Great Way to See Alaska, But Make Sure Your Expectations Are Realistic

Review for a Alaska Cruise on Norwegian Bliss

I feel in the current travel/cruising environment that having appropriate expectations, doing your research, and understanding individual priorities (and picking a cruise line/ship accordingly) is the #1 key to having a good cruise experience. Therefore, this review is lengthy and detailed to clarify not only our experience, but also our expectations and travel priorities. Summary - we had a ...

Context: This was our first cruise so I’m sure we made lots of newbie mistakes, but we hope this will be helpful for anyone considering this specific cruise. Here is my review of the NCL Bliss Alaska cruise April 29 to May 6, balcony stateroom on deck 14 with the free at sea package - for your consideration. We don’t shop so I have no shopping advice except to say that if it says “made in ...

Norwegian Spirit: loved the size of the ship and the recent refurbishment made it feel like a new ship. Our window cabin 55** was perfect for 2 people. This ship is the quietest one I’ve ever been on. You could hardly hear the engine or feel vibrations. I only went to a few of the production shows and they were of a very high standard. Food onboard was typical of cruise fare but we loved the Asian ...

I selected this cruise since it cruised the Hawaiian Islands before setting sail to Alaska. The ship itself is beautiful after its major renovation, we were reluctant at first to select the cabin ocean view right at the front of the ship it was greater than I thought the view of the bow, the rain on the window at night was very nice. We have been to Alaska quite a few times and enjoyed it once ...

NCL Spirit - each shop has its own character and atmosphere

I chose this cruise as it hits two of my must see destinations - Hawaii and Alaska. This was a repositioning cruise out of Honolulu ending at Vancouver. 16 days with 7 or so sea days. Clientele mostly USA or Canadian on their way home. Age group was primarily 60s and above, though I did see a couple of toddlers under 7. There is really nothing to do for kiddies on the ship so be aware if ...

I've sailed NCL many times, but this was my first time on the Bliss. It is a very large ship and can get crowded in certain places. We were able to work our way around this and never really felt the burden of the large ship and almost 100% capacity, but it takes some planning. The ship is lovely. The crew is great and the food is amazing. Alaska never fails to impress and delight. A couple ...

Ship: Beautiful and big ship, one of few NCL ship with huge observation lounge in the front (other than Haven Lounges), where light meal/snack and a bar was open most of the time. This is where the Glacier Bay NP rangers hosted presentation overlooking the Glaciers from 8-noon. ship layout with one central point with two elevator banks on forward and rear. As typical there is no indoor ...

The Norwegian Bliss is seemingly a fun ship, especially with young children in mind. Lots of outdoor playing opportunities like the Speedway, Water slides etc. Plenty of eating venues, both specialty dining and casual dining. Foods are good and have good varieties. The casinos were well run. And the entertainment was good too! And we feel pretty safe to travel with NCL! What bothers us the most ...

We had last cruised NCL in Fall 2022 on back-to-back cruises on Prima and Breakaway. So when we felt like another cruise, kept it simple and cheap with this respositioning cruise. Our first time on this class of ship. In general, this is a good ship with many things to do and good specialty and general dining. There are typical challenges with over-crowded elevators; limited seating in public ...

First and Last Time on NCL

Review for a Alaska Cruise on Norwegian Encore

After an almost 20 year hiatus and after becoming a recent widower, I decided to take another cruise again -- this time as a solo traveler for the first time in my life. I had been to Alaska previously on Crystal and Princess and wanted to go again, so I chose NCL because they are one of the few cruiselines to offer solo cabins. My travel agent informed me that they were having a special sale on ...
