Our family of 9 (two 11 year olds) boarded the Norwegian Joy on June 22nd out of Seattle, and returned on June 29th. Overall, it was a great way to see Alaska. The staff and cabin were great, partially offset by the large number of cruise goers, the daily service charge, and the benefits/activities/restaurants that weren't covered by the basic fare.
We had four cabins next to each other with ...
Let me preface this review by stating that this was my 50th cruise. Prior to this cruise I have sailed on other NCL ships, Royal Caribbean, Holland America, Carnival, Princess and Celebrity. Embarkation was smooth and quick, we were on the ship within 30 minutes from arriving at the dock. The ship is brand new and modern but is quite odd. I know it recently underwent a dry dock to convert it ...
This was a first cruise for my husband and me. We took our 9 & 11 year old grandchildren with us on this Alaskan cruise. The Norwegian Joy was recommended due to how new the ship was as well as the size. I have a trouble with seasickness and wanted to prevent if possible. We had a balcony, mini-suite, mid-ship on deck 10. The room was very spacious for the 4 of us. It was obviously very new ...
Whatever issues were present in the 1st few weeks from the move from China to Alaska have been ironed out. We are experienced Norwegian cruisers and have lots to compare to, the service aboard the Joy equaled or surpassed other cruises we have been on.
BTW, Alaska is amazing. The views never disappointed and more importantly; the people we met were genuinely nice and eager to share their ...
This is our fourth cruise on NCL, and it has left us wanting. After getting on the boat my wife and I instantly noticed that the Joy was lacking compared to the other ships. Below is a list of glaring issues that made our overall experience less than desirable.
1. Despite the fact that the website shows pictures of a thermal suite on board, we asked the staff where it was and they informed us ...
The food in the dining halls has gone way down hill, and the buffet food was ok. Manhatan and the other formal dining rooms were awful. We returned ordered food back to kitchen and stopped going there.
Never seen a cruise ship with so very few entertainment programs. Elements and Lavity Comedy were very good. Other shows were so boring and waste of time. We were glad had good friends with ...
We took the Alaskan cruise out of Vancouver on the Jewel. Sales was great, but customer service after we paid for the trip was difficult to reach. Air arrangements were made by NCL, and we had to contact NCL to find arrangements as they did not contact us once arrangements had been made. HINT: Air arrangements are NOT on the website under the Air Arrangements link, but in the Print Documents ...
Unplugged, family time together, wanted to explore Alaska with the hopes of returning on our own in future. Wonderful first cruise experience. Excursions were all booked through NCL - whale watching, Mendenhall Glacier in Juneau, Musher’s Camp (our favorite) and Zip-Lining In Skagway, and Lumberjack Show and Electrics Buggies in Ketchikan. Cagney’s was our favorite. Also loved The Garden Buffet ...
We choose this cruise to see as much of Alaska on our vacation week as possible. This northbound cruise was in each port the longest amount of time that gave us a relaxed vacation.
Our daughter took this cruise in 2017 & with all her travel experience we didn't shop around for any other cruiseline.
We were pleased with our tenth deck cabin. The balcony allowed us to lounge comfortably ...
* Excellent: the itinerary (Alaska Inside Passage 7-days northbound from Vancouver), including Glacier Bay which was a highlight; the food at Czar's Palace and Azura; the service at Azura was outstanding; the focus on leaving minimal environmental impact; the viewing room into the bridge was great
* Good: overall friendliness and service of staff; the entertainment and music were professional ...
