With room for up to four guests, these Family Balcony Staterooms are great if you want to bring the kids. They feature two lower beds that convert into a queen-size bed and additional bedding to accommodate two more, in addition to the separate bathroom with shower and private balcony for the whole gang to enjoy the view.
I didn't like the cabin layout (standard balcony) as much as the NCL Getaway as it is curved inside which makes it feel a little tighter and clunky. Also the bathroom, shower and sink are all separate. At first I didn't like this but after adjusting, it seems to give you more space in each area. Still thought the sink in the cabin was unusual but not terrible. The balcony we had was quite large...it was nice to have this extra space if someone was getting ready so you could be out of the way. Read entire member review >>
this cabin is quite far from any elevator, so something to consider if you have mobility issues. The cabin layout was awkward as many others have mentioned but was OK for us Read entire member review >>
Our cabin layout was not a problem for us in fact it made getting two children dressed easier having the sink seperate. They could use the basin whilst one of use showered. There was far more storage than I needed ,I think we could have had cloths for 6 months and the suitcases fitted nicely under the bed so we weren't lifting them out of the shower like I have done on other ships.Once the beds were set up there was very little room to open cupboards so if you didn't want to wake kids in morning get cloths out the night before. The cabin steward was very good at checking when to set them up so I was happy .We all found the beds very comfy and the top bunk is very sturdy some nights my girls both got in the one bed to watch tablet before bed. The only moan I had was that the plugs were really close together so although there were four we could only use two with our adapters for uk plugs. Read entire member review >>
Distressing lack of space to move about. No storage space for 4 individuals. Toilet area smells of urine. Toilet paper 1 ply (common area paper was better, why not just use the same kind). Read entire member review >>
We liked the cabin although with the curve at the bottom of the bed, our feet were hanging off the edge all the time. Luckily we are not 6 ft plus! The shower was great, television channel choice poor. Read entire member review >>
Room was smaller than expected but nice. We had adjoining rooms with a connecting door which was very nice for a family. Good size balcony. Always had to ask for more towels though. Read entire member review >>
Like many others, I have no idea what NCL was thinking when they went with these curvy walls in the staterooms. Size for the cabin was typical, but the curved walls made spaces tight to squeeze past. The shower and toilet areas had sliding, frosted glass doors which I thought weren't the most private in the world. You'd better be comfortable with the people you're traveling with. Water temperature in the shower fluctuated quite a bit from cold to hot. The bed was comfortable and storage (hanging space and drawers) was adequate. Luggage (4 suitcases) would fit under the bed. NCL admits they made a mistake by putting the shower and toilet by the door with a curtain separating this area from the rest of the cabin. The sink is on the other side of the shower and if someone is at the sink, nobody can get past them to get to the shower, toilet or door. The room is so narrow, we didn't enjoy room very much. Getting dressed for dinner was a royal pain. I did like the gooseneck reading light at bedside and the TV was pretty good with several news outlets including FOX and CNN. Cabin steward was perfect. Opaque toilet cubicle on the left and on the right an opaque shower cabinet. Separating these from the main cabin area was a sliding curtain. A sink and a mirrored cupboard was also in the main area, unfortunately this was a bit of a dark area, although there was a light, this was of little use when trying to have a shave! The main wardrobe was a substantial area, which held my wife's clothes. The smaller wardrobe with three drawers was less than 12 inches deep. Shirts or T-shirts had to be folded twice, to fit into the drawers. NCL should look at remedying this!! Our friends were in cabin 11312, which was slightly better. Read entire member review >>
8004. Great bed, great balcony. Clean and well maintained. Almost brand new. Shower drained rather slow, not sure if that's ow it is on a ship or it was just our shower. No worries though. Read entire member review >>
14000, right at the front, port side. No noise despite being across from a crew door. We had a privacy balcony, nice and quiet. I thought it would be annoying, but we had a great view, no complaints! Read entire member review >>
Famous split Epic bathroom. Pro: good shower size Con: No privacy
The curve in the room looks pretty, but leaves little room to move around furniture.
LOVE the waterproof bin under the sink. It's perfect for dirty laundry! I give it huge bonuses for innovation. Read entire member review >>
WE stayed in room 13000. It is the end of corridor. Nice quiet location. Fab room. Decor lovely, large balcony.
Comfy bed - best bed I have ever slept ina nd best pillows !
Room was 100%, loved it ! Read entire member review >>
The cabin design needs improving. When more than one person is in the cabin,Sink at foot of bed makes it a bit cramped when trying to get ready, especially as the bathroom is at one end of the cabin and the storage space at the other. Bed was comfy, though.
And lose the frosted glass front on the loos! Read entire member review >>
We were in cabin 10147. The elevators we were closest to went all the way down to Decks 4 and 5, so we didn't have to go through the casino. Because of the room configuration, we could not fit the crib they brought us. This would be the same for all balcony state rooms that have the bed closest to the balcony. Read entire member review >>
Our cabin was 14041 on Deck 14 underneath the public areas and we had quite a lot of noise which sounded like people moving things around during the middle of the night - but I don't know whether this was from children moving around in adjoining cabins or staff preparing the restaurant above during the night ready for the next day. The cabin is beneath a large overhang which is good for providing shade but not if you want to sunbathe. The cabin is very modern and well equipped. Apart from the noise during the night we were very pleased with the cabin and the service. Read entire member review >>
Wave room is okay for 2 people, but not for 3 or more.
Even at low pressure, washing hands in the sink will splash water on the counter. Then, water can drip onto the tissues in the tissue holder just under the faucet side of the sink. The flooring in the sink area is carpet. Do not get it wet.
No door handle hanger card. There is a dial to request turn-down, make-up room, do not disturb or welcome. Read entire member review >>
If you get a balcony room, try to get a '103' room. It has an extra-large space for two lounge chairs.
My room was not a '103'. It had plenty of storage space and a decent vertical (?) layout. The split toilet & shower took a bit of getting used to. Read entire member review >>
It was weird having the shower and toilet as soon as you walk in the room and being separate. Lots of space for storage. Unfortunately found a condom when we first were in the room- the room stewardess was mortified and made up for it the rest of the trip.We used our balcony alot, most people didn't.It was more spacious than other balconies we've had. Pretty curvy room, crowded layout with three choke points, lots of clever and useful storage, weird bathroom set-up that lacked privacy, average balcony that overlooked three other people's balconies. Read entire member review >>
All rooms have balconies. Supposedly we had a free upgrade, but our room was just above the life boats, therefore, you couldn't get a close view of the water when you looked over the balcony railing. The vanity sink was way too small. Just washing your hands sprayed water everywhere because it was too small. We liked the separate toilet and shower areas. Plenty of room in the shower. Plenty of storage and closet space. Read entire member review >>
Small, narrow, cramped, the bathroom was basically in the room, it was constructed poorly and things were falling appart. A lot of little glitches like the TV and phone not working. it rattled when the engines thrusted, it was noisy and the beds were smaller than any standard bed I have ever been in. We had a regular balcony cabin. It was fine for two people. I would not try it with three people, I'm afraid it would be a little too crowded. We were right down the hall from the elevators/stairs and that was very convenient. We noticed that the room stewards used the corner by our door to park their carts for cleaning in the mornings. We never heard any noise from any of them before we left our room. It was generally very quiet. Never heard hall noise, but occasionally did hear loud talking, etc. from neighboring balconies. 13060 - Huge balcony on the hump, some noise from the kids area above, but only during the day and early evening. Quiet at night. Close to elevators and stairs. Two flights up to the buffet. Read entire member review >>
Super tiny cabin. Good balcony. Excellent storage and shower. Deck 15 above was mostly noisy with people dragging chairs (or equipment) into the wee hours. Strange hallway layout to get to cabin. Opt for decks 9, 10, 11 or 12. They are much more quiet. Read entire member review >>
Great balcony, no one was able to see us due to the ceiling extending farther out above us! Was very quiet and wasn't to far from anything. Was beneath the spa and close to the Spice H20 outdoor area. Read entire member review >>
The cabin looks excellent but the shape makes it hard to move about. It is a tight squeeze and I am a size 12. The separate toilet and shower was great but the wash basin is too small. The bed, bedding and towels were very good. The balcony is large and pleasant but needs a bigger table. The TV is a good size but the choice of channels is poor. Only one free film channel.
