We especially love the Gem for the outstanding crew and staff, this is our second trip to Bermuda on the Gem. What a friendly group who gave outstanding service at all times. Our first time was before the pandemic.

I chose this cruise for the itinerary and dates of travel. Ports of call were all wonderful, we the exception of St John, NB. No excursion is required in any of the ports (except St John) if you’re willing to walk a bit, or navigate public transport. St John doesn’t have a much to offer after a quick wander and visit tot he old market. Might be worth an excursion to Hopewell Rocks…

We are a retired couple and this was our 7th cruise with NCL. Making this cruise our 21st. We had an inside cabin. We hadn’t cruised since 2014 on NCL.

The October 6, 2023, the New England cruise from Quebec City to Boston began on October 4 with the NCL BOGO air. The trip began at 6 am on United Air from Colorado Springs to Chicago. Late start with plane bathroom issues but arrived in time in Chicago for our connecting Air Canada flight. Let me start with a broad statement; I really am not crazy about the NCL Breakaway and similar ships. I've done Breakaway, Bliss and now Escape (my wife has also done Joy). We chose this cruise primarily due to the itinerary, but really enjoyed the Joy. This was the largest-capacity ship we've sailed on so we were a little concerned about being with such a big crowd, but it wasn't really an issue. Most cabins were sold out so I believe the ship was at it's double-occupancy capacity, although only a handful of kids so not as crowded as it can be.

We did almost the same itinerary in 2018 on the Escape and loved it, this trip added Newport R.I. Check-in and boarding was a breeze, no issues at all. Balcony stateroom was just as expected and perfectly clean. The steward was polite and made sure we were taken care of.
