New England/Canada
Staff is top notch however I have traveled on Royal Caribbean and was disappointed with the amentaties Norwegian offered.
Restaurants were hard to get reservations for. MargaritaVille was only open 12:00 to 5:00 which was disappointing because you were in port doing excursions at that time. The buffet was average. At times would wait 10 minutes or more just to get a soda ...
First time cruising in many years. Very impressed with friendliness of staff on board. Food was excellent t (I only ate in the dining room). No real concerns with waiting around in line. Generally short lines everywhere other than boarding in Quebec City. Quebec
I chose this itinerary as it features some excellent ports for bike riding. Connected with local bike shops in Charlottetown and ...
We sailed on the Jewel to Alaska in July and were disappointed in the ship and food, but gave NCL one more try. We were so excited about the ports for the Northeast Canada sailing, but we missed two ports - and didn't have to miss them!
The food was below average, the service was below average and there was nothing to do on the ship. We've taken 25 cruises and this was our 7th with NCL. The ...
The whole point of this trip was to see Canadian ports. Norwegian massively let us down. Although there was only supposed to be one tender port, without explanation, there ended up being three, two of which the captain claimed the weather was too rough to visit. It didn't seem that windy or wavy to the passengers, and everyone on board was bummed out and bored. Other cruise ships were docked at ...
I have been on 5 cruises previously with 4 different cruiselines (including Disney, Princess, and Royal Carribean). My experience on Norwegian Gem was by far the worst.
1. The stateroom is poorly designed, with no outlets near the head of the bed. Family members with CPAP machines had to run extension cords across the entire room to be able to use their medical device.
2. Stateroom did not ...
My travel agent suggested the NCL escape because I wanted a 7 day cruise not too far away from home Incase of an emergency. It was the perfect cruise for our honeymoon. My husband prefers just relaxing on a beach and I like going on excursions and learning about different places. It was both relaxing and educational. A lot of bus tours so my husband was able to nap while I took in the sights and ...
Because of the Hurricane in the Caribbean, NCL moved their eco cruise presenters to our cruise. We had Dr. Guy Harvey, whio is a marine biologist and the artist who designed the hull art for the Escape, on our cruise.
My husband and I attended every lecture and presentation by Dr. Harvey and his other marine scientists on board to learn about their research. We found it fascinating - how they ...
After 18 NCL cruises we decided this was the worst one!
The problem of being on so many cruises with NCL creates an automatic comparison on overall and on particular events. Lets face it the cruise director and his second banana are beginners in training. The design of the Breakaway type ship does not help either. While the epic / pearl type had the Spinnakers for dancing and general use and ...
The service was wonderful. The ship is big and clean bur you would never know there was 4200 guest aboard. Elevators were plentiful. The cruise was to maine and Canada out of NYC. The weather was superb. The ship had plenty of space for those who wanted to stay at the pool or quiet time to get sun and be in the jacuzzi. Our cabin was a balcony and had enough space for the 2 of us. It was ...
Too crowded at times, not personalized, nothing out of the ordinary. We normally have at least have one night where lobster is offered in general dining on cruises with other carriers and it was not offered on NCL. We feel that NCL pushes specialty dining a lot to make more money rather than put money into regular dining. Regular dining was good, just not exceptional. We did always go to buffet ...
