Relaxing Getaway

Review for Norwegian Getaway to Caribbean - All

We choose this cruise because we had not been to most of the stops nor traveled with Norwegian and wanted to give it a try. Aside from the embarkation which was a NIGHTMARE because we waited in lines for over 3 hours with absolutely no communication from anyone regarding what was going on! People were lined up on the street for what seemed like miles. We heard rumor the ship was 3 hours late ...

Enjoyable Cruise to Cozumel, Grand Cayman and Ocho Rios

My wife and I chose this cruise mainly based on price. We traveled on our own to New Orleans and spent two nights there before the cruise. We enjoyed Bourbon Street, a ride on the streetcars, and the World War 2 Museum. The museum was awesome. We stayed at the Lafayette Hotel and were able to walk to the ship. If you don't have a lot of heavy luggage, and are staying the the ...

First Big Ship, Still Not Sure

We spent several days in New Orleans before the cruise because...well...it’s N’awlins! We stayed close enough to the port so walking there was easy. Embarkation was fairly easy; we boarded with our two carry ones, headed for O’Sheehan’s and waited for cabins to be available. The biggest drawback to our cabin location is that it overlooked the bow. Great view, but a challenging obstacle course ...

Great ship, horrible main dining rooms.

Overall, I felt like this was a great itinerary. I wish it wouldn't have started with 2 days at sea but it turned out to be good. The kids club and staff were amazing! We were so impressed with them! The service in the main dining rooms were horrendous. They had better servers in O'Sheehan's. The embarkation and disembarkation were smooth. The entertainment on the ship was pretty good. The ...

Not worth the big price tag

My family had booked this cruise and invited me along so I didn't really have a choice of boat or destinations. Cozumel, Mexico; Roatan, Honduras; Harvest Caye, Belize; Costa Maya, Mexico were our destinations. The first few days we were late on departure times. While in Honduras, there was "unexpected" construction happening at port so we had to tandem which took a whole hour to get off the boat ...

Worst Cruise Ever

The boat itself was beautiful and well kept. However, the service is one of the worst. The staff all seemed new and unfamiliar with the boat. They were not very attentive. The bartenders took forever to get drinks or even placing an order. The food servers were very cold and short. I couldn't book the activities I wanted due to lack of enough showings. The worst was a "surprise" tender. In the ...

Getaway “Freestyle”.......kinda do-it-yourself

Boyfriend selected it. My first cruise experience. Embarkation in New Orleans was a big mess......traffic, no signage or representatives to direct folks outside the terminal. Recommend taking a cab or ride share service, getting out near Mulate’s restaurant on Convention Center Blvd and simply crossing at Julia St with your luggage as opposed to sitting in traffic for a LONG time when approaching ...

Not our best cruise

Review for Norwegian Getaway to Transatlantic

We chose this cruise because we were excited to go to Europe and see London, Paris, Stonehenge, Ireland, etc. Embarkation and Disembarkation were very smooth as had been our previous cruise with Norwegian. We had sailed on the Breakaway earlier and chose this ship since it was the sister ship and we knew the layout. We had a family midship oceanview cabin. The room was nice. We always ate at ...

My Take - The Good and the Bad

Review for Norwegian Getaway to Transatlantic

This was out 9th cruise with NCL (40th overall). Other reviews for this cruise were bad and deservedly so. There are some areas where I disagree and I will state them here. DINING: This was a bit hit and miss. We thought the paid specialty restaurants were excellent with great food and service (we generally ate around 5-5:30). We went to Cagneys (3), Teppanyaki (3), La Cucina (2) and Moderno ...

We have sailed with NCL before and feel that they give fair value for the money. They have always treated us with respect, and we find their food and entertainment to our satisfaction. We missed a port in the Azores due to weather conditions, but nobody other than God is to blame for that. It was more important to maintain the safety of those on board than cater to our desires. The transferring ...
