Cruise was very crowded, not enough seating for shows and theater. Design of ship may hold over 5,000 passengers. Due to this, many of the core shows required a reservation and most no occupancy. The Atrium area, where a lot of game shows and the band would play was very, very crowded and no seating.
Embarking took very long.
DeEmbarking was even worse. They had all stairs blocked ...
We chose NCL because we have cruised with them before. This is a new ship so we thought it would be perfect. I have to say everything was just ok except Alaska itself. Alaska is a beautiful place to visit and I recommend the first part of May. They said dress in layers and bring rain gear, neither of which I used but we had a blessed weather week with temps in the 60’s and 70’s.
I bought ...
It had been almost 6 years since we cruised on Norwegian. This cruise brought back memories of why they are not a preferred cruise line for us. The embarkation process at the port of Seattle was a nightmare. My wife had already completed the online check in prior to the cruise. Yet we had to wait in a long line at the port to receive our room cards (just over two hours). This should not happen ...
We joined a group of friends on this 11 day Alaska cruise. We have done several Alaska cruises and it is a favorite of ours. Most of our group had never been on a cruise before and/or had never been on an Alaska cruise. NCL started on the wrong foot. This was the ships first cruise to Alaska in 2023. They had just come off a bad stretch where the ship lost power and had other problems. After ...
We love Alaska and love to cruise (this was number 50 for us) and are NCL Platinum which has some nice perks so when this cruise came up at a fantastic price, we jumped on it. But this was an example of the old truism, "You get what you pay for!"
While the Spirit trumpeted its $100 million makeover, our reaction was, "They should have saved their money." Cabin was small, the cabin service the ...
The food is what we previously enjoyed the most, this time it was what we enjoyed the least. The specialty restaurants Cagney’s and Le Bistro had only a few tasty dishes but overall they weren’t anything to write home about either. The coffee everywhere on the ship was like twice recycled dish water. Guessing this is a push to buy the premium drink package. Most of the staff on the ship were ...
Encore was the first cruise to Alaska in May. We boarded in May 7 Sunday morning at the Seattle Pier. First we at the pier to line up at 8:30ish and dropped off our luggage next to the line. There was a line of people before we arrived. Next the line to check our passport wasn’t too bad. Then we walked further to check in at the desk and waited for group to be called. Soon we walked up the ...
I took my parents on this cruise to get away, overall it was an OK cruise. Getting on the ship was expedited because of my elderly parents, which was nice. My parents had a balcony room, which was smaller than average, but nice, and their steward was very courteous and friendly. For the very first time ever I had an inside cabin. Again it was nice and they had a TV which gave you view to the ...
I’m usually not one to write reviews, and I’m usually a pretty easy going passenger. Things happen, mistakes are made, it’s never a big deal. But this most recent trip - 4 nights from LA to Vancouver - I was so disappointed!! Truly! We booked a mid balcony room (no complaints there, great as always) and we had the premium plus drink package. Drinks were great, food was alright (complimentary meals ...
The shine on the Jewel has worn off.
The first and primary problem was the plumbing. On numerous days we saw staff working on toilet issues with their equipment and air fresheners. For two days our toilet failed to flush for hours at a time. We learned about this after returning to our room. No one from the staff cared to call us to notify there was a problem.
Another problem was the lack ...
