AJ’s Sloth and Monkey sanctuary. We booked this on our own in advance. Shore excursions to these places were longer and more costly. We got transportation and the animal experience for $35 pp. Lots of fun and guide was great.

We Love the Jade

My husband and i have traveled many years on cruise ships and this vacation we took our two kids with us. Embarkation: We joined the ship in Barcelona and did not have to wait long before we were taken care of. The staff in the terminal were very friendly and professional and we got a great feeling from them even before we on on board. Cabin: We loved our cabin, very clean compared to ...

OK - step one - TOTALLY ignore all the bad reviews you've probably read. Some people just aren't right for cruises - and some people just have bad weeks, which they would have had they been at home anyway! I'm not suggesting everything's perfect, but....for example, NCL have a buffet option during the day; it's enormous, and if you can't find something good - from roasts to indian to chinese to ...

Jade Restored My Confidence in Cruising

This was my 38th cruise and lately the quality of the experience was going downhill fast. I hadn't been on NCL for 3 years and I got a great deal on a mini-suite ($110/pp/day) compared to a veranda on Oceania ($290/pp/day) which is a little smaller in January. Embarkation was a breeze. I was interested to see if the Jade was much different now after the refit. Everything seemed redone in the ...

Been back a few days from a 9 night cruise on the Jade , Barcelona - Canaries . Going to try and be balanced , As i personally don't enjoy reading reviews either stating everything was shockingly bad , or everything thing was perfect .... find them hard to trust . Spend 2 night prior to cruise at the Hotel Grums - only paid £65 per night , including a great breakfast , hotel is only 1 ...

Great Time, Better Than We Expected

This was our first time cruising with NCL so we were not too sure what to expect and whether we would like the 'Freestyle' concept. We are 'young' seniors, British & Italian and have been living in Spain for 23 years. There were also very mixed reviews regarding the ship, crew, food, cabins, etc. but fortunately we have always taken reviews by the average and therefore set off with our own ...

Nice surprise with NCL

I rarely write reviews, but I believe that this may prove useful to those considering NCL. We have cruised on most of the lines - 4,5 and 6 star. Many comments regarding NCL have been warnings not to cruise with them for various reasons. However, as we are in Spain for the winter and NCL is the only cruiseline cruising from Malaga, we thought we would give it a go. The price was VERY ...

Having read a number of mixed reviews, we went on this cruise with an open mind with every intention of enjoying ourselves and not sweating over the small stuff. Were we disappointed no -- the cruise was great. Everything about the whole holiday went very smoothly, check in was rapid -- less than 20 minutes from arriving at the docks to boarding, we were able to go straight our cabin, we boarded ...

Memorable 9d Canaric Cruise on NCL Jade

NCL Jade Canaric Cruise in General Memorable 9 day Canaric Cruise on the NCL Jade! For many years I have wanted to visit Madeira, the Canary Islands, and Granada (Alhambra), and this cruise did not disappoint! Hopefully I can repeat this itinerary, as there is just too much to see and do in 9 days. The biggest challenge in doing this is the airfare, as the cruise is very reasonably ...

We didn't want to see the Captain!

Winter 2012 in Spain loomed with the potential of being wet and cold (if the previous two winters were anything to go by) so in October, 2011 I booked on the internet a cruise to the Canary Islands to get away from any inclement weather. In the event I needn't have bothered, the weather on the Costa del Sol was better than the overcast, cool, dull days experienced in Madeira, Tenerife and ...

A wonderful time

Embarkation: Barcelona port is well laid out; less than 10 minutes and I was on board. Have your one page pre-cruise registration ready and you are good to go. After check-in, you will notice a few shops located post check-in where you can pick up some last minute necessities &/or souvenirs, to include the alcohol kind, prior to boarding. Cabins: Booked an inside cabin and got an upgrade. Nice ...
