We chose ncl because they had a cruise in the dates we needed.. However we have sailed royal in the past. We have never had a crew argue with is about things we aren't happy with. We usually do a cash account and with doing so ncl suspended our account 3 times on this cruise for owing money to them since they also did not allow us to remove automatic gratuities until the last day. So with them suspending the account we weren't able to buyanything on ship or get drinks with our ultimate drink package. They still charge you taxes on beverages as well. Boarding the ship took extremely roo long and getting off the ship was like being sent through a maze. This ship has no organization the ship itself made no sense . they do not enforce the adult only areas.... For such a large ship they only had one adults pool where there were always kids. Smoking on the ship is no where near a pool not even on the same deck. The pool when we did get in it was so crowded and sorry I got out immediately because I had a hand full of hair stuck to me. . the buffet food was aweful .. Just a horrible experience Read Less

We had an AMAZING time! Everything was perfect. Jacky the cruise Director was awesome! He was very involved and had us laughing the entire time. All of the staff was so pleasant to be around. They always had a smile on their face and greeted us so cheerfully every time. They went above and beyond for us. I wouldn’t have changed a thing besides the final disembarkment process, that took FOREVER! All of the shows were so entertaining. Our favorite was Choir of Man and the Wine Lovers Musical. The comedians had great shows also. My husband and I did the Newlywed game and it was a blast. We had no idea that we would be famous because of it and everyone on the boat recognized us. Everyone on the boat was amazing. I felt like I was with family and I have been so sad since the day we got back because I miss it so much. Overall we are extremely happy with our experience and will definitely be back! Read Less

Sailed with NCL Escape on April 7,19 out of New York for the first time having done a few with NCL and other cruise lines before. It was one of our greatest sailings ever. We got a very nice large balcony cabin 8138, with two sunbathing beds, tables and chairs. Our cabin steward was beyond awesome and friendly. At the restaurants, prior to making an order, the waitresses always asked about any food allergies you may have to have, and we really appreciate for doing that. I celebrated my Birthday during the sailing and must to say, that the attention of our cruise director Kivanc and his assistant Danielle made our sailing spectacular above and beyond all expectations. Thank you very much for everything! While I have been on other Norwegian ships and enjoyed them, I would probably do another cruise on the Escape. However couple things have to be improved: the variety of the night shows, and next cruise booking for Canadian guests (No Canadian dollar bookings on the CruiseNext Desk). I would like to thank Marthinus for all the help and support he provided. For the people who are planning to park their car at the port, be aware that the price per day is $40.00US. https://www.nycruise.com/manhattan-terminal/parking/ Read Less

It was my first time going on a cruise, and it has been a great experience overall. Cleanliness: The ship is very clean. I found staffs cleaning public area at least once every hour. The stewards would clean your room as requested by simply pressing a button by your stateroom door. We had ours cleaned twice a day. I also looked forward to the towel animal on our bed every night. Shore Excursions: I was hesitated to get the shore excursions at first, thinking that it would be cheaper for me to arrange my own itinerary, but I'm glad that I added them. NCL prepared all the transportation, so there was nothing to worry about during vacation. For Port Canaveral, we chose Kennedy Space Center. We read reviews that it is not enough time to visit everything, but we found that it worked out fine if you researched on what you want to see beforehand. My husband and I downloaded the Kennedy Space Center app ahead of time, so we already knew which part we wanted to visit and got to see everything we planned. Our second stop was Great Stirrup Cay, but our ship could not stop there due to high winds. Nevertheless, NCL refunded us for our shore excursion immediately without delay. The captain also notified the passengers promptly, sent out an updated agenda in less than one hour, and stopped for an extra day at Nassau. For Nassau, we chose Aquaventure. They were not many people on the weekday, and you definitely have time to go on all the slides. It is also a plus that the staffs greeted all passengers with towels to clean our hands and refreshing drinks by the ship every time when we came back from shore. Food: The food were simply amazing. I'd highly recommend getting the speciality dining package to try a variety of food, just be prepared that the waiting time can be lengthy at times. Read Less

I just came back from the March 31st sailing from NY to the Bahamas and had a wonderful time on the beautiful Escape. I booked just a week in advance for a guarantee balcony (last minute deal) and lucked out with the aft balcony 12908, next to a Haven cabin. My new Platinum status came with all sort of perks that make me feel like a VIP. I arrived at the terminal at 10:38 and was able to check in immediately as Group 1 and boarded the ship by 11 am. After lunch, I went to the Supper Club and made the show reservations. I also went to CruiseNext desk to book the Behind the Scenes tour (very informative) for Platinum members which took place at 9:15 am the very next day. I saw 2 separate Supper Club shows (Comedian/Magician and Rocketman) and had 2 separate dinner menus. I also booked the Escape to the Big Top which is very challenging. One 1 out of the 10 teams was able to solve the puzzle with a minute left on the clock. I loved the Choir of Men show, saw it twice, enjoyed the choreography of After Midnight and it was fun to listen to Dueling Pianos (come early to grab seats). I then went to the Comedy Club to make the reservations for my 2 free specialty dinners (remember to grab the coupons to bring to dinner). Had a free bottle of wine with the Le Bistro dinner. The cabin was ready by 1:30 and had the free sparkling wine and water as my Platinum perks. Chocolate covered strawberries were delivered later that afternoon. I also received petit fours when we were in Nassau. I had fun on the water rides and the ropes course. Played Bocce for the very first time. Food at the buffet was decent too. We ate there for both the Seafood Night and the Oriental Night. Also had 2 types of wings at O'Sheehans. Had a great server Danilo at the Savor who was very attentive and serve our food promptly with no long waits in between. The game shows at the Atrium is always crowded so come early if you want a seat. The audience participation was wonderful so the shows were fun to watch. I stayed on the ship when we arrived at Port Canaveral to enjoy the activities onboard since I've been to the Kenneday Space Center. We didn't dock at Great Stirrup Cay due to high wind and arrived at Nassau instead by 1 pm. I signed up for the Atlantis Beach break and had a great time touring the resort, seeing the Big Dig aquarium and enjoying the waves at Atlantis Beach (paid $20 for a beach umbrella so bring some cash). On the next day, we paid $30/person for the 2.5 hour taxi tour around the island. We went to Fort Fincastle, Queen's Staircase, Fort and Beach Montague (calm beach) and instead of Atlantis, saw Cabbage Beach (beautiful but very high waves) instead. Afterwards, we walked around town for some shopping and also did the 15 minute walk to Junkanoo Beach (rocky in certain spots so need water shoes). On the final morning, we had a leisurely breakfast at Savor. Then played ping pong until our tag color was called. We had the Red tag and it took an hour to finally leave the ship and clear customs (lined up at 10 and exited by 11) . I think the aft exit might have a shorter wait since they don't have as much distance to walk. All in all, it was a great cruise and I would love to come back to the Escape again. Bought more CruiseNext certificates to apply toward future cruises. Read Less

My husband and I decided to take our first vacation together without our kids. He loves cruises and swears by them and I’ve only ever been on one cruise before this which was a great experience. This was not as great as I thought it would be. There seemed to be great things for young kids and elderly but not as much for the Middle Aged or couples trying to enjoy their time. Our first stop in Florida was a waste of time..not too sure why they would even make that a port to visit. We spent money on a shuttle to take us to cocoa beach and it was a complete waste of time. Weather was horrible and people were walking back before they even got there. Shuttle driver was telling us there is cvs and Walgreens as if they were a site to see. Anyways, our next stop was bahamas and that was great. Weather was perfect and the island owned by Norwegian cruise itself was beautiful..next was nassau bahamas which was extremely crowded because there was about 5 other cruise ships docked as well at the same time. Honestly most of our time was spent on the ship other then a few hours for the two bahama days. We didn’t have much to do so we ate most of the day because we didn’t know what else to do. Entertainment could of been much better..too Manucho trivia games which seemed to gear towards more of the older crowd. Dining was good but service on our previous cruise seemed much more better and personal. They made everyone feel special whereas here you can tell when they gave special attention to someone else because let’s say they were dining with a high ranking working. We hated that you had to make reservations for the show and that there was only 2 complimentary dining options plus the buffet. They have 25 dining options and only 2 are free so most of those stayed empty throughout the cruise.. waste of space and services. Shore excursions were extremely expensive and bahamas was ripping people off getting them to pay for aquarium and public beach that people were going in for free. Cabins were fine considering we had inside cabins but getting to the rooms was so confusing and they separated my husband and I from my brother and sister in law when they knew we were traveling together. I would go on a cruise again but not this one unfortunately. I wish I had taken my children atleast they would of enjoyed it much more. Atleast we got to rest though. Overall it was a average rating for all topics. Read Less

The ship is huge but the atrium (where it all happens) is tiny. There’s no room for the amount of people on the boat to attend the shows and fun things going around. There aren’t even enough show times for everyone to attend in the main theatre. You have to make reservations right away or you won’t get in. Some shows were BORING. Entertainment was not good. I liked the entertainment in the supper club, which is kind of hidden and no one knows is free. There’s so much on the ship that has a hidden cost. We had lots of incorrect charges on our account that Norwegian made nearly impossible to have removed. We were charged for the mini bar that we had removed on day 1.. as well as charges from one of the restaurants for the drinks that they brought that were incorrect. Still have not been reimbursed. We only saw the cruise director once... and we attended a lot of things. He didn’t go above and beyond. We wanted to go to the staff talent show but the theatre was so full you couldn’t get near it. The pool is also so small we were only able to get in it once. The hot tubs there were maybe like 2 on the main deck and 2 elsewhere on other decks. Could not even get into! Why such a big ship and not more on the decks? The gym is the tiniest little sad thing. They must have really just overbooked the cruiise ship or have way too many staterooms. I thought the food was good but at the buffets the food wasn’t hot which worries me a little bit. The main dining room food was really good and hot though. Port Canaveral is not a good port to stop at. Read Less

This was our second time on the Escape, enjoyed it a little better the first time. The first time we went was in September and leaving from Miami so the weather was a bit different and the waves were a bit bigger this time. I traveled with my husband, 14 year old son and 19 year old daughter. It was very easy getting on and off the ship. Embarkation and disembarkation went very smooth and was very organized! Entertainment- Headliners Comedy club was very good. We didn't go to the dueling pianos on this cruise but always have and we always enjoyed it. After Midnight was good. By far the best show on this cruise and probably I've seen on any cruise was Choir of Man! This bunch on guys really knew how to get the audience involved and they put on a fantastic show! Loved every minute of the show!!! Cruise Director Scott is great and the rest of the entertainment crew do a great job as well!!! There is always something to do. Dining- We ate in at Cagney's and La Cucina for Specialty Dining and both were excellent from beginning to end. The service was very attentive and perfect timing in between courses. The food was excellent! At La Cucina our favorites were the mushroom risotto and the fettuccine alfredo! Parmesan Truffle Fries, Crab Cake and Pork Belly were the favorites at Cagney's aside from the delicious Steaks! The food at O'Sheehans was very fresh and tasted great. The chicken wings and the Fish and Chips were our favorites. The service there was also excellent. We ate at each of the main dining rooms. The service isn't as attentive and the selections aren't as great but that's why they have the Specialty Dining experience. I'm not really a fan of the Buffet but that's my personal preference. They do have very good varieties and the food is not bad for a buffet. Value- I feel like if you can go on the ship and tell yourself that you are not going to spend any money, the cruise is at a decent value. It's very hard to not be tempted by the things that cost extra and if you're traveling with kids it's even more difficult. There are a lot of things on the ship that cost extra. Cabin- We stayed in a Family Mini Suite with Balcony. It was a decent size for a cruise cabin but definately a tight space as most cabins are. Shout out to Jenifer, she was very attentive to us and kept our room clean! First day we asked for extra pillows and towels and we had within an hour. Ports and Shore Excursions- If I were to do this itinerary again I would definitely go a different time of the year. Florida was cold and rainy. My husband and son went to Kennedy Space Center and they said it was great but wish they had more time as you weren't able to get off the ship until 1. My daughter and I took a Shuttle to Cocoa Beach. One huge suggestion I have about that is to book it on the ship. It costs the same and you will have priority. The long was ridiculously long for the shuttle and a lot of people were complaining about the wait. Great Stirrup Cay was absolutely beautiful and the weather was great! Other reviews that I have read have said that a lot of times you are unable to go to Great Stirrup Cay due to having to take the Tender Boat. They say a lot of times the winds and waves make the Tender Boat unsafe. You can use your beverage package on the island and the meals are included. So many other things cost extra there though, none of the water sports are included, not even a float. Nassau was a rainy day and it was difficult to shop because so many people stop you to try to sell you stuff. I would definitely suggest booking an excursion. Overall I do love the Escape and I love cruising NCL. The service is excellent and the food is very good overall! I wouldn't cruise this time of year again but I will definitely cruise NCL again. The cruise ship was very smoky. The food was ok. The ship layout caused lots of traffic issues and had no where to relax quietly. And the service... While I don’t regret this cruise, I don’t think I’ll ever go on a Norwegian Cruise again. The service was awful including changes in our stateroom attendant, catching a bartender in a lie (cause he didn’t want to make the drink I asked for), interrupting several meals by management to question me why I didn’t like my service (not after the meal, while I had an entree on my fork), and then when I did complain i was handed a paper to write my greivances and then ignored. I didn’t feel heard at all. But... the hardest pill to swallow, I felt that several crew members went out of their way to ignore that fact that we are a gay couple. From pulling out chairs across from eachother (all the other couples around us were diagonal), asking questions when I asked to put the beds together, and ignoring our anniversary. The entertainment was as expected. Not fantastic but entertaining certainly. The howl at the moon dueling pianos was by far my favorite entertainment. Water slides and ropes course was fun but not open much. We only dined at the complementary restaurants which were good but rarely remarkable and the food was never served hot. Bread was stale the whole week. The private island far exceeded my expectations (though the food was terrible). Super clean and plenty of chairs for us early birds. The rendering process was incredibly frustrating especially as we had to sit in the theatre for over and hour and then several people were allowed to jump the line without the wait. Makes no sense. Nassau was disappointing. We went on the seahorse catamaran and snorkel which was fun. Very cheap snorkels that didn’t work but after we decided to just ditch the equipment we did enjoy our swim in the clear blue water. The town part was super shady. I was offered drugs twice in the first ten minutes on the island, had two separate instances of attempted cons, was totally ripped off by the lunch spot, and the shops were full of scammers and over aggressive salespeople. My husband and I took our 1st cruise last week and it will be out last. For starters we were supposed to receive a copy of our final bill by 5:00 a.m. the morning of departure & didn't. Arriving home we were charged $300 with no explanation, logged into our account & our summary is "unavailable". We checked our charges the night before and they were $114 which we agreed with. We did not make it to Great Stirrup Cay which was the main reason we booked this cruise to begin with. I called guest services on board to find out what was happening and was rudely told we can do this it's in the fine print. I asked where we could go in Nassau and if there will be beaches nearby and was told there is a beach within walking distance but it's not that nice so we could take a taxi to another beach. I advised that we were nervous to do so in a country we are not familiar with especially since I am pregnant. I was then told I don't know what else to tell you and hung up on. Speaking of my pregnancy I was extremely upset to learn the casino is in the middle of the ship in the middle of everything, I had to walk through second hand smoke daily and expose both myself and unborn child when my doctor has specifically told me to stay away from it. Not only was the smoke on floor 7, but 6 & 8 b/c your casino is not closed off & smoke is not contained. Its disgusting and unsafe for pregnant guests, children, elderly and those medical conditions! It was evident to us throughout our entire cruise that the staff hates their job. 80% of the staff we encountered were rude, nasty, & annoyed by the fact that they had to do their job. We traveled with someone who has an allergy and every meal was a disaster waiters would roll their eyes at her & walk away without answering her question. 90% of our meals were either incorrect or we just wouldn't get what we ordered. My husband & I attempted the buffet and on 2 SEPARATE OCCASIONS we found HAIR IN OUR FOOD! Although our room was clean there were 2 -3 occasions we found LONG BLACK HAIR in our clean towels when getting out of the shower (WE ARE BLONDE)!I called guest services again to make restaurant reservations and was told there weren't any, I could try just going and see if they could get me in. When I explained my frustration and disappointment with our trip, we were again abruptly hung up on. Finally, on our second day in Nassau we got off the boat around 10:30 a.m. I had to go right back on the boat as I was not feeling well only to find out this is when Norwegian thought it would be a good time to hold your fire drill and stopped all elevators. I had to climb the stairs all the way to the 13th floor pregnant and not feeling well. My husband and I are so disgusted with Norwegian and our trip Our vacation was not enjoyable at all. Read Less

We ended up choosing this particular cruise so we could enjoy the best of two worlds. The ship, and the port destinations. Being that this was our first cruise, and one of the biggest ships in the industry, we had to allow ourselves enough time to enjoy both things. The staff on the Norwegian Escape were the best and truly made you feel welcomed and taken care of. Our first night was an interesting one for everyone. Around midnight, we were woken up from our stateroom from a big gust of wind that tilted the ship and sent things flying. This incident lasted about 3-4 minutes, but it seemed like a lot longer. We were thankfully in our bed when the incident happened. Unfortunately a lot of people were still around the ship and were injured. Again the staff did a fantastic job taking care of the situation. When we woke up the next day, the ship was cleaned up and everything was back the way it was originally. This particular storm made national news and I am grateful to have experienced such an experience, but the way the staff handled the situation, it was like an everyday experience for them. They were amazing and on top of everything. We had a few pieces of broken glass in our room which we were able to clean up a bit, but as soon as they could, they were there to clean it up for us. As our cruise continued on its path to our next port, we continued to enjoy everything the ship had to offer. There is so much on this ship to experience, and take in. The comedy shows were our favorite, and there was always plenty to see from them. They have it all planned out so that particular shows have different material. Next we enjoyed the Broadway shows After Midnight, Choir of Man, and Company of Men. Choir of Man was our favorite and enjoyed the pub style show with free beer before the show starts. The shows were included in our travel fare, and were amazing. I would highly recommend taking in all the shows they have to offer. Overall the ports and the trip was great. It was unfortunate that we couldn't enjoy Great Stir Up Cay, but we did get to enjoy two wonderful nights in Nassau, Bahamas. We used day one for swimming, and day two for shopping. Had we been there for only one day, this would of been difficult to accomplish. On the ship there is so much to take in. There is a rope course, several water slides, a miniature putt putt course, and several pools and hot tubs. If you are thinking of a cruise, and not sure what to choose, The Norwegian Escape will certainly give you an amazing cruise and vacation. Read Less

We just returned from a 7-day cruise. This was cruise #6 with Norwegian and we have never had a complaint - before this. Our cabin steward was pleasant enough when he saw us but seemed to really not care. We got our comp sparkling wine the 2nd night. We asked for ice one afternoon and never got it. He rarely changed our dirty glasses. We have always sailed on ships that have smoking areas that are either enclosed or out of the way. On this ship, one must cross through smoking areas to get to other areas of the ship. Sadly, while we love piano bars, we had to give this one a miss as it was in a smoking area. Further, the casino (a smoking area) is mid-ship and the smoke rises to other areas on other floors. We found the hostesses at the comp restaurants cold and officious - something we'd never experienced on a Norwegian ship before. And, as others have mentioned, service in the restaurants was brutally slow. We did enjoy the shows that we went to - they were top-notch. And, as before, we really have no complaints about the food - although they could really add more veggies to the dishes in the sit-down restaurants. Had this been our first Norwegian cruise, we would never return. We will certainly never book on the Escape again. Read Less

Disclosures: - Traveled with wife, both in our 30s; no kids or family on the trip - Both vegetarian, with extremely minimal alcohol intake Pros: - Excellent staff and service. As with our prior Norwegian experience, the staff go out of their way whenever possible to accommodate your needs - Sports/water complex is an unexpected treat on the open ocean. Ropes course is death defying fun (I am intensely acrophobic). And water slide usage was limited only by my tolerance for climbing the tower over and over again. Water is gently warmed in all pools, making it very comfortable in 60-70 degree weather. - The gym is excellent, and an extremely small proportion of cruisers actually use it. Felt like an enormous private gym for the most part. - Oceanview balconies have beautiful views, and are built such that one can't accidentally peek into someone else's balcony space. Cons: - 1:4 staffing levels become noticeable during busiest dinner dining hours (6PM-8PM) - Due to the time of year, cold weather At Sea days made the ship feel quite crowded - Elevators are slow during the At Sea days and embarkation/disembarkation process. Not a problem for us, as the stairs were always accessible, but I could imagine issues Tips: - Pick a dining room/time (I would recommend the Manhattan Club for the rear views) early in the cruise and establish yourself with a server. The staff are extremely service oriented and can pamper you in unexpected ways if they know what you like. - Pick a port day and stay on the ship for at least some portion. Using the sports complex (minigolf, bocce, waterslides, and rope course) without a line is worth it if planned into your itinerary - Reserve all the shows you'd like on the first night. But just show up if you feel like going to any of the free shows. All of our shows had plenty of open seats for latecomers or standby's - Get a balcony room. On a trip with 3.5 at sea days in cold weather, you'll relish some quiet time with a beautiful view - For those same cold weather days, ensure you pack some additional warm clothes. Summary: - Good ship. Great service. Would book again, but only in warm weather. Norwegian again finds that amazing sweet spot on price and service. Read Less

I’m going to start at top and go down the categories, ending with final comments. This is only my second cruise. Cabin- Clean but super small. Our steward Nosil was amazing! He was super appreciative of his bonus tips and that was sweet. Dining- We loved Cagneys (Ribeye and surf n Turf) servers were amazing. moderno-mwe weren’t huge fans but staff was wonderful just to much spice (savory not heat)for our taste. Bayamo- (surf n Turf and seared scallops on pork Belly) everything and everyone was amazing. The main dining room- the best host and seater ever, so much personality. Servers seemed to just going through motions at all the main dining rooms. I can’t tell you how many times we were told by different F&B staff that they’ve been on for 8 months. NCL should truly shorten the length of their contracts. These people are sooooo burnt out. Food was great every lunch and dinner we ate all restaurants including sushi night at buffet. Embarkation- long nclstaff very helpful but port authority very grumpy people in general. Baggage handlers were super helpful also. Activities- Game shows fun! Bingo some drunk family dragged the last session out. The dance parties were a blast! Met a lot of great people. Cruise director, Alvin and his staff were amazing. Entertainment- Russ was amazing (acoustic) wasn’t able to catch any shows as they were all reserved up. Public restrooms- A lot better than my last cruise. Service- Steward- Amazing Bar staff- understaffed and grumpy a lot and we tipped on every drink so I could only imagine what vibe non extra tippers get. Servers- wonderful in specialty restaurants, lacking energy and personality in complimentary in general. There were a few rockstars like the host at taste and Maine dining room. Shore Excursions- We did everything through locals as NCLs are over priced. Value for money- They charge way to much for mini bar items. Slot machines tight. Starbucks prices great. Food items prices great. UBP wonderful perk Specialty perk amazing bonus also. Tendering- One of the worst experiences in my life and I’m not being dramatic. Debrking- Walked off was fast. The Sice H20 for adults only until 6 was wonderful. Photographers only had two pictures from us for all week and they took a more. Some cruisers had dozens. That was disappointing. I definitely will cruise with NCL again. Read Less

We loved the activities and the activities staff were so much fun as they led, engaged and joined in the activities. The food in all the areas we visited was prepared well and delicious. The bar tenders were excellent, providing super service and even remembering our names along with the drinks we preferred. My experience was wonderful. The ship was beautiful. Let me preface this by saying I am usually a glass half full kind of person. I grew up without a lot so appreciate the little things in life and understand the value of a dollar. With that being said, I have never cruised before and probably never will after this experience. Too many people and not enough space. Getting on the boat was a nightmare 1 hour and 45 minute wait in line with bags in hand. The terminal is filthy. Then our rooms weren't ready so we sat outside on the cold deck with hundreds of others in 12 degree weather. I didn't realize we had other options on other floors to sit inside. My room was not vacuumed and Legos were on the floor. The mirrors had spots all over them. I cleaned the room before I unpacked. Very annoying after being cold and tired. During the remainder of the week things seemed to stay the same. Not enough chairs and crowded hot tubs, pool and activities. We were off the boat a total of 10 hours in 7 days. One short stop to Coco beach and one to Belmora island. I was ready to pull my hair out. We were unable to tender to Great Stirrup Cay which I understand is not the ships fault exactly, but from my research this happens often. Why advertise if it's a 50/50 chance the boat will stop? Our boat to Belmora island was in shambles and the island was disgusting with garbage and litter all over. Don't even get me started on the "luxury cabanas", it's embarrassing to advertise them as such. I wonder when the last time the pools at this place were cleaned. Getting off the boat was the best/easiest part. The sad part of all of this...my husband is 16 years in the Navy and coming up on a deployment and will be away from our family for the next 9 months or so. This was our last vacation before he leaves. I'm crushed. We tried to make the most of it but unfortunately it just wasn't feasible and we are cranky and tired from the whole experience. Read Less

Let me start off by saying that I didn't want to compare these two ships as every cruise line is different in their own ways, but the Norwegian Escape left my wife and I with a bad taste in our mouths after having a wonderful time on Royal Caribbeans Anthem the year prior. The two boats are easily comparable as both were launched in 2015 and hold roughly the same amount of passengers, but the differences between the two are vast. I'll start from the beginning. My wife and I were on Royal Caribbeans Anthem in February of 2018 and we absolutely loved the ship. The experience itself seemed to check every box for what a cruise should be. When deciding on what cruise line to choose from, we were told you couldn't go wrong with Royal Caribbean or Norwegian. Last February we choose the Anthem, and for our second cruise February 2019, which would be for our honeymoon we choose the Escape. Embarkation Starting with the embarkation at pier 88 in NYC, we arrived around 930am which was our scheduled time. Little did we know, we wouldn't be boarding the ship until at least 3 hours later as Norwegian staff crammed as many people into the pier as possible. People were laying on the floor and sitting where they could making the place an absolute mess. Not the greatest first impression to say the least. When we boarded the Anthem the year prior, we were stepping foot onto the ship in about 30 minutes from their pier in Bayonne NJ. In this aspect Royal Caribbean has mastered the embarkation process. Buffet (Garden Cafe) Eventually we boarded the ship and decided to grab something to eat at the buffet which is called the Garden Cafe. We found it strange and alarming that Norwegian staff wasn't telling guests to wash their hands before before entering the buffet as this is a quick way germs and viruses are spread. Mind you about two cruises prior, the escape had a norovirus outbreak which caused many staff and guests to become sick. What is this cruise line thinking? On the anthem the staff ropes off the area to walk straight into the buffet, forcing guests to wash their hands in a line of sinks. So now we enter the buffet and its an another absolute mess. Walking around you were constantly being bumped and elbowed by guests while trying to keep your plate in your hands. I understand that plenty of guests had just boarded the ship and all wanted to eat just like we did, but this was a daily occurrence at the buffet no matter what time you went. The layout just wasn't made to hold a medium to large amount of people at the same time. The food quality was also sub par, with the best choices being hamburgers and hot dogs on most days. On Royals Anthem we visited the buffet quite often as there was plenty of food to choose from, and the layout never made you feel crowded or overwhelmed. Spa Balcony Stateroom After leaving the buffet it was announced that our room was ready so we started to head to our cabin. While walking down the hallway we noticed some other rooms had been decorated for special occasions with balloons and signs for birthdays and such. Naturally we were excited to see what Norwegian had set up in our room for our honeymoon. To our amazement when we opened our door there was no sign that my wife and I were celebrating our special occasion at all. What we found was a piece of paper that stated we would receive a cake at dinner to celebrate our special occasion. We didn't ask for anything to be set up in our room, but it's the little things that cruise lines do to go out of their way that can be truly special and show how above and beyond they would go for their guests. In this moment Norwegian had dropped the ball again. On the bright side our stateroom attendant was very polite and courteous. Ship Design/Layout Now for the layout of the ship, as many other reviewers have mentioned it's very cookie cutter and not aesthetically pleasing. The sight lines are awful, blocked by zig-zagging decks and walls. There's not much about the ship that wowed us. It's like Norwegian tried to cram as many restaurants into the ship as possible which unfortunately comes at the cost of passenger comfortability. Everywhere you went there was a crowd of people. The only way I can explain it is, no matter where you looked it seemed as if a show just let out and people didn't know where to go. The design of the ship forces crowds of people to be bottle necked into small areas and walkways. While on the Anthem the ship was at full capacity, but you would rarely feel that way as the layout and design of the ship helps control the flow of guests to not make it feel crowded. On the escape you absolutely knew that the ship was at its fullest capacity as you struggled to fight the crowds in every area. Numerous guests we had talked to stated that this was their first cruise and would probably be their last due to this and we had to assure them that there are other ships and cruise lines out there that don't feel the way the escape feels. Other guests even apologized to us that we were celebrating our honeymoon on the ship as they felt just as overwhelmed and uncomfortable as we did. Also be aware there is 1 laughably tiny outdoor pool on this ship that can fit roughly 30 of the 4000 people aboard. We found found it quite strange considering this is a cold weather ship sailing from New York in February. There are 0 indoor pools, just a large heated indoor spa jacuzzi which is located in the Thermal Spa. Compare this to the Anthems 2 large indoor pools and 1 large outdoor pool. Drink package After purchasing the highest drink package you would assume that every drink you order will be free. Well not on Norwegian where bottled Norwegian water will be an upcharge of $3 or more. Also you better get used to the sub-par potted coffee at the buffet because if you want any espresso drink on the ship you'll be paying extra for it. Norwegian cruise lines really couldn't include water and espresso in the drink package? On the Anthem bottled water is of course free with the drink package, along with espresso drinks and the like. In fact the Anthem actually has a Starbucks on its main floor that is 100% free with its drink package. Also if you'd like to play pool, darts, bowling, better swipe that room key because its all an upcharge to your account. Norwegian trying to nickel and dime you were common words heard around the ship from other guests. Speaking of room keys, Norwegian requires you to carry it around at all times in order to swipe for drinks/food or to enter/exit the ship and stateroom. Royal Caribbean gives you a rubber bracelet that replaces you room key so no need to keep anything in your pockets as this bracelet will do all the above. Casino The only gripe I had with the casino is that its spread out across a bunch of rooms which makes it lose that tight table gambling vibe. Rarely would you hear people cheering at the roulette or craps tables. Instead of the casino being its own entity, slot machines are spread across hallways making it look like Norwegian wanted this to be a cash grab for anyone who walked by. Shows/Musical Performances While on the ship we attended 3 shows at the theater. The Choir of Man, After Midnight, and a card magicians act. The Choir of Man and After Midnight were both okay at best, nothing to really get excited about as the shows drag along till you'e wondering when it'll end. Both shows lacked a storyline and were more cabaret style song performances. The theater itself was not visually pleasing and looked like a run of the mill movie theater. Being a musician for 20 plus years, I will say that the live band for After Midnight was excellent. The card magician was very entertaining as he keep you interested and laughing throughout his performance. Apart from the theater, every single night there were live performances in almost every bar on the ship. Now normally I wouldn't complain about this, but most of these musicians lacked talent to the point they were laughable to watch. It's like Norwegian didn't care about talent and just wanted every room to be filled with live noise. Aside from that, other reviews mentioned a common problem which is that the volume of these performers was headache inducing making you not able to tolerate being in the same area or room for too long of a time. Spa To my wife and I, the only saving grace for this ship was the thermal spa. The thermal spa, which you need to purchase a spa package or day pass for, is absolutely essential to get away from this crowded ship. We spent most of our time in this area as this was the only place where we could relax and not feel like choosing the Escape was a terrible decision. The rooms in the Thermal Spa include a salt room, sauna, solarium, steam room, and snow room. All of these roooms are relaxing in their own way. The Thermal Spa has comfortable lounge chairs/heated stone seats with an amazing view out the front of the ship. Again, this was the only place in the ship to actually get away from the rest of the ship. Sit down dining/Up charge restaurants While the buffet food on the Anthem was much better than the Escape, The Escapes sit down food was better than the Anthems. The complimentary sit down dining in the Manhattan room on the Escape offered delicious meals and the staff at all these restaurants were excellent. The food at the up charge restaurants on the Escape was also fantastic. We ate at Cagneys, Moderno, and Teppanyaki. I can't attest to the up charge restaurants on the Anthem as we didn't visit any. Ports As other reviews from different departures have mentioned, it's become a common event that the Escape frequently skips over stopping at their private island, The Great Stirrup Cay. This comes as a great disappointment as this should be one of the most relaxing stops on the trip. Without this stop, guests lose a beach day and are stuck on a crowded boat gazing out at the water they wish they could be swimming in. We were notified that we would not be stopping at this island around 930am, yet we could not get to another port until 7pm, losing an entire beach day. Remember leaving out of New York, this stop is imperative to enjoying a beach vacation in February. Losing this stop effectively hurts the enjoyment of this vacation as it's only 1 of 2 tropical ports you stop at. Reading other reviews it seems there's some kind of connection between the Escape almost NEVER stopping a this location. On the other hand, Royal Caribbean is actually currently building a dock at their private island (Coco Cay) to prevent the tendering process and therefore any disappointment of not being able to stop there. Cleanliness Referring back to how Norwegian staff allowed guests into the buffet without washing their hands, I ended up catching some sort of cold/sinus infection on the the 3rd day of the cruise. Whether or not this is related to such, by the end of the cruise you heard plenty of coughing and hacking from other guests. While walking around the ship glasses and plates on the floor and in the corners was a common sight. As a previous reviewer mentioned, on royals ships the staff would all chip together to get a task done. Plenty of times I watched as Norwegian staff would carelessly walk by a mess that needed to be cleaned up. Service of staff Whats even more frustrating than a crowded ship is staff that can't even answer the simplest of questions. Multiple times we asked a crew member a question only to be diverted to another crew member who also didn't have an answer. Sometimes the staff members actually didn't seem to have enough language in order to be able to help and communicate with us. The day before disembarkation, my wife and I approached a staff member standing next to the luggage tags and asked a simple question about which tag to use. The staff member simply looked at us in confusion and proceeded to point at the guest services line which was 20 people long. Every time we called guest services from out stateroom, we were on hold for 10 minutes with not one single person answering the phone. On the Anthem, Royal Caribbeans staff would rarely not be able to answer a question, and if they couldn't they would go out of their way to find you an answer. There were plenty of times on the Anthem that you would see multiple staff members standing around with a sign in their hand saying, "How can I help you?" Overall our experience with Norwegian cruise lines was abysmal. My wife and I absolutely did not feel as we were on vacation, let alone our honeymoon. This is not the way we wanted to spend such a special occasion surrounded by crowds, mess, noise, and confusion. To top it all an incapable, inexperienced crew that doesn't seem to care about making your trip special and unforgettable. It is unknown if we will sail Norwegian cruise lines in the future, but I can guarantee you we will not step foot on the disaster you call a ship, the Escape. If this was our first cruise, we certainly would never sail on a cruise ship again. Fortunately for us, we have experienced Royal Caribbeans Anthem, and know the wonderful experience quality cruising can bring. Read Less

Winter because it was the only time my brother could cruise for our mom's 90th birthday. As Haven guests with mom in wheelchair and on oxygen, embarking was horrible. Stuck all of us in a small area waiting to board. Way to many people in a closed space. Haven area is excellent! Butler and concierge were top notch. Only issue is now have so many Haven guests the Haven restaurant could not accommodate all of us. NCL needs to provide a better solution after all you are being charged a lot as a Haven Guest for that restaurant accommodation. Shows were great! February has way to many kids running all over the ship with No Parental guidance. Left to run crazy. Not good. NCL needs to change policy and make sure parents watch and accompany their children. Seven year olds were alone on elevators. Scary!! The Tobacco Road lounge is more about good whiskey and a good cigar. On every cruise my husband and I go and enjoy this, not this time. The humidor cigar room was loaded with all cigarette smoke. Horrible. Another issue is the private island. Big issue. We could not take the tender due to wind and safety. Well NCL get going on building a dock. Royal Caribbean has one on all their private islands. People pay and should get what they pay for or issue everyone a cash refund for that day lost. Horrible. We also were taking my mother's sister and her husband on this cruise but she got terribly ill and could no longer travel. Well people, travel Insurance is giving us a hard time. We hhaveall rhe doctor notes and they are still fighting us. Travel Insurance does not guarantee you anything, even with good reason. Good luck! Read Less

We chose this cruise to leave from NY and not have to deal with airports. The ship was beautiful and clean. The food at every restaurant was excelllent. My luggage was broken in transport to my room. I filed a report and hoped they would replace on the ship so I could transport my personal belongings back home. I contacted Customer Service twice after and received no response. We were supposed to have 3 beach days. The 2nd day was the private Island in the Bahamas. The weather was perfect but they said the tender couldn't go to the island due to wind. We were stuck on an overcrowded ship with over 1,500 kids who were allowed in the adult only pool and hot tub. Everyone complained about people reserving chairs that they didn't even use. On the last day, finally, the staff put stickers on the chair with times so if people didn't come to their chair, they would take the towels off. When you leave from NY, you expect 3 out of the 8 days to be at a beach. We got shortchanged without any compensation. the spa on the ship is beautiful, but very expensive. Read Less

We stayed in the Haven area. We enjoyed our aft facing penthouse. We had a cozy bedroom and an amazing bathroom with windows in the tub and shower area that overlooked the ocean. Wonderful Butler named Chris who took great care of us. We will caution you to check the school schedules if your booking the haven and expecting a quiet retreat. They do have a nice adult deck outside and you will never wait for a drink!! The staff and restaurants were all very nice. We missed our port in great stirrup cay due to unsafe tendering conditions. There was plenty of things to do to fill our week so it was fine. We enjoyed the specialty restaurants. The manhattan room was a spectacular dining room with a mini show. Great service and great food. The entertainment was wonderful. Always something for someone. This ship will not disappoint. Can't wait to sail again soon. Read Less

This was our second time cruising on the Escape. We absolutlely love this ship and it's crew. Everyone goes above and beyond to make sure you are enjoying your cruise. We went during winter break it was interesting it seem Every one had the same idea to arrive early. Embarkation day was crowded but once on board it was amazing. First day was awesome met a lot of nice people. We had an amazing Meet & Greet it was a nice turn out. We met in District Brew House this was the best Meet & Greet we've been to. We got to meet several Senior Officers. The nice thing they had business cards and they said if we needed anything give them a call. I actually became quite friendly with some. Each time they saw us throughout the cruise they'd stop and talk with us. We were not able to go to Great Stir up Cay due to weather conditions. We spent the whole day in the Spa, it was phenomenal. The Spa is definitely a nice oasis. It was never crowded the Thermal Pool was so relaxing. We spent time in the Sauna and the Salt Room. We winded up overnighting in Nassau. We saw the best show at sea The Choir of Man. This show was awesome, get there early the cast invites the audience on stage to talk to them and have a Pint of beer with them. The cast is so talented I love how interactive this show is. After Midnight is a great show too. Our favorite band was the Golden Octaves we could listen to them all night. The cruise staff definitely organized a lot of great games. Spice H2O had great late night parties and the DJ in the Skyline Lounge was great. Our favorite bartenders were Sherman in Skyline Bar. Also Garden Cafe Bar was great. The bar in between Cagney's & Moderno was great too. Deck 8 the District Brew House is a great place to hang out and the 5 O"clock somewhere outside bar was nice to hang out too. Dining: we enjoyed Breakfast in O'sheehans a few times. We also had dinner in O'Sheehans. We had breakfast once in Savor. We had an amazing dinner in Teppanyaki. I am allergic to shellfish so our chef Romel cooked my food first. He took great care of me. We also had dinner in Cagney's which was also great. We had dinner in Moderno you have to ask them to cook your meat a little longer if you're not use to medium rare. We had dinner in Taste restaurant twice and both times we had excellent service eith our waiter Emmanuel. Escape did not disappoint, I loved this cruise and would cruise again on her. Thank You to Senior Officers Deepak and Jose 'Papi for always stopping to talk to us. Thank You chef Romel in Teppanyaki for an amazing experience. Thank You Emmanuel in Taste for your eccellent service. Our cabin steward Eugene was amazing. Thank Escape Crew Read Less

We were on the December 28th 9 day sailing on Escape. Ports included Orlando (overnight), Miami, Great Stirrup Cay and Nassau. This was my 17th NCL cruise. Previous cruises included Star (3x), Breakaway (3x), Jewel (2x), Getaway (2x), Jade, Gem, Epic, Sun, Dawn, and Spirit (reviews all on here). We had the opportunity to sail in the Haven on this cruise. We had sailed previously in the Getaway Haven and the Gem Haven, and had non-haven suites on Jade and Star (2x). I mention this as much of my review is about Haven and the comparisons to these other experiences. Escape Haven was the worst service we’ve had in the Courtyard and Restaurant of any sail. Ports were not the destination of this cruise for us. We wanted the ship and the Haven. We stayed on board all ports except for GSC. All I will say is that GSC was a great day and we highly recommend the Wave Runner tour. All of the reviews about it are true – you can go as fast or as slow as you want and it is all around fantastic and well worth the price! I’ll talk first about entertainment. After Midnight was just so-so for us. I expected to know more of the songs but I didn’t know any. The tap dancing was good, but the rest of it just really wasn’t our cup of tea. We stayed for the entire performance only to be polite. We really enjoyed The Brat Pack, but unless you are intimately familiar with all of the movies, none of the lines or references will make any sense to you. I’ve seen all of the movies except Weird Science probably 20+ times. That said, once was enough for us. We much prefer Rock of Ages on Breakaway to this show. JR on piano in the District Brew House is great. We also enjoyed Chelsea Taylor the one time we saw her. The bulk of our time was spent at Howl at the Moon which was fantastic. Marty was just ok, Ben very good, and Angela is phenomenal. Definitely not to be missed. We heard phenomenal reviews about Choir of Man and regret not springing for this dinner show. Next time for sure! Dining. We ate at Bayamo, LeBistro, Cagneys, Teppanyaki, and LaCucina. All were fantastic, and Bayamo was definitely worth the $12pp upcharge to your dining package. We had a 3 meal package plus our two coupons for being Plat Plus. The service in the specialties was excellent and better than the Haven. So now for the Haven. This was hands down our worst Haven experience in terms of Courtyard and Restaurant service. First, the positives as there were several. First, the room was gorgeous (a forward penthouse suite) and our Butler, Bagus, was great. No issues with service from him despite being outside of the Haven proper. Our Steward was also excellent. The highlight for us was Haven Bartenders Branko and Shah. They were social, entertaining and just all around great guys. Now for the bad. Now here’s the thing. If this was your first ever Haven experience you would probably not have an issue with some of this as you don’t know how good it could (and should) be. After having phenomenal service on our prior Haven & Suite sails, things just fell short. 1. Courtyard Valet. There is only one Valet, and we never saw him before noon. Occasionally servers from the bar area would come around but only did so after we complained to the Concierge that we were having to walk inside to get our own drinks. Again, if you were sitting at the large pool bar this was an improvement in that the bar was never crazy the way the large pool bar is. But you still should not have to go in an get your own drinks, they should be coming around every 15-20 minutes. This was our experience with the Valets on Gem and Getaway. There were always people, including us, that would be in wet bathing suits and robes or towels at the Haven Bar. Not once did we have to go to the Getaway Haven bar for our own drinks while pool side. Gem didn’t have a bar but the Valet was constantly there and our drinks were rarely empty. Also, in the mornings, used coffee cups and such would sit on tables for hours before being cleared as again, there was no valet service. I will note that we saw this most often on Port Days. But even if the majority of Haven guests are off ship, the service should not be diminished (or eliminated?) for those who chose to stay on board. What is shocking is that the Escape Haven is twice the size of Gem Haven yet they both only have one valet? How does that make any sense? Escape Haven is 3 decks, although technically only two would be serviced by the Valet. It is still too much space and too many people for just one Valet. The sheer volume surely contributed to the fact that the towel covers on each lounger were not regularly replaced at each chair. Often these would be wet from prior use by another guest. It was often necessary to place another towel on top to stay dry. 2. Restaurant. Holy cow this was the absolute worst service ever. We are used to the wait staff knowing us pretty much after day 1. Here it was absolutely chaos. On several occasions, we had to wait for a table with a restaurant sitting empty. One morning there was a line of about 5 couples waiting to get in, again, empty tables galore. In what I assume is an attempt to be accommodating, we’d have 3 different waiters come by to ask if anyone had gotten us our drinks or taken our order yet. Why isn’t one waiter assigned to a particular station? This resulted constantly in our table conversation being interrupted and us having to say “someone got it already”. This also removed the personal element that we feel you pay for by being in the Haven. Every morning it would take FOREVER to get our tea, coffee and milk despite this being the same order every single day. On Star, for example, the Maitre’D would see us coming in and would bring our tea and coffee to us within seconds of sitting down, without us even having to ask. We had the same waiters every day and one serving us, not 2 or 3. On Escape, breakfast averaged about an hour, lunch even longer. Very, very slow and others had commented on these same issues. One night, we ordered coffee and tea with dessert. The desserts came out and were long gone before the coffee and tea ever arrived. To make matters worse, the concierge was utterly useless. We voiced our complaints to him on at least 2 occasions, early on. While there were some improvements here and there the only result was for them to send flowers to the room and have even more people come to ask us if anyone had taken our order. Very strange. Getting nowhere with the Concierge, we then phoned his supervisor. We received a call back from Roland, the Assistant Hotel Director, who listened and agreed with us that this was unacceptable for the Haven. He said he would like to meet us and that he’d come by our table personally as he knew what time we’d be at LeBistro that evening. He further said he’d be our “ambassador” for the week and keep in touch with us. Well, Roland never came to meet us at dinner or any other time and we never heard from him again. This was on, I believe, day 4 of the cruise. Roland’s lack of follow thru of any kind was, quite honestly, shocking. We cruise NCL 3 to 4 times per year and enjoy the line and usually have gotten top notch service, particularly when an officer has been involved. This again was such a difference to us after experiencing incredible service from Concierges of the past (Suzanna and Anoop, specifically). We had a standing room service order every night that included pizza, to be delivered around 10pm. We repeatedly asked for the pizza to be well done. It came soggy and undercooked every night, and one time it didn’t come at all. I know our Butler was on top of this because we’d heard him phone it in. But because it comes at 10pm it’s brought by room service, not him or the night butler. One time it didn’t come until 1030 and we happened to be in the room that night and the pizza was already cold. Totally unacceptable. We were fine with it being cold at midnight or whatever time we rolled in as that was to be expected. But at the time of delivery it should be hot. 3. Haven access. On two occasions we saw teenagers in the Haven Courtyard hot tubs that were not part of the Haven. We reported one group and another passenger reported another group. They were removed, but why isn’t this being policed by the Concierges? Another reason to have a Valet to assist with these matters. Relative to the group we had removed, the Assistant Concierge merely came out and told them to leave. She then left the area before making sure they did indeed leave. I feel they should have been formally escorted out or that she should have at least waited until they left. They did ultimately leave but only after another 10 minutes went by. The courtyard was not busy at this time, and these individuals would have had to walk right by the concierge desk. At this point, it was also day 8 of the cruise. Shouldn’t they know by then who does and doesn’t belong? The rest of us passengers certainly did. Then the last night there was also someone at the Haven Bar who was not a Haven guest who had been invited in by a friend. This could have possibly been a dinner companion which I know is allowed with permission and usually payment for dinner so we did not say anything about this. As a suggestion to NCL, they should either do random card checks, have a double access door, or figure out a way to ensure the Haven door closes faster. The one on Escape is very slow. Anyone could easily be as far away as the elevator bank, see someone go in, and follow them in long before the door is even close to closing. The one particular group of teens we saw were loitering outside of this door. We did enjoy this cruise, but would probably not sail in the Haven again on this ship unless a different Concierge was assigned. Read Less

We have been talking about taking a cruise, so we finally did, Our "Honeymoon" finally after 12 and a half years LOL!!! Its was a smooth embarkation process getting into the ship at the NYC Pier, we got lunch at the Garden cafe when we got in since our room was not ready until 130 pm, pretty nice size and comfort in our stateroom, we took a nap and got ready for the night entertainment. We did the magic shows with Ben Nemzer, comedy with Flip Schultz and Spencer James, After Midnite and the Brat pack among the "Broadway" quality shows that we got to enjoy. New Years eve at the H2O, I felt like I was back at Times Square, that was a lot of fun!! We did shore excursions in Orlando, Disney Springs and the Icon 360, in Miami I got to see my brother and a close friend and even got to meet Elvis Crespo, he sings "Suavemente", the only spanish song that my wife will dance with me! Next day we were in Great Stirrup Cay, my wife enjoyed the ocean while I got a nice tan, the following day Nassau Bahamas, we took a ferry to Paradise Island and enjoy a great time at Atlantis casino. There is also plenty to do in the ship, from classes, playing music and movies at the Atrium, plenty to eat, the buffet, Taste, Manhattan, Moderno (my fav!!) O'Sheehan's and boy did I ate! I also walked a lot all over the place from aft to forward and back! The Escape is a gorgeous ship! So many great memories, we are already looking forward to our next cruise, Spain and Italy here we come!!! Read Less

We left out of ny. We took the metro in, then caught a cab from grand central station, around $13. Allow extra time for traffic. Wasn't sure if we had to check our carry on luggage or could have just brought it with us and skipped that part of the line. Took almost 45 minutes just to do that. The staff was exceptional. Friendly and helpful. The food was great. Top notch entertainment and activities. We enjoyed the variety of dining options. We did the glass bottom boat tour in Nassau Bahamas. This was a good value and the guide was funny. A few areas needed improvement. The theater seating was very uncomfortable. The mini golf course was terrible. The embarking process was tedious. Long lines to drop off luggage then long lines to get your key card. We chose early self assist to disembark, and that was fantastic. Overall, it was great for a first cruise. Read Less

1- Unlike other cruise lines, drinking package doesn’t include bottled water and specialty coffee!!!!!! You have to pay extra for those! Unbelievable 2- Not so baby friendly cruise! 1- no baby with diaper is allowed in the pool, even swimming diaper is not permitted 2- the only indoor swimming pool is a 18+ and at extra fee. So family having young baby gets no pool to enjoy at all!!! 3- daycare service is very restrict with specific time slot. It’s like we have to move our schedule around the nursery time. 3- Slow elevators and it stops at every floor regardless if someone push the bottom or not. 4- Slow and sometime no so friendly service at the restaurant. The reservation system is bad too. You can only reserve when the restaurant is closed, once it’s open, it’s a first come first serve base. 5- smoking is allowed in the casino! The smell is crazy even in the area close to the casino!!! They should have a closed room just for the smokers! 6- you need to reserve in advance for parasol or clamshell for their private island. You can’t rent them on the spot. Terrible experience! Overall, not impressed! Do not recommend!!! Read Less
