Nice common areas on deck - appreciated the stage area in a central spot that was consistent with music and entertainment throughout sea days and in the afternoons as cruisers were returning to the ship.

Highs and Lows

Review for a Mexican Riviera Cruise on Norwegian Jewel

I'll start with the highs: We enjoy the Jewel's size-not too big, not too small. The staff were all great, as usual. We enjoyed the shows. We ate mostly at specialty dining for dinner, and we liked them all, especially Cagney's. In Ensenada, we walked to the fish market and had some great fish tacos. In Cabo, we took a ship's shore excursion to the Casa Dorado Beach Resort and it was great. ...

We arrived early into Panama City airport, and the transport started with an impromptu tour of Panama City and a pit stop for breakfast as we couldn't arrive in Colon before 11. The ride to Colon was purely functional, and we didn't view much that was photo worthy. Embarkation felt like sort of a mess in Colon, and it was a relief to finally get on the ship. My bucket list included full ...

NCL Jewel: Panama Canal with Mexican Riviera & Central America

The Travelers: Early 50's empty nesters. This was our fifth cruise, third with NCL, and the second time we’ve cruised without the kids. I’ll say going in that overall I was pleased with NCL, and especially with the Jewel and her crew. It wasn’t perfect, no trip ever is, but it sure was a great vacation. The Cruise: NCL Jewel 12-night, San Diego to Colon, Panama via the Panama Canal with port ...

Mostly Great, but some Major Glitches

We chose this cruise because we had not visited any of the ports of call before, and we have always wanted to see the Panama Canal. The Issues: We were disappointed that Nicaragua was cancelled, due to Covid Protocols. We were not told about this until we were on board. More notice should have been given to all passengers. I think NCL knew well in advance about this situation, and could ...

Panama Canal amazing experience!

Itinerary We were on a repositioning itinerary from 7-night Mexican Riviera to Panama Canal. We selected this cruise because we would visit some different countries while traveling towards the canal. The following itineraries will be in the southern Caribbean, but still with a Panama Canal crossing. There were only about 1500 passengers onboard, so it was much easier than normal to reserve a ...

We have done the Mexican Rivera many times, we live in AZ now so just drive over to San Diego and jump on a ship :). We have cruised many times on NCL so kind of knew the vibe just hadn't been on this one. As we had booked only 3 days before boarding we didn't have much of a choice in staterooms- ended up in an inside one- but had an amazing steward named Mark who helped keep us tidy. Bed was ...

We chose this cruise for a couple of reasons - ports of call including the Panama Canal and second the price was amazing. NCL service is absolutely TOP NOTCH in all aspects of delivery. Everyone was polite, helpful, kind and courteous. The Jewel is a great ship - just the right size - not too big/not too small. The refurbishment is NICE. Ports of call included Cabo San Lucas, Puerto Vallarta, ...

Haven upgrade was well worth it!

NCL sent us an email before the cruise and offered us a chance to bid on an upgrade. I figured why not and bid on a Haven 2 bedroom villa, even though there was only 2 of us traveling. Any woman would love to have the master bathroom to herself! We got the upgrade! Haven was everything you thought it would be. If you have the opportunity, go for it. Only 2 complaints. The Jewel’s Haven is ...

Another very good Mexican Riviera Cruise on the Jewel

This is our third time with NCL on the Mexican Riviera. Our second cruise on the Jewel. The Jewel was refurbished since the last time we were on it although I don't remember any significant differences from our 2014 cruise. The ship's condition was, in general, quite good. Our inside cabin (10617) was, well, an inside cabin. A nice quiet one mostly thanks to quiet neighbors. Deck 10 is ...

Nice ship but too much hustling

Having traveled on Celebrity Cruises for our first cruise last September, we thought we'd try Norwegian. Our expectations were only partially met and the shore excursion to Puerta Vallarta was a scam. We had a balcony and while there was enough space for the suitcases to go underneath the bed, the room it was tight but very liveable. The room attendants were pleasant and always in good spirits. ...
