Nice common areas on deck - appreciated the stage area in a central spot that was consistent with music and entertainment throughout sea days and in the afternoons as cruisers were returning to the ship.

New York to Bahamas

Review for a Bahamas Cruise on Norwegian Jewel

My husband and I, along with another couple, just returned from the New York to Bahamas cruise on NCL. This was our 5th cruise on NCL and our 2nd to the Bahamas. Overall, I thought the cruise was very nice and relaxing. Contrary to many of the reviews I have read, we thought the food was very good considering the price of the cruise. The only specialty restaurant we visited was the steak ...

I just returned today from a 7 day cruise on the Jewel. The reviews I read here in advance were of so much help that I thought I would write my own comprehensive review in hopes that it may be of help to future travelers, particularly those with children, as it was myself, my husband and our 6 year old daughter on this trip. Just a little bit about us so you know where I am coming from with my ...

My family and I were on the NCL Jewel round trip sailing from NYC to Bahamas. This was our second cruise with the line and on the Jewel, and like many other passengers we were excited to be there. Embarkation was smooth as expected, our balcony cabin was ready, clean and on time, but we did have some problems. We were missing beach towels in our cabin, there were 4 of us in the cabin and 1 ...

Great trip on a rough sea

First I must confess that our experience on this trip was made much better by our gradual change from being inside cabin cruisers to the Suite Life. So, take my review with a grain of salt knowing that the Suite perks on NCL are amazing. We plan ahead to afford a Penthouse Suite for these perks and would highly recommend them. Had we been in an inside cabin we would have spent a great deal ...

Six of us went to this cruise leaving NYC to FL and Bahamas. Booked it 3 months prior, not sure if we got the best rate, but this week's rate is quite reasonable for a mini-suite so we splurged on one, with my in-laws across in an interior cabin. Husband and I have been seasoned cruiser, bringing along our 4 yrs old and 20mo old daughters. This is what i recalled for our cruise. Positive: 1) ...

Thanksgiving on the Jewel

The Travelers: Two 30-something single ladies. It was my first real cruise (other than a budget, 4-day deal in high school) and her second (previously cruised on RCCL). The cruise was booked through my friend's timeshare company -- we wanted to cruise out of NY or Baltimore, and had to cruise Thanksgiving week, so there were only a couple options. The main objective of our trip was rest and ...

Background: I have sailed on Carnival, Royal Caribbean and Princess. Was a little bit wary about trying NCL since I had heard the food was not so good and wasn't sure about the any time dining thing. I treated my son and daughter in law to a cruise vacation but told them they could pick the cruise. Part of the deal was they had to pay for transportation to the pier. So...since they were paying for ...

Great room and service on an average cruise experience.

My wife and I chose this cruise last minute as an easy vacation for a few reasons: it offered a special class of suite with a large balcony and butler service as well as leaving from New York City, an easy car and bus ride from our home in southwest Vermont. We were looking to totally relax in a quiet atmosphere with little interaction with other people. Our cabin was amazing (penthouse suite ...

We are seasoned cruisers who decided to take our Daughter, Son-in-law, and two grand-kids ages 8 and 6 on a surprise cruise for school vacation. We chose the Jewel due to the embarkation port being within driving distance, and the fact that it was a Nickelodeon cruise. We booked last minute and got great rates making the trip affordable during school vacation week ( when we checked last fall the ...

We left from NYC in April and it was still quite cool weather, so keep in mind the time of year you leave, cause this takes away from your 7 day cruising, we were stuck inside cause of cool weather leaving and returning. Beautiful clean ship, with bright bold colors, lots of bathroom located around the ship. Shows: JP the comedian/magician was great. Spa: did not use this facility, too ...
