The highlight of the cruise was the cabin. We upgraded to a family penthouse... for an additional $1000. It was a very nice cabin. Plenty of room for two adults and our two sons. The cabin was clean. Our cabin steward was outstanding. This was our 4th cruise, and he was the best, by far. He kept the cabin clean, organized and stocked. The bed was the most comfortable I have ever slept on, including my mattress at home. We should have taken the sheets off to see the brand of mattress... lol! Balcony was your standard balcony... but they are nice to have. The cabin was the best part of the cruise. Read Less

The room was great. There is a huge bedroom and amazing bathroom. If you are thinking of sharing this suite with adults, don't. The 2nd bedroom is much smaller than an inside cabin. No storage. No robes. No special shampoo in the bathroom. I could not understand, even if this room was occupied by children, that this bedroom would not include these minor amenities. Otherwise, the suite was wonderful. Large balcony, and the living area was a great space for the kids to move around without being on top of everyone. Read Less

Our cabin was the Emerald Penthouse – a non-Haven suite. It was a 2 bedroom, 2 bath suite on deck 11. In the suite was my husband and I and our 22 year old son. There was plenty of space so we didn’t feel like we were on top of each other for the 10-day cruise. The 2nd bedroom was small but adequate. I believe the bathroom for the 2nd bedroom was about the same size as a bathroom in a regular cabin. The master bedroom had a king-size bed that was very comfortable. The master bath was huge. Sometimes we all wanted to watch something different on t.v. just before bed and that is where the 3 of the 4 t.v.s in the suite came in handy. We never even turned on the 4th t.v. which was over the tub. One of the best perk was getting to have breakfast in Moderno and lunch in Cagney’s. Every meal we had in these locations was excellent. We originally booked a mini-suite but decided to change the reservation to a 2 bedroom suite. What a difference that made for us! We actually enjoyed spending time in our cabin because it was a decent size to accommodate 4 of us. In the past, we were overwhelmed with our tight quarters but found ourselves hanging out in the living room more than we ever have. It was also nice to rent movies (for free) right from our television. We thoroughly enjoyed the 2 bedroom and are now spoiled for the rest of our lives with cruising in a larger room. FYI - the 2 bedroom on the Norwegian Gem states that it is a queen sized bed in the master bedroom. The bed is actually larger than a queen sized bed by about 8 inches. Probably about 4 inches shy of a king-sized bed - very roomy and super comfortable. The master bath was absolutely amazing and I can't say enough about how wonderful it was. The shower had wonderful pressure and multiple jets. Both the shower and tub had a huge window overlooking the water. It was just fantastic! Double bathroom sinks and lots of counter space to boot. Other reviewers commented that they knocked the phone off the wall in the bathroom but we didn't have any problems what-so-ever. Even my 260 lb husband didn't have problems! He's like a bull in a china closet so maybe they moved the phone out of the way before our cruise? lol Read Less

Really enjoyed the 2 Bedroom / Bathroom Suite which had plenty of room. It can hold 6 people. The balcony is small, but we spent very little time out there. The bathroom shower and soaking tub extend out and take space away from the balcony. That makes for more space inside. Be sure to pull the shades down in the glass shower and tub area. There is also a sliding wooden door between living /dining area and the bedroom / large bathroom area. Just lock the door. So, you can order breakfast and the butler can drop it off, as long as the door sign does not say 'Do Not Disturb." The same thing for afternoon snacks he brings. That way you don't have to rush around when he rings the door bell! Read Less
