This was a family reunion trip planned by parents 1 year in advance. We live in Westchester and the cruise departed from NYC, so you could not beat the convenience. No planes! When we embarked, we were able to eat immediately and the depart from NYC party on deck was fun. The kids immediately wanted to get in the pool to go on the kid friendly water slides. The kiddie area with the water fun games was a good place to feel comfortable that the kids were not going to get hurt. The pool was nice and warm and very clean. The all inclusive drink package was nice in that you did not think about the cost of every drink. The food at Cagney’s and Tepinyaki were one of the best restaurant experiences I have ever had. The room attendant and all of the staff were incredibly friendly. I was put in a good mood everyday. The Splash academy was also something that made the trip feel like a real vacation as it gave us time to relax away from the kids. Read Less

I chose this cruise because of the layover in Bermuda. I received much more than I expected. The ship was totally awesome. Always something entertaining, but yet could be relaxing as well. Met wonderful, exciting, interesting individuals, the good was great!!! There was always something tasteful to eat. Sidebar-gained five lbs. worth every pound. But the best part of the Norwegian Escape Wes’s the staff. All of the staff. All jobs well done with a smile and always courteous. Amazing!!!! The cruise director was so very entertaining. The captain was personable. The steward was polite, professional and always accommodating. I thought this would be a one-time trip. However, we are already making plans to go again!!!!!! Highly highly (did I say “highly “) recommended. I am hoping to have more friends and family join us because we want everyone to expect the wonderful experience we had. Excited to board again!! Our family took this cruse to celebrate our parents 50th wedding anniversary. Our party was a total of 8 people. It was great quality family time, we ate together every night, the services and crew were so friendly and helpful. The specialty dining was outstanding, but the buffet was just as goo. We attended two shows and the quality of the production exceeded our anticipation. The pool deck had plenty of room, chairs and friendly faces. We loved Spice h20 and the Grotto Once docked in Bermuda the access to the ferries was great only a few hundred yards from the ship. This was our first Norwegian cruse (my wife and myself) and we will be taking another. I will recommend to friends and family for the quality of the food, staff, entertainment & experience. Our cabin attendant Jose went above in beyond to ensure we had everything we needed. Sincerely, Henry Read Less

We chose this cruise because other families from our son's graduation class were going. We were part of a large travelling party and had a ball! The only negative about this cruise was the loud music. The bands by the pool were so loud you could not hold a conversation with the person next to you. When the young adults 18+ were complaining about the music level, you know it was way too loud. Several complaints to staff resulted in no reduction in volume. The club Bliss and Piano Bar also had excessive volume levels. I would suggest bringing noise reduction ear plugs to reduce ear damage. We found the food to be excellent with lots of variety. We did miss having straws for our drinks. It was a little weird having a frozen drink without one. Don't know why there were no straws on board. Definitely need more bartenders at the pool bar. It took a while to get a drink and the bartenders were pretty cranky when you asked for 2 drinks to save the wait. All in all we still had a great time. Read Less

We weren't sure that our teenager would have enough to do on the cruise and not convinced that she would join in with the Entourage group without knowing anyone. We were totally wrong. She never wanted to leave and is still in contact with the group. The Director really knew how to get the kids socializing and planned great activities for them. That opened up more opportunities for the adults to participate in different games like Yes or No, see all of the shows, try Mojito tastings and Pamper Classes, etc. The activities for teenagers didn't start until later in the day so we didn't have to pry her away from them to at least spend some time with us. The entertainment was great, there were lots of choices for dining and plenty of places for quiet reading in the sun or shade. Bermuda is lovely and it was great to have just one stop for an few days because there's so much to do and see. We went to two beaches, the Crystal Caves, took a sunset Catamaran cruise, went snorkeling, had a nice lunch and went shopping and sightseeing in Hamilton. Read Less

About Us…couple in our 40s, celebrating our 13th anniversary and my 46th birthday on this trip. Have a 9 yo son who loves cruising, but not kid’s clubs – organized activities and sports are not his thing. We’ve been on Disney, Royal and Celebrity, and have done suites / Havens for the past 6 cruises; this is our first cruise as Platinum and were delighted at some of the non-Haven Latitude perks including free laundry, a few bottles of wine, and specialty dining. We save up for this luxury twice a year, and it’s worth every penny for the perks, peace of mind, lack of queuing, no planning requirements, personalized service and a pool you can happily use when it’s cold or rainy. We have met really wonderful travelers from all walks of life on all of our NCL cruises – a number of which we were happy to see again on this cruise. EMBARKATION / DISEMBARKATION Father’s Day was embarkation – so cool to see so many “dad” shirts / ties / hats. We take a car service from upstate NY vs parking. Similar price, but no worries about flat tires, shoveling (not at this time of year, of course), etc. From being dropped off to registering in the Haven lounge was approximately 15 mins – very efficient NCL & Port Authority crew making quick work of seemingly long lines. From Haven to ship – 15 minutes tops. No time to even enjoy the coffee and snacks. We had a personal escort to a private elevator right up to the Haven where I found myself getting a bear hug from Amit – a pool attendant on the Gem last Thanksgiving and we became friends. On the last night of our Thanksgiving cruise he found out he had been promoted to assistant butler. He said that it was his dream job – coming from a village in India without electricity to being trained as a European-style butler after starting out as junior wait staff was why he was so loyal to NCL (and us as well)! Disembarkation was equally smooth. We chose the self-disembark option and rolled our 3 small suitcases down our Haven elevator right onto the terminal. 1 escalator, 10 minutes to and through customs (no declaration forms any more unless you purchase >800$), then met our driver on the 2nd floor of the terminal. We left our room at 0830 and were on the road home by 0915. ROOM H4 2 Bedroom Suite 17712. This is our 4th H4 and perfect for families though a little quirky. This 2nd bedroom does have an odd pull-out bed – straight onto the floor vs elevated. Not a problem for a 9 yo, but for older adults it potentially would be difficult getting in and out of. Master bathroom was glorious – the view from the bathtub is better than most places on the ship! Having 2 bathrooms is such the “mommy perk” – the smaller bathroom has a shower, but strangely no outlets; well-laid out otherwise – we actually measured out the furnishings to duplicate in our own tiny bathroom space at home we are renovating. More storage than you know what to do with, 1 safe, and fantastic toiletries. The free movies were a great way to finish off every night (drifting my son to sleep on the wings of Black Panther) and to break up the monotony of limited TV programs focusing on a ton of world cup soccer. The best part of the room was Jefferson our butler and Diego our stateroom attendant. My G-d…the most pleasant and hard-working gentlemen on the ship. And true gentlemen – their smiles and kindness were genuine, and despite their 10 hour days, they never hesitated to wave, say hello, inquire if we needed anything - generally just great conversationalists. They were so personable – made us feel like family staying in a guest room rather than “customers”. They, plus David and Nimfa the concierges, were extraordinarily….just extraordinary. Every request from every Haven-ite, no matter how ridiculous (and we heard some crazy things while we sat in the lounge), was met with an “of course…let me take care of that for you”. They arranged a birthday surprise by decorating my room, flowers, wine, a “fruit”cake, and rounds of happy birthday songs. HAVEN COURTYARD For the first time in any of our Haven stays, was actually full of people. Not crowded – just not empty. Kids were kids – yes, there was splashing and laughing. But everyone was attentive and respectful. This was the first cruise in which the top deck was limited to 16+ - very disappointing as it was initiated without notice. Apparently, the last cruise had many disruptive kids and inattentive parents – this was the response to all of the complaints. My personal favorite in the courtyard was the dry sauna – no need to spend money on the thermal spa. One quibble is with the poolside bathroom which had a door so heavy that kids / differently abled passengers could not get in and out without assistance. Poolside service was awesome, and the courtyard attendants were always on hand with drinks, snacks and water-spritzing. Nighttime in the courtyard was stunning – the waterfall and colored lighting was just glorious. BTW – the Haven bar and bartenders…again, friendly, cheerful and incredibly inventive. Hubby and I had a number of their creations – rebellious fish, cranberry vodka surprise and Bermuda mule (thumbs up); dark and stormy (meh). They even wrangled up a root beer float for my delighted child. DINING Haven: superb service, and the menu, though limited, was well executed. The breakfast buffet is something we look forward to on every cruise. French press coffee prepared table-side with almond milk was reason to get out of bed every day. After our first meal, never had to tell anyone my dietary preferences. Maître’s D Pamela and Leonora were incredibly kind – made our entire family feel welcomed every meal. My personal favorite dish – berries with Grand Marnier (nothing beats drinking your dessert). Hubby was presented with caviar service for our anniversary – and had a personal lesson on preparation by the chef. Our waitstaff Roma, Pricilla and John went above and beyond to make sure everything (and I mean everything) was perfect! Room Service: Breakfast on a white tablecloth, hot French press coffee, perfectly cooked omelet for hubby and crispy Belgian waffle for little man. Glorious eating in PJs, sitting on balcony overlooking Bermuda, and feeling utterly pampered. Food Republic: Ah…May…Zing. Best view in the house, and the Korean-Mexican-Asian street-food menu was uniquely flavorful. Highly recommend the chili edamame. You can also customize any of the menu items – fantastic for my vegan diet. Bayamo: per my crab-loving hubby and son – worth every penny of the extra charge. Clean lines, classic muted colors made this one of the prettiest restaurants on the ship. Service was impeccable – long pants are required except for night one (due to some passengers historically receiving their luggage late). Cagneys: as always, a favorite. Service was unusually slow, but the meal made up for any delays. Hubby’s filet was perfect – and our picky eater son’s grilled cheese and “Cagney fries” got a thumbs up. My veggie platter was tasty – and perfectly prepared. Got to sit next to 2 couples enjoying their 50th anniversaries and made new friends for the evening. Moderno: Weird choice for a vegan? Nope. Best damned salad bar we’ve been to. The hearts of palm alone worth the price. Hubby called it quits early – taken down by meat on swords. Tip: skip the sides offered at the start of the meal. They just fill you up needlessly. Garden Café: my guilty pleasure for pretzels and Indian food - better than some Indian restaurants I’ve been to thanks to the Indian and Asian crew who know their stuff. Tip: papadams are readily available, but you can also request freshly grilled roti that will knock your socks off. Son and Hubby loved their hard scoop and soft serve ice cream as well – and much more convenient that the Gelato offered on the waterfront. Busy at times, but we never had difficulty finding a seat. And clean, clean, clean – their table service was so fast that our neighbor got up to grab some bread and her soup and drink were scooped up and the table wiped down by the time she got back. ENTERTAINMENT Choir of Man: Oh. My. G-d. Fantastic. Amazing. Talented. This was such a fun night – they invite the guests up to drink at the actual working bar (not just a set decoration) and my son made himself at home. They invited him back up to stage for one of the numbers and he had a blast singing and dancing with the crew. These guys are going on tour in July – and training their replacements this month. Their CD is currently in my computer and I’m loving their harmonies. Such great guys – check them out on YouTube. Genuinely having a great time, and made everyone in the audience truly feel like they were at their hometown pub. And..married or not…anniversary or not…DAMN…these boys are good looking. Read Less

I was travelling with my two teenage boys. I sleep early so they were able to do fun things aboard the ship after hours on their own without me being worried about their safety. I was an early riser so I went and walked the upper deck and watched the sunrise every morning. It was so beautiful. I met a lot of nice passengers by the pool and we shared some laughs. I definitely made use of my unlimited alcohol package. The boys were thrilled with the Garden Cafe which had endless choices of food to please all the family. My stateroom was exquisite. I loved the larger bathroom with double sinks. I enjoyed the shower with four heads to shoot at any part of your body. What a nice experience! Everywhere we went we were greeted with excellent Customer Service and made to feel welcome and appreciated. I would love to sail NCL again. Read Less

We chose the Escape for a family vacation after a particular trying year. Booked a year in advance. We splurged on a Haven Forward Facing Penthouse as part of our "treat" to ourselves. First time in any type of suite environment. I can understand why people say "Once you go Haven you never go back". Even with some little glitches, it was the best vacation we have ever taken. The Haven was great! I will say, we really did not use our Butler at all and I used the Concierge more than I ever thought I would. It was just nice to have someone accessible without waiting in line for 20min to ask a simple question of. Having the Haven space to go to to relax vs the general deck was great and the Haven Restaurant offer the Best Meals at sea I have ever had. I even asked about one of the side dishes that my family ordered every night, Scallop Risotto, and they brought me a list of ingr. from the Chef! Service was top notch. We also enjoyed the main area of the ship at night. Le Bistro's meal was fantastic, Loved Cagney's as well. Moderno was not to our tastes but everyone likes something different. Howl at the Moon is where we spend most of our evenings and can't wait to go back on the next trip in Oct 2019. We also had Spa passes and I can't imagine sailing without them. I could live in the Thalassotherapy pool! Napped in a lounger every afternoon there. This was our 3rd trip to Bermuda and I just love it there. Spent a great day at Horseshoe Beach, had a glitch with a Jet ski tour but it all worked out in the end. All in all can't wait to sail on the Escape again even if we are going back to our normal inside room and would highly recommend the ship and the Haven to anyone looking for a fantastic vacation. We chose this cruise because we never cruised before and since we live in the boston area we had the pleasure of no flying. This cruise was unbelievable. The service was excellent, the staff was so friendly and attentive to everything, especially the bar staff. The ship was very clean and well maintained. We booked a mini suite on the 11th floor and our steward Mochammad was so hard working and always willing to help, he kept the room immaculate and even made us a animal of towels every night, so creative! Bermuda is absolutely beautiful and we did two excursions on our trip. The restless native catamaran was the best and they made the excursion so enjoyable. We would definitely do it again as the whole crew were exceptional and you even got free rum swizzles on board the catamaran. We also did the caves and waves excursion which was a little disappointing, because it lasted 6 hours and you really didn't get anything other than the cave tour and beach (clearwater beach?) We love Norwegian and would definitely book with them again! Read Less

Everything about this cruise was top notch!!!!!!!!! Driving to the port was quick and easy with parking conveniently located walking distance to the ship. Checking into the ship was quick and streamlined. We were able to get into our cabin immediately when entering the ship. Our spacious cabin was on the eighth deck with a great balcony. The cabin was clean, bight and happy. We meet our friendly cabin Stewart shortly after entering and she could not do enough for us. We explored the ship finding our way to the 12th deck where we ordered drinks and had a great lunch at the Garden Cafe. There was a fun band playing and the fun was definitely happening around the pool. People were dancing, swimming and enjoying all the excitement. That night the four of us in our party ate at the Venetian restaurant and had great service and truly great food. Our friend Kate is gluten free as well as vegetarian. We mentioned it to our server just lightly while talking and she quietly introduced us to the restaurant/food manager who personally planned Kate's next nights meal with her!!!!! He could not have been nicer or made it more easy. We did not ask for this hands on service but could not have been more impressed or thankful for the attention. It blew us away. We attended shows in the Stardust Theatre as well as the main atrium while at sea. Our friend Tom visited the casino where he won $90.00. My favorite activity was sitting on the top deck in the sun, using the pool and people watching. The pool and hot tubs were great. I never had trouble finding a sun chair(...... or a drink). We arrived in Bermuda porting at King's Wharf Dock Yard. Ton's to do there. Everything from shopping to restaurants to a smaller beach called Snorkel Park. We took advantage of the public transportation which is super easy and inexpensive. We took the water ferry to Hamilton then the bus back to dock yard. Easy, easy, easy and fun. We took three excursions from the ship; The Wild West kayaking, the sunset glass bottom cruise and the Crystal Caves/beach experience. My advice on excursions is do it! It's worth every penny and a blast. If money is the issue at least take advantage of the public transportation and hit the beaches and the high lights of Bermuda. We were pretty much back at the ship every night for dinner and entertainment. We ate at the Venetian, Aqua, the Asian restaurant and the Garden Cafe. We were never disappointed in the food or service. We never had trouble getting drinks or any service. All in all a great experience, worth the price and super fun and easy. I cannot say enough good about everything. I honestly wouldn't change a thing about my last vacation. Ship was great, food was great, entertainment was great. The staff could not do enough for us. We had a drink package as well as the wifi package. Read Less

My husband and I took this cruise with our four adult children to celebrate our 30th anniversary. Embarkation in New York was quick and efficient. The staff at the port was very friendly and helpful. We arrived at the port about 9:30 and were eating lunch on the ship shortly after 11:00. Our rooms were ready around 2:00 and our luggage was delivered shortly after. We had a fantastic trip - many positives and only a couple negatives: Staff - the staff was outstanding. Every single crew member we interacted with was friendly and eager to help. When our room steward, Jocelyn, found out from my daughter that it was our anniversary, she immediately decorated our door. At dinner, the servers presented us with an anniversary cake and sang. It was also our daughter-in-law's birthday, and she received the same special treatment. We quickly made friends with several of the bar staff, and they regularly called us by name when they saw us. Ship - the ship is huge! Like the other ships we have been on, the pool is tiny and it was usually packed, but we don't usually spend a lot of time at the pool so it isn't a big deal to us. There is lots to do and we enjoyed the ropes course, the miniature golf , bowling and the water slides. The ship is divided up well and never felt too crowded. Entertainment - We weren't sure what shows we would want to see so we did not make reservations before we left. If you want to see a show, be sure to book before you leave or very soon after arriving on the ship. Quickly everything was filled up and we only got to see a couple comedy shows. We did really enjoy listening to Beau in The District. He has a great show that is lots of fun. We also enjoyed live music in several of the bars most nights. Dining - We thought the food was very good. There was a good selection each night and with so many places to eat, you never got bored. We had the 3 meal specialty dining package and we ate at Cagney's, Le Bistro, and Moderno. All 3 were good. With 6 people in our party I booked the reservations online 90 days before our cruise so I could get what we wanted. Besides those, we also ate at Food Republic, Taste, Savor, The Manhattan Room, O'Sheehans, Margaritaville, and the buffet! Other cruises we have been on have allowed us to use any onboard credit toward our daily service charges (gratuities). On this ship, onboard credit cannot be used toward the service charges on your account, or in the casino. It is considered a non-refundable credit that must be spent on the ship - gift shop, dining, etc. We didn't realize that until the last day, so we got to do some unexpected shopping. There are several smoking areas on this ship, and it was impossible to avoid all of them. That was the only big negative for us. Bermuda - I can't say enough good things about Bermuda. It is beyond beautiful, the people are so friendly and it is easy to navigate. On the day we arrived, we did the Restless Native Snorkel and Sail Catamaran excursion and it was fantastic. I booked it directly on their website and it was $30 apiece cheaper than through Norwegian. Then we played miniature golf at the Dockyard course - I would recommend doing that in the evening so you can enjoy a beautiful sunset. The next day we enjoyed Horseshoe Bay early, then headed to Hamilton for lunch. We took bus #7 to Horseshoe Bay, took a taxi for about $20 to Hamilton, then took the public ferry back to the Dockyard. There is lots to explore in the Dockyard - we really enjoyed the museum there. Disembarkation - went very smoothly. We carried our luggage off the ship about 9:00 and got right though customs and on our way. Read Less

We arrived at the pier at 10am and were on the ship by 11. Amazing that they can board so many people so efficiently. The ship is beautiful and clean and the service was beyond any cruise we have been on. This was the 13th with NCL and the 20th overall. We booked a mini suite with large balcony and it was very roomy and comfortable. The balcony had two chaise lounges, two chairs and a round dining table. Way bigger than the standard balcony. Dining was excellent in both main restaurants and the specialty restaurants. There were plenty of activities available and the entertainment was very good. Bermuda is absolutely my favorite island! So clean and beautiful and the locals are very friendly. The beaches are incredible with pink sand and turquoise waters. We took the Millionaires Row Boat Tour with Mark and his crew, which was wonderful and informative. The captain Jamie, sang a beautiful Bermudian song for us. We can’t wait to return to beautiful Bermuda on NCL! Read Less

Although my initial thoughts about staying in one port for 2.5 days was dumb, I happily found out that I was very wrong. Bermuda is a great place to visit and you need more that 2 days to do it. The best way I can imagine is on the Escape. This is a great ship with lots to do. The weather didn't cooperate the first 2 days but that was ok we found a lot of things aboard to keep us busy. I be fair we were in the Haven which really enhances the experience. Food in the speciality restaurants were great, as well as the Haven restaurant. The others were average to good. Loved The Brat Pack and After Midnight shows, although unless you feel you younger kids can handle sexual innuendo and foul language I would not bring them. The slides were great and the drop slide can be a little scary for some. The rope course although it looks dangerous the harness do keep everyone safe. Yes the pool is small but in my opinion it would be as bad if all the chairs hogs were not there. It looked like have of the loungers were empty and there wasn't that many people in the pool. Bermuda is one of our favorite places to visit and it did not disappoint this time either. This was our first time on the Escape. It reminded me of the Breakaway in layout, with a larger size. The ship is in good shape and was easy to navigate. Our room in the Haven was a good size and we spent most of our time there. The Haven courtyard and pool were unusable for us because both the pool and the hot tubs were very crowded and loud. The last day the pool was closed early although the seas were calm. On the Escape the Haven bar is on a different floor than the restaurant so you do not run into people as often and make that connection. We ate most of our meals in the Haven dining room, and a few meals in the buffet. The buffet had a good selection and the food was warm when it was supposed to be warm. The quality was good. We also ate in Cagneys which was good, but the sides were hit or miss. The Haven dining room was very casual compared to other Haven trips. The food was the same for every meal but consistantly good. The entertainment was good. We enjoyed After Midnight much more than Burn the Floor on the Breakaway. In my opinion Brat Pack was awful. I have seen the movies many times and enjoy the music. The show was basically outtakes from the movies with a very thinly linked story. The casting did not make sense (the actor playing the 'geek' from several movies became the 'cool guy' from another?). If I did not know the movies I would have been confused by the script. It reminded me of something that would be shown in a high school production. The performers themselves were talented, the production they were given was in my opinion not good. I had high expectations before the show, if you are a big fan of the movies I would recommend lowering your expectations so you are not disappointed. Bermuda was beautiful as usual. We took the NCL ferry to St Georges and it was easy and fast. The other days we took the bus to beaches and everything was clean and perfect. Getting on and off the boat in Bermuda was easy. The cold drinks getting on the boat are a nice touch. Debarkation was not terrible, we were off the ship relatively fast considering the size and on our way home. Read Less

Going on the Escape was a new ship and Bermuda was a new destination for us. We enjoyed both thoroughly. From the time we boarded till the time we left, we felt special. There were a few familiar faces in the crew but there were so many new experiences on this ship. Old favorites for dining but new places that we couldn't wait to try. And a few that we didn't get to. The entertainment onboard was topnotch. The Choir of Man was outstanding. If we had enough time, we would have seen it twice. Bermuda is beautiful and the people are super-friendly, open and welcoming. They love their country and are great story-tellers. Just ask anyone. We enjoyed our trip so much that we are sure to do it again... In fact, we might be booking it again in August of this year with friends! We have things to celebrate and there are a few things that we didn't get to do on our first trip! The customer service was phenomenal. We would recommend this cruise to all! Read Less

To experience the new NCl mega ship.. the Escape, a beautiful ship. Love the free style, the appreciation of the return guests and the friendliness of the crew members. The entertainment and the activities were set up for different age groups and there was always something to do onboard. The nightly shows were offered at different times and days to give everyone chance to choose and see at their own time. The different dining options was a plus. I also love the spa package.I have celebrated two birthdays onboard NCl, one on the Gem, thanks guest services for the cake that I shared with my new found cruise friends. The Escape has comfortable studios and lounge area for single travelers. Solo activities and a crew staff in charge of planning activities daily for solo groups. Shoutout to Jeff our leader and the hotel director Mr Ucar and Guest services team. I love to celebrate my birthday onboard NCL ship, they always welcome me back. Cruised out of NYC, seamless process embarking. Lovely views of NYC and the Statue of Liberty. Ship is in pristine condition, offers everything you need for a relaxing enjoyable vacation. Freestyle dining is so relaxing, such a wide variety of dining options. Menu choices were wonderful. Service is outstanding, friendly and most attentive. Bermuda is a beautiful island, clean, easy to navigate via bus or ferry, beaches are clean and picturesque. Kayak excursion was enjoyable, easy to navigate the ocean with a great tour guide. City of Hamilton is fun to explore, pretty flowers and small parks. The Swizzle Inn is a must to visit, delicious food and beverages along with the Frog and Onion. Best part of this cruise was having two full days and a half day to explore the island. Very relaxing as the ship is your floating hotel and you can come and go as you choose. Read Less

We sailed on the Escape early 2016 which was very early in the inaugural season to celebrate our 50th Anniversary. We couldn't wait to return!!! As a Haven guest, the embarkation process is a breeze. No long lines, early boarding (11:00 am), priority treatment with a special check-in room which includes refreshments.....escorted exclusive private boarding straight to the top of the ship with no waiting for an elevator! Once in the Haven lounge, refreshments were being served as we waited for our cabin to be ready. Margaritaville was welcoming the Haven guests and offering complimentary service as well. We took advantage of this offer ~ as we experienced during our first cruise, Margaritavile nachos are to die for & the view of the NY skyline isn't bad either ;-). We can't say enough about the service in the Haven where the staff address you by your first name and remember all the special drinks and foods you enjoy. Good friendships were formed and we had a great time "having fun". Oh ~ forgot to mention Bermuda ;-) Beautiful island, but truth be known, we could have sailed for seven straight days and never left the Haven!!!! Read Less

This was our first time on the Dawn, and it more than met our expectations. We wanted to go to Bermuda, but not on the bigger ships. We have sailed many other NCL ships, (Starward, Magesty, Norway, Jewel, Gem and the Sun. We never were disappointed in the service food or entertainment. We live near NYC, and when looking for a cruise to Bermuda, the only choice we had was the Escape. We did not want to sail the big ship, so we chose to drive to Boston and booked the Dawn. Well the Dawn is in a class by itself. The ship is older, but the Captain has made sure that she is beautifully maintained' The staff is unbelievably attentive, and they look like they really work as a team. We met many Bostonians who have sailed her many times to Bermuda and have only good things to say. Many that we met said that they were sad that she will be going to New York next year, and will miss her and the staff. The entertainment was outstanding. Patti and Jose was very talented musicians, and they plan to stay on the Dawn. Dave Dingo, Cruise Director does a great getting people excited about the events of the day.The comedians, Julie Barr, and Harry O'Donoghue keep us in stitches. Harry is an Irish comic, who plays and sings Irish favorites. Chris Burke and the dancers gave great performances. The high light was Elements, a award winning production show. We took a 3 hour Catamaran Cruise and Snorkel on the Restess Native, gave us a chance to swim and snorkel in beautiful Bermuda waters. Great crew and would do it again when we return to Bermuda. On the last day we took the ferry to Hamilton and had lunch at the Hog Penny, nice service and good food. It's one of the oldest restaurants in Hamilton. Deciding to drive to Boston from Long Island was a good decision. Parking was easy, the Dawn more than met our expectations, and we loved sailing with Bostonian's I can say ParRk the CaR i HaRvaRd Squar with a Boston accent. Read Less

Oma and Papa treated grandson, age 6 and his sister, age 3; other grandson, age 3 and his sister 14 months AND their parents to this cruise. The two families had an inside cabin across the hall from our mini suite where all hung out on the balcony. Our son and daughter are veteran cruisers and we are NCL platinum. In preparation for this cruise, I bought the families clip magnets to hang the dailies and flashlights with magnets to stick to the wall by their bed in case the kids got scared in the night. I had the kids color tropical fish (Oriental Trader) and glued magnets on the back to put on their cabin door so they would know which cabin was theirs. We flew in the day before and stayed at the Holiday Inn Express on Boston street because they provided transportation from the airport and to the cruise port. Great choice for us. We took the Old Town Trolley around Boston during the day and walked to a chain restaurant near the hotel for dinner. EMBARKATIION: We were dropped off at the port by our hotel shuttle. DD had forgotten to print out her luggage tags, but this turned out to be not much of a problem. There was a desk that looked up her reservation and gave her luggage tags. There was a bit of a wait to get checked in, but not too bad. I was surprise and delighted at how quickly luggage got to our stateroom. CABINS: The inside cabins had the two beds pushed together and one pull-down bed with a rail. The other bed was like a mattress on the floor next to the double bed. This made for wall to wall beds at night, but safe sleeping for the little ones. We chose the mini suite because it had a tub for the baby's bath. Glad we did for the extra room over a regular balcony cabin. Our cabin was port side. I had wanted to be on the dock side in Bermuda, but as it turned out, late night parties on shore kept up those who were dockside. On our trip back to Boston we saw dolphins and whales from the balcony. DINING Staff was always pleasant and the receptionists at the main dining rooms did their best to keep our family of 10 together. Only once did we have to use two tables. We learned early to seat kids between the adults, since together they got each other wound up. They had kids menus and crayons, but I brought small (matchbox type) toys to keep the kids entertained. We also brought disposable cups with lids and a sippy cup to keep the spillage down. Food choices were fine for the kids. Adults thought there was a great variety of choices for them. The parents of the the 6 and 3 year old could bring them to the buffet in the evening and then take them to the kids program. This way they had a couple of quiet dinners for themselves. Oma and Papa took the 3 year old and 14 month old so their parents could have a quiet dinner. Then we went to our favorite specialty restaurants; once LeBistro and once Teppanyaki. KIDS ACTIVITIES: The Dawn has the best kids pool area for young children that we have seen on any other ship. It is separate from the adult pool, has two big and one small slide, a hot tub, shower, and a splash area. Our kids loved it. It can get a little crowded with the addition of the adults watching the kids. The 3 year olds and 6 year old liked the kids activities. They only took advantage of the evening activities. Oma went to one of the activities with the 14 month old in the Guppies program. Silly Oma. One needs to get down on the floor to play with the child and Oma can't do that very well these days. I questioned the age appropriateness of the activity in that the youth leader was expecting them to know their colors. Anyway, the baby was enthralled with the shows with music, lights and dancing in the Stardust Theatre. ADULT ACTIVITIES: As NCL platinum members for the first time on this cruise, Oma and Papa took advantage of the complimentary behind the scenes tour. Fabulous! Staff smiled and greeted us even though we were kind of invading their territory. Amazing at all the details that go into running this ship. SIL took advantage of the activities offered through the fitness center and was happy with it. Our main focus was the kids, so we did not take advantage of many of the other adult programs offered. PORT: The third time to Bermuda for 4 of the adults in our family of 10. We came into Bermuda on a Sunday afternoon. We were the only ship in port. We decided to go to Horseshoe Beach since it might be more crowded when the Royal Caribbean ship came in on Monday. We took the mini bus right off the dock for $7 per adult. Great time! Only had to pay half price for chairs and umbrella since were were there later. Monday we took the Bermuda ferry transportation to Hamilton and then a bus to the Crystal Caves. Easy ways to get around using public transportation. Tuesday we took the complimentary NCL shuttle to St Georges. It rained most of the day. We went to Tobacco Beach and had it almost to ourselves because of the rain. We had brought our own snorkel gear. We were getting wet anyway. Read Less

I've taken several cruises on different cruise lines. My friend and I did a girls get away to Bermuda from Boston on the Dawn. ( 3 whole days in Bermudas port) I've done the bigger ships and different cruise lines, but I like the Dawn the best. If you want to have a good time but still find time to relax, this is your cruise. The Dawn is just the right size, not too much walking but still enough to do and plenty of eating and drinking venues. We did the spa package, very relaxing. We also had several massage / acupuncture treatments, and I would say none were as good as in the past. We rented scooters in Bermuda for 3 days, and although I've read suggestions that you should reconsider renting... we were so glad we did. It is a bit unnerving driving on the opposite side of the street at first, but you do get used to it. Just be careful and be mindful. Bermuda is pretty easy to find your way around and if you get lost, you're not lost for long. Only 22 miles long and 1 1/2 miles wide, if you need directions or advice, everyone in Bermuda is friendly. Read Less

We sailed the Escape last May (2017/western Caribbean) and loved everything about the ship. When we heard she was relocating to NYC, it was a no-brainer to book the Bermuda sailing since we live in PA and could drive to the port. Our precruise stay was at the Hilton Garden Inn in Ridgefield Park, NJ (seven miles from the port). Price included lodging, breakfast, parking all week, transportation to the port and pickup after the cruise back to the hotel. We booked a mini-suite with a large balcony on Deck 8 (8134). Perfect location. Close to everything (dining, shops, The Waterfront, casino, atrium). We did specialty dining four evenings: Teppanyaki, Moderno and Cagney's (twice). Book as early as possible, especially if you're planning to go to a show since dining takes more than an hour at some restaurants. Entertainment/shows were excellent. Top notch comedy. Some of the no fees shows were sold out, but I stood in the standby line and was able to get in. Entire staff were very friendly. Loved the washy-washy guy! Bermuda is a beautiful island. So much history. Did a five hour island tour, catamaran tour and daughter did parasailing. Lots to do in the dockyard area (shopping, restaurants, mall, jet skiing, mini-golf, beach area). Other tours are also available in the dockyard area. The icing on the cake for me was the ship's Thermal Spa. They only sell 150 passes. $199 if you prebook before the cruise/$219 if you book after you board. They do not sell daily passes. No children under 18. Very quiet area. The large pool features jets to massage different parts of your body, whirlpools, sauna, steam room, snow room, salt room, regular loungers and heated tile loungers that overlook the ocean. Also includes men's and women's locker rooms/shower area. I spent at least two hours at the Thermal Spa every day. Did self assist disembarkation. Was off the ship and on our way home by 9 a.m. Read Less

Family Cruise to Bermuda. Loved the Escape. Loved the food. Service needs help - especially in the dining room and specialty dinners. Went to Cagney's and didn't get food for 1.5 hours after we sat down. Tables around us were already eating desert by the time we got our dinner. Manhattan dining room needs help with service as well. Took over 30 minutes to get desert after dinner. The bartender at Tobacco Bar wasn't happy at all. If you have the Ultimate Beverage package, it helps to tip a dollar for drinks. They really appreciate it. Nobody was at the District Brew house - I was really surprised. They had great beer! The buffets were never crowded and the food was great. There was always a variety for a family to choose from. We avoided the middle pool deck - it was crazy loud all the time. We enjoyed the Spice H20 deck. Very relaxing. Wish they would play music though. The grotto was great and definitely cooled us off. I was worried about embarkation and debarkation after reading reviews. But it was probably the best I have ever experienced on any cruise. The workers at the port need to learn how to be nice. They were demanding and pushy. The NCL rep that checked us in had anxiety and kept calling somebody to help him. It look about 30 minutes and finally another NCL rep told him to remove himself for 15 minutes. Read Less
