Norwegian was highly recommended by friends. The ship was great, the company of Norwegian, not great. They schedule a cruise to dock and spend full day in Bermuda on Sunday when the country is closed! We wer unable to see many of the local attractions because the stores/restaurants were closed and buses ended service early. To keep from being stranded we had to be back to the boat by 5pm. NEVER cruise to Bermuda in November, Seas were so rocky we were sick the whole time. Staff and other passengers stated it was one of the worst cruises they had ever been on. Poor planning by NCL all around!!!!! The ship itself was wonderful, but due to the bad weather we were unable to fully experience the outdoor activities. Too much rain and wind, the deck was blocked off most of the cruise. No monitoring on the adult club, teens were there in the hot tub and the water cave. Adults were unable to use either because of the teens. Our rear aft handicapped cabin was wonderful! spacious. The restaurants we were able to visit were wonderful. Food was good, drinks were good. Entertainment was great! We saw Choir of Men and it was a FANTASTIC show! Getting on the ship was smooth and so was getting off the ship. NCL did evertthing possible to to make the experience as smooth as possible. Service was excellent! The staff was amazing, all were very helpful the entire cruise! Read Less

This was our first cruise and not our last. We were interested in this cruise because the timing was just right for our schedules. Unfortunately the weather didn’t cooperate. It was stormy and the ship was tossing a lot through most of the cruise. Especially towards the end. That didn’t keep people out of the hot tub’s however. And I was able to swim three of the days on the boat. I just had to swim in the rain. We are a little bit food snobbish, not because we like to play food critics but because we get the opportunity to eat great food around the world. We found the Cagneys and LeBistro specialty restaurants were not up to our expectations,Teppanyaki, while a bit loud has excellent food and service unlike the other two restaurants we tried. It’s not that the other two restaurants were particularly bad but the food was kind of middle of the road. We felt that we could’ve gotten an equally decent/satisfying meal to Cagneys or LeBistro up at the Garden Cafe buffet or the complementary dining options. We were also made a little sick and our clothes practically ruined for the rest of the cruise by cigarette smoke residue gotten by sitting in the casino for more than three hours. The smoke was terrible. Apparently the Escape does not have adequate filtration or separate sections for smokers. If you have asthma or any other kind of lung problems you probably wanna avoid that partnership. It really cut back on the amount of gambling we wanted to do. That all said the crew were lovely and even though it was very cold they work hard to make sure that everyone was happy. What would’ve excited me is to see more crafting or classes on the boat. We took a painting class which was always over subscribed. I think they need to do more things like that. The origami was also very popular. If we could do some other kind of project like make your own boxes? Or something else like make your own jewelry? That would be fantastic. Even though there was a lot of things going on the ship at all times we really didn’t feel like we had a great choice of things to do. Maybe because we’re looking for things that we could do hands-on and a lot of it was participatory or passive. So Norwegian, think about more hands-on stuff. We’ve already booked another cruise in June. By the way I had to use a scooter because of a problem with my legs. Everyone was very helpful to me and if you’re disabled you’ll find everything on the boat very helpful to you. Read Less

The main thing I find with the Escape is that almost all of the cruise staff activities are held in the atrium which means there is never a seat. I think people arrive early morning and keep saving seats all throughout the day. I have found with the smaller ships with more lounges it is easier to join in the fun. We took the Glass Bottom Boat excursion thru Norwegian. They made a lady get out of her wheel chair atop the ramp to go to the boat the guy running the excursion told her they were on a schedule (meaning get moving) . This was people in front of us in line, I was not impressed with the way he (Kevin) handled this. When we got back her chair was right at the boat on the dock. The crew is wonderful Jacky (entertainment), Kivanc (General Manager) what an ambassador for the ship, Danielle (Guest Services), Crystile (solo Hostess), Wilson (waiter in supper club),The boys that helped with the wheel chairs : Leny, Komang, Wilson. You are all wonderful and I forgot to turn my hero cards in It all made a cruise to remember. To finish it all off we travelled with Yankee Trails Bus which left us standing on the pier for 2 hours then having to walk all the way down the Pier to the Disney Magic to catch our bus. Read Less

I was on the Norwegian Escape Oct 13, 2019. We were in an Family Oceanview 5754. I have sailed on Norwegian over ten times, on this sailing the vibe just seemed off. Nothing major went wrong (except cabin issues, read below) but I thought the crew and service was not as great as others. There were a few different and added features on the Escape. I thought the shows were great. I loved Choir of a Man and After Midnight. Choir of a Man was interactive and they gave away free beer. The buffet was good with some added items that I haven't seen on other ships. They has a ramen soup bar which we loved. The dinner shows were great and a nice change of pace. On these bigger ships you must reserve entertainment and dinning in advance if you can. I recommend if your just starting out cruising to try a smaller ship first. My first cruise was on the Norwegian Dawn and it got my hooked !!! Read Less

I love cruising, and when planning another group trip, going with Norweigen was a no brainer. You get the biggest bang for your buck! I was going with a large group of 21 with mixed ages from 16 to 83 and wheelchair bound. I have to say I was getting a little worried when I started reading recent reviews, but then I reminded myself to be open minded. I am a true believer that every vacation is what you make it! The embarkation was so easy and very efficient, this time they split the embarkation/ check in into two groups depending on cabin floor, which created shorter lines to get room key and then to get onto the ship. Ship: The ship was beautiful, with some areas that maybe can use some retouching, but thats to be expected with the amount of passengers that come through weekly. But I found it easy to navigate and plenty of signs to guide passengers. Don't get me wrong, it's a huge ship, so sometimes it gets confusing, but there is a diagram by the elevators that show each floor, especially for the dining rooms and bars. Cabin: Cabin was a balcony cabin midship, level 11. Loved my cabin it was clean and as roomy as you can expect for a ship cabin, you walk in the bathroom is right there, then the bed with a closet next to it, and then couch before the balcony door, on opposite side was a small vanity with small shelves, the mini bar and TV on wall. The closet has decent space for clothing, and what I did was use my suitcase as a draw and slid under bed. Our room steward Veeraj was awesome and very attentive. Dining: So, I was a little worried here because of all the reviews/ complaints about reservations and such. I am not sure what people complain about because I had NO trouble with obtaining reservations at ANY of the dining rooms. I made 3 reservations prior to boarding the ship, but the rest were made once on ship, and they never gave us an issue, and that is with a large party! Every restaurant was accommodating, my recommendation is that if you like to eat during prime time 7-730 make reservations early on, Personally I like eating early and the 5-545 reservations were perfect. The staff at all the restaurants were on point. Polite, and went out of their way to make our meals perfect. Moderno- Great salad bar and the meats were great quality, and not heavy on salt. the cheesy bread is amazing La Cucina - Way too much food,( I had meal plan, included 5 courses) the pizza is great to share with a few people. The pasta carbonara was divine. Cagneys- What can I say , my favorite meal, I had the surf and turf, and the filet was cooked perfectly. The apple crisp for desert was my favorite Taste/ Savor- ate at both restaurants and the food was good, smaller portions but filing. The deserts there were not my favorites. O'sheehans- So we decided to skip the buffet this trip and the majority of my group ate breakfast here every morning, The staff was exceptional, especially the maitre'D , Leandra. She went out of her way to make us feel welcome and personally greeted us every morning. The younger adults in my group also raved about the late night snacks/ wings/ and . ice cream served there Margaritaville: Food was excellent and the charge was cheapt at $15 pp. The Nachos are delish. My one complaint about the dining, is I wish the specialty Restaurants were open for lunch, but thats a personal opinion. Bars: I love my drinks, and I had many over the course of the week, all of them were tasty and well made, I will say that the bar staff does seem overwhelmed, and could use some more help, especially the first couple of days, maybe even having more servers around the pool for drinks would alleviate the mob around the bars. A few times I would have bartenders who were borderline snotty, but most of them were fantastic. My favorite drinks are the painkiller, mudslide, Bahama mama, margaritas. I did try a few drinks from margaritaville, I cant recall the name of them. Pools Okay, big downside here, there are 2 small pools one for adults/ one for kids. the adult pool was very packed, which it were bigger, especially with size of ship! Thermal spa My husband and I purchased the spa package, unfortunately the first time we tried to use it people were reserving the heated loungers while they were not there, this was very annoying! I did get to enjoy it once or twice, and the thermal pool was wonderful. Don't think I would spend the $200 again, unless it was a winter cruise. PS. Do Not Recommend this for handicapped people. My in laws tried to use it, as they are both wheel chair bound, and it was challanging for them because of the height of the loung chairs, and the tiles were very slippery, they did not feel safe moving in the room, thankfully NCL refunded them since they couldn't use it . Entertainment: The choir of men show was great, the comedians also were a hit, howl at the moon, the piano dueling was also fun. The after midnight show was horrible in my opinion, while the performers were definitely talented, there was no storyline, I wasn't a fan, but a few people in my group did enjoy that. There ware some fun events throughout the week that were fun and many passengers participated in, the theme night parties in H20 were great , although they got packed out quick. Service: Overall the service was great, we went to customer service about a small mistake and they were very sweet, and made every effort to get to the bottom of it. Never had long wait there. We also dealt with the Cruise Next staff, and they also were fantastic with the questions I had. Highly recommend purchasing this if you plan to cruise in next few years. this is my second time using the cruise next vouchers. The elevators are a bit slow, I prefer the stairs,,but with wheelchair family, we had to rely on them. Pictures: Tons of opportunity for pictures, I just hated picking a few. I wish they would offer all the pictures digitally for one price! Just my opinion. Port: Went to Bermuda, was beautiful as always. This is my third trip there. People in my party went to horseshoe bay/ tobacco bay and said the beaches were wonderful, with a ton of fish swimming alongside. There is a wave-runner vendor right outside the ship that a few of us went on, and it was a blast. the shops around the dockyard are also cute , overall Bermuda is pricey when it comes to shopping. There are ferries cheap ($5) to take to Hamilton or St.George for more shopping. I preferred to hang on the ship for 2/3 days at port, which was lovely because the pool was basically empty! and plenty of lounge chairs available. Disembarkation- WOW is all I can say, last time I was on the ship with a group was 3 years ago and it was a complete hot mess with disembarkation. I was so nervous, but the system they set up to get the passengers off the boat in a safe manner without tons of lines is incredible. We were off an hour earlier than we thought, and our luggage retrieval went off without a hitch, and even customs was a breeze, I was completely shocked! Way to go NCL, obviously they listened to the complaints from the past cruisers! Overall I am so happy with the entire trip, we had a blast, and we are already booked on another cruise, the Encore 01/2021! Cant wait! For the future Escape Cruisers keep an open mind and you will have fun. If you have questions feel free to ask me Hscally1088@yahoo.com Read Less

We have cruised on Norwegian Breakaway two years ago, also out of NYC. The ship is almost exactly same layout and same size, but on Escape was much more people. It’s to crowd. We went on this cruise with 6 people. In our opinion, the pool aria is way to small for the size of the ship. We were not happy to get up early in the morning just to be able to save six seats together. About embarkation processes: We are PA residents and we are never experienced so many rude people. They were screaming, cutting of lines, pushing, and embarkation staff was NOT care at all. Regarding the ship staff: Extremely hard workers, it’s obvious. The shows were an outstanding, spectacular. Choir of man is an excellent performance. These guys are hugely talented. “After Midnight” show is also extremely good. The dancing, the singing, the band were amazing. Overall, we had a good experience on this cruse, but NOT grate. Bigger ship it is not always better. It just means more people on board. Read Less

My spouse and I took this exact same cruise at the exact same time last year and it was, hands down, the best cruise we'd ever taken. When we booked this cruise earlier in the year, we were very excited at the thought of matching last year's cruise. Sadly, there was a stark difference in the two cruises and we were left with a feeling of disappointment in some areas. In others, this ship shined. For transparency, we tend to sail in the Haven. This year was no exception. Not because we are rich. We are far from it. But I am disabled and have health challenges. For that reason, we budget every year to insure that we are able to travel in a way that's most comfortable for me...and in a way that allows me to get the best experience possible out of our travel. We are not "snooty," nor are we "entitled." However, when you pay a premium, you do expect that "premium" to be delivered. About 3 weeks prior to our cruise, I emailed the pre-cruise concierge, as directed, for any requests that may make our cruise more enjoyable. In that email, I explained that due to severe allergies, we are not able to have fresh flowers in our room, nor are we able to have any kind of feather bedding as they cause significant allergic reactions. I received an email response assuring me that this request would be handled prior to embarkation. Embarkation was close to flawless and we were told our room was ready as soon as we boarded. We were staying in a Haven Spa Suite and it was nice. However, when we walked in, we noticed a vase of wilted and dying flowers....obviously left over from the prior cruise. Not a huge deal...we figured we'd give it to our room steward when we met him. The ice bucket had lukewarm melted water in it....presumedly from the prior cruise that ended earlier that day. There was only one towel, and one bathrobe. There was no bottle of champagne on ice as we were told there would be...and as there was last year. Individually, not a huge deal...but adding it up, it was a little disappointing. Shortly thereafter, our room steward arrived and we spoke with him about the flowers, etc. He apologized for the oversights, said he'd fix them by the time we returned from lunch and assured us that the room was feather free. That was the big part for us, so we were grateful. After the first night, my spouse woke up with a pretty intense allergy attack. Since the vents were on the ceiling, we figured it was the air ducts and the air circulation. We were assured that the room was de-feathered, so we didn't think that was the problem. For the next 5 nights, our allergies were pretty intense. We were living on allergy medicine and continued to chalk it up to the air conditioning. By day 6, I was beyond miserable. At that point, I took a closer look at the pillows. All but one were exactly what we needed. The last one, all feather. We called our room steward to ask him to please change it, but he was unavailable. So we called our butler.....who, up until that time, we had seen, maybe 3 times the entire cruise...who informed us that our room steward was on break and would handle when he came back during the nightly turndown. We called about it just after noon. After explaining that the allergic response was making us pretty miserable, he did send someone in his place to change out the bedding. We vacated the room so that could happen. Our allergies never cleared up and we realized on the morning that we left, that while there was no feather bedding ON the bed, they had stored all the feather bedding UNDER the bed. It was pretty awful. Adding to that frustration, we had to ask almost daily for fresh ice...and the only thing we asked of our butler was to have cookies in the evening. He promised cookies every night. They came once. We didn't ask anything else of him....we didn't order room service....we did not dine in our room...he was pretty much non-existent. He did, however, show up on the morning of debarkation to collect his tip. Again, I need to stress....we are NOT snooty. We weren't asking for outlandish things. We asked for next to nothing. But we paid a premium for a certain service and that service didn't deliver. It was even more disappointing because we do work so hard to afford that level of service. For it not to be there, cast a bit of a shadow on our week. Especially with the allergy/feather situation. The rest of the cruise was AMAZING!! We loved Cagney's and Moderno. We also enjoyed Food Republic. It's a different concept but enjoyable nonetheless. The only exception was Bayamo. We didn't enjoy Bayamo as much as we'd hoped and probably wouldn't return. The Garden Cafe was perfect for what we needed it for, and we enjoyed dining at Taste one night as well. As for the entertainment.....for the second year, Choir of Man was absolutely incredible!! We also saw Melinda Doolittle's solo show in the Supper Club....and that was one of the most enjoyable evenings of our cruise. She was very warm, engaging, and very friendly. It was a very cool thing to be able to talk with her a bit after her show as well. I was really pulling for her when she was on American Idol, so it really was a thrill to see her perform. We didn't see any other shows as it was an early night most nights for us. We met some really great people through the meet and greet/slot pull/cabin crawl. We had a great time with them. Blackjack was very kind to us, but we seemed to give our winnings back to the slot machines!!! We loved karaoke nights as well. The pools were crowded as they normally are....but the slides seemed to be popular. We did not use the Haven pool area, but we did use the sundeck in the Haven once or twice and that was pretty relaxing. The Haven restaurant was also very good. Bermuda was beautiful as always. We took the free ferry over to St. Georges and headed to Tobacco Bay. That was a beautiful area. We seemed to luck out as we heard that Horseshoe Bay was filled with Portuguese Man-O-War which made it difficult to swim. In fact, someone from our Cruise Critic group was stung and from what we heard, had to be treated at the hospital. I'm not sure we'll do this itinerary again. We love cruising out of NY because we are local and flying is challenging for me. But I think we'll try something elsewhere next year. We are firm believers in vacations being exactly what you make them to be...and in that sense, we had a magical week onboard the Escape. But the service...or lack thereof...did make things challenging for us most of the time. And that part, was probably the most disappointing aspect of our cruise. Will be sail NCL again? Absolutely. Will we sail the Escape again? Probably not. Read Less

I’m careful with my reviews because I read them carefully prior to booking and my hope is always the same, people that write point out the good as well as the bad. We have been in 17 cruises, with 5 different cruise lines. Nine of these cruises have been in a Norwegian ship. The various cruises were on Norwegian, carnival, Princess, Celebrity, Royal Caribbean ships. The truth be told although most would think the same quality from ship to ship, and my guess possibly what the cruise line strives for, it’s just not the case. This review is regarding Norwegian cruises, specifically the Escape. As you will see I rated it excellent and do so with sincerity. We have taken cruises on the following Norwegian cruise ships, Escape, Breakaway, Dawn, Gem, Epic, and Pearl. There are and will always be a few hiccups so to speak on any vacation regardless of how taken. It’s not so much that a problem develops, what’s of more importance is how any issues are handled. The staff, Chiefs and management aboard the Escape far exceed that of all the other Norwegian ships we have been on. My wife as well as I have a variety of medical issues, all of which have the potential of ruined vacation if care is not taken by staff to assure cleanliness in the room of dust, sanitation throughout the ship to assure colds and illness isn’t spread but my wife having a major Gluten allergy Chiefs and waiter staff assuring foods are prepared and handled avoiding any chance of cross contamination. Entering the Escape a food service manager is assigned to any and all vacationers to assure food is handed in strick compliance. Regardless of so many areas of a ship to eat, anytime a key card is swiped in a food area, that supervisor somehow responds to the area to assure no mistakes are made. Although I’m sure many that cruise are aware this is done on other ships as well as other Norwegian lines... None are as careful as those on the Escape. In fairness, any ship can be just lucky or have a bad day. But with 5 cruises now on the Escape, each cruise on this ship has actually improved and a few supervisors as well as managers have kinda got to recognize us. Chiefs and food service staff routinely add to our experience by sending gluten free items/treats to the room for my wife to enjoy. Only drawback we have found on Norwegian is entertainment. Because we cruise so often on this cruise line, there is a bit of redundancy on shows. For example, although a great show, the magician dinner show has been running for over s year on this same ship. This being said for those similar to us that cruise often and enjoy a particular ship, we lose out on entertainment because after seeing several times it gets old. So my suggestion to Norwegian staff is IF they are going to keep a show or act for any extended period of time, that show should be updated with new material. For a magician I would think this would be easy to do, why it’s not done beats me. I would think after a year doing exactly the same thing would get old on the magician as well. Same goes with the Newly or not so newly wed show. How hard would it be to change up the questions asking guests called up to participate? I realize this is being a little critical of a ship I’m rating 5 stars, but Hope is someone in management looks over this review as well and possibly consider what I’m saying as a easy way to make trips even more enjoyable for others like us that cruise 3-5 times a year and are regulars on their ships. We enjoyed this cruise very much. Food, service, cleanliness, almost everything was perfect. This is our 5th cruisse, 4th on NCL, and 2nd on the Escape. We had a spa mini suite this trip. The room was very nice, but no larger than a regular balcony room. The bathroom is bigger with a much larger shower. That was very nice. Having a spa room gave us access to the Thermal Suite. The only bad thing was that we didn't get a spa pass on a previous cruise. It was AMAZING!! We ate as a group of 6 and again as a group of 15 in the Manhattan Room. Both times the food and service was top notch. Food Republic was great and worth paying the extra money, especially if you enjoy sushi as much as we do. Pinchos was amazing! We love the small plat2es concept and the food is always spectacular. Bayamo was great too! We paid the upcharge for the lobster and the surf and turf. Evreything was cooked to perfection. Le Bistro is our favorite restaurant fleetwide, and as usual it did not disappoint. The food and service here is always impeccable. O'Sheehans was eh. Not great, not bad. We ate breakfast and lunch in Taste and Savor a few times, and for the most part everything was good. We spent a majority of our time at Spice H2O. It's nice to have a place to go where kids are not allowed. Especially when you travel on a school vacation week. Service was great! District Brew House is also a great place to go with no kids! Service at every bar or restaurant we stopped at was great! Now for the bad parts. Disembarkation was a nightmare!!! Very little organization, hard to find crew to assist us with my cousins husband who was in a wheelchair, and basically rude and obnoxious passengers made it a stressful end to our vacation! And the other bad part was OTHER PASSENGERS and their UNATTENDED KIDS! What is wrong with people now a days???? Does noone know manners???? Do people not understand that you let the people off of the elevator off, especially those in a wheelchair, off before you get on?? Why is it acceptable to let your young children run amuck while you are nowhere to be found? I understand that this is not NCLs fault, but if you are reading this, please try to be nice to others. You are not the only one on vacation. The world doesn't revolve around you or your children. Show some humanity and don't act like animals. Read Less

I chose Norwegian just to try something different, as i have been a Royal Caribbean cruiser. I was told from a friend of mine that she loves Norwegian, so my husband & i decided to try a different cruise line. We usually travel in September, However we traveled this year for our anniversary in April & was very overwhelmed with the amount of children on board. We did not realize that it was spring break. Kids will be kids but it made our cruise miserable as they have no respect for the handicapped. The food in the Garden Cafe was never hot enough, You did not sell Newport menthol on your ship. There are not enough elevators to accommodate the passengers on board. I really was very dissatisfied with the amount of staff that you employ that do NOT speak English although very polite, just cant understand. My stateroom steward Kiran was an absolute Blessing as he was very attentive to my Husband & i truly appreciated that. Read Less

Our Bermuda trip was sadly detoured because of hurricane Florence. We were OK with going to Bahamas, but at the last minute, we didn't stop there. It was upsetting that we didn't get any credits for missing ports. My friend on Carnival received a $50 credit for a port she missed on her cruise last month. Restaurants - -The new tapas bar Pincho was my favorite hidden gem. The menu is exceptional, so I didn't understand why it was always empty. I think many of the cruisers don't understand the tapas concept, but I hope they don't close it. The restaurant closed early at 10pm. As a tapas restaurant, it should be open much later! The best things on the menu were the scallops, shrimp, tomato bread, grilled sirloin, and salmon. The sangria was amazing too. -Bayamo, the new seafood restaurant was a big disappointment. The servers werent properly trained and we were often without silverware and empty glasses. The huge crab legs for $8 were a steal and delicious. The oyster rockfellers were very disappointing. The thermal spa was a peaceful sanctuary away from the ship chaos. I do not regret getting the a spa room. The mini golf is a bit dated and wish they would upgrade it. The breakfast at the buffet it the best. The buffet lunch was very bland and everything was very salty. I wish there was more healthy food at the free restaurants. Everything seem very salty and cream heavy. The music was fantastic all over the ship. My favorite was Orly who played Santana hits in the atrium. There was a great columbian duo in the Manhattan room. I liked how they dont rush you through the manhattan room and you can linger as long as you like. The comedy shows were all sold out immediately and the standby lines started over an hour before the show. I wish they would put a better system in place so people dont waste so much time standing around. It seems like NCL is moving to an entirely a la carte model as more dining and entertainment come with a fee. Read Less

We went on this ship for a family wedding. When the ship was diverted because of the weather the Customer Service Rep refused to help in any way. No wedding for the Bride and Groom or the 21 people they brought on the boat with them! Exteamly poor customer relations. The ship is also very poor handicap accessible. They charge a lot for a handicap room and the bathrooms throughout the ship designated for handicapped were always locked. The regular rooms doorways were too small to fit a small walker through and the narrow hallways to the rooms constantly had the housekeeping staffs carts blocking access. We were very disappointed in the way the ship handled the reroute, there were many possibilities to give their passengers a worthwhile trip instead of just floating on the water with no possibility of any port visits. The one stop the ship did make I was unable to get off the ship die to my handicap so I was stuck on the ship for 7 days. Read Less

It was my first time in a cruise, and I love it. The rooms are great, all the restaurants have excellent service and delicious food. Great for families, couples and singles. We were a big group and we enjoyed every minute in it. The staff is great. We left from NYC and embarkation and disembarkation was easy. I read many reviews before I left and I do not understand why some people were disappointed. We danced every night in all different clubs, the drinks in our packet were included and they were excellent. I did not pay a cent during the whole week, they gave us $100 credit and I did not use the whole amount. Bermuda is beautiful and it is very easy to go in and out of the ship. Specialty restaurants are great, but the restaurants included are very good too. I will definitely be back on a Norwegian Cruise again. I have cruised 15 times prior to this cruise on 3 other lines so I have lots to compare my experience to. There are only a couple of areas that I thought were better than past cruises. PROS: * Selection of food at the Garden Café buffet. They have all types of hot, cold, international, grilled, soups, salads, sandwiches, etc. The staff there was also exceptional where they will bring you beverages or help carry your plate to your table. * Our O/V family stateroom had double sinks and a tub! (See more below in my cabin review) * Howl at the Moon piano bar was fantastic. * Bermuda, although very expensive, was absolutely gorgeous and would go back! * Heritage Wharf, where we docked, is a great little area if you want to some light shopping, eat and drink outside the ship without taking a cab. There's even a free trolley that makes stops along the way if you have difficulty walking. Also, Snorkel Park is a man made beach about a 5-7 min walk from the ship where they have chair and watersports rentals, food and drinks for $5 admission. The only bad thing is that it is VERY rocky to go in and out of the water, BRING WATER SHOES!! CONS: (This may take a while) 1) The embarkation process could have been so much faster had NCL had you set up your onboard account online. 2) Big issue with wine I put in my luggage. NCL policy on the site reads as follows "Guests may bring bottles of wine and champagne on board. When bottles are brought on board and served or consumed in any restaurant, public room area or in their stateroom, a corkage fee will be charged according to bottle sizes" When I opened my luggage I was greeted with a paper saying I violated the policy and my bottle was confiscated and will not be returned until I pay the fee or they will hold it until the end of the trip. WHAT VIOLATION??? You said I could bring it on board!!!! I spoke with management and they apologized and opened it free of charge. 3) No straws on board. In an effort to clean up the environment, NCL has stopped using plastic straws. This is a great thing but there should be a metal or paper replacement for those with medical conditions who need them and at least wooden stirrers to stir the drinks. 4) WiFi is horrific! My roommate got the Social Media package and paid $88 for a week of almost unusable service. 5) If you are not near the pool area, no one will come around to take a drink order. I was a deck over and a bit forward from the main pool for about 3 hours and not one person came by. 6) There is only 1 main pool which is about the size of my neighbor's pool. Try fitting 4,000 ppl around there. Aside from that, kids take over that pool and the hot tubs when they have their own water park and same size pool. 7) The design of the ship is absolutely horrible and it’s too just too big yet it was designed for a lot less people. a)There are only elevators at the front and back of the ship. I went with someone who uses a cane and has trouble walking a lot or using stairs. When she had to go from the middle of the ship on one deck to the middle on another deck, she would have to walk back to one of the elevator banks and walk back across. b) The buffet is set up only in the back of the ship whereas other ships have buffets spread out across the middle and back so you don't have to walk a mile for food and drinks. c) There is only 1 towel stand to get your pool towels from. d) THE JOGGING TRACK! My biggest pet peeve. How do you have a track going around a regular deck, just over the main pool, where there are lounge chairs, a restaurant, bar and even service bins being moved??!!! To avoid this I got up at 5:30AM only to find they had just hosed it down making it impossible to run without slipping because it's just a wooden deck (not a rubber track) UNREAL!!! e) The sliding doors do not open automatically, you had to tap a button on the door or wall. If you were carrying drinks or food, it was very inconvenient. f) We were lucky enough to have a cabin on the same deck as the kids clubs. They were running around top speed at all hours and even chose to start knocking the cabin doors at midnight. When we opened the door and yelled at them, they called the cabin and hung up. WHY WOULD YOU PUT KIDS ACTIVITIES ON THE SAME DECK AS CABINS???!!!! 8) They nickel and dime you for everything!! a) Subpar food in all dining rooms and service, while pleasant is EXTREMELY SLOOOOOOW! Breakfast, in less than half empty dining room, took more than 30 mins on 3 occasions; Waited 25 mins for drinks one night that came after the meal was served and on the last sea day I went to Food Republic for lunch to go as soon as they opened and ordered 3 items on the same ticket yet each one was brought to me 10 mins apart and they somehow seemed very confused. However, when we chose to pony up to go the a la carte Italian restaurant, the food was very good but the portions were on the small side. EX. My friend ordered the gnocchi app ($8) and there were 5, yes FIVE, regular sized gnocchi on the plate. I got the entree sized portion Linguini Cioppino ($15) and was rewarded with 1 clam, 1 mussel, and cut up pieces of shrimp and fish and about 4 forkfuls of pasta. b) Want to go to a show on board? You can catch a free one at 12:30PM or 6PM. Oh, what's that? You're out exploring the island, poolside or having dinner? No worries, you can pay us $20 to come at 9PM. c) Rip off shore excursions. $45 for a 4 hour trip to the popular beach about 30 mins away. No thanks, I went outside to the government regulated mini buses (Prices are posted and they cannot rip you off) and paid $7 each way and stayed the entire day. Bermuda island tour $109 PER PERSON for 5 hours through NCL...went the next day to the same stand and got a 6 hour tour for $60. BOOM! 9) The freestyle thing is not for us. We like going to the same dining room (with the exception of maybe another special meal), at the same time and having the same waiters that know your name and preferences. I like getting dressed up for dinner and going for "a night out" and I just didn't feel it on this ship. I've heard this is pretty much the way they operate all their ships so needless to say, we will not be back on NCL. Despite the mixed reviews, we gave it shot and were highly disappointed. Read Less

First time on this ship. Been on Breakway several times. This ship is bigger and better. Only thing better on the Breakaway is Fat Cats. Big mistake IMHO. The 5 o’clock somewhere lounge that replaces is wasted on Karaoke. Wandered in a couple of evenings and found the place practically empty. Bring back live entertainment if you want to sell drinks in that place. The Skyline lounge is so much better than the Bliss Disco. MDR food was good. Not enough vegetarian selections in the specialty restaurants which was disappointing for my wife. Le Bistro had only one entrée and one appetizer that were vegetarian and both were tasteless. NCL needs to step up the number of specialty restaurant selections and the quality to make it significantly better than the MDR. Otherwise, why go? Looking forward to going on the bliss next year to Alaska. It appears to be even better then the Escape Read Less

Our family took this cruse to celebrate our parents 50th wedding anniversary. Our party was a total of 8 people. It was great quality family time, we ate together every night, the services and crew were so friendly and helpful. The specialty dining was outstanding, but the buffet was just as goo. We attended two shows and the quality of the production exceeded our anticipation. The pool deck had plenty of room, chairs and friendly faces. We loved Spice h20 and the Grotto Once docked in Bermuda the access to the ferries was great only a few hundred yards from the ship. This was our first Norwegian cruse (my wife and myself) and we will be taking another. I will recommend to friends and family for the quality of the food, staff, entertainment & experience. Our cabin attendant Jose went above in beyond to ensure we had everything we needed. Sincerely, Henry Read Less

Sailed out of NYC on the Escape to Bermuda on May 27, 2018. Check in and boarding was the smoothest of any cruise I have taken. Sailing was good, a very few minor moments of ship movement from the weather as a result of weather on the way to Bermuda but none after that. The weather was a minor issue the first day in Bermuda as it rained off an on for the first ½ of the day. After that it was fine. On the ship the spa is always a big plus for me but with the hot tub and stone recliners not being much past slightly warm, it was a bit of a let down. Still enjoyed it though. Food was excellent EXCEPT the steak and service in la Cucina. The steak there was extremely tough and quite overcooked. The server failed to bring a requested soft drink even after several requests. Cagney's rocked. Taste and Savor were great for breakfast! The Ocean Blue menu at Bayamo was very tasty but not quite as good as it was on the Getaway. Moderno, Le Bistro, and O'Sheehan's weer all very good as well. I love those Thai chili wings! Lastly I use a wheeled walked to get around. I never had a single issue with being able to get where I wanted to go! We had four in an angled balcony cabin and we all did well. I did miss not having a light on the balcony though. The crew was amazing as usual. Just look like you need help and someone is there to take care of you. We had a lot of fun in Bermuda. Crystal Caves was a nice tour. Jumping into the cave pools from the 'cliff' walls at blue hole was a lot of fun. Snorkeling at Church beach was some of the best snorkeling we have ever done and swimming at Horseshoe Bay beach is a must do thing for everyone. It was our first ever trip to Bermuda. We plan to do it again and hopefully have a bit warmer and less windy conditions. Thanks NCL for another great cruise vacation! Read Less

We went on a family cruise to Bermuda aboard the Norwiegen Escape and it was better than I could have dreamed. Being handicapped and in a wheelchair I was a little nervous about going but everything turned out great...we stayed in a section called "The Haven" and it was exactly that...the room that I had was spacious enough for me and my chair and the entire staff were superb, especialy Jefferson our butler who could never do enough for us..the memories will stay with me Forever. The restaurant was very good and served Breakfast, lunch and dinner..the head chef was very accommidating as four in our family are Vegan, so they went out of their way to prepare special dishes.Relaxing at the lounge was nice, they had a very nice selection of liquor and pretty much could make any drink you like. The bartenders were all very nice and good at what they do. Read Less

We loved everything , my husband and I are both handicapped and everything was accessible. There was lots to do or not do. We love sitting on deck 8 and reading. Restaurant s were great . I loved that cruise and can’t wait to do it again. My husband is deaf and the movies had captions on . We also saw a broadway type play . We also rented a scooter for him and he was able to take it off the boat into Bermuda . We were able to ring my daughter and son in law with us , we just paid the tax for them . The room was small but we managed fine. It was nice to get coffee and muffins delivered for free . I also would bring a wide mouth water bottle next time to refill at the buffet. I would do this again in a New York minute Read Less

Friends of ours planned the trip and invited us. The operation of the ship was amazing as is the organization and planning of all departments. Everything was squeaky clean. Our balcony room was efficient. For the most part the food was exceptional. for breakfast we ate at the buffet and on board dining. . 2 of my favorite upscale meals were Cagney's and Le Bistro. At Cagney's the sea bass was so good as was the fillet at Le Bistro. The buffet had a good variety of well prepared delicious food. The buffet was congested at peak dining times. i really enjoyed the fresh fruit and salads..The service onboard was excellent especially Marion at the pool bar. who had an amazing ability to remember names. Her timing with drinks was remarkable. I was amazed at how smoothly embarkation and disembarkation went. Unfortunately we only saw one show which was good.i denfinetly would go again! Read Less
