We have cruised northern Europe, Mediterranean, China/Hong Kong/Viet Nam, Australia, Hawaii, on a variety of ships.
We enjoyed this cruise the least. The ship was so loud and so crowded, so full of drunk people day and night. The center of the ship, the Atrium, was very difficult to conduct business at Excursion desk or Customer service or eat at the Tavern due to microphoned staff playing ...
Info: this is my 5th cruise with a 5th different company.
Norwegian Encore is a big ship, with 20 decks (5-17 for all guests, 4 for gangway, 18-20 for Haven & Vibe). It is quite new, although nearly 4 years old, because of 2 years Covid-Pause. And you see nearly an immaculate appearance.
Embarking was much slower than I was used to. Usually I was on the ship in 30 minutes. Here we booked ...
As with many travelers this was a Bucket list Cruise.
PROS⁸
1. Great food
2. Very attentive staff
3. Expensive excursions but most are worth it.
A. Halibut fishing Ketchikan
* Great guides!
* In ketchikan you are limited to one halibut up to 10 lbs. Only.
* FISH in Junea no weight limit on second Halibut
B. Zip line at icy straits ...
We went on a cruise to Hawaii last year with NCL Pride of America and loved it even though 1/3 of the restaurants and facilities were closed due to (Covid) staffing. We had a fantastic cruise and what was open was superb. I cannot say the same about NCL Spirit! Our cabin was ok but clearly not refurbished. The bathroom vanity was cracked with a jagged edge and sticking out, the trash receptacle ...
Just Don't Do It!
After working for Holland America Line for 6 years, and taking some 20+ cruises, I was talked into a cruise on NCL. Big Mistake! Big.
Cons: Old ship - 22 years
Small suites (we paid over $12K)
You can't bring bottled water onboard, and it costs $5.50 p/bottle to buy.
You are nickel and dimed TO DEATH.
The buffet was awful, lines long, and ...
First time on Norwegian but a frequent cruiser. I've done 32 cruises across other brands, Celebrity, Royal Caribbean, Princess, Virgin, and Avalon for river cruising. The Spirit is an old ship, but completely gutted and refurbished in 2020 or 2022, depending on who you talk to. The public spaces and my room appeared fresh and the furnishings are in good condition.
I paid for the ship ...
The Encore is a beautiful ship but the design of the space does not handle the number of cruisers on board. Over half the time we went to the Garden Cafe there were no tables available even after circling for 20 minutes looking for one. We were advised by the crew to go to a different floor and look for a place to sit there. We have cruised over 25 times and I have never experienced this. Other ...
Alaska was my dream cruise. The Encore, endorsed as a great ship. My party was less than impressed. Our impression was too many passengers waiting for too little space at any event we attended, shows, dining and elevators. The main shows where booked before the ship even sailed and prebookin not permitted.
Food was average.
We had a balcony, the size wasko nice. We rarely saw our ...
Cruise started out bad by our luggage being damaged on the dock and brought to our stateroom with our clothing hanging out of our $600.00 suitcase. was told it wou ld be replaced with a new suitcase (not a $600.00 suitcase) but a new suitcase. That did not happen. our damaged suitcase was brought to our room at the last moment so we managed to get our clothing shoved inside so we could get home. ...
This ship is beautiful and the nicest I have ever been on and I have done about 20 cruises. I disliked everything else about this cruise.
The stops- way too many people on this boat. The lines to get back to the boat were atrocious and you literally could not spend time in the stops because by the time they you waited for the bus to get you there and the 1-2 hours wait for a bus to get you ...
