Review for a Alaska Cruise on Norwegian Sun

I chose the cruise for the price, ports of call and schedule. FOOD Buffett - Good selection, cheaper items closer and featured more towards the front. 7.5 out of 10 No sweet and low after first two days, yet it was available in other places aboard ship??? Specialty - Italian - Two great meals, filet with blue cheese and lasagna. Red snapper was horrible - dry, tasteless and not ...

I have done many cruises with NCL and the Spirit is my favourite ship. I did a back to back Alaska cruise as a solo traveller. Initially I had a cabin with a porthole. The cabin was on the fourth deck and the cabin itself was fine. It was small but clean and comfortable. The issue I had was that it was so noisy. All night there was noise coming from the sound of the water against the ship. I am ...

Nice cruise to Alaska

Review for a Alaska Cruise on Norwegian Sun

We chose this cruise because of the many ports visited which larger ships cannot provide. The NCL Sun was nicely refurbished a couple of years ago and it shows. Nevertheless, it is an older ship without the latest technology onboard. Internet is rather slow, and they still take food orders manually. Cabins are not spacious as the newer ships. Public areas smaller than new ships. Being a ...

Ports and Price made this an excellent value.

I wanted a cruise that went to Glacier Bay and multiple ports. This was an eleven night cruise which gave us plenty of time to explore the ports and relax on the ship. The crew were friendly and I liked the entertainment staff. This is an older ship that does not have many bells and whistles and it seemed to attract an older crowd. It is a small ship and that made it easy to get off and on at ...

Cruising Thru Splendid Scenery

Review for a Alaska Cruise on Norwegian Sun

Overall, the cruise was enjoyable. However, the obvious theme of cost cutting continues at NCL. The most egregious example was the “Ketchikan” port call, which was actually to Ward Cove. Rather than actually docking in Ketchikan, the ship docked at a sketchy industrial port about a 20 minute drive away and transported guests in equally sketchy school buses to town. Upon arriving in town, guests ...

Restful & Rejuvenating

Review for a Alaska Cruise on Norwegian Spirit

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! It was always my dream to go to Alaska and see a humpback whale. This cruise did both through its great excursion options. I also was in need of a vacation. I chose to make this a healthy cruise - stretching classes; health classes; and healthy (-ier) food choices. The cruise also offered non-alcoholic beverages. I would like to praise to "Daniel" from South Africa in ...

My wife & I celebrated our 25th Anniversary this past week & marked it with our 1st cruise to Alaska. Here's my review of the NCL Encore to Alaska as well as recommendations of things to do or changes I would make if I was going again. Day 1: Embarkation in Seattle Embarkation was actually a breeze. We were amongst the 1st onboard & went straight to the cruise staff to book our specialty ...

Background: My husband and I chose this cruise to celebrate our wedding anniversary, as we believed Alaska would be an absolutely beautiful way to celebrate. We were absolutely correct! For this cruise, we began in Vancouver, BC, and travelled North to Seward/Anchorage, AK aboard the Norwegian Jewel. Travel to Port of Embarkation: For our flights into Vancouver, and from Anchorage, we made us ...

Love the Bliss Haven but NCL's Post Cruise Assistance is Poor

We chose this cruise because it was close to home and had an itinerary that allowed me to work a bit each day (plus I love Alaska!). Embarkation was super smooth, and the Haven departure lounge was wonderful. The Haven on this ship is the best by far. Service was impeccable, especially in the Haven bar and restaurant. The food was amazing, and we wished we had eaten in the Haven restaurant ...
