Pros. The entertainment was good, we saw the choir man musical and it was great. The direct staff was friendly and helpful. The excursions qe went on was great all the way around.
Cons. Getting on and off the boat in NYC was a nightmare. NCL told us a time of 11 to be there and ready we r there a bit before 10. Took 3 hours to get on the boat. The whole situation was chaotic. Then to get off we ...
For a newer LARGE cruise ship we expected more of a "WOW" factor in the public spaces and different areas of the ship to relax or be entertained in. We found the same basic layout of shops, different dining options, pool decks etc that have been on most ships over the last 15 years....just more people and cabins added. The one exception was the Thermal Spa which was very well appointed with many ...
This was our fourth NCL Cruise. I have to say when we compared it to our 14 Princess and 10 HAL, if we were to choice same route and dollar for Dollar, NCL would be dead last and have to be significantly cheaper. The rewards for being a Latitudes member at this point do not compare to the other lines.
We had a balcony room on the 10th floor . We did sail into gale force winds on the way to ...
Norwegian was highly recommended by friends. The ship was great, the company of Norwegian, not great. They schedule a cruise to dock and spend full day in Bermuda on Sunday when the country is closed! We wer unable to see many of the local attractions because the stores/restaurants were closed and buses ended service early. To keep from being stranded we had to be back to the boat by 5pm. NEVER ...
This was our first cruise and not our last. We were interested in this cruise because the timing was just right for our schedules. Unfortunately the weather didn’t cooperate. It was stormy and the ship was tossing a lot through most of the cruise. Especially towards the end. That didn’t keep people out of the hot tub’s however. And I was able to swim three of the days on the boat. I just had to ...
We did not actually choose this cruise ourselves, the cruise was chosen by our daughter and her fiance. They wanted a cruise which was in this specific time period (end of Oct) and fit into their budget. They picked Norwegian specifically because it offered free at sea specialty dining, internet, and alcoholic beverages and seemed to be a good value for the money.
We never went on a cruise ship ...
This is my second trip on the Escape. Embarkation this time was a little less chaotic because I checked in at 10:30 a.m. Even though staterooms were not ready I was able to eat on ship and relax. Disembarkation was chaotic as always. Long lines wrapped around everywhere. Better to do the "self assist" option and not wait for your luggage color tags to be called.
I traveled with friends ...
Entertainment, especially Choir of Man, was top-notch.
Port excursions to Burmuda also good. Boat to Hamilton and Mini-Bus tour of the entire island.
Casino deck reeked of cigarette smoke. Avoided it completely. Yuck.
Was never given the option of the "Sole Passenger" accomodations and paid double occupancy price. Didn't feel I got value for the price.
Savor, Taste restaurants ...
We decided to go on another Bermuda cruise, but we had very few choices in October from NY/NJ. We have always gone earlier in the season.
While we have always gone on smaller ships (Gem, Summit), we decided that Bermuda would be the gentlest way to experience a big ship, since there would be no tendering necessary, and only one port at which we could come and go at our leisure.
Honestly, ...
I'm an experienced cruiser in my late 40s and enjoy traveling with my family and as a single female. This trip was my sixth visit to Bermuda and I have to say right off the bat, if you live on the East Coast and you love beautiful beaches and ample sea-life, friendly people and fascinating history there is no easier or better destination. I've stayed on land and berthed on cruise ships and ...
