Getting into and through security was the easy part, everything after that was horrible food was cold, pool area was crowded, they never cleaned our cabin but wanted to charge a service fee per person $116 for four days. All activities and shows were always booked no matter what time of day. We only went to one island given we were to stop at 2 in total. Being on the water for 3 days out of our 4 day cruise was crap. The only thing good was being able to sleep. Getting off the ship disembarkation omg was horrible we woke up at 6 to be off at least by 730am we got delayed because of customs and waited in line for over 3 hours to get off the ship. No staff was available to help with line situations people were arguing the whole time. This was my first cruise and by far the worst experience ever. I will never book another cruise at least through Norwegian. Just horrible. Read Less

We choose this cruise as our family vacation for the year. We enjoy beach type vacations and have enjoyed cruises in the past. We choose the Epic because it looked like it had a lot to offer our whole family. Unfortunately, we could not have been more wrong. The ship was severally under staffed. Everything had massive time consuming lines. For example, the boat offered 3 water slides, but they typically only ran 2 at a time because they didn't have enough staff to run them all at the same time. We only saw the rock wall open twice and both times it had huge lines. The climbing tower and trampoline never opened. The 2 small pools were extremely overcrowded. The sprinkler system that was supposed to offer splash pad type of setting was broken. They only had about 15 tubes out for the tube slide, which resulted in another huge line. I watched a teenager pass out waiting for a tube. The cruise medics took more than 30 minutes to respond. This was the 3rd time that I have been on a Norwegian cruise, and the 3rd time that I was disappointingly informed that the sea was too rough to get on the tender boats. It was a beautiful day with very calm waters considering we were on an ocean. This resulted in an overcrowded boat with a insufficient staff and amenities. The staff did not seem too shocked as a few informed me that during the last 5 months, they only made it to the island 3 times. The cruise directer responded by offering a few additional activities, most of which required additional fees. The boat was also under construction and we were not informed that the massive rock wall would be unavailable for our cruise. The drinks seemed to be watered down. I weigh under 140 pounds and did not catch even the slightest buzz after drinking 20 mixed drinks (Miami Vices, BBCs, Mango Melt Downs). I am a lightweight when it comes to drinks and I did not feel any effects from these beverages. Boat departure took 3 hours, seriously 3 hours. We missed our shuttle to the airport and nearly missed flights. Once again the cruise director managed to find a place to let the blame fall; she went with port authorities this time. Although my friends managed to get off much quicker due to dumb luck and had no trouble with port authorities or customs. By the third day much of the boat smelled of septic. The other attractions such as Escape the Big Top and the Circus De Sol la booked very quickly and were nearly impossible to get into. The comedian on board made fun of guests to obtain pity laughs rather than relying on wit and originality. Much of the food on the buffet was cold and repetitive. They encourage hand washing, yet many of their bathroom sinks and soap dispensers would not work. I am very upset that our family wasted our vacation time and money on this horrible experience. Have been cruising for over 25 years and love it. NCL's Epic was the most horrible cruise we have ever been on. Waitingfor 40 minutes to get seated at the Teppanyaki restaurant with a reservation. Waited another 30 minutes till waiter takes drink order. Waited another 30 minutes till cook showes up. But that time I had gone to another restaurant and gotten food cause I was ready to faint from hunger. When I got back my boyfriend still hadnt seen a waiter. 45 minute wait at Sheenans to get a table. Waiter did not show up. Citwue de dream show. Table right away but no waiter for 30 minutes. Drinks at bar impossible to get. I am 62 years old and not into pushing. So no bartender would notice me asking for a drink. Last day leaving tg3e ship was a disaster. People pushing in the hallways. 4100 guests were told to leave tge cabin by 8am but were not aloud to get of board. For 3 hours we were pushed in the hallways when tgey announced the gate was changed to deck 5 where tge only way was to use gge escalator. Men were arguing throwing chairs babies crying. After 2 hours we finally saw some staff handing out water yo exhausted guests. We left our room at 7.30am and got of the ship at 10.28am. How do the do it when there is a fire? These were horrible conditions. Horrible Read Less

Door lock in suite had to be replaced at midnight one maint guy on duty had 3 jobs to do before us, took til 1am to fix. Over crowded could not find a place to layout on deck. Get a drink took 45 min before anyone would acknowledge us. Heard from many staff when asked for service...I'm going on break I will get someone else to help you and noone came back. Then delayed to get off ship almost missed our shuttle to parking lot. Horrible experience! I will stick with Celebrity and Royal Caribbean for cruises in the future. Highly disappointed & expected better than this. Stay away from this Norwegian cruise line! Unhappy & Angry Patron Read Less

We chose this cruise for the 2 ports in 4 days due to time constraints and to try one of NCL "larger ships" unfortunately the layout of the top deck (lido) is crammed, pools are small, the pool in the adult only did not even open on the sea day. Dining was very plain, the food was never changing at main dining and buffet. Both were just acceptable, not notworthy and I find it hard to understand how anyone could say the dining on this ship is outstanding. No choice for upgrades at the main dining rooms and not a lobster on any menu. Teppanyaki and sushi were very good, however, Cagney steakhouse was not better than anything I have had in main dining rooms on other ships. 105 minute wait for room service for cold pizza, undercooked grilled cheese and stale chips. I was never approached by waitstaff on deck for drinks; only able to wave down after several tries, then wait just as long as when I would get in line myself. The 30-50min. wait for drink service at both bars or by waitstaff on deck is unacceptable. I feel this is definitely due to the all included drink/gratuity package and will gladly pay for good service and drinks on my future cruises. From the time of emabarkation throughout the cruise the staff was unfriendly and most times projected unhappiness in addressing questions, concerns or plain hospitality. At the start, staff directed us to the wrong window then rudely orders us to move to another window, then blamed the other staff "stating she always sends people to wrong place" if so then why not address it instead of continuing to project errors over and over. Photographers were amature and did not even bother to tell us when bra straps were showing before taking pictures and we really are not happy with the unfriendly staff at the studio that were rude when we did not want all of the unprofessional looking poses that were taken, of course we still purchased some because we always do. Whenever asking staff questions around the ship most staff claimed they did not understand; the blank look of none caring was always present, never engaging. The second stop of cruise was canceled due to "weather" However after speaking with many other unhappy cruisers it was found out that the private island stop is almost always canceled, we would never have booked had we known. On the plus side, the entertainment including Howl at the moon, Priscilla queen of the desert and the band at the Cavern were all very good. Comedy show was fair. We did appreciate the cleanliness and abundance of available hand sanitizer stations. The best part was fast disembarkation. The room that we had was not what we had been shown upon reservation - it was supposed to be a large deck, never were we advised it would be all enclosed except window. The room is very odd in no privacy in bathroom or shower just frosted glass and sink in living quarter. We really wanted to enjoy this cruse but with all the fails, will never consider NCL again nor recommend. Read Less

A group of us that are Super fans from NFL teams chose to cruise to the Bahamas, Over all the experience was not great. Food was decent, but service was slow or non existent. Ship was clean but the crew did not seem friendly and seemed disinterested, They did not make you feel welcome. This did not include everyone, just the majority. We did find some that seemed to have fun and made you feel special. Our steward never seemed to materialize but the room was clean and presentable. This was just a very disappointing cruise. Food was as I said decent, Osheehans was our favorite. The buffet was goos as well and the Shanghai Noodle Bar was also one of our favorites. Debarkation was horrendous. No organization and there was major chaos. At this time I would not recommend Norwegian Cruise Lines and our plan is we will not be cruising with them again. I have been on 2 Carnival Ships, 1 Princess and 1 Royal Caribbean, All of those I would recommend. Read Less

I will start by saying that our cabin steward BJ was amazing! We had a great view from our AFT balcony stateroom. But overall the communication on the ship was poor. Unless they were trying to sell you something. Here is a list of what we did not like. 1. To get a drink in many cases take 45 minutes or more. This was true all over the ship for the entire cruise. 2. Getting to eat dinner could be a 1.5-hour wait in places. When we had reservations it was right on the money time wise. 3. There was NO information given on dis-embarcation to us at all. Our Steward told us to have our bags out before midnight for pick up. We did not see anyone set bags out in our area so we called the operator and she said that we should have had our bags out by 11:00 but that she would have someone come and get our bags. When we got up the next morning we found that our bags were still outside the door. 4. We went down with our bags when we were told we could. When we got off the elevator at 8:35 we were faced with a sea of people and lines everywhere with no rhyme or reason. We join in a line that was formed facing aft. After standing there for around an hour of not moving at all we were told by a staff member that the entire line needed to turn and head the other direction putting everyone who joined the line after us in front of us. As we are waiting for our time to come you could hear them still calling the people who had their bags picked up the night before. Which added to the confusion and mayhem. I was very concerned at several points because tempers were high and people started cutting in line and pushing people out of the way. I really thought that it could turn into a huge brawl. Luckily cooler heads prevailed. When they sent us that direction they sent us down an escalator with our bags and while we're heading down the traffic in front came to a complete stop because there was no more room. This was VERY dangerous! Thankfully a gentleman that was already off of the escalator reached over and stopped the escalator with the emergency stop button. We saw very little staff and what we did see were rushing through as quickly as possible. After everything was said and done we finally got off of the ship after 11:30. Read Less

My husband and I picked this for our 2nd year wedding anniversary. While we overall still had a nice time, the staff really didn't seem to be able to keep up or pay attention to the guests. Most of the bartenders we ran across seemed rather cranky and only half paying attention. I ordered 2 drinks at one point and my husband ordered 1. The bartender acknowledged all 3, then only brought back one and seemed annoyed at having to go make the other 2 when he asked again if I needed anything. There were also several occasions where food was ordered, took a good while then came to us incorrect. Either condiments missing or just completely wrong. I ordered a steak from cagneys medium with peppercorn sauce and it came well done with no sauce but by that time we had already waited a good while and I didnt feel like waiting any longer. My mother in law coincidentally ordered another cut of steak well done and it came medium rare the first time so she sent it back just to be put on for a little while longer and they brought back a fresh one that was even more rare than the first. Similar thing happened at osheens. ordered fries with a side of ranch. Fries came 30 minutes later with no ranch. Granted these are minor things but when it seems to happen every time several days in a row it can get rather discouraging. I think it all boils down to the staff being overwhelmed and therefore just throwing the stuff out there. It was all good food, dont get me wrong, but it's not always what we ordered and the portions were usually very small for the price. Entertainment on the other hand was top notch. We really enjoyed the comedians as well as the cirque dinner show and the teppenyaki hibachi restaurant. The pools...well...I'll never understand why they would only have 3 very small pools for people outside the haven to access on a cruise with 4 thousand people. Unless you wanted to sit on a stranger's lap you weren't getting in. Which was a bit disappointing but we found a nice set of lounge chairs on the deck near spice h20 to spend our time. I would say it's worth a shot if you have patience like I do. I rather enjoyed the cruise. But if you have limited patience like my mother in law, you'll really want to be careful of when you go because 2-3 bartenders in a crowd about 6 people deep all around the pool bar can be a bit painful. When we booked we were under the impression of alcohol/drink and specialty dining only to find out we didnt get it, after upgrading to a balcony room. They wouldnt upgrade just the package on ship and had to pay for all drinks. Had to wait at least 15 minutes even to get a drink unless a $5.00 was held out. Dining rooms were overbooked and crowded. Food at the main dining room was the same menu for all three days. The photographer took about 40 pictures and only 3 came out. Just be careful when you book. I will probably never cruise Norweign Cruise Line again. My first cruise with them was great and this one was not impressive at all. Please just read the fine print when booking your cruise, Thanks for reading and let the buyer beware!!! Read Less

Previously sailed on NCL Sun and loved it. Service on the Epic is extreme - either very good (in few cases) or really bad (most). Embarkation - the original woman checking us in was super bubbly and nice. However, her computer kept crashing, so we were passed off to another woman who seemed to be confused easily. As previous NCL cruisers, we were surprised that we wouldn't receive priority boarding (a rep we called before hand told us otherwise). When we mentioned this, the rep just said, "Well, they shouldn't have told you that." No apology or anything. Uh...okay. The ship itself is just gorgeous, impressive and clean. Ports of call were great. Loved Stirrup Cay (sting ray excursion was awesome). Food options on Stirrup Cay were delicious. It looks like they're in the process of building a zip line here, which looks fun. I would not do the upgraded dining package again - food is just as good or better in the buffet/dining rooms. We found service to be very slow in upgraded dining. The only one that I would return to again is Teppanyaki - just because the staff was amazing. The only late night dining options are Shenanigans or room service--horrible idea for a ship of this size!! What happened to late-night buffets?? Our kids were hungry after Splash, but Shenanigans said we couldn't take food out with us. When we asked the name of the hostess, she rudely replied, "It's Grace - do you want me to write that down for you??". Room service was never an option because they NEVER ANSWERED THE PHONE. Speaking of never answering, we had a horrible time reaching the operator throughout our cruise. Whenever we had a questions, we tried to call. Of all the times we called, we only had ONE answer. All of the other times, the phone just rang and rang. We only had one bag delivered to us the first day. After 7 pm (and no answer from service or operator), my husband went searching on his own. We were in the aft of the ship; he found 2 of our bags mid-ship and the last 2 were found on the forward. When he struggled to manage the 4 bags to the room on his own, a steward followed him down the hall with no offer to help at all. Because we were previous NCL cruisers, our bags were marked "priority" - which obviously did us no good at all! Casino staff was not overly friendly and didn't seem like they were having fun. (Note to staff: Dealers having fun = players having fun, gambling more and bigger tips!) We didn't have one memorable dealer this time at all. In the past, we've had dealers who happily instruct if you don't know how to play a game. Our friend joined us the first night on Ultimate Hold Em - rather than instruct him, the dealer griped at him the whole time, even though he hadn't played before (our table wasn't even full). Our kids are at a difficult age for Splash Academy (10 and 12). They've typically loved the kids' programs in the past, but I think it was just an age thing this time. The 12 year old was bored and the 10 year old didn't enjoy it much either. It would be nice if the Dolphins had more challenging, age-appropriate activities than those presented on this cruise. The Splash staff seemed pretty nice and fun - certainly better than the Carnival kid staff we've had before. Cirque/Comedy Entertainment on this ship was not appealing to us. We did enjoy Howl at the Moon and the Art Auction. We probably would have enjoyed more entertainment options if dinner had not taken so long each night. Overall, I'd likely seek out a Norwegian cruise again--just because we previously had an excellent trip on the Sun. Perhaps going back to a smaller ship would give us the service that we had come to expect on NCL. Read Less

We chose the 3 day Bahama cruise as an add on to our usual spring training trip. We have cruised before on Holland America and this was a big disappointment compared to our Holland cruise. On line reviews of the Epic highlight many of the Epic's downfalls, I will add only several more. Only 1 electrical outlet in our mini suite room, under the counter where the coffee maker was located. Down on your knees to plug in a phone charger. Most cruise ships have a large viewing area at the front of the ship where you can sit and lounge, drink coffee look out. Not the Epic. The food in the main upper level area was average. Short bed. My wife and I were most disappointed in the entertainment that NCL offered. As a married couple(man and woman) with traditional values, the "Priscilla, the drag queen" and "Dance" productions were both heavily promoting sexual content. We sat for about 5 minutes of the "Priscilla" and left. My wife and I will choose another cruise line in the future and not recommend NCL to our other friends. Read Less

I choose this cruise because of it's name and also destination. Well we were 2 adults and 2 children. This was the smallest room ever, no room for anything, we had to walk over the beds to get to the door, oh and by the way the shower and toilet were between the door and the beds. Weird. Also, the only pool for adults was super small and stunk like a dirty bar, and the so called main pool was the same size as the adults only pool (this was spring break, ship packed) and the only full day at sea, the pool had to be emptied because it was dirty. So no one was able to swim. Also, the main reason for my complaint is the alcohol package that we purchased. On day one it took over 40 minutes to get a drink, no matter what you wanted. So, by the time you got off line you needed to get back in line no time to relax. On the second day in the Bhaamas where it was the Norwegian Beach, same thing over 35 minutes to get a drink, no one could enjoy the sun or relax!! This was the worst cruise ever!!!!! Read Less

The service on this cruise was awful due to lack of experienced staff pitched in to a spring break environment. It was the same on the private island cruise stop in fact it was even worse. The customer service were not interested and seemed to be resigned to this. The food was continuously served up cold and you literally had to fight your way in to the bars to get a drink and then attract the attention of one of the bar staff if you could at all. I would have thought NCL knowing the timing would have compensated by increasing their staff numbers. We hand drinks packages to which they added service charges prior to departure which is a cheek when the service is as poor as this. We also had specialist restaurants package which we could not access because they had been fully booked before we got on the ship again I assume with service charges added to the cruise account. This was most annoying since it was the major reason for booking this cruise. The prices on board were extortio so beware if you sail without the packages. This is the second time we have been on this ship and our first experience was similar. In conclusion not the best cruise we have been on by far. Read Less

This was our second Norwegian Cruise- the first was on Norwegian Sky which was a terrible experience as well but we blamed the weather for the most part. We have been on almost a dozen of other cruises between Carnival & the most recent on the Royal Caribbean Allure of the Seas. We thought we would give Norwegian a second chance on the Epic- which looked like an amazing ship! 2 days into the cruise and my husband and I decided it would be our last Norwegian Cruise! Getting on the boat was just like every other cruise- we were on by 12-1pm. There was no entertainment by the pools- not a dj not a band. The Sail away party was a complete bust! There wasn't one!! There was a small space in between the 2 pool bars and the deck to walk through into the buffet area which was always a hassle to get through- especially with 2 children under the age of 10. Moving onto the inside of the boat- which was very nice! Always clean- however the staterooms were the size of a walk-in closet- and that may be exaggerating a touch. You walked into the room and to your left was the shower with a frosted glass door and to your right was the toilet with a frosted glass door as well- the sink which was no bigger than 12" wide was at the end of your bed! Super weird!! You had to take turns walking through the room because two people could not fit through the end of the bed and the cupboard/dresser area at the same time. These were by far the smallest rooms we have ever seen! There was definitely not enough storage for 4 people! Our stateroom was a balcony and we have never stayed in a interior room but I have to believe there are interior rooms bigger than this balcony room! The entertainment on this boat was good- I was very impressed with the amount of different music blends. However there was hardly any entertainment by the poolside! No activities by the pool and very rarely was there a dj or band. The bar service on this boat was AWFUL! If you tried to get a drink by one of the two pool side bars you would wait for atleast a half an hour! There was hardly any waiters throughout the pool deck offering drink service. This was our last Norwegian cruise- never again!! Read Less

We were hoping for an awesome on-board experience on this short, 3-night voyage from Port Canaveral. However, summing up our overall experience in two words: Very Average. First, expect long embarkation lines - extremely long, if the ship is sold out as our's was. Virtually no NCL personnel were in sight to direct travelers upon arrival, or answer arrival general questions, until we entered the terminal for security screening. After on-boarding, we noticed our mini-suite (12073) was smaller than expected, but otherwise reasonably comfortable. One problem for taller passengers is the length of the bed. I'm slightly taller than 6 feet and both of my feet dangled off the edge of the bed. Despite NCL's $5 Billion in annual revenue and its huge marketing and advertising budget, more needs to be spent by NCL on upgrading their customer-facing staff. More than 50% of our encounters with NCL's pre-boarding and on-board staff were disappointing. The remaining 50% were OK. Lots of blank looks on the faces of NCL crew when responding to the simplest questions. NCL's stop at the private island was nice. The BBQ on the island was superb. But, the tendering process to and from the island is awkward, and cumbersome. Again, very long lines. Overall, we recommend choosing a smaller ship with fewer passengers and, more importantly, a different cruise line. You'll likely have a better overall experience and save yourself the 20% NCL price premium compared with other large competitors. Read Less

We chose this cruise because friends were going. The whole experience was unfortunate. When we first boarded we tried to add the $71 liquor package that Edgard, the travel consultant had said we could get. He told us we could add 2 of this package for our stateroom. We didn't book ahead of time because of the storm and not being certain we would make it to the ship. He assured us we could sign up when we got on the boat. Several people told us they would try to get us the package but in the end we were just strung along. They were supposed to reach out to us by the end of the first night and we never heard anything. Again on the second day we heard nothing and had to find her again only to be told they still had no news or offers for us. We were passed through several different people and NEVER got any help or offers. I don't like being LIED TO repeatedly! We were totally misled and screwed out of the package we were promised. Next, there needs to be some sort of warning when spring break is going to greatly impact the vacation of your passengers. The amount of inappropriate behavior was overwhelming, the kids on spring break ALL had the drink package hmmmm. We couldn't get near several bars, couldn't get near a pool or hot tub. It was totally unacceptable. The 15th deck was impassable during the day and out of control with drunken kids being disorderly. Not only did we have to witness it during the day but they then aired it on the TV in the rooms! REALLY?? Bumping and grinding is not something to advertise or promote! I understand we can't control the weather but when a destination can't happen, something else should be offered so passengers have something else to do onboard, Animal towel folding doesn't cover it. Taking away movies and activities isn't right either. It would also have been helpful to know if we weren't going to be able to tender to an island so we could have planned our day differently and not crammed into the dining rooms with 4,000 other people. A little time for planning goes a long way. Lastly, disembarkation was a disaster! The lines were absurd! There was no order or information. I'm sure there is a better way to stagger the easy walk offs. I traveled with my mom and sister and we are very easy going people but this upset us all and we feel like we got taken advantage of. Norwegian makes you select an arrival time which really serves no purpose. It was a hugh cattle call and very long lines. Took us over 2 hours to go through the line to check in. Luggage was not delivered to our room until after dinner. We booked this cruise and we choose the upgraded meal package and unlimitied bar drinks. We only got to use 1 of the upgraded meals beacuse all of the restaurants were completely booked by the time we boarded the ship. The unlimited bar drinks were very hard to come by due to a very small wait staff on the deck area and then we found out if you ordered a frozen drink, you had to ask for the alcohol to be added. The food in normal restaurants was cold and very slow service.Spring breakers made the cruise even more unbearable. On the pool deck the hot tubs were filled by them sitting in them all day, not allowing other passengers the opportunity to use the. No cruise staff asked them to leave even while there were 15 or more in a tub with a 6 person capacity. Getting of the ship was just as bad as getting on. Only 2 custom officers checking IDs. About an hour to get off and this is what Norwegian called Easy Off. Weather was bad (not Norwegian's fault) so we were only able to make 1 port of call, a day late. Best thing Norwegian did was that they were able to rescue the passenger who fell overboard on our return to Port Canaveral. After an hour search she was found floating and in stable condition. Will not travel on Norwegian again. Too many problems. Read Less

Wanted larger ship so adult children would have lots of activities. One preferred carnival, one preferred celebrity and another stated they would probably not cruise again. Indoor space was very dark. Upscale restaurants as well as dining room the food was not up to par based on other Norwegian ships. Staff were too busy to be friendly and others were quite unfriemdly. Not usual for Norwegian. Tendering to ports was very slow and unorganized. Elevators were hot and very little airflow as well as being very dark. Dining is supposed to be freestyle but unless you made reservation in main dining room it was very difficult to get seated until quite late at night. The ship is so crowded it is very difficult to partake in any activities. Karaoke was poorly done with music speeding up and slowing down in the middle of the song. All in all very disappointing experience. Read Less

Was looking forward to a relaxing time with my family. Unbeknownst to us, Norwegian Cruise Line had offered a reduced rate including unlimited alcohol to the University of Florida students. Our ship was overtaken by 3000 drunk college students. We could not enjoy the pool area or really any public area on the ship as there were crowds of loud, drunk, scantily clad college students everywhere. Our cabin was comfortable and the workers were all very polite and accommodating. Considering it was such a huge ship, the dining rooms though crowded at times managed to serve good food. The shows we attended were also very good. We missed one of our two ports of call because of rough seas. The one port Nassau was as expected, nothing extraordinary, but a respite from the ship. It is very difficult to have a positive attitude regarding this cruise as we spent most of our time in our cabin. I would never cruise with NCL again nor could I recommend it. Read Less

Service is incredibly slow - from bars to the specialty dining. At times I wanted to get up and leave my table or jump over the bar and serve myself. Meals that should have taken 1.5 hours at most took over 3 hours. Even then, food came out cold or improperly cooked. The descriptions of the meals in the menus is not what was served, specifically in La Cucina (Italian). By far the worst experience on the trip. The bartenders only seem to serve who is yelling in their face. They take their sweet time making every drink. No way would they be hired as a bartender at an actual bar. They would never make any tips! Bartenders are also demeaning. They make fun of drink orders but not in a joking way. The cabins are nice and the other staff were friendly. Because we were stuck at sea, we didn't have a chance to explore and excursions. Read Less

We were encouraged to accompany a friend on the cruise--a milestone birthday celebration. And one member in our party also ran into a former work colleague. As such, we always enjoyed great company during our cruise, falling into a regular schedule to meet for meals, sunbathing, happy hours, and evening entertainment. Having previously cruised on other lines, we really enjoyed NCL's variety of meals (package-deal buffets, readily available thru the day, package-deal restaurants, etc.) and especially the flexible timing for dining (no assigned "early vs. late" shifts). We also opted for the drink package, again enjoying the variety offered (especially as the rougher Nor'easter seas nixed our island stop and delayed our Nassau day-in-port). As such, the variety of beverages and locations of bars made our days at sea quite relaxing. Speaking of the drink package, we found our mixologist, Vladimir, to be a most cordial and talented server thruout the cruise. Also adding entertainment to our review, guitarist/vocalist Ben was a nightly treat for us (especially his tributes to Tom Petty and the Rolling Stones). I regret I didn't get the names of our servers in that centrally-located bar, but they also were first-rate, especially in so promptly serving the many patrons who likewise were there for Ben's sets. And per the reports it spawned, the ship's Captain and crew are to be highly commended for their handling of the final evening's challenging recovery at sea. In short, we definitely recommend NCL and look forward to return cruises with the line, thanks. Read Less

Just got off Epic 3/11/17.....good and bad, but doubt I will ever sail again on it. Port Canaveral check in process - there were two people checking ID's and cruise documents downstairs/outside the actual terminal. TWO checking in 4,000 people. And then one lady decided she was going to abandon her line to go help an elderly man that fell on the escalator, instead of letting the four other employees take care of the situation. So that left our line with nobody to check our ID's and cruise documents. Someone had to actually "suggest" to the other employee about alternating people from each line so we could ALL get thru security. Hmmm, someone had to actually suggest that. Anyway moving on.... Security check - went much quicker and out of the 5 cruises I have been on my sealed, packaged 6 pack of Zephyrhills water was confiscated, so don't try even try it. The water on the boat, Evian, is $6.50 a bottle, and there is no "free" bottled water like on RCCL. Only the stuff that is in the large water dispensers you'll find around the bars. Yes, I am aware that no outside beverages are allowed, however, I have managed to bring my own water on every cruise and get thru security without an issue. Checking in - no problem there, seemed to go quickly. Casino - if you like to gamble, I prefer slots but they have quite a bit of tables. 90% of the slot machines are pennies, which I don't do. I think I found literally about 7 quarter machines and the rest $1 and $5. And the selection of machines, terrible. Food - good selection, better than the THREE RCCL cruises I have been on and never had an issue with food running out and people waiting around for it to be refilled, as I did on Oasis of the Seas. We ate at the Noodle Bar, no complaints. There are also food stations set up outside the buffet area where you enter the pool area on Deck 15. There is a food station at Spice H2O. There is O'Sheehan's which has a very limited menu and was ALWAYS packed. Don't do the whole dining room or specialty dining thing so I can't comment on that. On both NCL cruises I have been on I have never found anyplace where you can get a quick cup of coffee or snacks that are free, like at the Cafe' Promenade on RCCL's. NCL has the Atrium Café where everything is for a $$. And there is NO complimentary coffee set up on the counter. I did learn that NCL charges "tax" on your drinks while still in port (don't know about the food). We had beverage packages and were surprised to see all the charges on my account that night when I checked. And before anyone gets in an uproar about this and how "in FL there is a sales tax that is mandatory...blah, blah, blah" I am very aware of the sales tax in this state, I have lived here my entire life. HOWEVER, this being my 5th cruise and 2nd on Norwegian, I have never been charged sales tax on any alcoholic drink I have consumed while in port. And I still have all my previous cruise statements to prove that. And they also charge sales tax on their island, Great Stirrup Cay, again another shocker since RCCL Coco Cay is directly across from this island and they DO NOT charge sales tax on their island. Go figure. We did enjoy the two shows we saw, Priscilla Queen of the Desert (not a kids show at all), and Burn the Floor. Glow Party - ehhhh. I felt like I was on a non-stop rerun of the Jersey Shore with the techno fist-pumping music that they played. Every song sounded exactly the same. So, there you go. Would I cruise Epic again? Most likely not. I enjoyed Oasis of the Seas much better. I will also add, the NCL crew is much friendlier that RCCL. Everyone acknowledges you with a Good Morning or a Hello. That never gets old. My mother in law chose this cruise as part of her "bucket list". She wanted her children & spouses, grandchildren, & great-grandchildren to go on a cruise together at least one time. She made all the arrangements. There were 17 of us that went. We docked at Nassau on third day at sea and were able to explore the island. We were suppose to leave later that day to a private island, but the captain said the weather was not safe to go there. So needless to say, we stayed docked at Nassau until the following day. For those who haven't been to Nassau, don't bother getting off the ship. Yes, the water is beautiful, but the people there haggle you to no end. They put jewelry on you as you try to walk, even though you didn't ask for it, then expect you to pay for it. My family and I didn't feel safe at all. There were men standing between buildings with their arms crossed over their chest, staring us down. At one point they were several of them arguing on who was going to get our attention first. It was very unsettling and scary. I wouldn't recommend venturing out unless your on an excursion with a group of people. I will never get off another ship if it's docked in Nassau! We just felt lucky that we made it to the ship alive! We were not compensated in any way for not being able to go to the private island. We basically went to Nassau and that was it! What a terrible first impression! It was a HUGE disappointment!! The least they could of done was have drinks half off, or even better, they could have given a discount for a future cruise. But no, they offered nothing! I felt like we payed to see the private island, but got ripped off. I understand that the weather can't be helped, but for goodness sake, reimburse a portion of the fee that was paid to them, or give some kind of incentive/compensation. People that were in the shuttle leaving the port were also talking about how terrible the cruise was for them. This was a ship built for partying and gambling. The positive things that I can say about this ship is that they had a great selection of food, the dining room on floor 15 was fabulous, and the staff was friendly. Also, the show Burning the Floor and the comedy show were fantastic! The guy who cleaned our cabin was always pleasant with a smile on his face and never failed to have our room cleaned everyday (thank you Biency). We did stay at the Radisson hotel in Port Canaveral before and after our cruise. We were very pleased with our room there and would highly recommend staying there. I think we will try a different cruise line next time! Read Less

The good: Getting on and off the boat great job Norwegian! we had the free drink package and Meal upgrade with our cruise, this was really nice and the food at the upgraded restaurants was awesome! The shows that we were able to make were really good maybe the best that we had seen on a ship. The Bad: The rooms, read my comment below about the rooms. Getting to the bars because of everybody having the drink package was almost impossible a lot of times especially around the pool. The food in the main dining area was a little below average to me. It also didn't seem like the boat had enough activities going on at the same time so people were crowded into certain areas at the same time so it felt like the boat was always very crowded. My opinion: If you're wanting a cruise to drink a lot, good food and to just to carry you from port to port you can't beat this Cruise. If you were looking for activities maybe having kids alone with you or you would like to do things on the boat then I would say choose another Cruise Line or different ship. Read Less
