We had heard good things about Norwegian and wanted to give them a try. We were disappointed. The food was terrible and it was impossible to get into the smaller shows. One night I ordered what was supposed to be a hot appetizer and it came out stone cold. Food had no flavor. At the pub they serve your food in a metal basket sitting on a piece of paper which made it impossible to use a knife. We enjoyed our excursions. The cabin steward was terrible. She did not listen to our requests. The room was a nightmare. It was embarrassing as you could see through the glass. The beds were as hard as a rock. The only real plus was the unlimited beverage package. The casino was tight. I figured I would have earns some perks for the amount of money I spent. Other cruise lines have given me free cruises, wine etc.We will never sail Norwegian again. We prefer Carnival. Read Less

We choose the Epic because our friends were going and we were asked to join them as opposed to our normal Palace Resorts trips in the caribbean or Mexico this year. Never again. The staff was great but the nickel/dime concept of the trip was crazy. Everything from bourbon, shrimp cocktails and the list goes on is upcharged. For them to also advertise an excursion day when we actually only have 2 hours to enjoy the day is wrong. When they did bring us to their exclusive island for an excursion day everything was additional cash payment including canopies, umbrellas, floats, snorkel gear and drinks. So the one day they let us spend the entire day on their island became a cash holdup. Not for me and for the price we paid. The staff and the crew were great but the room was noticeably tiny and so narrow 2 people could not pass by each other which seemed way smaller then the ships I have traveled on with Royal. The food was great also but every time you looked there were added upcharges. We had the unlimited drink package only to find out many types of beverages where not included such as specialty coffees served throughout the ship! A shot of Makers Mark would have costed $18 as there is an upcharge. We learned you have to buy the coffee package also. If you see the Le Circ show you get totally robbed of a specialty dining upgrade and also upcharged us $48 extra to see the show. They stayed up late to think of that ripoff. DONE NCL Read Less

I chose this cruise because of the reviews that I had read. The ship is way over crowded and there is not enough room around the outside areas for everyone to enjoy. The food was sub par. It was always cold and did not seem fresh. The mini-suit bathroom, where the toliet is located is way to small. It was set up strangely where the shower is across the small hall from the toliet area, both have frosted glass doors. Not enough privacy. The speciality resturants we always over booked. We could only get into 2. Way to many people for the size of the ship, not enough space. The entertainment was ok. The epic Beatles were great. Staff were not very helpful at the guest services when we had questions regarding phone service. Most of the wait staff were not friendly. The exception was in the Italian restaurant. It seemed like the passengers were more like an inconvience to the staff no matter what part of the ship that you were on. We did not enjoy this cruise. I would not recommend this ship. Read Less

We like ships wth no more than 320O passengers. Have sailed various lines in the last 10 years. Decided to try a bigger ship. A mistake. Too many passengers and too many had complimentary drink package. So the ship, was full of too many drunks, mostly ages 35-55 who were loud, disruptive, particularly in dinner dining rooms. If you don’t have a reservation for dinner you will wait in a line. Couldn’t see a show because you needed a reservation and none available. Ship is a floating bar/casino. Our cabin (category B.B.) was in a good location considering there were only 2 elevators (forward and aft). Cabin design was the worst, many other passengers said the same thing. Entering the cabin the toilet was on one side, shower on the othe. Sink, medicine cabinet was at the foot of the bed. 2ft between foot of the bed and vanity area. Very poor lighting. We were always bumping into each other. Crew was really great and food was better than average. Will never sail this ship again or recommend it Read Less

For our 10 year anniversary, we decided to do a trip on board the EPIC with the Western Caribbean itinerary. Just a few things to consider as you read my review. We love the larger ships, but know larger ships are not for everyone. With a larger ship there will be a lot of people, there will be a wait or two, there will be people you find annoying and there will be people you like. At times, the staff will seem flustered, as you never know what may have just happened with a guest they dealt with before they now had to deal with you. (I watched a Maître D' get ripped a new one by a passenger that was obviously operating under liquid courage and the problem is something he created, not the crew member). Did I mention there will be a lot of people? Also know, I am an avid researcher of the trips I book, so I know what to expect going in when it comes to ship layout, room layout, etc. I learned there are people out there who all a TA to do everything, never do any research, and then run in to surprises when they arrive. In today's world of Tech, we have all the information needed to be prepared for a trip. We booked all of our dining reservations as soon as I could online. I believe it was 120 days out. Due to this, we never waited for a table. Always walked right up and was seated immediately. We did not do any of the shows in the EPIC theatre. We have seen numerous Burn the floor shows and Priscilla is not our cup of tea. If I had one recommendation, it would be to have a more appealing show in place of Priscilla, but not a deal breaker. Below will be an in-depth review of our Trip on the EPIC April 6th -13th. At the end I will cover the themes from the week. Embarkation: We drove into Port Canaveral Friday and stayed at the Homewood Suites about 2 miles for the port. The hotel was great. If you need a dinner place, Rising Tide Tap and Table was amazing. We waited for about 40 minutes to sit on the patio, but worth it for the view and the great food. They also had a great selection of beer choices from local breweries. We decided to park at PC. Yes it is a little pricey, but we built that into our vacation budget. I really like the control of when I can arrive and being able to walk off the ship, load the car, and to be headed back home. Arrived at Port Canaveral 9am Saturday and were in line by 9:15 (number 20 in line) doors opened at 930AM, was checked in a seated by 945 am with a group 1 boarding pass. (side note: they recently hired a bunch of new NCL port agents, so pack some patience as some information is mismatched from one agent to the next). The agent who checked us in was quite a delight and set the tone for a great trip. Boarding started a little passed 1130am, I was standing at guest services at 1142am. We were probably around the first 20-30 people on board and I am not priority, yet. Got POSH passes - worth it since the ship was sailing at capacity ($118 for the two of us for the week). More on POSH later. Once on board and finished at Guest Services, we went to headliners. Waited in line for about 5 minutes and made a couple adjustments to book the two restaurants I could not book online (Moderno and Shanghai's). After headliners we got our bearings until Taste was open, which we jumped into at 12:05 pm. Lunch was great and fast. After lunch we headed up to POSH for the first drink of the cruise (Red Stripe for me and something fruity for the Mrs.). Rooms were open and ready at around 2:00 pm. We had our first bag at 4:10 pm and the last three were there when we got back from the muster drill. We were planning to watch sail away from our aft balcony, but We were delayed due to medical emergency and according to a person in the affected party, it was a legit emergency. We pulled out at 8:03 pm (while we were at dinner). Did not affect anything, except a few dollars of taxes on the alcohol we consumed while still in port and a one hour late arrival to GSC, but the Captain extended our stay in GSC by an hour, so nothing lost. There were actually two more medical emergencies on our trip. One was handled when we arrived in Jamaica (we passed the EMTs walking up the gangway as we left the ship). There was also one in Grand Cayman that delayed tendering a little. Dinner was in Moderno and this is a favorite of ours. We did not have the dining package, so this was the only specialty restaurant we hit all week, but worth it for the pineapple. Great food and service as usual. I liked we kicked our cruise off with specialty before getting to the "I am not sure I can eat another thing" place of a cruise. Once we finished dinner we were able to jump back to our balcony and watch sail away, which honestly was really neat as there was quite the thunderstorm in the distance so mother nature gave us a great light show. Day 2, GSC: I was prepared for a 50/50 chance of going to GSC, but we made it. Not much to say here, but it is a beautiful island, so I hope everyone gets to experience it. Having the ship perks carry over like the beverage package and then the free food made it that much better. Being off early helped us tremendously as we go on the island, got great seats under a palm tree and did not move much. I was about 20 10 yards from a bar, but there were also servers walking around. As the day went on, the lines at the bar got a little longer but never waited longer than 10 minutes. I would suggest to go to the outskirt bars and not the ones in the middle right by the port dump off point. We did the Taco bar for lunch and waited in line for that about 10 minutes (ate around 12:15 pm). Excursion at GSC: We bought the snorkeling package ahead of time. We did the $50 shore excursion credit so with that and my Silver status discount, cost me about $9.00 or something like that. Worth it for priority tendering and not having to book my tender reservations. Snorkeling was okay, but you get the stuff for the day. Saw a few fish, but after an hour we had our $9 worth. Dinner this night was in Taste. The food was good, cannot remember what I had. I was going to do the whole photo journalism thing, but decided to leave my phone in the room. Service was friendly and fast, maybe one hour and 15 minutes total and we went around 7:30pm. We hung out in Howl at the Moon for a little bit, which is always fun. Day 3, Day at Sea: I will use this spot to talk about POSH. For us, this was totally worth it. Being our 10 year and having no kids with us, we wanted a little quiet the best we could get on a boat of 4000 people. If we didn't get passes, we would have been fine with Spice or the Deck 18 sun deck (I noticed they set up a small bar on the deck 18 sundeck at sea days, which is a nice touch. Back to POSH. This was worth it because we never saw more than 20 people when we were up there. It was quiet, the sun was always warm and there were umbrellas if it was not too windy. The loungers are padded and are covered with towel covers that hold because of elastic corners. There was always a strong breeze, so even though the sun was hot. The bar staff were awesome, remembered our names and took great care of us. You get a pitcher water on days you are up there, which for water drinkers like my wife and I, was almost worth the price of admission. I am not a tip ahead of time kind of guy, but I will tip with great service, and did. We grabbed some pre-dinner sushi and it was some of the best I have had. Price averaged around $8 a roll and I felt worth it. We then did a later dinner in Manhattan, so we dressed up a bit and enjoyed ourselves. Day 4, Jamaica We had a great time in Jamaica. There is shopping right off the pier that was decent. There is a market about a half a mile from the pier, but be advised, the are quite aggressive and stuff not really special to what you could get at the other shops. Your typical straw market goods. There is a jerk chicken street vender right inside the shopping mall area that is amazing. It is a good size portion too that can be shared between two people for a lighter lunch/ heavy snack. It was $10 and came with some of the best rice and peas I had, along with some of the best chicken I have had. Excursion: We did the Zip Line and Bobsled. This was worth every penny and we had a blast. The staff was hilarious, the zip line was through the beautiful forest and the lift ride to the top gives you some great views of the ship and the forest as you ride up. The bobsled is a lot of fun and a special thanks to the guys for joining me in the "Cool Runnings" bobsled send off. If you don't know, time for you to go rent the movie. We did a late lunch in O'Sheehans. We did have to wait about 10 minutes for a table, but it was worth it. The wings were excellent. For Dinner this night we ate in Shanghai's. You HAVE to make reservations, so be sure to do that asap. The food was great and service was fast and friendly. Only downside for us was we were still kind of full from eating lunch at O"Sheehans when we got back from port. So come hungry, if that is possible on a cruise. Day 5, Grand Cayman. Grand Cayman was a great port. We had an excursion, so tendering was not an issue and we took our time getting off the boat to go. We did a little shopping in GC, but not much. Excursion: We did the Taste of GC or what I will call the Grand Cayman Booze Tour. This was a lot of fun and our bus driver/ tour guide was pretty funny and very knowledgeable about the island. We went to the Brewery, the Rum Cake Factory, and the Rum Distillery. I will say, this is all tasting alcohol. It is great alcohol, but that is really all it is. You get to see the island, you get to hear history from your guide, but if you are not really a big fan of tasting great alcohol, this is not for you. You will get a buzz, so eat a big breakfast. We got back on board and all we wanted was so good Pub food because of all the alcohol we took on. So O'Sheehans it was. Great burger for some soaking up. We laid low the rest of the night. Day 6, Cozumel. Cozumel is a great port. The Pier goes right into a great shopping mall, where you can get a lot of great deals and things for your friends and family back home. We got off early, did some shopping, and then went and met for our excursion. Excursion: We did the Cozumel Taste and Cooking Experience at Playa Mia Beach Park. This was one of the best excursions I have done while on a cruise. My wife and I had so much fun and made some great food. If you like to cook, or like Mexican cuisine (I am a lover of both), you have to do this excursion. Your drinks are included and you get to eat a fabulous meal that you cook. You also get some time to hang around and use the amenities of Playa Mia Beach Park and there is some shopping there as well. Worth every penny. Dinner this night was in Manhattan. It was great and service was fast and friendly. Day 7: At Sea. You can see above about our At Sea days and how we spent them. I will add that we loved had our last day being at Sea. We got to relax from a busy three days in port. We honestly felt like it was our first day on the boat, and never felt the last day blues. Day 8: Time To Go Disembarkation: We decided to do the 9:30 am luggage tags. Got a great breakfast in taste and then we were in the lobby waiting at 8:20 am. (side note: this is a great place to people watch with guest services and people freaking out over what seems to be insignificant.) We got antsy and decided to walk off 8:45 AM. Was off the boat in about 10 minutes, as they have seemed to really work this issue out. There was a defined line to walk and staff spaced all throughout the walk to get off the boat. Found a porter, slipped him a $10 and we were in our car ready to pull out about 9:05 am. Final Comments: Dining: Food was good to great. I made all my reservations online, went to headliners to make a couple of adjustments. Never waited for a table. Highlights were Moderno (a favorite of ours), the sushi (best I have had), Shanghai's, O'Sheehans wings and the burger and the prime rib the last night. We only ate in the Buffet twice for lunch and once for breakfast - everything else was a sit down. Side note: I live in Charleston, SC and consider myself a foodie as we have an embarrassment of riches here in Charleston for food. The ever looming engines: There was never an issue with engines. The last night we were doing 22kts. Bar Waits: -When not using the Bar in Posh, I never waited longer than 5 - 7 minutes for a drink (including pool bar and the atrium bar). Cleanliness: -Boat was spotless. Room was spotless (Aft Balcony 13282). There is some construction going on aboard the ship and it seems the are trying to get things in order for going back over across the big pond. Was not a bother for us. The Crowd: Yes it was packed and busy, but this is a big ship. If you do not like crowds, never go on a big ship. You will wait from time to time for an elevator (we take the stairs a good bit to help with the food guilt as every calorie burned is one we can consume). Also, some people just have bad attitudes. Have a drink, you are on vacation. The Beverage Package: This was great to have and I did not have to worry about watching my bill all wee on what I was spending on drinks. Yes, some "premiums" are not included, but for me it did not make a difference. Cigar Lounge: It is worth mentioning they monitor and kick cigarette smokers out. Yes this is a big deal. Cigar smoke and cigarette smoke are completely different. Final Thoughts: My five star review is not inflated. I came to review to give a honest look at how great NCL can be. Yes, I get it is all about perspective, but its vacation, always pack some patience. We had a great time and I would go on the EPIC again. We never felt smoke was heavy, but maybe once, when passing through Casino. The ship does have a different layout than most, but do some researching and you will be just fine. We were really low key on this trip, as it was our first cruise just the two of us. We did a couple dance parties, some of the game shows, some of the music. Our best night was spent at Maltings listening to the Manhattan Band and having drinks. We got a treat with a member of four blue walking up and singing a couple songs and being awesome and doing my yell out of "Fly Me to the Moon" as he had a very distinct Sinatra feel to his voice. Our last night ended with us slow dancing to this song. Perfection. Read Less

My husband and I had never been on a cruise before and we definitely will be back! So I guess we can’t make comparisons. The staff and crew were friendly and helpful. The food was so awesome and the choices were great! We ate at three of the specialty restaurants with Moderno being our favorite. I have to have a gluten free diet and they had it noted. I didn’t even have to mention it. Lots of places make you feel like a freak when you have dietary restrictions. They even had special bread, which I didn’t expect. We saw several shows including the Cirque Epicurean show. Dinner is included and I think it was my favorite show! Burn the floor, Priscilla and the Beatles show we also saw and they were great! A really nice surprise was the awesome band in the Cavern Club? I believe the name was Blue 4? I apologize if I have it wrong because they are wonderful. The ship is like a city on the ocean. The cruise director Mandy is adorable and has a great voice for the announcements. She truly was born for that position! The one thing that was not great was our Best of Ocho Rios excursion that we bought through Norwegian. I won’t go into details, but I expect it to be up to the same standards as the cruise if I buy it through them. Thanks to all the staff and crew of the Epic for making our thirtieth Anniversary Epic! We just returned from sailing on NCL Epic (3/11-3/16/19). This was our 8th cruise overall and the 2nd time sailing with NCL. We were blown away by the mind-numb robots posing as NCL Crew members. Hardly any of them acknowledged our presence during the 5-night cruise. I do have to say that our cabin steward on deck 13, Wilbert, was always pleasant to talk with and exceeded our expectations. The rest of his colleagues should take notes from him on how to interact with the people paying their salaries. Somehow, the staff in all areas of the ship from the Departure terminal in Port Canaveral, to the Garden Café, Exercise room, Customer Service Desk, and officers walking around to the ship forgot how to be nice and pleasant to the passengers. The people at the Customer Service Desk were the least helpful and disingenuous people we have ever met on a cruise. We were awe- struck in the terminal when boarding started. One of the NCL Terminal workers directing people started screaming at the us to “GET IN THE RIGHT LINE AND STAY IN A SINGLE FILE”. The folks scanning our room cards to board the ship looked at us with blank stares. We thought it might be due to the stress of swapping out 10,000 passengers in 5 hours’ time, but their attitudes and lack of interest in passengers continued to decline the entire week. The “Unlimited Adult Drink Package” needs to be tossed overboard! Just know that it will cost you half of your cruise in time, waiting to get served. Average wait time was 20 mins during peak hours on the pool deck regardless of what you are drinking (this includes non-alcoholic drinks as well). If you hate waiting, you will hate the fact that they will only give you two alcoholic drinks at a time, and that is after you have already waited 20 mins. They do not sell buckets of beer anymore. Finally, the canned beer is warm by early afternoon, because they never refilled the ice in the coolers holding the cans. Even though it is unlimited drinks, they still only give you one measured shot per ingredient in the mixed drinks. It was college spring break for many and as hard as they tried, most of them were not able to get drunk. I guess that could be viewed as a benefit to rest of us who were not there to be drunk for 5 straight days. There were only 2 roaming servers on the pool deck on day 1. However, they were both on the same side of the ship, which was the opposite side that we were sitting on. Day 2, never saw a server until 2 pm. We finally flagged her down, so we could place an order. She told us “I am really, really, really, really busy” and then walked away. Yet she walked by us 10 times to pick up empty cups and cans, but only rarely brought drinks to the other passengers by us. Amazing! A server finally came by and took our order a few times on the third day. What really blew our mind is that NCL did not even have servers roaming the venues before the big shows. There was one server in the comedy club, but he only served the first couple of rows of people before the show started, then they closed the bar. NCL is very good at controlling the flow of beverages, so the Unlimited Packages they offer (both with or without alcohol) are not what they may seem. BTW, you will pay full price for any of the beverages in the mini-bar located in your room. We prefer to order breakfast and lunch in the main dining rooms. The food was good and hot. The service was not. The hostesses never greeted us, just asked how many were in our party. We had to constantly ask for coffee or water refills. We would ask them to hold the potatoes at breakfast yet ended up with plates full of potatoes every day. We asked for 1 slice of toast each and they still brought 2 slices per person. NCL needs to hold additional training courses on how to listen to people. No sense in bringing food that we asked you not to bring. If you order bacon at the dining room, you will end up with a pile that probably weighs at least 1 pound. YES, WE GET IT. THE FOOD IS UNLIMITED. That does not mean we need waste it all. O Sheenagan’s bar had very good (made to order) foods. All four of us enjoyed everything we ate there. We enjoyed the specialty dining restaurants like Cagneys, Teppanyaki, and La Cucina. The foods were wonderful, and the service was excellent. With unlimited drink packages and prepaid tips for serving staff, there is zero incentive for the them to go above and beyond anymore, to be pleasant, or to exceed passengers’ expectations. It is a shame, as our first NCL cruise 5 years was one of the best we have ever been on. I hope this feedback reaches NCL as there is a lot they could do to change this experience for others without costing them any money. Unfortunately, it will be a long time before we will consider taking another cruise on NCL. See you on the next cruise. Read Less

This was my third Norwegian cruise and up to now have been very impressed and satisfied. I have always given excellent reviews to friends and family on the excellent service and entertainment of Norwegian Cruise Lines and have influenced several people to choose Norwegian. I had a very special friend whom I had talked into going with me for his first cruise. I gave him wonderful reviews of my past cruises on the wonderful food and excellent service and attention. I gave glowing reviews of the on board shows and entertainment. Sadly, there were only two shows, instead of a different show each night as expected. Other show were available at additional expense. Shows were great but just two was very disappointing. Bartenders and wait staff acted as if they totally hated their jobs and could not even muster up a smile for the passengers. Bartenders totally ignored you while you were waving your cards right in front of them. Bartenders only made one drink at the time, even if four of the same drink was ordered. Very slow and non responsive. I may have to check out another cruise line for my next cruise. Food was not outstanding at all. Nothing at all like my last two cruises. Not much to choose from unless you paid for the specialty restaurants. Read Less

We had to wait a long time just to get on ship. Because of engine problens, we were not able to visit the islands of St Thomas. and Tortolla. Also. we were not able to go to Norwegians private island. To top things off. we arrived back at Port Canaveral. The crew worked extra to try to make up for the many problems. the entertainment was not the best. We did enjoy the Beatles presentation. The other to shows were not to our likeing. This was my sixth cruise second time with Norwegian and my 30th wedding anniversary, I understand that up keeping on a vessel is necessary but arc welding and grinding off tie downs that were in the wrong place on the deck and closures of areas on the pool deck, very inconvenient. The specialty restaurants we did was La Cucina, Cagney's Steakhouse and Teppanyaki. All three were excellent. We also did the cirque dreams epicurean dinner , we enjoyed that show. Burn the flood was good, the comedians were funny, did not like Priscilla queen of the desert, Howl at the moon was also good. Buffets are buffets, the food so so. The bar tenders Won't make a frozen rum runner, but the drink package came in handy. Here is a good tip take the elevator on deck 15 outside the buffets up to deck 18 where there is padded deck chairs and hardly anyone around walk up to the front and enjoy. Wished we found that earlier in the trip. I don't understand why they don't have music in H20 during the day they have a big screen showing diving spots of the world. Wife did a few spa treatments she was happy with that. Not sure about doing that big of a ship again. Or at least that one, Port Canaveral is very easy on and off the ship. When getting off the ship Use the porters to get you and your bags to the front at customs. It's worth the tip. Read Less

Chose the Epic based on date and departure port first, then price, then itenerary. Had sailed on Oasis last year and was in a Top level suite. I should have been prepared to be disappointed...again. This class vessel or mega-ship is NOT designed for the customer. It is more like an engineering study in space maximization with horrible ergonomics Good: The food was well above average. Best- the Moderno. Bad: Room service-used once at breakfast not worth it. Casino- ok truth- we lost- but we expect to lose. We do want a little entertainment while we play and we lost so fast it wasnt even close to fun. Two roulette tables - 2$ and 10$ chips. I guess NCL caters to the 1% or total morons. The cabin: calling our balcony a mini-suite was a misnomer if not borderline misleading advertising. Definitely the worst balcony room on any ship we have sailed. (This was probably our 30th cruise - Cunard, RC, Viking, HA, Princess). The bed was an abomination for anyone not from Munchkinland in Oz. The curved headboard makes it even worse. The two closets and storage are OK but the head (bathroom) was also very tight -although the shower was large. A sink in rhe bed area room was UNSAT. Moving around the cabin was extremely awkward. Never again. Really believe me- these are NOT worth it. The cabin door lock did not work. 13243 cabin. Three trips to front desk, 3 rekeys, over an hour waiting in hall for security to fix the lock. Not one apology. Read Less

We stayed in one of the mini suites with a balcony. Our room was very clean and spacious with tons of storage space. Our room steward, Kabul, was so friendly and accommodating with any of our needs. We chose the unlimited beverage and dining package. We hung out in the Atrium and the martini bar and at O' Sheehans the most. On a ship full of people these bartenders and serving staff made you feel as though you were their top priority. They knew our names by heart and were so friendly. Raj and Made at the atrium bar were the greatest. Our cruise director, Mandy, and her staff were so fun and entertaining. Lots to do on the ship. The ports of call were fun. Did not do any excursions just shopping. Our dining experiences were superb. We ate at Teppenyaki, Lacucina, Cagneys, and Modernos as well as Taste and Manhattan room. We are not buffet people so we did not go there. We had window tables at most every restaurant. At Lacucina we were seated with a gorgeous view of the sunset off the bow of the boat. Best table in the house. The food at every restaurant was so tasty and hot and fresh. As usual the wait staff was excellent. Toward the end of our trip my husband ended up with a major cellulitis infection in his big toe. We went to the ship doctor and had a great experience with a very kind and compassionate staff. It's expensive but had we not gone he would probably have ended up needing his toe amputated so it was worth paying for. In summary, we will sail again and only with Norwegian. We were totally pampered and spoiled and entertained the whole week by their staff!! Read Less

Friends of ours who have been on several cruises, recommended the Epic Cruise. It was our first ever cruise and we were celebrating our 30 Year Wedding Anniversary. The entire experience was awesome! The Ship was first class with outstanding shows and entertainment. The excursions were great experiences and loads of fun. The service on board the ship was top notch! We especially enjoyed the Cirque Dreams Epicurean show, Burn the Floor Show and the music entertainment of the Epic Beatles!!!! The only excursion of disappointment was Jamaica as the tour guide was unorganized and the island itself was not what we expected. Our favorite excursion was Cozumel, the tour guides and the cleanliness of tender boat and Passion Island experience was most enjoyable. The variety of food offered on the Epic and how delicious it all tasted was beyond expectations. The bartenders kicked butt!!!! We already put money down for our next cruise. Read Less

We chose Norwegian lines basically because my husband isn't a dress up kinda guy and Norwegian doesn't have the formal dinners! They have several dinning options. We enjoyed the buffet, they have a different dinner theme every day so you have new choices daily. The young girl that was the greeter at the buffet every morning and evening was so sweet and was the perfect person for the job. We also liked to destinations that this trip offered. I recently had health problems and open heart surgery so the getaway and relaxation was greatly needed. The entire cruise was very relaxed and not fast paced. The entire staff were so happy, friendly, helpful. Our mini suite with a balcony was beautiful, and had more storage room than I ever imagined. We did 2 excursion, Dunns river falls-bamboo beach in Jamaica and turtles and swim with the stingrays in Grand Cayman. Both were exciting and fun, well worth it to see and do. We had such a fantastic time it would be awesome to do it more often I didn't want it to end! Read Less

We choose this cruise for the length and itinerary. It left 3 days after our wedding so it was the perfect timing, we loved the length of the cruise and the places it was going. The ship was out dated, the room felt grimey... we had a balcony suite. The room was smaller than an interior room we had on a Royal Caribbean ship this past spring, the layout is poor... there is no privacy to the bathroom, the toilet is in like a shower stall with a sliding shower door that is frosted glass. The specialty restaurants were ALWAYS booked until 9pm we had to book 4 days in advance just to get dinner before 10pm. The drink package did not include top shelf liqour, red bull or coffee or bottle water which we were used to on RC ships. The bars were always understaffed and the staff didnt seem like they were in good moods ever... The rest of the staff was great for the most part. We did not want to put a credit card on file as they put a $300 hold on your card and do not release the money for up to a month after the cruise. Being newlyweds we didn't have a lot of extra money to have $300 held for that long so wanted to put cash on the account instead. Their internet was down so we could not get money out of the ATM and our room cards kept getting shut off which made it so we couldn't use our drink package that we already paid for which was embarrassing and super inconvenient since we didn't plan on buying anything on the ship anyways seeing how we had the drink and restaurant package already. That happened 4 times and each time we had to go to the help desk to have them fix it and every time we did they were very rude about it. The circus was great, the food served during the dinner part of it wasn't that great and you had to eat what they gave you, there wasn't different options on the menu for it so for us it was $18 with the specialty dining package but regularly it was around $50 per person. The box office was only open from 4:30 - 6 every day which was also inconvenient.. the app only had each days itinerary on it so you could not see or book anything for any other day so we really didn't ever know what was going on.. The crowd seemed to be mostly people in their 50's and up which might have been another reason why we did not have as good of a time as usual. We will be sticking to Royal Caribbean from now on. We chose this cruise because we've never been on a 10-day and we wanted to see Harvest Cay in Belize. Harvest Cay was amazing to say the least. We didn't have one bad day of weather except for the last day at Sea with Gale force winds returning to FL. This was our 12th cruise with NCL and we were very disappointed with the Latitudes Members Group. No announcement of the cocktail party, & the Cruise Next deals are not as good as they have been in the past, so we didn't book another one. We thoroughly enjoyed and had great relationships with the Photography staff, especially Marco. Not too "salesy", and always too great pics of us! The buffet was great with a lot of variety at each meal. It would be nice if the pool deck food bars would open sooner for lunch on "At sea days" and close breakfast earlier. People were always waiting for lunch there. Read Less

The ships staff was friendly, courteous, and knowledgeable about anything that we might need or want. The entertainment was top notch, especially the Cirq De Epicurian, that was completely surprising, as the food was great and the show was completely engrossing! our shore excursions were better than anticipated, as the staffs of the individual excursions were just as polite and friendly as the crew on board the ship. Our cabin was functional, but small, as is the case with every cruise ship we've been on, but the bed was a bit short, my feet hung over the end of the bed. Embarkation and debarkation was smoother than any other cruise we've ever been on. Activities on board were different and interesting, and seemed a bit original, other than the usual bingo. Read Less

We arrived at Port Canaveral the day before our sail date. We went out to dinner, walked to the entrance of the port and we saw our ship, Norwegian Epic, docked. It was so big. We had the a shuttle pick us up at the hotel and brought us and our luggage to the port for embarkation. We were expecting a line, which there was but it moved smoothly and quickly. We checked in and got our keys. So excited to get on board. We found our cabin, bigger than expected and was very pleased with the large balcony which was VERY large. We met our steward, Walter and immediately asked to have the wet bar cleaned out and 2 deck chairs for our balcony. The case of water we ordered was already in the cabin. Walter was very efficient. He handed me a bottle of champagne! Loved that touch. By the time we finished exploring the ship, our luggage was in our room and the wet bar was emptied. Walter showed up with the deck chairs! We were very happy with everything. The food, the drinks, shows, restaurants, nothing disappointed us. We disembarked to all our stops which was easy. Jamaica was a let-down. Too many people asking us if we wanted taxis, rides, excursions, etc. Overall, the beaches were beautiful. We enjoyed walking at every stop. Each night for dinner, we had wonderful service. Most places were crowded but we expected that so no problem for us. My husband and I were very pleased with everything. Thank you Norwegian Cruise Lines for an unforgettable experience. Read Less

NCL always treat us well and are so nice. On this cruise, for us, it was all about the best band on this ship...4-Blue!! We never missed a night listening to them!! We watch them on YouTube at home since we miss them!! One downfall was when they got to play on deck one night but they only played for 1 hour! We, the great crowd of an audience wanted MORE of them, but they weren’t given permission to play longer.....the biggest mistake of the night! THE ONLY other thing we are not fond of are the design of the rooms. But we both agree this was one of our BEST trips ever! Big ship with lots to do! Stage shows were great also!! We are not a fan of having to make a reservation for some of them, but that’s how it is on this ship! The water slides are AWESOME....especially the toilet bowl one!!! Highly recommend Teppanyaki for dinner... it’s a WOW!!!!!! It’s a must!!! Bliss the nightclub was unpleasant the night we went....6 of us. We didn’t stay long. I pray they aren’t all like that on other ships. We enjoyed the pool areas a lot, and we enjoyed the couple, man and woman who sang onboard deck, but the raggae band wasn’t that great. In fact, I wanted to go elsewhere when they played. All other bands were really good!!!! We relaxed at the Martini bar at times....and the Beatles Band was VERY GOOD also!!! We’d take this same cruise on this same ship again anytime!!! Loved it!!! Read Less

The Epic is a large ship, so there is always a lot to do. We sailed Jan 23 for 10 days so some of the concerns we had heard with not being able to get chairs to sun ourselves were not a problem at all. I think this may have been because it was an older demographic due to a 10 day cruise. We had a balcony room 9087 and it was fabulous. It had more storage space than I could have ever imagined. We over pack and we still didn't use several areas of storage. Be sure to really look everywhere because there are places you wouldn't even guess that open to put things. It was wonderful. The bathrooms are unique and not my favorite but they were not as bad as I had anticipated after reading other reviews. If you make reservations for dining it is best but even if you don't the lines seem to go quickly. People started lining up early so it seemed like the line was awful but as soon as they opened the doors it was fine. The few specialty restaurants we went to were good but if you didn't do any I think you would be fine. Some people did specialty dining almost every evening and were very happy. We didn't go to the buffet until towards the end but I was pleasantly surprised. The shows were so-so, I would say that I have seen better productions on Carnival but they were still fine. I was not a fan of the Pricilla show but the acting was good. The main desk was fantastic and extremely helpful with anything you needed. I was very impressed with all of them and especially Angelica. I was leased impressed with the line (almost hour long) to stand in for the internet manager that was not very helpful nor very friendly. There needed to be two people in this area at peak times, it was ridiculous. Someone should have seen there was a problem and gotten some help. Overall I loved my cruise but if I have this issue on my next NCL cruise I seriously have to consider not cruising NCL again. The ports of call were wonderful and the way NCL makes sure that you are taken care to get to your excursions is very impressive. Almost funny, but very impressive. Read Less

We didn't explore Cape Canaveral because this was our third from this location. However, if it's your first then come a day earlier and take a tour of NASA Cape Canaveral. The embarkation and disembarkment were easy. The service from the staff was exceptional most of the time. The food overall was the best we had all year cruising and that was our forth cruise in four months. The port excursions were very good and the $50 credit for each cable against were both occupants booking was great. The ports selection and ship was the main factor for selecting this cruise. The Epic is a beautiful ship and easy to navigate. The specialty restaurant overall were exceptional except for Cagneys which was disappointing because the service and food. We enjoyed the movie nights under the stars outside in H2O on the back of the Epic. Finally, the entertainment was excellent. I would love to cruise on a transatlantic on this ship in the future. Our third cruise, others were Carnival and most recently (before this on) Holland America. Cons: The epic is huge with 5000 passengers. Will go on a smaller (2500-2800) ship next time. For us just too big, too many people, everywhere was crowded and lots of emphasis on the casino, you couldn't get away from it. If I want to gamble, I'll go to Vegas. Stood in line for all shows, no real "drop in" nightclub or club where you could come in, hear/see some entertainment and come and go. The rooms were smaller than our other cruises, no table to enjoy breakfast coffee or an afternoon/evening drink, and my feet hung off the bed (only 6' tall). Closet hangers were right out of Motel 6. Halls were narrow and always filled with cleaning carts. No real public area for people to meet, have conversations, play cards, etc. so they did so in buffet dining seating area leaving diners to stand with their food. Upon inquiry, was told by crew they were told to leave alone, bad policy. Their private islands are an embarrassment, especially Stirrup Key. Would have preferred a real stop at a real port. Pros: The food was good in all venues and Cagney's Steak house was one of the best steaks we have ever had, rivals Ruth's Chris. Cabin service was friendly and attentive. Entertainment was good, especially Cirque and a group called D'Soul Duo. Overall a good experience and good value for the money, especially the open bar, internet and specialty dining perks. We wanted to get away for the Christmas holidays and wanted to sail on the Epic. We have been on several of the NCL large and small ships and have over $2000 in future cruise money, so we are a fan of NCL. There were so many things wrong with the Epic, that surprises me why NCL has not fixed them. Embarkation was terrible with extremely long lines even we arrived when we should have. In the stateroom the toilet is in one room, the shower in another room, and the sink in the stateroom itself. Functionally this makes sense, but in reality, it is a mess. My wife's head, while in bed, was only about 5' from the toilet if the door was open. The balcony stateroom was very tight. We had to turn our small carryon to it's side to pass by the end of the bed. No power outlets above the counter level in the room. On deck 6, a main area, is the casino that goes from one side of the ship to the other. You walk through it to get to many places and due to the smoke, you and your clothes smell like smoke. Could not get to the Taste restaurant from the aft elevators. Moderno was awful. Food way overcooked. Getting a drink at the bar on the ship took well over 30 minutes. If you were a small person, getting to the bar would have been worse. There are two tiny pools for this big ship. The Cavern club sound was terrible. It is a long narrow room, with the stage along the long wall. Just awful. Our cabin stuck out beyond the upper staterooms meaning people could look down on us, and when they washed the glass above, guess where the wash water went. A main theater show with drag queens. Not the best for a main show in our opinion. The cruise director was great, and staff were friendly but the staff had accents made that made it very hard to understand them. On the positive side, Cagney's was awesome, as well as the bar there. Main DR food was very good, however breakfast plating was different everyday. Howl at the Moon was awesome, particulary Katie. Entertainment in the main DR was great.. Bar service at O'Shehan was very good. On the rear of the ship they have a large screen. This was great for watching football. Wonderful Christmas service by the Staff. We liked the crew talent show. Read Less

My wife and I have been on both Disney and Celebrity Cuise Lines in the past, this is the first on Norwegian. It is also our first cruise over Christmas. The good- lots to do and the Entertainment was the best we have seen on a cruise ship. We liked the balcony room design and our attendant was fantastic. If you have kids this ship is for you. Our favourite restaurants were The Bistro and Noodles. We have had a nice Xmas dinner at Manhattans. The bad- There was always a line whether we had reservations or not. It was annoying because the reservation system was abused by customers and the staff allowed it. Also some restaurants did not allow couples to reserve yet bigger groups were allowed,so while we stood in line big groups were brought right in. The ship was not very clean and the customer service was not up to the standards we are used to. Staff seemed confused and unsure. What we learned, we like specialized dining but with structured seating. We will probably return to Celebrity ( Reflection, Edge etc) and if we had kids go to Disney or Royal Caribbean. Celebrity should learn from Norwegians Entertainment package , Prescilla of the Desert, Burn the floor and the Comedians and magic acts were fantastic on Norwegian never saw anything that good on Celebrity.
