EnJOYed the Joy!

Review for a Canada & New England Cruise on Norwegian Joy

We just returned from this cruise yesterday. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Embarkation in NYC was quite easy for us, but we used wheelchair service due to disability, so that usually helps. While the review below may seem a list of gripes, please know we have no regrets, are glad we did the cruise, and would do this cruise again in a heartbeat. I merely share the below to level set expectations ...

Loved the Haven, the crowds noi so much

Unlike many of the participants on Cruise Critic, we don’t go on multiple cruises a year, in fact we have multiple years between cruises. This was our fifth cruise, our first was in 1996. This was our second NCL cruise, our second in a suite with a butler, but our first in the Haven. We chose an October Canada/New England cruise out of Manhattan, in hopes of seeing fall colors, and so that ...

WARM WEATHER BOUTIQUE HOTEL AT SEA

Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on Norwegian Prima

This was the repositioning cruise from Southampton UK to New York City, the second leg of its maiden voyage. Prima is daring in design and most of it works - but some warnings. This is a warm-weather ship, with lots of real-estate devoted to the outdoors. Public rooms are small (intimate?) and the ship is enigmatic in its layout. Many public rooms are narrow and easily crowd when access to ...

Enjoyable transatlantic cruise, but entertainment was poor

Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on Norwegian Prima

We have just completed our 13th NCL cruise, a transatlantic cruise on the Norwegian Prima. We sailed on the transatlantic crossings of the Bliss and Encore and loved both of them. We have also sailed on other cruiselines. All staff and crew were excellent. The food was very good in all venues, albeit limited in the small buffet. The transformation of the theatre into a nightclub in the evening ...

Prima Class -Never again!

Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on Norwegian Prima

We boarded Prima with full knowledge of previous negative reviews. Due to this, we made a conscious effort to look for the positives in our experience onboard. Most people at the start of the cruise agreed with us that the ship was beautiful and the décor was light, modern, and seemed spacious. The sculpture art outside is fabulous, but some smaller aspects have been missed. All toilet roll ...

Happy on the Breakaway

We live just north of Manhattan so cruising from the Westside pier is a real perk. We booked this round trip to NE/Canada to see St. John and Halifax as we had been to all the other ports. It didn't quite work out that way as hurricane Fiona forced us to bypass Halifax and substitute Boston. The weather for the most part was very good. A little chilly and Boston had a lot of wind but we were ...

The Haven Has Spoiled Me!

Review for a Canada & New England Cruise on Norwegian Breakaway

This was our first cruise since the pandemic and wanted to stay relatively safe by staying mostly in the US. Also our first time in The Haven, chosen for the same reason, safety. Even though the ship was large I don't think it was filled to capacity. We had our own restaurant and lounge just steps from our cabin, we chose the Haven Courtyard Penthouse balcony. There were hot tubs, a pool and the ...

Small ship, interesting ports

Review for a Canada & New England Cruise on Norwegian Pearl

My friend and I took the Norwegian Pearl -to New England and Canada, departing from Boston on Sept 2. Boston Port was organized and we sat in sections for our boarding group. After check in at the muster station location, ate lunch at the Summer Palace. This was our main go to free sit down restaurant. It seemed bigger and more open then the other sit down restaurants. It was pretty empty ...

Lovely ship few minor inconveniences

Review for a Canada & New England Cruise on Norwegian Breakaway

I picked this ship and this sailing because it was out of New York and I wanted to go north. I had been on Norwegian previously and had to go experience. This was also a very good experience my only issue with the cruise was the fact that they only put on One show per evening, unlike celebrity and Disney which has two seatings per night. I therefore the first thing we had to do when we got on the ...

Pleasantly surprised with NCL

This was our first cruise on NCL and from reviews I was not expecting to be wowed. I wasn't but it was better in many ways than I expected. I received a dining package so I did try two specialty restaurants. I found the main dinning rooms be be excellent and the buffet quite good. Can't say the same for the specialty options. The Italian was just OK and the French was trying too hard to be top ...
