decline in the rest of the cruising experience. In this review, I will compare our experience in the Haven on the Breakaway and the Haven on the NCL Jade. First off, the quality of food is not like it used to be. On prior ...

We picked this cruise out of Boston for the Canada and Maine destinations and enjoyed all five ports. With regard to shore excursions, we especially enjoyed the Bar Harbor Epicurean Experience, the Sydney Pub tour was entertaining, and the Halifax Deluxe Hop on Hop Off was a good idea with some entry costs being included. However, we were very disappointed with the food. While the menus were ...

Pleasantly surprised with NCL

This was our first cruise on NCL and from reviews I was not expecting to be wowed. I wasn't but it was better in many ways than I expected. I received a dining package so I did try two specialty restaurants. I found the main dinning rooms be be excellent and the buffet quite good. Can't say the same for the specialty options. The Italian was just OK and the French was trying too hard to be top ...

Unorganized and total rip-off!

Very unorganized from the gecko. Gave us incorrect boarding times for 3 longs weeks before sailing even when we called and asked online representatives. No one knows the answers or has control of anything. Then 48 hours before sailing we get a text about change of boarding time which changes original choices of 9-3pm to 4-10pm and everyone is crammed on a 12 blocks horrendously long line to board ...

Worst Embarkation Ever!

We booked this cruise since we had sailed on the Breakaway before, and we were looking for a cruise we would enjoy with our sister in-laws and husband. We also appreciated that we were able to book a specific window to check in(12:00-12:30). Two days before the sailing date, we received an email that the check-in had been changed to 4:00P.M. to10:00P.M. we had flew up from Georgia for this ...

Well folks, Norwegian started out right away on the WRONG foot! We picked our time to board for 1 to 2 o'clock a couple of weeks prior. 2 days before departure we get a text from Norwegian that embarkation will be from 4 to 10pm. So I figure everyone will be there at 4 and I was right. I wanted to get there at 3 but didn't make it until 4. The line by this time was about 2-3 hundred yards long at ...

Horrible checkin and boarding

Boarding time planned for 12:30 pm . Received an anonymous text from a 5 digit number to come later. Others in my party received no text. First communication by this method even though I received 2 emails a day about watching the safety video. 3.5 hrs to get on ship, everyone told to come between 4 -10pm, some folks with handicaps, small children and elderly had a very hard time, I hope no one ...

I am a gold latitudes member on Norwegian. My wife and I have been on at least 30 cruises on all different ships. This was the worst. Not one Norwegian person knew what they were doing. Dinner in the dining rooms took well over 2 hours. Waiters, waitresses and especially the dining room captains had no idea what they were doing and didn't have any explanations why things took so long. ...

Sailed 8/21 - 8/28/2022 from New York to Canada. Mini Suite, Club Balcony, Midship. Pros: Food very good. Abundance of staff. All very polite, friendly and efficient. Ate mostly in TASTE restaurant which was smaller and intimate vs. the chaotic, noisy Manhattan Room. Good service - sometimes spotty due to lack of managerial leadership, but the staff were excellent. SAVOR restaurant not ...
