These Mini-Suites sleep up to four guests, making them ideal if you want to bring the kids. They have two lower beds that convert into a queen-size bed as well as a sitting area, luxury bath with shower and additional bedding to sleep two additional guests. Because they are aft-facing suites, the view from your private balcony is truly amazing.
Cabin 11156 is a connecting cabin to 11154. Cabin 11156 is about 2 feet narrower than the connecting cabin, it is so narrow that to walk by the foot of the bed you have to turn sidways. Other than that this AFT facing mini suite is comfortable, cozy and has a great balcony (with sliding door). Has a sofa, coffee maker, hair dryer, 2 outlets on the desk and a desk chair without arms. The bathroom is not spacious, but the other extra space you get with the mini suite still makes it worth it. The view you get from the AFT rooms is amazing, I stayed in these AFT mini suites for an Alaska cruise and Mexican Rivera cruise, and you can't beat the views. These AFT mini suites are below the outdoor part of the buffet on deck 12, right above the rooms. In the late evening or early morning you can hear them moving the chairs around, and it can be a little noisy. But it never woke me up, and it really wasn't any louder than the TV or the sound of the engines. If you need absolute quite, AFT rooms are not for you. I still feel the view trumps any of the other potential issues (narrow room, loud noises from the buffet or engines).
Side note cabin 11152 is also narrow just like 11156. If you want an AFT facing mini suite I highly recommend booking 11154, its the same price but you get more space.
Overall the carpet, uplostery, bedding, and furniture is not aging well. The ship was refurbished in 2014, but already looks very old and worn. At the Cruise Next presentation on my March 2017 cruise on the Jewel they did announce that the Jewel class ships would be refurbished again in the next couple years, can't happen fast enough! Cabin was not clean upon arrival, fingerprints and smears were on mirrors, sliding door and cabinets and remained throughout the cruise. We left the room each am but it did not get serviced promptly despite putting the "make up cabin" sign out. The days we were in Juneau and Ketchikan we had to be back to the ship by 1pm, on both days our room still had not been cleaned by this time. Read entire member review >>
No complaints with the cabin. Service was excellent. We did not find the decor to be "dated" or "worn" as other reviewers have stated. Being in a handicapped accessible room we traded some storage space in exchange for maneuverability. Read entire member review >>
Nice cabin, plenty of space for two of us, nice comfy bed and a bathtub for those that prefer tubs over showers, but I cannot imagine trying to fit four adults in the cabin. It would have been very crowded. We used the sofa for storage and stacking. The aft balcony was very nice, but honestly we spent more time at "The Great Outdoors", literally one deck above our cabin, but we also had exceptionally nice weather throughout the trip with not one drop of rain, so the open "Outdoors" deck worked out perfectly. For convenience, I highly, highly recommend purchasing one of those plastic, over-the-door shoe storage items. It was great! All of my toiletries, makeup, jewelry, etc. was within easy reach inside the bathroom. Read entire member review >>
This cabin was at the back of the ship right underneath the Great Outdoors. After we had booked I read reviews that said that you could hear them cleaning upstairs. Well after 7 days aboard I have to say I had only one night where I woke up and heard what I thought was someone running down the corridor outside. The balcony was quite large by my standards and adequate enough to seat 3 people. There was nothing that made me regret booking this cabin. I shared with my daughter and son in law and if there is one tiny comment it is that the bed I had was very hard as it was a fold down couch - to a younger person this would not have presented a problem. The steward (Bryan) was such a lovely soft gentle man who did everything in his power to please us that I did not want to complain to him. They put a foam topper on it every night but it was still hard. No doubt he would have tried to do something else had I said but I did not want him to be troubled as they work so hard those people. The bed linen was really in need of renewal as it looked a little worn but it was perfectly hygienic. We did not use a laundry on the ship as there was an offer for whatever you could get in the laundry bag for $19.95 US - quite generous - it came back next night all folded - very good. We loved having the aft balcony and got some great footage on our GoPro when entering and leaving ports. (We also spotted a few whales.... :) )
One thing I will say about the room - we were on Deck 11, directly below the Garden café. So you can hear them setting chairs and tables up until about 10 pm at night. Read entire member review >>
This is a nice cabin with lots of room. It is aft-facing, so you see nothing but ocean behind you off the balcony. However, the view was not as impressive as I had hoped, so I wouldn't pay mini-suite prices just to get aft-facing. I would just get a handicap balcony. Read entire member review >>
Nicely laid out, nice bath with deep tub, adequate closet space. Adequate storage and closets. Needs an alarm clock. Sewerage smell in the general area was not very nice and lasted the entire cruise. We did not experience and issues with noise from adjoining cabins Read entire member review >>
Quiet location in the hall, but you can hear "loud talkers" on other balconies. We became friendly with the people on balcony below us as we could see right down into their balcony. The room was very worn & tired looking. It took us a while to figure out where to plug in coffee maker as it had a weird plug, so just FYI the plug for the coffee maker is by the vanity mirror. There is body wash & shampoo in a dispenser in the shower, but no conditioner and no lotion. Their hairdryer is adequate. We had a fridge & cash bar items in it that we never ate or drank. Way too expensive. (Plus we don't drink alcohol) Take along a power strip as there are not enough plugs in rooms to charge everything you will probably have (cell phones, camera batteries, etc) Read entire member review >>
NCL Jewel 11156Love the aft balcony where you can see both sides of the ship. In Alaska cruising the glaciers, it was awesome to see everything and not be in the chilly wind like those on deck.Just because I like to know these things - there are 20 hangers in the closet & a light if you reach in back to turn it on. 4 deep drawers for clothes. Room darkening drape at the balcony & privacy drape if needed between the bed and couch. Mini fridge next to the desk has room for some of your own goodies. Snack or whatever shelf above the ice bucket above the mini-fridge below two shelf cabinet. 3 drawers in desk, 1 for hair dryer only. Mirrors all over the place. 4 pegs on wall outside bathroom for sweaters/coats. TV over the desk can swivel to be viewed by the bed or couch. Toilet & shower have sliding doors to separate it from sink area, but it is not really private. pegs on inside of door for night clothes and towel racks there also. Small glass shelves for toiletries & two glasses. laundry line in shower. Shampoo & body gel soap in push containers on wall in shower. Read entire member review >>
Aft section cabin, great views from smallish balcony, if you dont smoke avoid as smoke from adjoining balconies is very intrusive making balcony unusable. Bed mattres very soft, bedding valance tatty and stained. Stains on sofa, old fashioned bulky t.v . Bathroom o.k . Quiet location as no one walks past. Read entire member review >>
Cabin 11654 is large for a handicap cabin, nice size bathroom, comfortable bed if you are not over 6 ft tall, lacks decorations such as pictures, wood grain walls and a comfortable sitting area or chair. Read entire member review >>
11656, mini suite AFT has the Great Outdoors upstairs with wood floor & steel tables & chairs. Freezing Cnanada hs them roped off s they were stacked not to be used. Area closed so we have peace & quiet. But Caribbean I'd not take it. Have had Celebrity, RCCL, Princess staterooms with noisy upstairs & they could care less. Read entire member review >>
