I got a cruise bug last summer and booked us on the Jewel. I had been on the S/S Norway in 1996, and again for our honeymoon in 2002, right before it went out of service. Of course, by late July, the biggest room we could get was a minisuite. It slept 4, so that seemed reasonable. (our kids are 3 and 6)

Recently sailed on the Jewel over Spring Break with a nephew. His 1st time cruising, my 6th-2nd time on NCL. THrip could not have been better, start to finish.

Just returned and wanted to give some feedback on the Jewel. She is still a Jewel. We sailed her back in 2005, transatlantic repositioning, Barcelona to Miami. I thought she was so different then and still is today. The colors are bright and airy. Very Caribbean. Not the usual cruise ship. Very clean ship with lots of "washy - washy" being promoted.

The NCL Jewel just misses on its Western Caribbean itinerary. The "Freestyle" program fits well for those looking to get away from a daily routine. The featured entertainment was as good as one is going to see on a cruise ship, however the music nights suffered from poor sound engineering and programs that really didn't make a lot of sense. Overall, I had a great time on this cruise! The entertainment was awesome. I thought the shows at night were so good and really different each night. Don't miss the acrobat show and Le Cirque Bijou show. They were excellent.

Our cabin was the smallest we have experienced in our dozen or so cruises thus far. Bathroom especially tight although the shower door was nice instead of the usual shower curtain. Ship seemed to be efficiently run and well maintained. As bad (small) as the cabin was, the crew that we encountered was among the best we have run into.

First time on a Norwegian Cruise. The overall experience was very good. First the positives: Crew was very friendly and accommodating. Variety of places to eat was very good. Ports were outstanding. (Cozumel, Belize, and Roatan Honduras. Only took one excursion in Honduras and it was fantastic. (Tabayana Beach and Snorkel). Girls enjoyed the shopping in all three ports.
