We had the most EPIC vacation on the Norwegian Epic (pun totally intended). The ship had a great layout, the service was great and we really, really loved the food. The Chinese restaurant was the biggest surprise. This restaurant, along with the buffet, Irish bar and two main dining rooms, are included in the price of the cruise. The noodle bar that is part of the Chinese restaurant was great!! We ate there every other night. My six year old also loved the child care. The theming was amazing! He attended the pirate, spy and outer space nights and loved them. He even cried when we tried to pick him up early...he was having too much fun with all of his new friends. My only advice for next time would be to book specialty dining early. We enjoyed the Cirque show but would have loved to dine at the Japanese restaurant. It was booked completely. Also, if you are going to the private island, make sure you make a reservation for the tender to the island. We could have had an extra hour or two of island time if we had figured that out sooner. Don’t feel like this was clearly publicized. Overall we will book Norwegian again!! Read Less

This was a great cruise with plenty of activities for the days at sea or if you do not go ashore. The cruise director and his staff always have thing to do. The rooms are clean and well maintained if average in size. It is big enough to offer numerous activities but small enough to feel like full service. We went over the spring break period and were not overwhelmed by children. The embarkation and disembarkation does not make you wait forever like some of the cruise lines if you are not platinum level or above. The fitness area has plenty of newer equipment. The bar staff makes every effort to remember your name and what you are drinking. For the best Bloody Mary on the high seas see Javier in the Atrium Bar. Cagneys Steak House was an excellent dining experience. Don miss it. The entertainment was very good. The cruise entertainment director personally made appearance at most activities. Read Less

We flew into Orlando on Friday night and got to our hotel with no issues. The next morning, we headed back to the airport to catch the shuttle we booked, Smart-two. Melanie arrived to pick us up in a very nice van with free wifi and bottled water. The drive was great and seamless. We arrived at port and embarkation went smoothly. We were on the boat by noon. We packed our suits in our carry-on bag, so we could get started in the sunshine. The service was great all week. We planned to tip our servers in addition to the service charge we had paid on the UBP. With the extra tip money, we never waited for a drink in any of the areas that we chose to go. We mostly continued to go to the same spots, since we knew the servers and they knew us. Our cabin was clean everyday and we had no issues there. I traveled with my best friend (both in our 30s) and my parents (late 50s). On the 4th day, the toilet in my parents' cabin malfunctioned, but it was fixed in 4 hours. It did not cause them any issues at all. Great Stirrup Cay was beautiful. We relaxed on lounge chairs and had drinks and lunch. The lunch was a typical "picnic" type lunch. We did the Dunns River Falls and Bamboo Beach excursion. Dunns River Falls is a must-do. Both my parents did it with no problems and my mother has had 2 back surgeries. It was awesome!! Bamboo Beach was pretty, but it was a pretty typical beach day. The food was Jamaican style and was enjoyable. We hit up the Royal Palms Beach Club in Grand Cayman - taxi was $4 one day and $2 to get in. It was beautiful and a highlight of the trip. Lastly, we did the Dune Buggy & Snorkel in Cozumel and this was awesome!! We had so much fun. Disembarkation was probably the worst part of the trip, but wasnt too bad because we carried our luggage off. Only 2 people were working in customs and it took forever. It we had an earlier flight (we purposely did not for this reason), we would have been in trouble. 2 customs workers for 4000 people seems silly. Read Less

this was our 2nd time on the EPIC, we went last year as well, but this year we were a group of 16 people. I can honestly say that we chose the perfect ship to have such a large group of all ages, as there is something for everyone. the kids LOVE the splash academy so much, they spend all year talking about the counselors and how much they miss them, and saw some of the same counselors this year again! honestly, they are the best people to deal with kids, and have so many creative activities for them to do each day and night! its great to know they are in good hands! I found that the ship is still in perfect condition, everything in working order, all staff very attentive, some of them went out of their way to please us, and even recognized us after a year! we chose the EPIC again because we loved everything so much last year, the waterpark and we wanted to see things we didn't have time for last time. the waterpark, pools, Jacuzzis are still amazing, the music, dancing and activities by the pool are always entertaining. the inside cabins are perfect for us as we are never there cause there is too much to do on the ship, so cabins are perfect for showering and sleeping, plus they were close to academy for dropping off/picking up kids! the food was always changing and excellent everywhere we went from the buffet to manhattan to taste to o'sheehans...we loved revisiting the Noodle Bar (yummy potstickers), Wasabi (best sushi/sashimi ever), having made to order Nutella crepes even and went to Shanghai restaurant for the first time (loved the chicken and shrimp noodles) and discovered you can order all you want off the menu, which is great for just $15 cover charge! this time around we did the Cirque Dreams and Dinner and it was SPECTACULAR!! I mean, there are no words really, you are just astounded at what they do in such a space, truly incredible! I recommend that to everyone, it is worth more than 39 dollars....we also went to Nickelodeon's Slime Time Live and it was so entertaining, funny and has audience participation..i also took my youngest daughter to Nickelodeon's Pajama Jam Breakfast and it was awesome!! Dora, Diego, SpongeBob, Patrick, and the Fairly Oddparents were there, along with the Nick team, of course and it was amazing! breakfast buffet included was the best breakfast and a photo with characters was included! Blue man group was phenomenal as always, legends was great, they are identical to the real life singers, wow!! we went to visit the bridge viewing room on our last day and its very interesting to see and the view is great as well. I honestly don't understand and cant believe ANY of the negative reviews I have seen before. everything was more than perfect and I love the epic and Norwegian cruise line, there is nothing better than freestyle cruising to me, where you can go eat when you want, wherever you want and dress as you want! its on your terms! it works best for my family. also, the 3 ports we visited were great! Jamaica we went to Dunn's river falls and climbed up the river, which was a once in a lifetime experience! I had waited many years to do it, and it was better than expected. Grand Cayman tender was very easy, short boat ride to dock, and did the Trolley Roger tour which is very informative about the island, then went to 7 mile public beach which is gorgeous, clean, clear, great food and local beer. Cozumel was great also, we took a taxi and went to Paradise beach club which is only $3 per person to enter, and you have access to pool, lounge chairs inside pool and around pool, changing rooms, restrooms, beach, pier, chairs and umbrellas. plus, delicious nachos, tacos and drinks! (which are extra) This is truly the way to travel, you have your transportation, hotel, food, drinks, and entertainment included for 1 price. and yes, some things are extra, but its not NECESSARY, its OPTIONAL. to me, its all worth it! We are definitely Norwegians, and are already booked on the Escape in November! cant wait to cruise like a Norwegian again! Read Less

This was my (and my husband's) first cruise. If you are in your 20s to 40s and without children, here are the top five things you need to know, in order of priority: 1. GET A POSH PASS. But don't tell anyone. I want one to be available the next time I cruise. 2. Shut up about the (un)available TV stations. You want to watch sports? Stay home. 3. Buy Poo-Pourri. It may just save your relationship. 4. Stay up dancing all night at Spice, after you go to Blue Man Group and Second City and Howl at the Moon. 5. As much as you may want to do karaoke, resist the urge - especially as it gets later in the week. Trust me. Just... go sing along with Howl at the Moon if you want to sing. Karaoke gets frightening. You know exactly what I mean. Miscellany: If you're easily intimidated, avoid the vendors in Jamaica. And the drug dealers. Don't try to walk from 7-mile beach back to the terminal. Don't. I say it again, Don't. I'll happily share with you pictures of iguanas. Don't make the hour-long walk. Take a lorazepam if you have to fly out of Miami airport. Maybe two. It's a nightmare. Make it to the Mr. Sexy Legs contest. Bring a water bottle with you and have bartenders fill it regularly. Every single silver shop in Cozumel is the same. Don't waste time. Learn Spanish. You'll get a better price. Tip well. Everywhere. Every time. Even if tips are included. Wear sunscreen. Every day. Shut up about it. Don't bother with the "everything $10" shop on the boat. Hit up Teppenyaki. Good time, good food. Drink a lot. Of water. Who am I kidding... drink a lot of Patron. Margaritaville is fun but overpriced. Hit it up -once. Go to the gym. Or don't. It's your vacation. Either way, just trolling the ship, you're probably getting to your 10,000 steps per day. Speaking of which, INFINITE THANKS to whoever found my FitBit and returned it to Guest Services within 2 hours. I am so thankful for your honesty and would like to send you a gift in return. If by some unlikely chance you are reading this, please let me know. Is anyone from the Kenny-squared Chicago crew on this board??? I'd (we'd) love to stay in touch and do some stunt-man and chocolate pretzel shots if you're in town. If you don't boo the Sox, we won't boo the Cubs. Last word: You're on a freaking cruise ship in the Caribbean. If you have something to complain about, please politely do so in the company of those folks leading as miserable an existence as you are. Spare the rest of us. We had a ball! Happy to answer any questions!!! Sarah (Massachusetts) Read Less

Fantastic cruise. Stayed in the Heaven suit.Best ship for your family. Beyond this world first class treatment and experience. We enjoyed so much that we immediately bought another cruise while on the Epic Norwegian cruise. Will be sailing with my family in Norwegian new ship the escape. will be bring along at least 10 families. enjoyment of the century and would recommend anyone or family who wants strong bonding time with tier families to take a cruise trip. Good service. Our butler was the best. Humble, kind and caring. The restaurant and food were prepared according to our taste. The staff were very nice and kind to our children. staff knew the names of each family member. we enjoyed the Blue man show and cirque du dreams. The kids care center and the water park was unique. I really enjoyed our room and the tranquility that existed. we slept like babies and on the last day our children even my husband did not want to leave the ship. We had to spend 3 days in Miami before flying back but still it was difficult re-adjusting the hustle of daily life. Oh cannot wait to go back. Read Less
