This was our first cruise and we were not disappointed. Embarcation was very efficient although a bit slow having so many people to check in but once on board, our holiday truly began. We made our way to O’Sheehans which we were told wouldn’t be as busy as the buffet restaurants and had a lovely lunch. Our suitcases were taken from us when we got off the bus and they reached our cabin before 2pm. We were on deck 10 room 10074 mid ship with a balcony (our own bit of private heaven). The stateroom was lovely and more spacious than I thought it would be, very well appointed and very quiet. Our steward Sagar introduced himself and he was a lovely person, nothing was too much trouble and of course we had a different towel animal each night. All staff were very friendly and helpful. Entertainment was good at times and not to our taste at other times. For example, the violinist in the main theatre was a little bit boring and we left half way through but there was always something going on in diffierent venues throughout the ship. The Elements show is not to be missed and was spectacular, this takes place on the second last night on board. We didn’t go to the white party so can’t comment on that. Eating, we didn’t get to experience any of the A la carte restaurants as they were fully booked but we went to all the complimentary restaurants and had absolutely no complaints about the food or the service. The ship is spotless and is endlessly being cleaned, especially the eating places. We had about 3.5 days at sea and we found a sun lounger and relaxed on those days but they were quite tightly packed together. Disembarking day went pretty smoothly. We had a Miami City Tour and shopping at aventura mall excursion booked to keep us occupied before our 5pm flight home, I would probably just do the city tour only if was doing it again as all we did at the mall was have lunch which we could have got at the airport and for the extra cost it wasn’t worth it. Overall, we had a brilliant first cruise and since coming home, I’m looking for our next one. Read Less

This was our second time sailing on the Jade. It was an okay experience for us, but unfortunately, our experience with the photography studio and one employee, was so unpleasant that we won’t return. Its quite “scammy”. They say no sitting fee, but the photos will set you back $400 for ONE picture and as high as up to $3000. We were somewhat harassed prior to even boarding the ship by a photographer about booking a session and he proceeded to call us 3 times within an hour once we boarded the ship. We even joked about it feeling like a telemarketer. We finally booked a session with a different photographer, but when we went to purchase the photos ended up speaking with the original photographer we had met and he was VERY rude I think because we had booked with someone else? We went down to purchase our photos ($1899, which is ridiculous anyway) and ended up not purchasing any photographs because he was so rude to us and we just couldn’t believe we were about to spend that much money and he was speaking to us so poorly. Total disappointment and its a horrible memory from our cruise. After 11 years of cruising with NCL this is the first time we have ever gotten off a cruise with absolutely no photos at all. Save yourself some $, time and the risk of being treated poorly and just use the photographers around the ship and steer clear from the photography studio. Le Bistro was the best restaurant, with the best service. The painting classes are fun, but make sure you register early if you want to participate as they get filled up very quickly! Make all of your dining reservations prior to boarding or you will have a hard time making reservations once you're on board. There was a Neil Diamond tribute that was very good and a piano player who was also very talented. The children’s club was good and my children enjoyed going, but the program really never changes much so if you’re a frequent cruiser it gets boring. Unfortunately, be careful if you are a latitudes member. NCL does not do a good job at giving you things that you should be receiving. We had to ask for everything. We are Platinum Plus so we get little things like water bottles etc. we had to ask for them. We should have gotten chocolate covered strawberries which we never received. The photo discount does not apply to the photo studio (keep that in mind) it doesn’t state that ANyWHERE. Read Less

It was the most average of cruises... in the past NCL has wowed me but not this time. Usually, the food is my favorite part but again, I think they have begun finding new ways to cut corners and make more money and sadly for the first time I felt it was in the food department :/ The shows were the least amazing that I've seen from them EXCEPT the comedian... he had me rolling and especially at his uncensored show :) Will give NCL another shot (cause I have the discounted deposits) on another itinerary and hope this was a fluke... Pro's Sail Away from Miami The Itinerary of islands Room was pleasant FOUR plus beaches within walking distance from ship which worked out great with my instant pop up canopy / tent for shade = no umbrella rental required ;) Cons Lack Luster shows as compared to their newer ships Food quality was down a bit Food Service was spotty at times Read Less

This was a "re-do" Cruise from credit we received from a cruise we originally had booked during Thanksgiving 2018. During that cruise, our ship broke down in Puerto Rico and we stayed on the ship for two days. NCL somehow got us home safely during the busiest travel time of the year. On this cruise, it was the same itinerary and we looked forward to completing it. Overall, we had so much fun and really enjoyed the Cruise staff, the ship and shore excursions! Both embarkation and disembarkation went smooth and both were quick. We had no issues. This was the first time we booked an obstructed ocean-view cabin (#8558). We were pleasantly surprised. We could still see the ocean and the ports. The only issue was that we were directly over the Bliss Lounge and could hear Karaoke night throughout the cruise. It was kind of humorous. The dining and entertainment on the ship was outstanding and we did not have any bad experiences. Read Less

I have never cruised Norwegian and they came highly recommended. There were MANY teens and kids on board making it impossible to get Deck Chairs or even a place to sit on pool Deck. While having an international crew was wonderful, they had extremely poor command of the English language making communication very difficult at times. Our cabin steward was awesome, very attentive and thorough and made the cruise wonderful kudos to Marvin for being a special part of our cruise. The issues I had were very minor but somewhat annoying when you pay that kind of money. I did my homework and planned my own excursions which were not disappointing at all. The food on the ship was second to none and I never had an issue at a bar, I was always served immediately and the drinks were not weak at all. Our cruise director Jacky was phenomenal and energetic although many of the staff often made negative remarks in regard to their salaries, Norwegian and even some of the guests. The entertainment was top notch for the most part although often times the better entertainers were scheduled in venues that were too small, leaving no seats while others played larger venues with many empty seats.Overall great time but I would not be opposed to trying other Cruise Lines Read Less

We chose NCL because we had traveled on the Spirit a couple years ago and wanted to take our teenagers on a special trip over Spring Break. We had a total of six people - one mini-suite and one inside cabin. We opted to not do the specialty dining this cruise (as we didn't think the kids would fully appreciate it) and have our special offers consist of shore excursion credits. POSITIVE: Amazing entertainment/shows each evening. We were all so impressed! NEGATIVE: The smoking policy needs to change on NCL. The ENTIRE, and I mean ENTIRE, sixth floor was overwhelmed with cigarette odor because it is allowed in the casino and the doors were always open. Sometimes this spread through decks seven and five, as well. It was quite bad and an area through which we needed to walk to attend the shows. POSITIVE: Entourage Teens Club - lots of activities and the kids LOVED it. NEGATIVE: Groups of teenagers congregating on the stairs and other common areas when it was closed. Perhaps they can hang out in there during the day? POSITIVE: Steward attentiveness - he knew our names from the very first day! NEGATIVE: We'd never had a mini-suite. Other than the full bathtub, I'm not sure it should qualify for more than a balcony room. Also, we had reserved a mid-ship room and were clearly in the aft portion of the ship. Fortunately, none of my new cruisers got seasick. POSITIVE: The buffet had selections that changed daily and there was more variety than I remember on the last ship. NEGATIVE: The buffet was closed for up to 1 1/2 hours at a time and with our odd shore excursion arrival/departure times, we often arrived and weren't able to eat! While they told us to go to the Topsider's Grill, it also was closed at times. Yikes! NEGATIVE: The ice cream machine was broken off and on throughout the entire cruise! Major bummer for teenagers. POSITIVE: Most shore excursions. Really great experiences (mostly). NEGATIVE: Shore excursion in St. Lucia was TERRIBLE. In fairness, the shore excursion staff had warned us of problems but we booked it anyway. Unknown to us, they sent one of their staff incognito to check it out and tour with us. I didn't know this until I went to report our complaints with the tour. Also, note that they credited our accounts with 20% of our payment for our problems AND it appears they've removed that shore excursion from their list of availability! Read Less

We sailed on the Jade, which was our 3rd sailing on this ship. The first time, it had just come to TX from Asia. The service was less than desirable, and the ship needed refurbishing. The 2nd time we sailed on her was this past November, the unlucky sailing when it broke down and we were stuck in San Juan until we got flown back to Miami on a charter plane. They say the 3rd time is a charm, and it actually was for us as we had a great experience this time. The ship is very nice inside, with warm neutral colors replacing the very bold, bright colors of several years ago. The ship was always very clean, regardless of what part of the ship we were in. The service and friendliness of the crew was for the most part outstanding. We had wonderful service in the Alizar from Solange, and our room steward Vanessa was great. The food was good, however, the main dining room nightly menu seemed to not be as good as on other sailings we taken with NCL. Cagney's was good, as it always is. We also dined at Moderno, and the service was not as good as what we've experienced in the past. They were busy, however, we were short silverware and tongs, it took 10 minutes to get the sides brought to the table even though we'd already had 3 different meat selections offered. The bar service could be stepped up a bit, especially in the casino. Many times there were no servers to be found in the casino - even when they weren't busy. Many in the casino complained about the lack of service while playing at a machine. Some of them would just wander by - without asking or saying anything at all. The line at the Pit Stop at times was very long, and sometimes the servers working in that area were not friendly at all. With that being said, we did have very good service in both of those areas by 2 particular servers when they were working. Overall, it was a very nice trip. The entertainment was great, as it always is on NCL. Still love NCL, but really wish that they would step up in a few areas. The islands were beautiful, weather was great, and we met some really nice people! Read Less

First cruise as Platinum Lattitude member. It was wonderful. Great itinerary on a great ship with great staff. They all were very friendly and helpful! Welcomed us back like one of the family. Met and several spoke with Hotel Director, Vitor and F&B Director, Ross. They both answered questions and shared their experiences. We wrote a thank you note to Ross telling him how great the food was on board both in the buffet and specialty restaurants. He stopped by the next night while we were dining to thank us in person! Vitor spent about 15 minutes telling us about Alaska and sharing his photos. Food was absolutely delicious everywhere on the Jade. The entertainment was awesome and we thoroughly enjoyed. Our interior room was fine. We like the fact that the sun does not wake us in the morning. We truly enjoyed Cagney’s three times, LaCucino twice and LeBistro twice. In La Cucino, our server, Shekhar and Maitre ‘D, Charles McLean were fantastic! The best dessert was in LeBistro where Dusan and Cliffton were excellent! Ruth Gomez was our stewardess and took very good care of us ! Each time that we sail on NCL it is like coming back to our family and each time we leave, we say that our next vacation will not be as good! But each time we end our cruise, it seems to have propelled our expectations to the top, once again! We love the Cruise Next program and educate fellow cruiser on how great the program is. We love NCL and make sure all our friends are aware of the awesome time we have whenever we sail with NCL!! Read Less

Not too much to do, shop or to see. Because of that, I went to the Jacuzzi and sauna almost every day! Food was just ok, when you travel in the big ships you have too many options, here are so restricted, for example no real ice cream station, just the machine, just the vanilla and/or chocolate. Cagneys always its a must, the food was awesome, as always, and the service too. Le Bistro, always good, food was wonderful. La Cucina, below average: slowly, they didn't offered cheese!!! Cabin, Mini Suite, was sooo spacious and with tons of space (we were 4!). I loved the illuminated mirror! My son really enjoyed the bathtub. As I read in the boards, this time I requested an iron, and it was so helpful! The illusionist and his assistant show was super, my kids were in shock with the final number. We really enjoyed all the ports, we will loved if we can stayed more in Puerto Rico, we arrive late. And it would be nice to stop by in our way back to Miami a couple of hours in Great Stirrup Cay. We chose this ship based on the destination and port of departure. Embarkation and disembarkation were smooth and uneventful. The layout of the ship was a little disjointed. There was almost always seating at the bars and the shows. The specialty dining was impossible to get into if you didn't already have a reservation. The shows were all very good. Not great, but very good. The shore excursion we talked about was not worth the money for sure. Mostly sitting and little real exposure to the island. (Volcano tour St. Lucia) The Bar Staff, was great at The Mixers/Magnums, only marginal at the great outdoors. The Cabin was small but comfortable, more than enough room for how little time we spent in the room. The balcony fit us well. We would take this ship again if the itinerary fit our needs. The food in the restaurants was very good, but the deserts were iffy at best. Read Less

I had a cruise credit with NCL that was expiring. I selected this cruise for itinerary. The price was fair for two but I feel it unfair to double the rate for one person. I do not eat or require twice the food or service. The ports were good, service was very good. Shows were good since I rarely attend them, I managed to go to 4 out of the 10 and was surprised. The crew dance group were very good.. The food was good and open dining was quite easy with good selection of restaurants to choose from. The staff was very nice and always helpful. 80 countries represented. I have to comment on the room service charge ($7.95). This was a first for me, as in the past breakfast delivery has ALWAYS been free. I would recommend bringing a wrap as most of the time the public rooms were chilly. Overall it was a good cruise. We chose this cruise length and destinations to avoid Spring Break crowds and see new destinations. We were two couples mid 70's and mid 60's. We chose Norwegian because of their easier dinner dress rules and we chose the Jade because of its medium size. One of us was having trouble walking without a cane before the cruise, so we rented a wheel chair just in case. We used NCL wheel chair assistance in boarding and disembarkation...both went very well and were very helpful. We got to the port at about 11:30 and it was not very crowded and the process for others seemed to go well. With wheelchair assistance, we breezed right through to the pre-boarding waiting area. We did not pre-book any excursions and stayed on the ship in San Juan and Barbados. We took the wheel chair on two locally-arranged mini van excursions without a problem. We had not seen this class of ship since the refurbishment and I really liked the toned-down color scheme (but I did hear a couple of passengers say that they missed the 'jewel" color scheme. The ship was in good shape but with a little wear showing in some places. The cleanliness was very good. We had cruised on 4 prior NCL cruises, so we had a good idea what to expect, and what NCL deleivers is just fine for us. We were able to get the same waiter in the main dinning room each night and this allowed us to build a good and warm relationship...I'm sure that this helped our attitude and enjoyment of the Grand Pacific dinning room. We had the "soda package" and service was better than we have had in the past. However, there were a few bar tenders that seem unhappy to serve just the soda (no commission, I guess). Otherwise, service in all venues was very good. We did not go to every main show, but the ones that we saw were OK to Good. Too much dancing for me...especially in the "Elements" show which was basically an illusionist with 4 illusions with 5 minutes of interpretive dancing between each. The western-themed show was listed as "PG", but we had a hard time figuring out "why". I guess is was the lyrics (all very popular songs) and maybe a dance move or two. I did check the sound level in the main theater several times and it seldom exceeded 80db which was significantly lower level than on some other NCL cruises that we have taken and that was a good thing. The lounge entertainment was basic except for "Manila Soul" cover band which was very good. We happened to listen in on a trivia game and noted that the MC/Announcer had a strong accent that made it very hard to understand the questions. Read Less

Before our cruise, I read a lot of reviews on the Norwegian Jade. I have only been on a couple cruises, so I am not as seasoned as many are. But from all the reviews that complain of cold food, or bad food, or lack of service, I was expecting a horrible experience. But I found that for the price I paid for the cruise it was a pretty solid experience. The food was fine, sort of like Golden Corral (for the Americans reading this). Not awesome, but not horrible. There were often repeat dishes in the restaurants, but there were so many it was easy to not repeat our meals. I enjoyed our ocean view room as well. I was not impressed with the entertainment in the Stardust theater. For a family cruise I thought much of the dancing was unnecessarily loaded with sexual overtones (why did the one dancer need to take her top off at the end of one of those numbers?) The people who performed were very talented, but I didn't find that the hype of the shows lived up to the reality. The guitarist, Dave McHugh, who played at various places on the ship, was easily the most popular consistent entertainer. You had to show up early for his events if you wanted a seat. Yes, the pool area was always packed on days at sea. If you didn't have a chair by 9 AM, you'd likely have to get lucky and find one when someone gave it up. It's kind of a bummer, but it's what I expected. All in all, I'd do it again for the price I paid (maybe just for the privilege of getting a mojito from Jimmy at the Sugarcane bar!). I loved how Norwegian was very conscious of germs, and always were waiting to spray our hands any time we entered the ship or a dining area. I'm not much of a night owl (and wasn't enjoying the Stardust entertainment), so I enjoyed the in-room movies on several evenings. I wished I'd brought some of my own on my laptop, as there weren't many movies, and they just rotated. I think we saw parts of one movie four different times, while some of the movies I would have liked to see were running in the daytime and never shown in the evenings. Read Less

I chose this cruise because it was 10 day and covered 6 ports. I was originally on the Jade for the November 16th fiasco. This was my first cruise ever and the experience was just as the title suggest. 'Nightmare' I can start off my saying there is simply no thought process or communication. First port of San Juan we get back begin the to prepare for our shower when the captain comes over with a message that basically said " Cruise is over and have a great life" this caused complete chaos. The guest relations desk only had 1 person on staff at that time of night. That is where I first noticed the incompetence of this cruise line. You should know people are going to have questions so as you can imagine the line for that one person was about 200 deep. We were told originally there are 1 staff for every 2 guest. I know a lot of these are wait-staff, housekeeping etc. but there are enough staff on that ship that interact with people to have come up with a better game plan. They should have thought about this and typed up some documents with anticipated questions and answers and staffed at least a dozen or so staff at the guest relations station and surrounding area to assist the quest. Also there was never a clear communication of what was going to happen. The captain said everyone would have to be off by Tuesday but staff was informing that if you were not flown off prior to that day then they would not simply 'kick you off the ship' which is exactly what happened! You could as 3 staff members the same question btw and get 3 completely different answers. It was also communicated that your room number could be called and when it was you have to be packed and ready to go in 20 minutes so we could not even enjoy anything on the ship while we waited for our room number to be called or Tuesday to come. So when Tuesday did come we were part of a group that were treated like refugees and shipped to a convention center in San Juan. Also note that people on a cruise usually aren't packed to fly so a lot of people had 4 or 5 suitcases for a 10 day cruise. Norwegian and its 1 staff per 2 guest never offered to assist passengers off the ship down this dilapidated staircase in San Juan. We met an 80 yo man on his first cruise also "Children had paid to send him on it" No one helped the elderly or handicapped with their bags! No one! I had 5 bags or I would have tried. I have pictures of this BTW! To wrap this one up I was never reimbursed as promised I'd be! I live in Florida so I did not have a lot of expense once were flown back to Miami. We were sent a $99 check to cover, rental car 82.80, taxi service 12, gas for the rental 25.00, hotel deposit that night in Miami 50.00 and breakfast at Denny's. 16.96.I still have the receipts. Norwegian also closed my case. I also spoke to their guest relations Patricia Tamarit in February regarding Case # 02246443 and was told this was being looked into and was taken very serious! Still haven't heard anything from her. Again the great Norwegian customer service that we received on their ship! So we did the make up cruise March 1st. I went on with a bad taste in my mouth because I know I am sailing without a company that doesn't care. Bothered to offer me nothing btw, I'll be 100% honest I am used to doing business with local companies that offer you something with they know they dropped the ball. BTW Norwegian could have offered us an onboard credit, Free dinner at one of the upgrade restaurants, free excursion or something but they truly could careless about how you feel about them. March 1st my room looked like crap when we arrived. My mattress looked like a camel. The safe was not functioning and the numbers unreadable. They did replace the mattress and safe as I refused to leave the guest relations but of course as luck would have it my new suitcase was completely ruined. When it arrived to the room looked as if it had been sliced with a razor. I brought it down to the guest relations and was told to allow their "carpenter" to look at it. he would have it back in one day. 3 days later when it was returned to me it looked as if a 10 yo had attempted to spot glue 3 sections. I told the girl at the guest relations that I was unsatisfied with this. She got nasty and said " You can't expect us to make it brand new again!" I had the same thing happen it the Atlanta airport and was sent to customer relations where I filled out paperwork and was mailed a check. Norwegian did nothing for me. My loss once again for choosing Norwegian. I only rate them one star because I have to pick something. Their wait-staff or horrible. They bring you your food and you never see them again. When you go to the bar to get a refill of pepsi because the waiter is no where to be found, wait-staff like " Adinos" get nasty and tell you basically to go sit down. These rude people should not be allowed to work with public! I talked to the manager and he said " It'll go on his report card" not sure how many chances these people get to speak down to the public. I could go on about their ship but it would sound like bashing at this point. We met 3 out of 1000? decent staff on Norwegian Jade. Bottom line is stay away from Norwegian and if you don't and have a horrible experience then its on you. I have been asking for SOMEONE, ANYONE with Norwegian customer relations to call me. I have given 10 different people my number and they flat REFUSE! They DO NOT CARE! BTW Attempted to add photos is not allowing me to upload on this site.hmmmm Read Less

First cruise with Norwegian and first Caribbean cruise, leaving from Miami and visiting Puerto Rico, St. Thomas, St Kitts, Barbados, St. Lucia and St. Martin, hopefully the first of many. Embarkation process was good, there's often a little queuing to be done but chill, you're on holiday, so tell your face! We had an inside cabin which was more than adequate and the bathroom was bigger than some I've had on other ships. Our steward was great and the clever towel animals he left always made us smile! The food was amazing and more than enough choice in the included restaurants, so we didn't try any speciality dining. Our favourite was the Grand Pacific for ambience but the choice in the buffet was fabulous and great quality also. As we had a few early starts with excursions we ordered room service on a few mornings (included) which was a very welcome addition. They did make a few mistakes but these were rectified with a phone call. We bought the beverage package but it does NOT include the Starbucks coffee, so be aware. We found staff at all the bars to be friendly and helpful, especially Marcia in Bliss. Cocktails under $15 are included and as most of them were we enjoyed trying a few different ones! Entertainment was good, nothing spectacular, but good, apart from the "Las Vegas" singer singing Whitney Houston songs who I think would have been more suited to Tina Turner than Whitney! The aerial due were fantastic and I think I've seen them on another ship. We entered a few quizzes which were fun, but didn't play in the casino or bingo, which I thought was quite expensive at $39 for the smallest package! I did treat myself to some spa time, although I did think their prices very high, even for a cruise ship. I think the norm is about £1 (75c) per minute but their prices are more than double that. I did think their spa package was good value though, $219 for the week (about £24 per day) for the use of all the facilities - sauna, steam room, jacuzzi, therapy pool, relaxation beds, etc. We had booked an excursion at each port, again a bit pricey but not having been before thought it best. If visiting again however I would definitely make transport enquiries and explore myself. Enjoyed all the excursions bar St. Lucia Historical Island Tour which was very rushed and a waste of time really; the best by far was the Legendary Kon Tiki Beach and Sightseeing in St. Thomas, which was fabulous fun and not to be missed! My travelling companion was a cruise virgin and has already asked if I'd like to join her on another one next year - yay! another convert! She loved it and, like me, found nothing of note to complain about, so those that do are either extremely unfortunate, VERY hard to please or just miserable and looking for something to complain about! Norwegian Jade and this route definitely recommended! Read Less

This was a great 10 day cruise. I'd only ever been on the Star but the Jade was very nice. I arrived in Florida a couple days before the ship left. I took Lyft to the port from my hotel in Fort Lauderdale and that went very smoothly. I arrived at the Port of Miami around 11:45am and there was absolutely no line to get checked in. I think I boarded around 12:30 or so. I went straight to the dining room for lunch. Delicious and quiet! Room was ready around 1:30 or so and my bags appeared around 3pm so all in all, embarkation was excellent! I had an interior cabin on deck 9 mid-ship all to myself and I requested that the beds be split apart which was done very quickly. This gave me a lot more space to move around. The room was fine; very clean. I could hear running water but I sleep with a small noise machine so it didn't bother me. The room steward, Xavier, was fantastic. Always greeted me by name, room was done very quickly. I only ate at the MDR for dinner (except one night, I ate at the Jasmine Garden). Food was fantastic! No complaints. Buffet was usually for breakfast and lunch if I was on ship. No complaints there either. I took most excursions with the ship since I had the Shore Ex credit. All were great. No complaints. All the ports were very nice. Getting on and off the ship very easy. The only thing the Jade lacked was an adults only section like the Star had with Spice H2O (which also had two hot tubs!) I wish there had been a place like that on the Jade. All in all, I really liked the Jade. And NCL is still a great cruise line. I had a wonderful time. Read Less

I was surprised at how long it took for the cabins to be ready. After 2 pm. Everyone of the crew members were very friendly and wonderful. The food in tIhe Garden cafe was real good the 1st couple of days, then it kind of went down some after that. Choices became less and the lunch was better then the dinner menu. It wasn't bad just boring and not as many choices. We looked at the dining room menu everyday, hoping for an exciting menu, but it didn't happen. We did try it one time and was disappointed. Most of the entertainment was good. No reservations necessary. A lot of the activities, such as the game shows were too late for some of us so we missed a lot of those. Read Less

The staff on the Jade were awesome. I feel that NCL provides excellent customer service anyway but this crew was top notch. The Cruise Director and CD staff were phenomenal. They were all high energy, funny, seemed to work well together and enjoy their jobs. The wait staff were all very attentive. We ate more meals in Alizar and O’Sheehan this cruise. The food choices in the buffet seemed limited. It seemed like the daily food items were the same each day. It would be nice to have the theme of the night put on the app to help passengers with meal planning. There is diversity in the options within the buffet (Asian, Indian, and American), however, I wonder why there is not a Mexican food option. I figure it would take a small amount of room to offer tacos, nachos, burritos, and fixings. I think it would go over well with the younger crowd that can be found on NCL. This was our first time at the Miami port for embarkation and disembarkation. I felt it was very organized and we got through both quickly. It seemed as if the rooms were ready and our bags to us in record time! The entertainment on this cruise was good. The comedian was hilarious! The shows were very enjoyable. There was a gentleman that performed with a guitar who was exceptional. We also enjoyed the C-Notes. Manilla Soul left a little bit to be desired. They played well but the singing was off. One of the singers continued to sing songs out of his range (using his head voice) and it was bad enough that I had to leave the area. Unfortunately, there were others I overheard complaining on the ship. There was a group that hung out for karaoke. It was disappointing that the song selection was very outdated. I also found it odd that with the great technology the ships have now that the Jade would have a very old karaoke system that was a stand-alone that could only display on one television. There was a big screen tv facing the audience and it would have been great to see the words displayed. We had three excursions this cruise and two of them were disappointing. We tried Sun, Rum and Salsa. We got put in another group because there was some walking and my husband has MS. The tour guide we were assigned to took the group up and down hills and walked continuously showing the guests where to go after the tour and where was not very safe. I am not upset that this tour guide chose to do that because it was helpful for the others. However, I had specifically asked if my husband’s disability was going to be an issue and was told the longest the walk would be was three blocks. Finally, the assistant tour guide took my husband and me to the bar the groups were meeting at. Unfortunately, the damage had already been done making it difficult for my husband to do much walking the rest of the cruise. My daughter and her boyfriend were over-heated and said the walk was difficult for them. The other excursion that was disappointing was one a beach break in St Kitts. We had been to St. Kitts the previous year and stopped a beach that was awesome. There were water toys available for rent, the beach was well kept and the bar/restaurant was very nice. We had thought we were going back to that location when we booked it. Unfortunately, the beach we were taken too had a run-down bar with an outdoor restaurant. However, it did not look like a place a health department would allow to serve food if here in the states. There were people constantly trying to get us to buy things and the little bit of water toys available were overpriced. My husband and I were unable to participate in our excursion in St. Lucia. However, our daughter still attended. The excursion was supposed to be going to a beautiful waterfall and swimming in and around it. My daughter brought back a picture of the waterfall that looked like something slightly more than overflow rain from a down spout. I suggest that NCL re-evaluate the excursions they are offering. My critique from last year’s cruise listed several ideas of how to improve the NCL app while on the ship. This year, I found the app to be a huge improvement, thank you! A few more ideas that would be useful is if you could favorite some of the activities and set a reminder so that you are not late or accidently miss it. I think it would be nice to have the theme of the buffet and special entrees from the complimentary restaurants listed daily with verbiage that it is subject to change. If NCL had the schedule of the day/night’s activities available on the app for more than 24 hours in the future, it would encourage passengers to use the app and cut down on paper and printing costs for the daily activities newsletter that is delivered to each cabin. It would also be one less thing the cabin stewards had to concern themselves with. Another item that would be great is to have the excursions for each port listed with a description and cost per person. Maybe eventually allow booking for the excursion from the app. I would also like to have the option to share account information with optional numbers. My husband booked our trip however, we use my phone when on ship. I could not see our on ship account because it was under my husband’s name and number. It is still difficult to know what time it is on the ship. It would be awesome to have the time displayed on the electronic screen in the elevators. It would also be awesome if during the day the view from the front of the ship was also displayed instead of a picture of the Jade (in the elevator). I did come down with pneumonia while on the cruise that peaked around day four out of ten. My husband and I did not go on excursion for our last three ports due to my health. The staff was very accommodating. I did have to eventually go to medical when I ran out of the meds I had brought. The medical staff was very thorough and got me on some new meds immediately. This was my first experience staying on the ship while others went to the port. It was awesome!!! I have told friends and family here at home to not feel sorry for me because I became ill on the cruise. I was at one of the best places I could have been. I got to lay out in 80 degree weather, I had someone cooking and cleaning for me, along with having food delivered to my room if I was too tired to go out. After the first night, the staff in O’Sheehan’s knew I was coming in for my nighttime hot toddy. Our cabin steward check in on me. I had it better than at home! (Although, I would not recommend becoming ill on your next cruise.) Not only do I appreciate the professionalism that NCL staff promotes and their ability to make you feel like “one of the family.” I also appreciate the perks that NCL offers and the opportunities granted to latitude members. We should be getting close to the platinum level. I always think when it comes time to fill out this survey that it would be awesome to have a job to cruise and give suggestions of improvements, give recognition on the things that are exceptional, and help improve on the areas that need it. Do secret cruiser jobs exist?! Read Less

We booked this cruise as we wanted to do another Caribbean, winter escape, cruise. We really enjoyed our cruise a couple of years ago on the Pearl and wanted to sail her sister ship, Jade. Hadn't been to the southern, eastern Carib islands before so the itinerary was perfect. And it did not disappoint. Nor did the Jade. Embark went well, very efficient, no issues. Our cabin was on deck 8 ocean view pic window, 8624. Space and layout of these cabins are spacious and roomy. Bed very comfy, very nice pillows. Bathroom is very adequate, good space in shower with awesome water pressure. All in all the cabin has plenty of room for two, closet and drawer storage. Our cabin steward was stellar, thus so waupers the cleanliness and all things stateroom. Dining and food was very good. Dined in Cagneys twice, experience and food was good, however, not quite as good as two years ago on the Pearl. Other specialty venues that we dined were good, but not great. Honestly, the Grand Pacific was the best dining for food and service we experienced. It was super, great food, impressive menu, impeccable service. The entertainment in the pool areas on deck 12 & 13 in the afternoons was very fun, music always upbeat. Evening entertainment in the bars area at Magnums as well as the Atrium was beyond great. We didn't go to the shows in the Stardust theater because the music and entertainment in those other venus was so good. The guitar player that did the Neil Diamond tribute was outstanding. He was in the Atrium area, and it was packed, standing room only. Service ship wide was stellar. Crew, customer service, wait staff, all of them. Enjoyed all of the ports of call. Our time at San Juan was short, enjoyed a short tour of old San Juan and San Christobal. St. Thomas, we did the newly re-established Tree Limin' Extreme Zip Line excursion. Great Fun! A must do if you like this sort of thing. Guides were super fun, very good about teaching safety and good technique so you could have a good experience. We traveled with a group of 10 friends. We are all in our 60s and had a ton of fun with this. St. Kitts is stunning. We did the Scenic rail tour. Very enjoyable, good culture and history of the island with this fun old train tour, not to mention some really good rum drinks served along the way. Barbados - we did the 4x4 and Harrison cave tour. I can not recommend this enough. The 4x4 specialty vehicle is a hoot as is the guide that drives it. Stops along the way are beautiful. Then you go to the Harrison Cave. Amazing. Ancient history. Truly a great experience. St. Lucia - didn't do a shore excursion here. St. Maarten - as with all of the other islands, St. Maarten is so beautiful. We did the Ultimate Explorer and Island tour. Part of the tour was on a nice air conditioned coach bus, the water part was on a catamaran boat called Explorer. Boat guys were a lot of fun, great tour of both sides of this island. More of those yummy rum drinks flowed freely. This island has made a lot of headway with repairs and recovery since the 2017 hurricanes, however, there is still a great deal of damage and destruction that is very visible, humbling. Truly a great cruise. Disembark was good. I think disembark is always a bit hectic. We did the Everglades airboat to MIA international airport tour after disembark in Miami. Good experience and tour. Guides give a great airboat ride! Learned a lot about the everglades we did not know. Look forward to the next NCL cruise. Read Less

We chose this cruise because there was only one island that we had already visited and we love the longer cruises. We also love the Eastern and Southern Caribbean. The ship was lovely, clean and comfortable. No matter what part of the ship we were at, we felt welcomed and at home. The Jade is a smaller ship and very easy to find our way around. This trip we booked a balcony room, as usual it was clean and welcoming. Our cabin steward was amazing, friendly and alway present and ready to meet our every need. He cleaned and checked our room twice a day, we never lacked for anything. There is nothing better than sitting on the balcony watching the lights of the approaching port get closer as the sun rises. Seeing Miami fade into the distance is alway exciting! The specialty restaurants were great!! This trip we visited Cagney's (twice), Le Bistro and La Cucina. Every item ordered came exactly as requested, even the steaks were done correctly!! Not to mention the desserts, oh my! We did several NCL excursions and were not disappointed. Great boat rides, private beach and island history. Oh yes...and a volcano!! So many choices and so little time!! My best take away was the fresh banana from a roadside stand on St. Lucia. The van excursion driver bought them for us. I am sure I will never taste a banana that good again!! The saddest part was leaving, can't wait until we can cruise again. We love NCL. Read Less

It was me and my husband's 13 year Anniversary. This was our 13th cruise and our first on Norwegian. All around, it was our best experience to date. Not just a southern Caribbean experience but our Norwegian experience was awesome. We loved the smaller ship experience and the food and service couldn't be beat. We dined in all the speciality dining restaurants as well as the main dining rooms. We could not have been more pleased with the food choices and wine choices. We were treated like royalty for our Anniversary. We were even given a professional photography shoot which was amazing. The photos came out great. The experience of the staff is commendable. You can really tell all of them enjoyed their jobs. Our 11 year old daughter came and spent the entire time in Splash by choice. The Splash staff was wonderful. Thanks Norwegian for a wonderful time. Can't wait to book our next one. Read Less

Drinks at least $15 and soda was $4.11(15) for a plastic cup. Shows and Night Life were GREAT. Bring something WHITE to wear for the White Dance. Activities were good. Latest Movies that were shown on television were SUPER! They were Oscar movies too. If you have to leave your cabin for any reason, the movie would repeat at another time or day depending. A big negative was the heavy smoke in the Casino. It was so heavy that you could cut it with a knife. As we visited more port of calls, the smoke did get better but it was still smokey. I LOVE the FreeStyle! You can dress up or stay as you are on your vacation.Everything is about you and taking your time to just enjoy everything. Regardless if you dress up or down for breakfast, lunch or dinner.Your choice of Truly Relaxing and not thinking about what you r going to wear for the day is excellent! **Second 10 day Southern Caribbean cruise on the Jade in 2 years.( 4 total NCL cruises in past 5 years.) Really enjoyed last years’cruise on the Jade and decided to go on the Jade again to visit the islands we were diverted from last year because of the hurricanes. Big mistake ! **Food was mediocre at best. Even the upcharge restaurants could not seem to serve food that was hot...food was luke warm at best and bland. The buffet was almost inedible...starch, starch, and more pale white starch. Coffee is the worst ever.Ugh. Most of the meat was tough and flavorless. I noticed food handlers, at the buffet being reprimanded by their supervisors on numerous occasions for different infractions. I work in food service, so I’m highly aware of food serving standards . Not a comforting thing to see while trying to stay healthy on a trip. **Drink package was changed, unbeknownst to me, up charges on premium brands. Ugh. This is on top of paying for taxes and a 20%gratuity on the “ free “ package.Super long waits at the outdoor bars. **Free WiFi was a joke as the free 250 minutes were used when the logout did not work. On board app needs much work, very frustrating. **Mini suite and cabin steward were both great. **After only ever sailing on NCL, this cruise has me questioning my loyalty ...don’t get me started on the latitude tier program...a joke. Will be venturing out to sea on another cruise line next time. Read Less

Chose this cruise for the ports of call and the voyage delivered that, otherwise probably my least favorite cruise. The cabin was quite satisfactory and our steward Rendra was superb. We opted for a window cabin , not a balcony but bigger than a porthole. We were on deck 5 and I and recommend it as you have easy access to both of the sit down "complimentary " eateries (Alizar and Grand Pacific) and to the sally ports at each destination. The buffet (Garden Cafe) was always crowded and the menu changed very little day to day and it was just ok so we usually opted for the "complimentary " sit down cafes or Jasmine (Asian) or O Sheehans (pub food). Service at the cafes was good. The seafood dishes were not good and there were 2 that were inedible although the Fish and Chips at O Sheehans was good. Great Prime Rib one night at Alizar and consistently great at Jasmine (other than the shrimp) . Be aware though than the menus at all the "complimentary cafes did not change much and you will not see Lobster Night on the voyage in the "complimentary cafes. Another blow was the $8.95 service charge levied for all room service even just a pot of coffee in the morning. All in all food was satisfactory but the least desirable of any cruise I have taken, I found even Carnival to be better. Wifi was expensive and slow. We did not take any of the NCL excursions but did hear some complaints from other passengers about both the quality and the required shopping stops. If you are wondering about the quotes around the term complimentary its because i found the use of the word amusing seeing as how we paid for the voyage and these meals were included in the price. On the plus side the embarkation and debarkation process were the best I have done. The ship and service is good the food very average except for the Jasmine and O Sheehans which had some really good dishes,Fish and Chips and the hamburger at O Sheehans and the pot stickers, the hot and sour soup and the orange beef at Jasmine. ( The hot and sour soup was the best I have ever had) Read Less

I cruised Carnival and Royal Caribbean cruise lines and wanted to try another cruise line. I went with Norwegian Cruise Lines instead of Princess because it was going to 2 other islands that Princess was not, OK so lets talk about what went wrong! We noticed that in the beginning of our cruise, we were smelling sewage in the cabin hallway by our room. The cruise line, receptionist sent someone to spray a refreshsioner on the carpets, which only last for a few hours. We complained a half dozer times along with other passions. We smelled that for 10 days. Another problem was that the food was never hot, only warm. I sure it must be difficult to prepare for a thousand people but other cruise line can do it. The type or one can say menu in the buffet never changed. 10 days of the same thing. This reminds me of feeding our pets, the same thing each meal each day. I believe that Norwegian Cruise Lines must not of vetted the shore excursion vendors. Half of them did not care about their passions and did not give a history of the island on the sight seeing exclusions but instead played their music turned way up and just drove us from point A to point B. One of them even dropped us off at a shopping area and said they will be back in 2 hours, which we do not know what he did or where he went, but he did come back 2 hours later and drove us to another point of interest without and information of the island. After that, took us back to the ship. What a waste of money and time. The only positive rating I could give Norwegian Cruise Line is for their room stewards and the kitchen/galley help. Read Less
