"We found there are 2 MDR on this ship- The Azura & Tsar's Palace- having looked at some photos on line I thought the Azura would be more of what we would like- boy was I wrong- we ate there only once- the first night- what a fiasco- the noise in the restaurant was nothing short of deafening- we had to yell to speak to one another even though we were at a tiny table for 2- wait staff must have been overwhelmed, orders wrong, hubby's main course came 15 minutes before mine (I had pasta) and we never got the coffee we ordered....Shows were OK- they had an acrobatic couple that was great as well as a Philippino band that played on the main stage as well as one of the bars that was excellent, comedian not so much- started the show off good then downhill pretty fast...."Read More

Review for Norwegian Jewel to Mexican Riviera

We have done the Mexican Rivera many times, we live in AZ now so just drive over to San Diego and jump on a ship :). We have cruised many times on NCL so kind of knew the vibe just hadn't been on this one. As we had booked only 3 days before boarding we didn't have much of a choice in staterooms- ended up in an inside one- but had an amazing steward named Mark who helped keep us tidy. Bed was ...

Comparison to prior cruise experience

Review for Norwegian Jewel to Australia & New Zealand

Incredible weather.   Between riding buses and a rental car for  six weeks from Cape Reinga to Wanaka in New Zealand, the only rain I had was for about an hour driving between Greymouth and Arthur's Pass.  How lucky is that ?!  I saw Queenstown on a previous visit, and highly recommend it and the bus tour to Milford Sound.   The road into the Sound is great. It has been a few years since I took ...

Not bad for a good value solo cruise

First time on Jewel, this was cruise 60 for me. Been to New Zealand many times. Embarkation and disembarkation was long and delayed due to port authorities and health checks for the Coronavirus. Not fault of Norwegian, There was an outbreak of gastro which made the bistro and main dining room difficult as everything was handled and served by staff. Everything was disinfected over and over. The ...

Sydney (Pre-Cruise) We landed early in the morning and were in the arrival hall in under an hour. We collected a pocket WiFi that was reserved through Klook and purchased Opal cards from the WH Smith store for the public transportation. We looked for a Wespac Bank ATM (Bank of America’s partner), but were unable to locate one. That was an exception. Wespac branches and/or ATMs were all over ...

Overpriced & disorganised

Review for Norwegian Jewel to Australia & New Zealand

Standing in a queue with 2000 people to disembark in Auckland NZ while 2 staff look up each passenger manually in a book. I'll find out why in an hour or so. Worst disembarcation I've had in 30 years. Crew are stiff. Food is terrible (stale bread served up with dinner multiple times). Cabin so small there is no chair or table. Not enough space to walk down the side of the bed. Public spaces ...

Best Cruise Ever....

This was the Best cruise I have ever been on. It was a Holiday cruise in December and just the Best Time!!! Christmas caroling, cookies and fun things to do. And the Christmas buffets were spectacular. The food was really good and at times excellent. The buffets were just terrific and I spent most of the time eating at the buffets because they were so good, and the staff were very ...

Part 1 of B2B South Pacific - good itinerary at good value

Review for Norwegian Jewel to Hawaii

We had just completed a cruise on Celebrity from Hawaii to Sydney and loved it so when we saw this itinerary (much better) for a great price we decided to fly back to Hawaii and do it all again. Again embarkation in Honolulu was a breeze. Sadly our upgrade bids failed and so did our attempts onboard, was surprising to find out the cruise was sold out as it had not been selling well when we ...

This was my third cruise on NCL, previous two being on the Star in 2007 and 2009. The recent refurbishment of the Jewel made for a more luxurious trip. Spaces and amenities were clean and fresh feeling. The availability of self-serve espresso machines in the buffet was a pleasant surprise and one I wish was available when I cruised Alaska. Service was exceptional on this sailing, better than ...

Chose this cruise as it left from Vancouver (my home port) and I wanted to see more of Hawaii. Travelled with my cousin & our aunt in an inside room. While snug, we managed to all have enough space for our belongings in the drawers, closet, & washroom. Our room steward was great, the crew was smiling & happy everywhere we went. Waiters in Tsar’s Palace were awesome! My aunt has a food ...

I went on this cruise to see the glaciers in Juno. It was absolutely breathtaking! The services in general on the cruise was wonderful. And the food at the restaurants were very tasty. The shows were spectacular. I also met some sweet and friendly people on board, including a couple of Australian sisters named Robyn and Jennifer, a nurse name Warren and his wife Shannon, an Irish couple named ...
