This was my third NCL cruise in as many years, on the third class of ship - Epic being by far the biggest of the three (Jade and Star being the other two)....and that, frankly, was the key issue - and this was a concern amongst MANY of my fellow NCL passengers cruising on Epic for the first time. The 'smaller' ships (if a 2000+ pax ship can be called small) all have the excellent NCL range of speciality restaurants....Epic was no different in range, however the restaurants were not scaled-up sufficiently for a 4100 pax ship; as a result the restaurants were booked days in advance. Similarly, the a la carte complimentary dining rooms (Taste & Manhattan) were very good, but there was regularly an hour's wait for a table - this is OK when you have planned for it and have the time to while away in the bar, but not good if you are aiming to get to one of the evening shows. The enduring memory from the ship is that it is configured not for families (ie kids) but rather for revenue generation....for example:, an entire deck of this monster vessel was dedicated to the casino and the key selling points (ie the ice bar, circus etc) were all at additional cost. The other key points, such as the HUGE aft screen, were totally underutilised and only served to provide the world's biggest parasol for the suntan deck! The standard NCL good 'bits', ie service/cabins/packages etc, were as you would find on any NCL ship....therefore, you should discount them from your decision process regarding what ship to choose. Therefore, your decision is simply do you want to sail on a ship as big as this (with the port limitations that it brings) and sample the 'extras', albeit at extra cost? For me the answer is simple, the 'extras' did not offset the issues created by the ship having more pax than the facilities could cater for. NCL remains a favorite, simply because of the freedom of dining - but because you get that on ANY NCL cruise, Epic didn't add any extra 'value'. Ultimately, this was a really disappointing cruise on what should have been the star of the fleet....of course the cruise was saved by the outstanding destinations visited each day - unfortunately, the ship was simply the transport that got us there. Shouldn't it have been sooo much more? Read Less

We chose this through Diamond Resorts (Timeshare). We have previously cruised with P&O a few times. We found the entertainment about the best we've seen onboard and, whilst still very good, we found things not as good as our experience with P&O. Food good, but not as good as we've had, quality of service/waiting staff again not as good as we've known but it wasn't bad. The pricing for alcohol on this cruise is astronomical but you are offered a package that 'saves you money'. We spent about £700 for 2 adults to have unlimited sodas, wine by the glass and 330ml bottled beer for our 7 day cruise, it would have cost us half this on our other cruises ($9 for a glass of wine explains why!). We couldn't take food/drink on board so we are always forced to use their packages. Don't get me wrong it was a great cruise but it always felt like we had an opportunity to burn money at astronomical levels, something we'd not experienced on other cruises. The excursion to Rome cost the same as a 3 day city break found online easily enough - with pricing like that we chose to stay on board and enjoy some of the benefits of being on board...we'll stroll through Rome later in the year, stay there longer and have a much better experience that being hauled through such a unique place at blistering pace! I know most cruises take the mickey on their excursion prices but the pricing on this cruise we did find pretty OTT. The poor rating was entirely for pricing. Would I consider NCL again? Only if it included their Ultimate Drinks Package, which I gather Brits are now being offered as standard. We want to pay up front for a cruise, not find on board that there are several 'pay more' options to actually get what you'd expected all along. Sorry for not concentrating on the positives, of which there were many, but I felt like I was at Las Vegas on this cruise - I'd never have enough money to fully enjoy it to the max. I prefer something with more 'je ne sais quoi' and to feel a bit special. I suppose and I didn't see it so much on this cruise. The people who appreared to be having the best time were families. Kids appeared to be having a cracking time onboard, leaving the adults plenty of time to do their own thing. Read Less

This was our second trip to Europe which starting from Sweden, this time I was traveling with my sister. We traveled 3 weeks prior to sailing the NCL EPIC from Barcelona. We had $60 onboard credit that the travel agent told us could be used onboard. We ordered 12 bottles of water and 2 cans of soft drinks from the minibar. Their customer service on board also confirmed we could use our onboard credit to order bottles of water and/or purchase at the mini bar. However, they charged us US$46 on my credit card for the 12 bottled water and US$22.14 for two cans of soft drinks. We requested the refund but they just refunded $10 to us. Very frustrated was the housekeeping guy always knocking the door at night. He called my desk phone if I was unable to open the door(facial time), he kept ringing my desk phone even after 10 PM asking if we need anything, the main reason was asking for tips as we gave him the first 2 days. He wouldn't provide us the next day activities notice if we didn't give him tips. We saw other guesses received the activities notice posted on their doors. Also the free 250 internet minutes part of the promotion offer was waste of money as we couldn't connect to the internet from the cabin at all. I enjoyed cursing but won't recommend NCL to my family & friends. Read Less

Being the first time we had tried a cruise we were delighted with the Epic and the whole experience. Balcony cabin had ample storage space and cannot fault the cleanliness of it and the whole ship. Had previously read about the small beds as they are rounded which was not a problem for us as we are not tall but could see how they would be uncomfortable for anyone who is. Embarkation at Barcelona could have been explained better as we had to just follow other cruisers who had done it all before. Queues for checking in were big and it looked like lots of passengers used it like guest services asking lots of questions, should have been a different area to deal with this. Although the ship offers freedom dining we booked our restaurants and tables well in advance to save having to wait in line. Booking ahead was definitely a plus as we always had a great table with fabulous views so I would advise to try this. Choose the ultimate drinks package and 3 meal speciality dining options which again were great choices and meant we were not looking at a big bills at the end of our cruise. Although dress code was more casual we like other passengers choose to dress up to get the best out of our evenings and felt this made a difference for us. Did notice that there were more choice of on shore excursions on offer onboard which was unfair to those of us who had booked before arriving. Tip we found useful was ordering the continental breakfast on excursion days which saved time having to leave your cabin to eat as you have to leave really early. Entertainment was first class and spent many nigthts in the Cavern club which was always packed which was mostly due to the great group Siglo who were amazing. Pricilla Queen of the Dessert show was fabulous and the magician was also great. Will definitely be cruising with NCL again. Read Less

Overall a great experience, best of all was the Epic Beatles, and all the entertainment onboard. Make sure you do not miss the shows. The only con about the vessel I found is that I had to change my dining habits or I'd miss the entertainment onboard. Cabin was wonderful, for us the bathroom worked great, there is no lack of intimacy and 2 or more people can use it at the same time as the sink, the WC and the shower are separated. The bed was very confortable but kind of short. I loved the iTV all over the ship where you are able to make reservations or see what is happening onboard. Best pool area is H2O, quiet and confortable, just for adults. I'm a smoker and smoking areas are good placed, the humidor is a confortable room, great place to relax or have a conversation with other travelers, you'lll end up knowing most of the smokers onboard! Crew was very good and friendly. I'd go again on this ship withouth any doubt. For the ports off call I did not like that when in Livorno you cannot walk to the city, you have to take the shuttle and is 5 euro per person. Read Less

We chose this cruise because it was an easy way to travel around Europe and not have to pack/unpack, etc. We saw A LOT! We spent 5 days in Rome first, then boarded the ship there (you can board in either Rome OR Barcelona). We arrived at 11:30am and walked right on the ship! No lines at all!! Our room was ready, and had a mini suite on Deck 11. Mid ship.. Great room... Love the layout, etc.. The next day it was a little rough, so we were not able to pull into Florence. That was fine, for we were all exhausted from Rome for 5 days! The only problem with doing Europe on this ship is that you don't really get a lot of time on the ship because of wanting to see all the ports. We then stopped in Cannes (be sure to book your tender when you get onboard). We hired a private tour to take us to Eze, Monte Carlo, and Cannes, and this was great!! The next day was Mallorca, and we did the cruise excursion on the train to Soller, and that was also great.. We then went to Barcelona, and booked the "skip line" tour at the Sagrada, which I would recommend! We then walked around La Rambla and ate at a great spot off the beaten path for Paella and Sangria. The next day is a sea day, which was GREAT! Then, final day we had a private driver to Sorrento, Positano and Amalfi, which was awesome! Be sure to see the dueling pianos! They were FABULOUS! We also got the drink package which was great (included grey goose martinis, and most all drinks)! The ship is EXTREMELY well laid out for a VERY large ship. Lots of smaller dining, and entertainment, so you never feel like you are in a big crowd! I was surprised at how I never had to wait in line.. Would highly recommend this trip! Great stops.. we had 2 families (4 adults and 4 kids ages 19-21). The kids would say it was fun too, not the same feel as probably a carnival cruise in the Caribbean. They did meet people their age. As usual, too much to do, and not enough time to do it all... food was excellent... I have cruised before on Disney, Royal Caribbean- Explorer of the Seas, and Norwegian Wind (years ago, ship not there anymore). All of these lines are great, and I do like the freestyle cruising. Not as stressed to rush back and get dressed. Overall a great trip! Read Less

Good Points: amazing food, recommend the Brazilian food, well worth the money. very clean everywhere, staff are constantly cleaning. Evening show- Priscilla queen of the desert was hilarious and well worth seeing. pools were warm Bad points: my partner has done over 20 cruises, and found this cruise not to be up to the quality of others, as many other people on the ship also found. Many trips are cancelled, due to not enough participation, so ideally arrange your own trips to avoid disappointment. Trips are also incredibly expensive. When the cheaper trip we booked on to was cancelled as on a ship of 4000 passengers, not 20 wanted to take part, the less than helpful staff advised we book a more expensive trip (over $100 more each) without any compensation. Ship has a strange lay out, the atrium feels like some seats on the edge of a corridor, there is not many windows, there are 2 tiny pools surrounded by a wet play area and no large pool anywhere, which was very disappointing as I was looking forward to swimming. queued for over 2 hours to get on board the ship at the start of the holiday, where in my partner's previous experience you are straight on board and greeted with juice or champagne, which we were not. No welcome music or anything either. Sail away party was also disappointing. On attending the canvas painting activity, as 8 people were there, there was no more room for anyone else, could have been held in a larger space as many people were turned away. We took part in a photoshoot session on board, they took beautiful pictures, however the cost for a memory stick of the photos was over $1200 dollars, which we were not informed of until we had had all pictures taken and seen them all. There was no option to buy any less than 15 photos which on a memory stick was well over $500. This is outrageously priced for a memory stick, and we dread to think what a canvas would have cost. This was my first ever cruise, and my partners first time on the EPIC. We picked it as it was a large ship and we thought it would be a great experience for my first cruise. It was however, disappointing, and in future we will not be cruising with Norwegian. Read Less

Have cruised on the Epic many times. An interestng itinerary with good ports of call. 6 in total with 1 sea day.The main reason we cruise on this ship is because the SIGLO band is on board. 4 x Filipino guys, all super talented. Can play any type of music, ballads rock and pop, whatever you want. They play in the Cavern Club each night and really rock the place.Althugh I have heard good reviews about Priscilla Queen of the Desert, Howl at the Moon and Burn the Floor, Siglo are the band to see, we go to the Cavern every night and would not go anywhere else. As regards cruise value my husband and I personally do not like the premium all inclusive package that NCL have just imposed on Brits and Europeans but unfortuanately no option when you book, regardless of who you book with. The prem all incl means that tips are included at $13.50 a day each. We never used to pay these as we always take US dollars with us and tip who we want throughout the cruise. Also as part of the deal each member of your party gets 2 x 1 litre bottle of water per day so for 2 of you on a 7 day trip you get 14 litres of water. You are no longer allowed to bring your own bottled water or soft drinks purchased ashore on board. The daft thing is you could take some of this water from NCL ashore with you at each port but on returning to the ship you have to ditch it if you havent drunk it all. As stated we accept the prem all inclusive as no other option and keep coming back on the Epic only because of Siglo. If they were moved to another NCL ship we would cruise on that one. As regards cabins we used to book balconies but now because of price we book inside. We always book a guarantee inside and are usually allocated a cabin on deck 10. No problem with cabin athough we prefer toilet, shower and basin to be together not separate. However it is only the Epic that is like this, other NCL ships have the usual separate room. Inside cabins a good size, plenty of room, we find balcony cabins a bit cramped especially as we have the beds split into 2 singles. Not much room between the bottom of the bed and the table area etc. One of the best value restaurants on board is the Modereno with a cover charge of $24.99 each but is worth it. Variety of starters- help yourself and all types of meat and chicken served to you until you say no. Also a good selection of desserts. Food is well presented and hot. We mainly dined in the Garden cafe each day which offers a good selection of food, To stop your food going cold whlst you go to the different food stations and before you get back to your table, cover your plate with another plate. I know this sounds simple but it really works and keeps your food hot. O Sheenans bar is also good for food, good selection and food served hot. No problems with any of the crew on board, always found them helpful and polite. Did not use spa or fitness suite. Read Less

We flew into Barcelona, Spain (the departure point for our cruise) one day prior to departure. I would recommend this, as it gave us a chance to get acclimated to the time change and rest up from our long flight. Checking in to the ship and embarking was easy and flawless. The line was long, but moved along quickly. A souvenir photo was taken and then we went on board. The first impression of our aft facing balcony cabin (#9294) was 'wow', this is going to be great! This was our first cruise ever, and the Norwegian Epic was truly...Epic! The food, the staff, the stateroom...everything was awesome! Everyone was very friendly and always asked how everything was going. We will absolutely be back for another Norwegian cruise in the future. After returning from long days of shore excursions, we were greeted by the Norwegian staff passing out cold wet towels and refreshments. There was even some music and dancing upon our return. We chose to 'self disembark' and although we were sad to leave the ship, there were plenty of taxi cabs waiting to transport the guests to their next destination. This was our first cruise experience, but it will not be our last! We're already talking about another 'Epic' cruise from their winter port in Cape Canaveral, FL - just a couple of hours North of our home. We highly recommend Norwegian, as we had a great experience! We chose this cruise as it started in Barcelona (so under two hours flight time from the UK) We really wanted to visit the historic sites of Pompeii via Naples, Pisa, Rome, the Old Market in Antibes in Cannes and the mountain village of Soller in Majorca. We hoped that being in the Med the sea would be calm and it would be lovely and warm in late May (which it was). The views from your balcony and deck were breathtaking and the sea was so calm, you would never know that you were on a ship. I just loved the fact that each night you go to sleep and wake up in another city or country! We did loads of excursions which were so well organised, but not 'over organised' and really enjoyed them all. They are expensive if you book via the ship, but being our first cruise, we did not have the confidence to do it independently. The ship is HUGE, which was good as just seemed to absorb the thousands of passengers with ease - it never felt too busy except on some occasions in the main 'garden cafe' buffet (but don't worry as there are so many other places to eat - you can always avoid the crowds). Do try the speciality restaurants like Moderna, Cagneys and Japanese (did not think the food was as good in Japanese, but entertainment value was great). Make sure you see the shows - we saw 'Burn the Floor' and a 'Beatles' tribute band. They were first rate and got standing ovations. Cannot praise the staff enough, they work so hard and are so friendly and polite and really try to make your stay as good as it can be. Everywhere was spotlessly clean. Gym is fantastic (WOW what views). Try the crepes in the evening on deck (I loved the Nutella ones). Beds are really comfortable & loads of space for clothes etc. We all loved the cruise. Read Less

Travel Connections travel agent Nanette Campbell suggested this as our group's next ideal vacation; a bargain for the value received. Most everything was GREAT on this cruise ship. We would like to offer the following for improvement: 1) Due to the pricing we found it a better value to book our excursions thru an outside firm, Viator, and that was a good move. 2) We left the ship everyday to explore the various ports as we had never before been to any of them, but were disappointed at the lack of a variety of things to do on board after dinner in the evening such as interactive games(how about evening bingo)/entertainment in the theatres and the late night entertainers provided (NO HEADLINERS). 3) Our only true negative was this: There was very poor effort made in providing information regarding the tenders at the Cannes port. We had a trip booked with Viator and nearly missed it due to the early tenders being fully booked. No where did our group of 6 cruise veterans see where there was a limit to who could get off the ship and board a tender at a certain time. There were small notes on days 1, 5 and 6 reminding you to reserve a spot on a tender. In the end, we made it as stand-bys, but no one, absolutely no one was showing any interest in our possible dilemma. All this being said we would promote this trip to anyone we know and advise them how to avoid any issues we had. Read Less

We belong to RCI travel club, they recommended this cruise. We have been on several cruises before and this by far has been the worse. The food was inferior and the choices of food was not good, if you didn't like pizza or pasta most days you were out of luck. There was not much variation of food. Seems like every other day the menu was the same. The service was mediocre at best, the entertainment was practically none. You had to make reservations for any of the shows you wanted to see which was very inconvenient. There were not enough lounges with comfortable seating and affordable drinks to just relax and enjoy some grown up music. The price of a glass of wine being $10.00 is just not affordable. Seems most of the emphasis was on gambling and smoking. This was not an enjoyable cruise for us, this is the second one on Norwegian and will be our last. Read Less

We had been with them before, and always liked NCL because of the way they had different options, you could be smart or casual? on ship, I think they have done it a little wrong this time. They have gone all inclusive since we actually booked our cruise which included a package.I have to say that I think personally they have gone too far away from traditional cruising. Many Cruise customers like to get dressed up smart for a night out, the Manhatten Restaurant was one, a great food stop,? but if you are going to have a dress code stick to it ??? which they didn't. finding a sunbed was not easy on a normal day. but when they all get all off the ship on a visit and you have loads of room. The food on the ship was great no problems there, the all inclusive you have to be careful what is available on this package. I have to say that the general consensus is that we would go for another cruise BUT Ideally found blocked wth tree on lineWE woud use them again if things were different Read Less

It had been over 20 years at least since my fiancé and I each had cruised. (We were not together at the times that we last cruised, so I kinda feel that this is our first cruise as so much has changed.) But overall, the experience was a great one. There were a few minor hiccups here and there, but overall, we fell in love with cruising and are thinking about where to go to next. Embarkation was a breeze.. Barcelona is a pretty easy place to embark. There were at least 20 agents there to help. We arrived at port about about 11:45 and we on board in less than 30 minutes. Cabin review is contained elsewhere in this review, so I'll skip that. The entertainment was great. Priscilla was awesome. We had seen the play on Broadway and were amazed at the ability of the ship and performers to pull off an almost Broadway quality set and performance. Burn the Floor was good, but we agreed with fellow passengers that while the dancing was phenomenal (I can't believe some of the moves they did while there was a minor but noticeable roll from the waves), the lack of a story line made it much less engaging. The Cirque show was great, and the "Beatles" at the Cavern Club were very good. If there's one place where we can't give glowing reviews is the food, especially at the non-specialty dining places. We really disliked the Garden Café. The food was mediocre, the throngs of passengers was overwhelming and the ambiance was that of a college cafeteria. Taste and the Manhattan Room were better. As for Specialty dining, all were definitely a step up from the standard dining, but with the exception of La Cucina (which has an amazing view as well), the food was good but not amazing. Teppanyaki: food good; entertainment, very good and fun. Moderno: food okay, service okay (, annoying family to my right, not good). Cagney's: food very good, service good. We only did one shore excursion through NCL and that was in Cannes. The main reason, to ensure a good time to get a tender. The tour was okay but focused way too much on the Film Festival which was going on. I would have rather reserved a tender separately and walked around the Old Town on our own. Service was overall great. Our Steward, Ryan, was fantastic. Always with a smile on his face and that he ensured that our requests were met happily (we had to ask for a few things here and there, I don't believe that we are THOSE passengers who annoyed the hell out of our steward.) There was one mishap during the GLOW party which got me pretty perturbed, but the Cruise Director got everyone involved and solve the problem. If it weren't for that experience, the service rating would be a 5 as well. All in all, a great cruise... so much so that we put our deposits down for another adventure on NCL. I don't know where yet, but it's something that will keep us talking for a while. Read Less

We went on the Epic as on of the part of our honeymoon. All in all turned out be one of the highlights of the trip. 8th largest cruise ship in the world was an absolute delight. Amazing cruise with great services, well executed entertainment and top culinary treat. There is something for everyone on this ship. We had the aft facing balcony and the room view was outstanding. Room itself was smartly made and had good storage and was spacious enough for two of us. The staff was good even though we did encounter slight amount of rudeness and impatience and a few places from the staff which really surprised us. But the amenities and activities hand in hand with the entertainment programs well complimented with the food was a pretty good recipe for a memorable and delightful cruising experience. I would hands down suggest anyone to cruise on this ship... the magnificent Norwegian Epic! Read Less

We just returned from our western Mediterranean cruise on Norwegian Epic. This cruise was fantastic. The staff were superb. We had a balcony room which was always clean. Eduardo our steward was great. He was friendly and always had a hello or smile for us when we saw him. The food was very good. We had the specialty dining package and ate at Cagneys twice and once at Moderno. We also ate at the Manhattan dining room. It was good too but portion size was very small for what we ordered. Also ate at Shaghais and O'sheans which were both very good. The entertainment was TOP NOTCH! We saw the Beatles Mania, Burn the Floor, Men of Motown and Priscilla Queen of the Desert (watched this one twice!). Best entertainment ever on any of our cruises. We did not use the ships shore excursions. They were so expensive and found much better options with smaller groups that we liked better and much cheaper! The embarkation and disembarkation were no problem. We were able to get on the ship about noon on the day of embarking and had a nice lunch and sat by the pool side before sailing. Would definitely sail on the Epic again. The 2 things I would do different would be to take a taxi to the pier rather than use the NCL transfer. A taxi would have been cheaper and quicker. The staff that was at the airport were not very squared away and we had to stand around for about an hour before we were able to get on the bus. We were luckier than some though as some waited there from about 7:30 am to 11:00. I would also not use the post cruise hotel at Barcelona - The Mont Blanc. Noisiest hotel I have ever stayed in. Overall, it was a great cruise and I would recommend to anyone. Also, it was just my husband and I traveling. Even though there were kids on this cruise, it was not a "kid" cruise which was better for our needs. Have fun! Read Less

While very much enjoyed the cruise. While only a minor inconvenience we found and others also commented that we found ourselves waiting often for elevators. Several time two out of 8 were blocked. The food was great. our experience with the staff was always very positive and pleasant. Everyone was most anxious to please . One waitress stood out as being exceptional and her name was Tanitia Paul. Her attitude and degree of attentional stood out. While, the tour guides do not seem to be directly employed by NCL, we noted that there were obviously some that were better then others in terms of degree of knowledge and comprehension. The cleanliness of the the ship was outstanding. Entertainment was great . another minor inconvenience was the wifi was down several times. Of course the costs we found to be exceptionally high especially considering, the quality of service, the slowness and tiresome process of logging in and logging out and God forbid, you forget to logout, as we did, we blew $75 in a flash. We chose this cruise for the sites it stopped at and the price, as well as the lack of conflicts with our schedule. This was our second cruise, and we liked our first one better, but at the same time, what's not to like about most cruises? We stayed interior this time, pros and cons to each type of room. we embarked and disembarked very smoothly, (no checked baggage! just carryon! man i'm traveling like that from now on) and their process did seem more simple than other companies we've cruised with before. Dining was fine. Again, what's not to like about free food? We didn't ever venture down into the Manhattan Room or Taste, so I won't comment on those. The steakhouse was par, nothing great. I wouldn't have been super thrilled go pay extra to eat there. Sushi was decent. The teppanyaki was better. The chefs really ham it up--more than I'm used to-- not sure if I like that or not. Best part of the cruise food-wise was the ice cream machine and pizza late at night. For me, the devil's in the details. And there were dozens of opportunities for the details to be taken care of that weren't (for me. Maybe I'm spoiled, and cruising is already such a luxurious way to travel). Just lots of little things. The housekeeping staff had their stuff out in halls all day long. Makes sense, but still, you lose some of the magic. Never saw the cruise director out and about. Our previous cruise (full disclosure, Regal Princess - wow) had the cruise director out before and after every show - on the tv doing activities, heck even selling me cariloha bedsheets, but I got to know the guy. Martin. Grew up in Wales. I dunno there wasn't as strong a connection. The layout of the ship felt like there was some wasted space. Interior room folks want a spot they can see the water from, and Epic doesn't have that outside the lido deck. would have like to have seen more movies out on that big video screen in back. Service staff didn't fill up waters (is it cuz they're free...? sorry I didn't get a 600 dollar drink package...) And all around seemed to lack a crispness and spring in their step that I saw with Princess. They nickel and dime you. Every free place you go, there are upcharge options that make it feel like a 'freemium' app, which actually makes the whole experience feel cheaper. Even at the cover charge places where it's all free after the cover charge (teppanyaki) there's a 10 dollar drink you can get. I get it, they only make money once you're on the boat. I'll pay a couple hundred more dollars to not have to be advertised to every second. I'm trying to imagine disneyland where you pay to get into the park, then pay to ride each ride. We don't drink, so the 40 bucks we would have dropped on the ice bar got spent somewhere else. it would have been fun, but welcome to the free market right? ports and buses and trains aren't as scary as I thought they would be. Just have euros ready to take the shuttles and stuff. Man, I'd really consider skipping the shuttle in Civitavecchia. just walk to the train, especially if you're "first one up" type folks like me. half hour, you'll be there, don't have to sit and wait around like a schmuck for italian bus drivers... Seems to be lots of LGBT events and things. The Priscilla show was raunchy and deliberately pushing buttons, so be prepared for a lesson in progressive politics mixed with some drag. Decent performances. The circus show was a blast, the dinner that came with it... meh. great trip! I recommend the trip, not necessarily the boat. But seriously, first world problems! This ship is enormous so get your walking shoes on. The first impression I got was at the Casino area. The aroma was purely cigarette smoke, old fashioned décor and dull lighting. I was pleased to see that other floors did not have this problem. When we eventually found our inside cabin, I could not believe how small and badly designed it was. If you want any shred of privacy you will not find it here. The sink was in the living area with taps to the side which made brushing your teeth quite awkward. The lighting was really dull and as we had no window made it feel even more confining. All plugs are underneath the dressing table area and hard to get at unless on your hands and knees. I would not advise anyone to get an inside cabin. This was my first cruise and I felt it was a bit of a let down in this area. I did ask if an update was possible but was told there were other people still to get on the next day even though I was told previously by a check in assistant that the ship was only 3/4 full!! My good report is of all the staff, entertainment and food. Could not fault this in any way. There is something for everyone at any time of the day or night. The shows were fantastic. I can recommend getting a drinks package as it was fabulous not having to pay. I hope I remember not to just walk out the door when eating out at home. Think my next cruise will be on a smaller ship with bigger cabins and a balcony or at least a window. Read Less

I just loved my cruise, always so many people that are negative, but I had a great time onboard. And the ports on this is just so interesting.. We had booked excursions in almost every port, and they wore great.. the only thing that was a little down, was the queueing to get the sticker, but as soon as you got that, it took no time to get out of the ship and to the waiting bus. The food was good, and I did like the Manhattan room best for dinner, I dont like the atmosphere at Taste. The noodle bare is also very good for a quick bite, and I love the Italian.. the view from there is so nice. I did found th staff to be very nice, just talk to them and be like a normal person, and they will smile and give you super service, ( I always see so many demanding and rude persons, and if you are one you dont deserve good service) Entertainmetn onboard was sooo good, I love Pricilla, and I saw that 3 times, it is way better onboard that on Westend. Burn the floor is amazing as well, the dancers wore fantastic. waites I always got bar service quick and waiters was around always to serve you drinks. This was my second time on the Epic, I like this ship, and I cant wait to go bat on the TA in November. Read Less

Make sure you book all entertainment on the 1st day or two. Don't miss the big top Escape game or Howl at the Moon. All our excursions were booked outside of NCL. Food tour of Naples was extraordinary. Round trip to Pisa from Livorno was only 15 euros a person. We ordered 12 liters of water for this 7 day cruise. worked out just right. You can't bring any liquid on to the ship from any port stop, not even the bottles you bought on the ship. Latin Dance lessons were held by the dancers from burn the floor, really top notch dancers. And don't miss the "burn the floor" show, it was much more than I had expected, really great. The Priscilla show is not for everyone. I have no problem with LGBT, but I also didn't find watching so much about their lifestyle very entertaining. Chinese restaurant was also very good. Read Less

Having to pay over $200 for Wi-Fi that does not work is just not right. And I mean "99% DOES NOT WORK". You try and log in and you get “The Proxy server isn’t responding”, and if you get logged in the time to load a page is forever. When I talked to the IT person he was rude and said: "Oh, yes it is normal for a web page to take 5 minutes to load, and I don't do phones, only internet." The 2nd time I approached him he was very curt. I needed the service so I had to get up at 4:00 am to use the Wi-Fi. It seemed like a lot of the food we got had no taste, so bland if I closed my eyes I would not know what I was eating. The breakfast buffet was good except the potatoes. You know how potatoes get from setting. In the main dining restaurant, my lasagna was very dry and the cheese on top was inedible, probably from sitting under or over heat. Our next meal at main dining resulted in a waiter that ignored all his tables while he talked. I had to remind him he was ignoring his tables to make him go away. What made this worse was he barely could speak English. Overall most food was good. At the Spiegel Tent show and dinner, we got a menu, BUT they did not ask what we wanted. Everybody got steak, a great steak but what if I did not eat meat? There are not menus except at the restaurants; we had to walk to each one to see the menu. At another show the bartender in the main theater let people stand in line for 10 minutes then just closed the bar. He could see the line but made no effort to give advance warning that the bar closed when the show started. I watched a very polite man treated like crap. I am sad to say that this was not the only time I was exposed to staff rudeness. The daily news letter leaves a lot of unanswered questions, plan on having to ask for info about simple things. The map of the ship is not the best. In the daily news letter I did not see the small little mention about tendering. I had no idea what tendering meant. When I did find out what it meant, it was too late, so it was 1:00 pm before we got a ride to shore, so we missed our tour. By the way tendering means singing up to get a boat to shore. I have been on 4 cruises and this was the first time I had heard of this. Last; charging a gratuity for the liquor in the mini bar is a rip-off, you pay $9 for a $2 bottle of liquor and then they add a fee PLUS 18% gratuity. I paid $35 for 3 little bottles. Read Less
