Food was terrible in all the places on this ship. We were in all the main dining rooms & 3 specialty restaurants. Pools were sad. They were either way too overcrowd or closed for an event or cleaning. Chairs were impossible to get if the pool was actually open. Service was average and most others were also complaining. Room was okay, basic room, normal balcony. It felt like they tried to cram too many people on one boat and forgot about creating space to breathe. The entertainment on the boat was okay but poorly planned as they jumped from one theme to the next. I was very excited to try this as the pictures looked great but was disappointed. If you want something basic for a ton of money than this is the cruise for you. Royal Caribbean is so much better and I suggest sticking with them. Not worth double the price for half the experience. Are you ready to share a 20 square foot pool with the rest of the people on the boat? How about pay extra for the shows or not being able to go because it's all sold out within the first hour? Bermuda was pretty nice but there isn't really anything to so on the ship that's fun. The game shows they have going on are impossible to see because again, too many people to see it. For my experience, I'd much rather be at home, working my full time job. Because that's more fun than sitting in the small room, and sitting in this small room is still more fun than colliding with everyone at the pool or just sitting at one of the pool chairs. The food was pretty good but as per usual, it's just the same stuff over and over again, unless you want to pay an arm and a leg for any food that isn't included for free. In bermuda, get ready to pay for literally everything. Want to go to the beach, you have to pay admission to get in. Want to have a chair? It costs 20$ for one beach chair and another 30$ for an umbrella. To sum it up, save some money by ripping it up and throwing it into the air. Read Less

Prior to this cruise, I have sailed with NCL four times. On each of these cruises, I've had fantastic experiences with the staff throughout the ship as they helped create positive memories that I can share with my family for the rest of my lifetime. Unfortunately, that was not the case with the NCL Escape. I booked this vacation as I had high expectations from my prior experiences with NCL: clean public areas, courteous staff, fantastic dining options, and notable entertainment groups. By no means was I expecting a 5 star service, but I was expecting familiarity with the friendly services I have received in the past. On this voyage, I traveled with my two sons. The process of embarkment was chaotic, as usual, but quite simple to manuever within. Once on board the ship, everyone crowded the Garden Cafe as the staterooms weren't finished from the previous cruise. Since I boarded later, there was no where for my two sons and I to sit in the Garden Cafe. We ended up eating on the floor outside with our carry ons. Remember, since this is a larger ship, many places are destined to become crowded throughout the duration of the trip. Although our cabin was not perfect, it was satisfactory. For the three of us, we had enough storage space to store our clothing but lacked space to comfortably walk from one side of the room to the other with the sofa bed out. The bathroom was surprisingly spacious for the size of the cabin overall. By far, the best feature of this stateroom was the balcony. Being at sea for a little under three days, it is critical to take advantage of the on board activities the Escape has to offer. However, since there are over 4,000 guests on board, and limited activities to choose from, it is hard to attend the ones in high demand. If the activities did not require reservations, it was empirical to get in line at least thirty minutes beforehand. If the activities did require a reservation, they were booked within the first couple hours on board the ship. Nevertheless, the activities that I attended were good. There was a female comedian who was superb and a male comedian who was alright. The musicals were lovely and the play re-enacting the Breakfast Club was fun to watch. There were also two public pools, a waterfall cave, six jacuzzis, four waterslides, a ropes course, and mini golf for guests to enjoy. In my opinion, the dining experience received is a critical factor to the overall cruise experience of a guest. With that said, the overall dining experience was fair. I ate at two speciality restaurants as well as all three complimentary restaurants, the Garden Cafe (buffet), and O'Sheehan's (presumably open 24 hours). Of course, shore excursions were offered on the ship but not worth it for Bermuda. I highly recommend booking your shore excursions through Expedia as they are cheaper yet exactly the same. For example, my sons booked the Rising Sun shore excursion which was $100 through NCL but only $75 through Expedia. Through this one excursion alone, I saved $50 by booking through Expedia. If you got this far, you are probably wondering why I left "Terrible" as my overall rating of this cruise experience. First, the ship was too crowded overall. The sun decks were clustered with people and it was near impossible finding a row of chairs next to each other. The amount of guests on board the ship also play a role in the cleanliness of the ship. In the 18 and older sections of the ship, it was usual to find beer cans and cups floating in the pools in addition to the jacuzzis. At night, it is not a surprise to see vomit near these areas either. Speaking of 18 and older sections, these areas of the ship were poorly monitored. Here, anyone can casually walk in or out of these sections so it was common to see children in areas where they weren't designated. So, when you are up at midnight in the club, don't be surprised when a little kid strolls through groups of people grinding on each other. On Carnival, your key card would have to be scanned to gain access into these areas which I highly recommend NCL to do in the future. Second, I was a the Spice H20 bar on the 17th deck ordering drinks with a group of people. Since we were sitting at a bar top, a bar hop approached us and took our orders with our key cards. 40 minutes passed and we had yet to receive our drinks. Another bar hop walks by and we asks him what happened to our drinks and more importantly, our key cards. Luckily, he was able to find our key cards but the bar hop who took them disappeared. Through this bar hop, I order another drink and although he serves me promptly, he hands me the key card of a different guest than disappears as well. When I went down to guest services to cancel my key card and get a new one to gain access into my room, I was questioned as if I was in the wrong. Third, the dining options were not as exemplary as I would have enjoyed. Although advertised as 24 hours, O'Sheehan's closed at a certain time. I ate at two specialty restaurants during my stay on the Escape: Cagney's Steakhouse and Teppanyaki. Teppanyaki is a hibachi styled restaurant which I enjoyed very much however, Cagney's Steakhouse was disappointing. The wait staff were rude and took long to complete our orders. Once our food came out, it was not cooked to par as our steaks were either over cooked or under cooked. Surprisingly, the complimentary restaurants were great, with little to no wait, and I would highly recommend you dine here as opposed to the speciality restaurants. Finally, I was sitting at a bar connected to O'Sheehan's. A fight erupted behind me and as I tried to move out of the way, I was hit in the ankle by a thrown chair. It took security several minutes to disperse the fight. Once the fight was settled, I talked to security as I wanted to report the incident who referred me to guest services. I went down to guest services who told me that they could not help me or do anything to make my experience with NCL better. The next day, I woke up and noticed my ankle was black and blue and decided to go to the infirmary however they wanted to charge me to look at an injury I received on board the ship. Overall, I was not satisfied with how this situation was handled and wish I received more attention and the people who were involved in the fight were penalized for their actions. Four years ago, I would have recommened anyone and everyone to NCL. It was child friendly but also provided an environment for adults to escape. Now, I would not recommend NCL to anyone. For children, I feel that the NCL Escape promoted an unsafe environment through the constant fights that incurred on board as well as the lack of boundaries set in place. Meanwhile, for other travelers, the NCL Escape leaves much to be desired. Read Less

I have been on Norwegian Cruise lines in the past. I have to say, I will never go on another cruise again. I'll fly to my destination. It's all about quantity and NOT quality where in the past NCL took pride in everything, the waiters came to the table with the food orders on silver platters, with silver covers and the covers was taken off then the plate was placed in front of you on the table. How do you have 1 pool for 4000 people, that is CRAZY, the ship was too big, the cabin was nice, but I do miss the little chocolate mints that used to be placed on your pillow at night when your bed was turned down. the staff was good, but loud in the morning for the buffet breakfast, Bermuda was gorgeous , but I'll fly instead. the food was terrible, get rid of the Italian restaurant, I don't know what that was, that was NOT Italian, the only thing I liked was the beverage package. and if I had to go on another cruise, it would be a much small ship. Let’s start with my husband lost his ring they wouldn’t check cameras for the ring but came to the room to search through are things when he didn’t lose it in the room that’s the first second staff very unpleasant kids activity closes at ten can’t play ping pong or golf after ten pools are not drained at night so all these people in the pools just floating bacteria and the worse housekeeping makes your bed don’t even give clean linen seven days same sheets worse ever love the gem will definitely be on that cruise soon don’t think I’ll ever go on the escape after this cruise I’ll do a resort all inclusive paid way to much money for this boat when even the slides closed early for the kids not a very friendly family oriented boat would love to see other people reviews let’s see how they like it Read Less

Just returned from Bermuda on NCL Escape. Worst cruise ever. No enforcement of hand cleaning before eating(came home sick, also witnessed staff washing tables with dirty bucket of water), children in adult pool (kids pool closed twice for who knows why), smoking in one area only with a smoke screen above it (so people smoking on decks), on board credit given and after spending it was told there was a glitch in system (there wasn’t, everyone else in party received it. Beware seems like a scam) could not get anyone in billing to help, manager refused to meet me. No one to serve or help in casino. No instruction how to embark or depart from ship I was traveling with someone in wheelchair. After departing was told had to go back onboard. Nevertheless after traveling over 6 times aboard NCL, I will not be using them again. PLEASE BEWARE and check your bill and take airborne before traveling with them. Read Less

This was our first and last cruise with NCL. The food was terrible. The buffet food was hardly edible. Food at the main dining rooms like Venetian and Aqua were tolerable but had no taste. Luckily the specialty restaurants were good. One of the specialty restaurants gave us a hard time about a dress code that we were never told about. The service desk people were not helpful and uncaring. The rooms are cramped. My husband and I hit our knees and heads several times. Nothing to do on the ship unless you paid extra. The entertainment was subpar except for the singing of Patti and Jose which was excellent. Both us and the couple we travelled with had no hot water on the shower. They only came to fix it the next day at our insistence. They didn’t seem to care or apologize for any inconvenience. We have been on 5 Carnival Cruises and have loved every single one of them. NCL should take lessons from them about how to treat their guests. Read Less

I chose this cruise for my boyfriend and I because it seemed like a good bang for your buck at the time. Plus, I'm not a huge fan of flying and thought this could be a fun alternative. The cruise itself was super easy to book and board. When we got on the ship, we were the youngest people traveling alone, we're 25. Everyone was very old and very slow moving (not to mention the judgemental looks and entitlement to the elevator). The food was terrible. Part of the appeal to the cruise was that the food would be good and easy. Unless you were willing to pay for a full meal every night, you are eating the fattiest, lowest grade meat and the blandest options of everything else. It was a week of french fries and soft serve. You couldn't bring your own booze, the booze package was $800 per person, and if you did pay for the $11 mixed drinks there was barely any alcohol in it. The island we went to, Bermuda, was absolutely amazing. We rented mopeds and did the excursions we were interested in on our own, beating crowds and saving money (the places didn't charge as much as the cruise line charges). Back to the boat for two days of $50 bingo and french fries and both my boyfriend and I contracted scabies from the mattress. Awesome. If you want to spend $2000 to be with the dinosaurs of the country, eat mush and get scabies than the Norwegian Dawn is for you! Read Less

Not a family friendly cruise. Not much entertainment option. Very lazy staff and after two days they started repeating the menu. Breakfast was same all 7 days. of planning. The only thing that worked for us was splash academy for only 3+ kids( not under 3). They did not allow kids with swim diapers in the pool. Therefore we were stick with our 15 month old daughter. Also they wete charging for kids under 3 $20 for 1hr 50 min session with 100 caveats. There were charges for all entertainment games like bingo etc. They were showing Frozen an Paddington which are 3-4 year old movies. Ship was clean and well maintained. Shore excursions were average nothing great. Our room steward was never able to clean our room. Tv in our room was not working, we complained three times but no one came to fix it. We booked an ocean view room but was given a room facing staff balcony. Read Less

A friend of ours recommended this cruise, it was the worse cruise we ever went on. We went on about twenty other cruises on the celebrity and royal caribbean lines they always gave us very good memories but the norwegian escape left a very bad taste in our mouths, we wouldn't take another cruise on the norwegian , even if they offered us a free cruise, it was terrible.there were only a few things we enjoyed on this cruise, we attended a show it was called after midnight it was great, the cabin was nice and the cabin stewart was excellent. For the most part the employees were ok. On a whole everything else was bad, believe me we never felt down after any cruise we took except for this cruise on this norwegian escape.to add to our misery, my lady gloria wasn't feeling good so i took her to the medical center,she was their about three hours and charged us $2,365.68, that was the last straw. And we forgot to mention that it took over three hours to get off the boat. We're very unhappy about this cruise no good memories to reflect on like we had on the other cruises on the celebrity and royal caribbean cruise lines,.we can't wait for our next cruise on either the celebrity or royal caribbean, so we can erase those terrible memories on the norwegian escape.
