AJ’s Sloth and Monkey sanctuary. We booked this on our own in advance. Shore excursions to these places were longer and more costly. We got transportation and the animal experience for $35 pp. Lots of fun and guide was great.

Been back a few days from a 9 night cruise on the Jade , Barcelona - Canaries . Going to try and be balanced , As i personally don't enjoy reading reviews either stating everything was shockingly bad , or everything thing was perfect .... find them hard to trust . Spend 2 night prior to cruise at the Hotel Grums - only paid £65 per night , including a great breakfast , hotel is only 1 ...

Jade Restored My Confidence in Cruising

This was my 38th cruise and lately the quality of the experience was going downhill fast. I hadn't been on NCL for 3 years and I got a great deal on a mini-suite ($110/pp/day) compared to a veranda on Oceania ($290/pp/day) which is a little smaller in January. Embarkation was a breeze. I was interested to see if the Jade was much different now after the refit. Everything seemed redone in the ...

My husband and i have traveled many years on cruise ships and this vacation we took our two kids with us. Embarkation: We joined the ship in Barcelona and did not have to wait long before we were taken care of. The staff in the terminal were very friendly and professional and we got a great feeling from them even before we on on board. Cabin: We loved our cabin, very clean compared to ...

Don't Panic!

OK - step one - TOTALLY ignore all the bad reviews you've probably read. Some people just aren't right for cruises - and some people just have bad weeks, which they would have had they been at home anyway! I'm not suggesting everything's perfect, but....for example, NCL have a buffet option during the day; it's enormous, and if you can't find something good - from roasts to indian to chinese to ...

Great Time, Better Than We Expected

This was our first time cruising with NCL so we were not too sure what to expect and whether we would like the 'Freestyle' concept. We are 'young' seniors, British & Italian and have been living in Spain for 23 years. There were also very mixed reviews regarding the ship, crew, food, cabins, etc. but fortunately we have always taken reviews by the average and therefore set off with our own ...

Port of Embarkation: Barcelona, Spain We stayed two nights in Barcelona before our cruise at the Arc la Rambla Hotel located right on Las Ramblas. The hotel is 3 star, but in a good location. Its an easy walk from the hotel to the shuttle bus (at the Columbus Monument) that takes you to the ship. The shuttle is 2 Euros. There are many things to see in Barcelona and most sights are easy to ...

Cheap trip in search of some sun!!

Feeling fed up with grey skies we booked a last minute cruise on Jade to go and look for some sun in the Canary Isles. The cruise was fine for the money we paid for it. We have sailed with NCL over 10 times now and must admit things are not as good as they were when we first started. The lack of chairs and tables in the buffet has become an increasing problem, but you can always go to the MDR ...

We live on the Costa Blanca, Spain, half way between Malaga and Barcelona, and decided to sail from Malaga and have Barcelona as our first Port of Call. We drove down to Malaga on Monday afternoon and stayed at the Hotel Malaga Monte which is opposite the Port of Malaga. Very good hotel and not too expensive. We booked our car into a long stay car park at the Port with Red Parking Puerto (very ...

New-look Jade is still a diamond!

Having tried - and enjoyed - other cruise lines we are still confirmed fans of our favourites NCL who consistently produce quality cruising at a reasonable price. The freestyle dining concept has been a proven success right from the start and it is still the best answer for the feeding of the masses. We ate in the Alizar, one of the main dining rooms, on several occasions and the food was ...

We, a child-free couple, have traveled quite a bit. But we wanted something different. Travelling to resorts got boring very quickly, whether we went to expensive or cheap resorts, it didn't matter. My parents went on a cruise last year and invited us to come along on their next cruise. So we did. A trip to the Canary Islands with the Norwegian Jade. After a quick hop to Barcelona, we ...
