BACKGROUND INFORMATION
This was an Alaskan adventure on the newly refurbished Norwegian Joy. Alaska is one of our favorite locations to sail. The scenery and sea life can’t’ be matched.
We sailed on inaugural Bliss last year and we were scheduled to be on “inaugural” Joy after her $50M refurbishment to move her from an Asian-based ship to an “American” ship. But, NCL had other plans and ...
We sailed in early August on the Joy out of Seattle. This was our 4th family trip on a cruise and second on NCL.
We spent 2 days in Seattle prior to boarding the Joy. We had great weather and our hotel downtown (Hilton Garden Inn) was nice, clean and convenient. My parents were staying at the Westin, also downtown, and they enjoyed it as well. We did the usual touristy things in Seattle and ...
Norwegian cruise was a smooth sail for us all. The checkin/checkout process was very well organized compared to any other cruise we have done so far. The range of restaurants and variety of food this ship offered was amazing. Housekeeping was great. At the sea entertainment had things for all ages. Dance party was great!! Service was exceptional. We really enjoyed our cruising experience. The ...
Always wanted to travel to Alaska and thought a cruise would be a great way to go. Our travel agent recommended NCL and we had heard good things about the cruise line. All in all we had a great time but it was a rocky start to the cruise. On the 1st day after we boarded the ship we went to OSheans for lunch. We waited 45 minutes for our food to arrive and it was all served to us at the same.. the ...
The Jewel crew originated mostly from southeast Asia. That means the pizza on board tasted terrible but the Malaysian and Indian food was the best I ever had. I gained 10 pounds. My wife gained 7 pounds. Our 1 year old daughter gained 2 pounds. We got off the ship fat and happy.
I really appreciated the Guppies playroom. My daughter and I were there at least 4 hours a day on Sea days. They have ...
We just finished a northbound Alaska cruise from Vancouver to Seward. This is our second NCL cruise in less than 12 months and we continue to be impressed with the level of service. We always buy the specialty dining packages and they are very reasonable for the quality of the food. The promotion packages are also part of the reason we book early as they are a good deal... just beware you pay tax ...
Spent almost a year planning on taking off. Hadn't had any time off from work or responsibilities in years. We both work demanding jobs and have a small farm with many animals and rescue dogs. Upgraded cabin and perks, had Norwegian plan my entire trip including travel arrangements - paid DEARLY!! They got the cheapest, cut close arrangements possible. Missed connecting flight, wanted to send ...
How often can you say that you had a vacation with almost no complaints? This was my first cruise, as well as my first time in Alaska. I couldn't have imagined a better experience! My friend and I arrived in Vancouver a few days early to check out the city, and I'm glad we did. Beautiful city with something for everyone. The cruise itself? The embarkation was the only not-so-great experience ...
After doing research on cruise lines, we chose Norwegian based on the amenities and the itinerary, and they did NOT disappoint! This was our first cruise and from preparations and pre-cruise communications to embarkation, we knew exactly how to prepare and what to expect. We boarded the ship with ease and had one of the most incredible experiences of our lives! Our cabin was bigger than we ...
ship is only two years old. very clean and modern.
3 main dining rooms all had same menus, so you had your choice for dining. dinner menu could of been more selective. so called nightly specials not up to par that i have experienced on other cruise lines. had about six items on menu all seven nights and about six specials. food was tasty, but could of used a better selection ...
