Staff, food & drink, ship, entertainment, excursions, all fabulous. One of my best vacas ever. Staff couldn't be friendlier or do enough for you. Hot food was hot and cold food was cold----and all delicious ! Ship is possibly considered a smaller older ship but it was plenty festive & fun if you wanted to be festive and plenty relaxing & quiet if you wanted to relax. Pretyy ship. Always clean. More than enough lounge chairs on the sun decks for full capacity ship which was great ! We saw the Irish musician/comedian in The Stardust Theater and he was GREAT ! The Famous Homes & Hideaways shore excursion was relaxing and interesting and fun ! Small boat for this excursion was not overcrowded. Roomy cabin (balcony cabin on deck 8) with enough "storage" to unpack just fine ! Magnifying mirror, safe, hair dryer, liquid hand soap at the sink, small fridge, fully working TV, and coffee pot in the cabin were big pluses. The bed was soooooooooooo comfy. Never slept so good ! Clean and pretty cabin. Nice balcony with two chairs and a little table. Pool towels provided. Shower was roomy and I wasn't expecting that. Shower was modern and worked great---Instant hot water when turning it on and good water pressure. Didn't hear much noise at night when turning in early from inside the cabin even though 8058 is in a convenient location right near stairs & elevators ..... and also near Stardust Theater.! Read Less

Birthday & celebration The staff on board will exceed your expectations and wow you for every second you are aboard. We were concerned when we booked. Getting help from NCL over the phone was painful. We had help with an outside travel agent who really did the heavy lifting on planning this trip...unfortunately after we booked directly with Norwegian. Once the travel agent from AAA help out....we knew we had a great trip planned. Once aboard...the staff was awesome. Food was excellent and plentiful. Better than the Capital Grill and Legal Seafoods. Loved the entertainment... Julie Barr, Tina Turner Act , Irish comedian show was excellent. We watched the Newly Wed Game with actual guest....very, very funny. JC Sanchez....you had us in stitches!! JC your cruise director had a week of fun, fun and more fun planned 24 / 7 We would book this trip with our friends and family members in a heartbeat. Read Less

One of the best cruises I’ve been on I will definitely take this cruise line again to Bermuda. Great beaches, shopping and restaurants. Enjoyed lunch at bone fish and visited Tobacco Bay Beach and Bar. Norwegian also had some great specialty restaurants like Los Lobos and Bamboo. The shows were entertaining and there was plenty to do on the pool deck. Also had a chance to visit horseshoe bay and some of the great landmarks in Bermuda See you on my next trip very soon!!! Thank you Thank you Thank you Thank you. To staff and crew of Norwegian Dawn you all deserve 5 Stars for giving everyone 100% each day we were on the ship. Keep up the great work. So I normally board with royal Caribbean, where everything is pretty much 5 stars across the board , from the food to the entertainment , the clubs, and the cleanliness of the ship. But boy oh boy where do I begin with the Norwegian escape . FOR STARTERS THE FOOD IS TERRIBLE. Disgusting . My family and I were sick almost every night to our stomachs. They use low quality ingredients, THE FOOD IS COMPLETELY DROWNED IN SALT , & also the drinks are crappy as well. The cleanliness of the boat was not up to my standards whatsoever, many times I was given dirty silverware, cups, glasses, and plates . The entertainment is boring, the shows are not worth the trouble you have to go through trying to book it . That’s right you heard me you have to BOOK THE SHOW ON A CRUISE YOU ALREADY PAID FOR. Okay on to the next problem, the employees are so unhelpful and some are rude and I also experienced a racist encounter at dinner one night. You will run into a few amazing employees , but it dosent make up for the lack of customer service given through most of the employees. I CAN GO ON FOR DAYS ABOUT HOW TERRIBLE THIS CRUISE LINE IS BUT IN ALL PLEASE SAVE YOUR MONEY . Don’t do it . You’ll regret it . You will regret every dime you spent . Read Less

The food is fair, the staff could be trained better. If you like a big ship of people who want to reach their 15drink per day drink package then this is the ship for you! Also be aware of the promises NCl makes and what they deliver. I have been on 5 NCl cruises and took a break from them in the last 8 years. It seems their marketing strategy is charge extra for everything! They give you a fair price then for seven days all they do is to try to sell you or charge you for extra.the last straw were the marketing calls to your room on selling you the next cruise! Definitely low end with lots of extra charges! The adult only pool is a joke with kids running around. The ship is not so clean. Their staff is mostly at the bars. Food is fair! The buffet is dirty! It’s a joke how they keep on pushing you to buy stuff! I want a cruise to relax not a cruise filled with pushy salespeople. The gym was nice yet filled with one water fountain for water. The instructor showed up constantly late. The complimentary class was 7 730 and 5 and were 15 minutes with the instructor showing up late! It’s an insult to get up early for a 10 minute class. Their excuse is pay and come to the 45 minute class. The spa was unkempt never had robes or towels in afternoon. Read Less

We've been on several cruises now, and my thoughts about this particular ship are the following: 1) the decor is modern and lovely, 2) the volume of people is too much, 3) the shore excursions are well executed, 4) the food in the dining rooms far surpassed the garden cafe food, 5) the ship has a ridiculously small adult pool with limited seating, 6) our 6yo loved the splash academy, 7) the staff doesn't seem particularly happy. We chose this sailing based on itinerary (Bermuda), without much preference for what ship took us there. That being said, I will move forward choosing smaller ships with less bells-and-whistles. The Escape also chose more pay-dining areas over community spaces/pool space, so there's that to consider. If you're a foodie and don't care about pool area/library area/reading nooks, this is your ship! Overall, I'd say it was okay enough, but I would likely choose a smaller ship in the future. Read Less

I wanted to give a review of the Escape, but don't have time to write out every single detail so I've narrowed it down to some pros and cons. To give you some background, I have been on RC and HA before, though it has been over 10 years since my last cruise. My boyfriend also cruised with Princess almost 20 years ago. Since it has been so many years, it would be unfair to compare those other cruises to this one. We had heard excellent things about NCL from people who sailed with them previously and decided to book with them, especially since we live so close to the NY port. Pros: The ship is impressive; An adult only area is available (Spice H20); Every cruise employee was friendly and eager to please; The room steward (Jerome) always had our room in great shape; A variety of food options available; It was nice having 3 days in one port (Bermuda); The self-debarkation was fast. Cons: Food was only a step above cafeteria food (I don't blame the chefs, but believe NCL purchases cheaper items to keep costs low. While I've eaten in high-end restaurants before, I also love a good Costco hotdog and Kraft mac and cheese and those items would have been better than what we ate.); Service was very slow in restaurants (wait staff was friendly and eager to please though-maybe the kitchen was far?); It is difficult to get reservations at the specialty restaurants (which often remained empty even when they said they were booked); Crowds were overwhelming (It was difficult to get around the ship at times. Elevators were impossible. The first day especially was unpleasant with so many lines and people crowding in different areas.). Overall, we had a great time together and in Bermuda, but found the cruise to be just okay. We probably wouldn't cruise NCL again unless they had some unbelievable deal available. As I mentioned earlier, other people have said great things about NCL, so maybe your experience will be different. Just wanted to give my 2 cents! Read Less

This was our first cruise we have ever been on. Overall the food, service, and ship itself was great. We love the ocean and really enjoyed the "cruising" aspect of it. But I must say we learned a lot about being on such a large crowded boat. The biggest disappointment was not getting to reserve a single show we wanted to see. They were completely booked up for the entire trip the very first day. They have a line you can wait on to see if any seats become available 15 minutes before the show, but we decided it would have pissed us off a lot more if we stood on line just to find out we were not getting in anyway. They had a lot of entertainment throughout the ship in the restaurants and bars, but it would have been nice to see a couple specialty shows. Another surprise for us was the small size pool for such a large boat. It was super crowded especially when they were having a contest. If you weren't out there early in the morning, you were not finding good lounge chairs anywhere close. The water slides and rope coarse on the boat were fun though! The food overall was very good. The buffet had a large variety for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. There were only a few other restaurants that were complementary, three of which had the identical menu. This didn't make any sense to me but I guess they are looking for you to spend more money at their specialty restaurants. The cabins were a little tight, but its to be expected since we only got the basic stateroom with a picture window. We didn't plan on being in the room much except to shower and sleep. We did have a connecting room for our teenage kids which was nice sense these rooms are only good for two people. Unfortunately, we are torn on taking another cruise or not. For the amount of money we spent, we didn't get to enjoy all that the ship had to offer. It was over crowded and again, all the specialty shows we wanted to see were book for the whole trip on the very first day. We have enjoyed a lot of different all-inclusive resorts much better. We are avid cruisers and have done the last few in the Haven. We enjoy the priority embarkation and debarkation, room size and most of the amenities included in the Haven. We live local so no flight involved and booking through Costco gained us a $785 Costco gift card upon return. NCL direct booking couldn't offer anything close. Entorage teen club is for 13-17 year old teens. Basically the only ones that went were the younger girls and older boys, not a good combination. Shows were average, Escape the big top hasn't changed since last year, Dueling pianos good, Comedy Excellent. Bayamo/La Cucinna Average. Cagneys below average (Steak was supermarket quality at best). Tepanyaki was above average. Bermuda is great but most of the port shuts down early, no nightlife. We rented a Pontoon boat locally and did some swimming and snorkeling on our own. I highly recommend doing so. Read Less

Everything was absolutely top notch, as our past experiences with Norwegian have been. From Embarkation to Debarkation, nothing was amiss or a disappointment as far as quality and service. Staff is wonderful and the food is fantastic. Very clean and modern. My only complaint is the business of having to make reservations for shows and comedians, which of course is not limited to this ship alone and is done on other cruise lines. Stop calling it "Freestyle" cruising when this has to be done, and there is a risk of losing your dinner reservation if you're more than 15 minutes late. Royal Caribbean and Carnival also makes you have reservations for the main dining rooms for anytime dining, but they have a much longer window. While Carnival's shows are not at the level of Norwegian or RCL, their comedians are generally better and they never require reservations for any show. Every show and comedy show we saw had plenty of empty seats, which was our experience on The Gem and The Breakaway as well as every Royal and Carnival ship we've ever been on. In other words...No need to make reservations. If it's full, then it's full...try again another time. This is really our ONLY complaint. It's hardly "Freestyle" by any means. Food was outstanding no matter where we ate. Garden Cafe, Taste, Savor, Manhattan Room and some of the speciality restaurants - all totally top notch. We especially like the Brazillian steak house, Moderno, which we also ate at on The Breakaway. Every staff member was polite, courteous and accommodating, although the occasional singing can get a little annoying. We would definitely go on again, but also love the other lines as well and will probably do one of them sooner since we switch around. While we cruise often, this was my Mother's first cruise in more than 35 years and she was astounded at the size and scale of everything. We kidded her a lot when she remarked that there was no skeet shooting and that the cabin stewards used to lay out women's night gowns for them. Read Less
