1-10 of 112 Norwegian Jewel Cruise Reviews for Senior to Alaska
When it came time to book our very first cruise, we researched everything we could...dining options, entertainment, onboard amenities, itineraries...and we decided that NCL offered what we wanted.
Freestyle dining? Yes please! Wide range of entertainment including Broadway shows? Heck yeah! Interesting itineraries? Yep, lots to choose from.
Sadly, much of what led us to NCL is no longer ...
The food is what we previously enjoyed the most, this time it was what we enjoyed the least. The specialty restaurants Cagney’s and Le Bistro had only a few tasty dishes but overall they weren’t anything to write home about either. The coffee everywhere on the ship was like twice recycled dish water. Guessing this is a push to buy the premium drink package. Most of the staff on the ship were ...
The shine on the Jewel has worn off.
The first and primary problem was the plumbing. On numerous days we saw staff working on toilet issues with their equipment and air fresheners. For two days our toilet failed to flush for hours at a time. We learned about this after returning to our room. No one from the staff cared to call us to notify there was a problem.
Another problem was the lack ...
First of all I have to say, that there is nothing wrong with the cruise itself. The ship is nice, the staff is nice, the food was very good and the landscape of Alaska is definitely worth the whole trip.
But in my opinion there is a big „BUT“ when it comes to Norwegian and I would rather not choose to sail with them in the future:
They sent us dozens of E-Mails in advance of the cruise about ...
First of all never ever let the Cruise book your airline tickets it took us 30 hours to get home. Cruise embarkation was fine .Rooms were clean and very nice room attendant did a great job cleaning but she was so busy she really didn’t get much personal care and I don’t blame her I blame the Cruise for being understaffed. The food was mediocre. Varieties in the buffet minimal. Especially ...
I choice this cruise for the itinerary. Alaska was beautiful but it was obvious that people were walking around the ship with Covid symptoms. People were coughing and not attempting to stay away from others. Staff didn’t seem to care and I didn’t see a lot of cleaning in the stairwells or elevators and other highly touched areas like I have seen in past cruises probably due to staff shortages. I ...
My friend booked this trip for the 3 of us. We left from Vancouver, The first thing that happened, the bus that brought us to the dock just let us out. We didn't have anyone to tell us where to go .Nothing was marked, no signs or arrows. We asked several people and finally found the elevator. Two in our group are handicapped and we wasted a lot of time trying to find the gangplank ..
The ...
We were on the NCL-Getaway previously and we enjoyed that cruise enough to give the Jewel a try. We were excited to go to Hawaii, especially during the months of October and November. The ship had approx 2400 guests on board and many were seniors with some families with youngsters. We had an ocean-view room on the port side and it was comfortable for a couple, although from time to time, we ...
We were aboard the Jewel for the annual repositioning cruise from Alaska to the winter itinerary. There were several really great things about the ship that deserve 5 stars. But there were also several dismal things about the ship that deserve 0 stars.
First, the good news. I was highly impressed by the efficiency in embarkation and disembarkation. It went so smoothly! Very orderly and ...
One and done, complied with bucket list and 7k poorer. I upgraded, I thought to a larger cabin facing but it turned out to be a basic hotel room size, bed hard as a rock couch hard as a rock but it was my first time so maybe my expectations were too high. And also the Wi-Fi that I paid for sucks so bad that nobody should buy it, just do without. I know it’s a satellite-based Wi-Fi but they ...
