We wanted to try Norwegian and decided to take the Epic for our 2017 cruise. We had a largeish group and I was the in charge person, I have never written a review before and I will be honest in my opinions. The ship was in great condition and very pretty. To large for our taste with over 4000 passengers(our fault I guess for not checking) This was my 8th cruise. We have always had a balcony stateroom or better. This cruise wasn't terrible but would never do again or recommend it. The walls in our balcony room were curved which made our space very strange and my husband and I constantly bumped into each other. If we were both getting ready at the same time forget it. The configuration of the walls either made the bed recess or push out into room and then the couch the opposite. The bathroom and shower configureation was awful. The toilet was not private enough or big enough. Just weird whoever designed that you bad. My other big complaint is was all the reservations that had to be made. even for the free shows. How are you supposed to relax if your constantly trying to get a reservation for a free show and competing with 4000ppl? We did the 3 meal plan. First time ever at a specialty restaurant. Generally a good experience the Habachi restaurant was fantastic. I can understand reservations for those but not everything else! VERY frustrating.By the end of the cruise didnt even try and see any shows. Some of the staff told us they were trying out this new system with the reservations. Well it wasnt working for us.The show that we did see was awful and one comedy show we stood in the standby line and barely got in was pretty good. Many parts of the ship were fun, the Ice Bar was fun. So was the bowling. In the other restaurants the food wasnt any better or worse than other ships we have been on. A buffet is a buffet. NOT a lot of walk up eateries offered. Read Less

This was our third NCL cruise. We were traveling with a large group. The public restrooms were not kept clean and the soap dispensers were empty most of the time. We had an aft handicapped cabin, which was far from the elevators and on the complete other side of the ship from the buffet restaurant. The food in the buffet was mediocre at best, and the crew was not friendly. From the buffet restaurant you have to go through the pool area on Deck 15 to get to Spice H2O where our group was having a private function. My husband is an above knee amputee, walks with a prosthetic leg and uses a cane. He slipped and fell on the wet pool deck (which is not non-slip and we witnessed others slipping and falling too). His prosthetic leg broke in the fall. After waiting for a security officer to show up, he was taken to customer service to fill out an accident report, (they didn't know what forms to fill out and acted as if we were a bother), then we had to wait for the security officer again, then they took us to the ships medical center where they examined him and did an x-ray of his shoulder, and due to his prosthetic leg breaking he spent the next few days in a wheelchair. I repeatedly asked for copies of the report and medical records and was told they couldn't release them on board and that we would have to call the headquarters in Miami once we were back home to get them. After almost an hour on hold with the corporate office customer service yesterday, we were again told that they would NOT release any paperwork of the incident. We were lied to by the ships crew. We were very disappointed in the ships layout and the poor customer service we received both on and off the ship. Never again! Read Less

This was my first cruise and the price was more than right! The cabin was better than I expected. The storage is actually really good. The layout is odd with no door between sleeping area and the bathroom. Beds were super comfortable. The food was just ok. The best thing was the lava cake!! If you are looking for activities on the ship that are indoors, this isn't the ship for you. The excursions and the private island were great! Highly recommend booking the excursions through NCL. The pool situation is really awkward. No large pool and no infinity pool. There is a lap pool and a small pool on the main deck. The adult pool is really small, too. The entertainment is average. We had an amazing waiter at the pool, Minnin! Our room steward was Guido and he was outstanding, too. I highly recommend the Ice Bar, too. What a great experience. Read Less

We went with a large group of couples (14) on Epic. The customer service was terrible. Every bar that we went to took a long time to get just a beer which requires no mixing. The bartenders would purposely look away and ignore you. Several times we walked away and went to other bars. There is only place to get water on the ship--on the 15th deck--and they have tiny plastic cups and you cannot fill a water bottle. They charge for soda and you have to go to the same bar and wait in line again. If you want to water from the bar you have to buy it and they charge you a fortune. We were all dehydrated most of the cruise because of it and we had a couple of non drinkers who found it difficult to get something to drink. They were very difficult about seating our party together even though we had made reservations more than 4 months in advance for a party of 14. We had to sit at separate tables many of the nights. The couples in our group have cruised many times--we all will never sail on Norwegian again. The ship is only supposed to have 4300 passengers on board and one of the crew members told us there were 4800! I will admit I have sailed Disney 5 or 6 times and the customer service cannot be beat so sailing on Norwegian Epic was a big disappointment. We paid for the spa package and went everyday but the hot tub was only hot the first day, after that it was more like a warm bath. Very disappointing. Their island pales in comparison to Disney's castaway Cay...there are rocks everywhere in the water so you cant get out to the deeper water without navigating the dangerous rocks on the bottom amidst the sand and seaweed. They also charge you 39$ if you sit in a chair that has an umbrella--ridiculous. Read Less

First off, we were unable to locate anyone from NCL at airport to assist with luggage and prepaid transfer from the airport, Embarkation was ok. Getting on board no problems. The balcony cabin was strange to say the least. When you entered the cabin the toilet was on one side (with a translucent door and wall) and on the other side was the bathtub with just a shower curtain. Also the tub had a very high side, making it difficult to step into. The sink was located in the bedroom area, The cabin did have a lot of storage space, however. The specialty restaurants were a big disappointment compered to other NCL ships I have sailed on. Less of a selection on the menu. Food served warm and not hot. The ship did not have enough staff. Meals were slow to come out and after dinner the bars where packed and it took forever to get a drink even if you were sitting at the bar. My biggest complaint about the ship was the lack of elevators. Only two sets of elevators. One set far forward and one set far aft. It seemed like all you did was to walk back and forth all day. By the way, this walk always seemed to take you through the casino. The best thing about the cruise was the show "Priscilla Queen of the Dessert", Very professional, great cast, fantastic costumes.
