Nice common areas on deck - appreciated the stage area in a central spot that was consistent with music and entertainment throughout sea days and in the afternoons as cruisers were returning to the ship.

NCL San Diego to Mexican Riveria April 2023
"Overall, we felt as if the staff on this ship was doing just enough to get by with very little emphasis on service. We ate nights in either of the two main dining rooms and not a ton of food quality difference and servers were slow to clear plates...."Read More

NCL San Diego to Mexican Riveria April 2023

Review for a Mexican Riviera Cruise on Norwegian Jewel

We took this cruise the week of April 16, 2023 and although we did have a good time, it was not because of anything NCL did. We had Priority Boarding and found the staff in San Diego to be very unhelpful. There was no process for explaining or assisting with Priority Boarding which we paid extra for. Seemed like it was simply a charge without any service. My wife asked a NCL representative how we ...

Good quality, few guests, ever-shady practices from NCL

Insane-level service by bar waitresses; surprisingly good but limited entertainment (nothing going on in the day); average food, even in the pay restaurants, but no bad meals; some of the worst shore excursions I've ever been on; one of the easiest embarkations ever and the easiest debark in more than 10 cruises (I literally walked off the ship, no line, and was on the street in San Diego in ...

Mixed Feelings about Cruise

Review for a Pacific Coastal Cruise on Norwegian Jewel

We were aboard the Jewel for the annual repositioning cruise from Alaska to the winter itinerary. There were several really great things about the ship that deserve 5 stars. But there were also several dismal things about the ship that deserve 0 stars. First, the good news. I was highly impressed by the efficiency in embarkation and disembarkation. It went so smoothly! Very orderly and ...

Good crew, tired cabins in need of refurbishment.

Needed a short refresher cruise from a home port. We have sailed on several NCL ships including the Sky, Sun, Gem, Jade, Epic, Star, POA, and this last cruise on the Jewel. NCL has been consistent in their delivery of a nice lower cost product with a casual atmosphere, a little too casual in some venues....We have also sailed Princess, Disney and will be trying Celebrity in September 2017. The ...

New Cutbacks

Review for a Mexican Riviera Cruise on Norwegian Jewel

We are Latitudes - Platinum and have cruised with NCL more than 20 times; on the Jewel at least 4 of them. The things that stood out for us were the obvious cutbacks; some good, some not-so-good. The 'house' wine served at the Latitudes cocktail party was undrinkable. There are no more chocolate Latitudes gifts or chocolates on pillows at turn down. There is no longer a 'Welcome Back' party. ...

My wife and I have been on numerous cruises (4th with Norwegian) I must say that I was very disappointed in this one. Embarkation too a LONG time. There were very long lines and they didn't have enough people to check everyone in. We had a mid ship balcony cabin (1072). The cabin I must say was very nice and very well maintained. The shower was a good size with great water pressure. The only thing ...

Mexican Riviera 4/2 - 4/9

This was our second tour of duty on the Jewel, first time was on an Alaskan cruise in July 2016. I like the Jewel as it's easy to navigate and doesn't have endless corridors like those mega ships. Embarkation was pretty quick. Lots of parking at the cruise terminal ($18/day) and after dropping off our luggage, we were on the ship within 10-minutes. With this itinerary, we were going to a ...

A Nice Ship

We chose this cruise line because it left from our local cruise port in San Pedro Ca. Very few cruise lines now leave from California in the Los Angeles area. The itinerary is one we have done before. It is nice but not exciting. Of the three ports visited Cabo San Lucas is the nicest, followed by Puerto Vallarta the Mazatlan. Mazatlan has the problem of having almost all things to see or shop at ...

We live just a 20 minute drive from the los angeles pier and it was a convenient itinerary for us to book this one week cruise. We have sailed on the norwegian jade from houston to barcelona and the cruise critic group made that cruise the most fun all week long with gatherings and gaming with lcr dice games. We did have the beverage and dining package for this cruise. This cruise critic ...

Service was odd. It seemed like a lot of staff was missing. We had to wait for service quite often. Drinks not arriving till after appetizers served. Waited with menus sitting in front of us for long periods of time. We weren't very pleased with our stateroom. Steward was pretty non-existent. We kept getting a sewer smell in our stateroom that they couldn't figure out. The same smell other ...
