11 day cruise with my family from Iceland, to Norway, to Scotland and finished in London. Fourth time sailing with Norwegian, first time on one of their smaller ships. As we had anticipated, it was very much in line with our other Norwegian cruises, just with smaller venues and less bells-and-whistles. The staff was phenomenal; always professional, friendly and helpful. We lost one of our ...
We chose the cruise because of the destination and because we could stay for 3 back-to-back cruises shortly after 2 back-to-back cruises on the NCL Star. We have cruised with NCL many times and our experience this time was very consistent. The staff, especially some of the key managers, are wonderful friendly and very good at their jobs (for the most part). There are some who didn't get the memo ...
This was our 11th Cruise on NCL and second time on the Dawn. As always we had a great time. Every cruise is what you make of it. We chose this cruise because of the itinerary. St. Petersburg was originally on the schedule but was dropped for obvious reasons. It was replaced by an overnight in Helsinki and a stop in Visby good choices.
Embarkation went smooth we arrived a little earlier ...
We (groop of 7) booked the cruise from Iceland to Greenland on NCL Star. The cruise is very expensive comparing to other destinations.
The expectation was very high as well as our disappointment of the cruise.
2 ports were cancelled due to whether/sea conditions. It is privilige of the captain and we cannot judge if his decision was justified or not. But we understood thia is not rare ...
This is the ship that Norwegian chooses to send to the arctic and to the antarctic.
They should not.
It's a below average ship, maybe similar to the ones carnival uses for its bargain cruises. The food is somewhere between mediocre (on the high end) and palatable. It is bland, and the ingredients are of poor quality. When the highlight of every meal is the soup, something is off.
But ...
In 2019 a similar itinerary on the NCL Spirit was also not achieved. We did not visit Iceland. Then this time we decided to take a cruise from Iceland itself. Well, our first cruise after the pandemic and after two years planning, we took the NCL Star from Reykjavik to visit 3 ports in Greenland and 3 ports in Iceland. Itinerary timing is wrongly designed because at these latitudes, the weather ...
We choose this cruise because of the opportunity to visit Greenland for the first time and return to Iceland which we had seen on an NCL cruise 5 years ago but not on the Star but on the Gem. We were concerned that the ship was much smaller and older then the ships we typically travel but because of the ports we decided to book it.
By the time of our cruise we were aware the last scheduled ...
My partner and I chose this NCL rather expensive cruise because half of the 11-day cruise time was to be spent in Greenland. When we were checking in at the cruise terminal at Reykjavík, we got our first unpleasant surprise of the cruise, The Captain had cancelled all the Greenland ports and was taking the ship to Norway before heading back to Iceland for the last 4 days of the cruise. If we had ...
Wife and I and 3 siblings, all over 60, cruised to Scotland, Norway, and Iceland from Southampton England in July 2022. This was our 29th cruise and 7th on Norwegian. We choose our cruises on locations and this one took us to each one in comfortable surroundings. Specifics:
BOARDING: Covid test required 3 days prior for Europe sailings. We tested at home in Florida on Thurs for a Sunday ...
The cruise was awesome and one of the highlights of the day was the Captain's announcement. They were hilarious, not sure if he was trying to be, but they were. We started in South Hampton, Scotland 3 stops, Norway 2 stops and then Iceland 3 stops. Missed a port in Scotland due to high winds and not favorable tendering conditions. Weather was pretty normal for this time of year, rain and ...
