Panama Canal Transit Cruise NOT to be missed!

Review for a Panama Canal & Central America Cruise on Norwegian Dawn

We’ve been looking for a Panama Canal Cruise and the Dawn’s itinerary were the best that we found. We were first-timers at all the ports visited. The cruising into Panama Canal was the best part! We stayed on the ship and experienced going through the east and west lanes. There was a speaker on the PA the whole time who explained what was going and was very helpful and informative. My husband ...

Buffet was terrible

We have taken many cruises on a few different ships. We sail out of New York out of convenience. Many different NCL ships come and go in New York and sometimes the different ships can be very exiting. But the dawn was a bit of a let down. While the cruise itself was awesome ( 14 days & 8 islands ). First and most important was the terrible food in the buffet. Food was most of the time cold. Other ...

We sailed on NCL Pride of Aloha to the islands of Hawaii way back and had a really great time but we chose this cruise primarily for the itinerary and that it sailed from New York and not Florida. Anything that shortens flying time is a bonus! Since then it's been Celebrity pretty much every time. Anywho, after a hideous drive into Manhattan due to a 'non pick-up' at JFK by NCL (we had to arrange ...

Terrific Itinerary

We chose this cruise because of the terrific itinerary - 8 Caribbean islands, 3 of which we had never visited. Leaving from NYC was attractive, too, since we could take Amtrak there. We had cruised on the Dawn before but it was back in 2009 so we were interested in seeing how she had been refurbished. We enjoy the layout and size of this class of ship as well as the jewel class. Loved seeing ...

I read some reviews before this trip, as it was our first NCL, (We are mostly HAL cruisers.) Many were relating dissatisfaction. Was pleasantly surprised to experience none of those bad reviews. Whole process of embark/disembark was smooth and trouble-free. Some highlights: Good food in dining rooms and buffet. Room clean and bright. Excellent entertainment. Times of 7 and 9 are better than ...

I was asked to join cruise when one of the participants became ill. I am retired as are the others and had no previous plans so timing was not an issue. The ship is beautiful but not as large as others. I will say that there is not enough activities to participate in on at sea days, I mean how much bingo can one play? The food was adequate, nothing special. I will say that they are very attentive ...

Offered a great deal and good itinerary. Arrived a day ahead in San Juan to sightsee but trollies were being diverted for event but had a nice time exploring locally around hotel. Taxi from Old San Juan to Pan Am Pier was $28. Arrived early to pier and boarded soon thereafter with time to explore the ship. Rooms were ready at 2pm. Had a very nice lunch in Maderno. Food was very good. Family Suite ...

My boyfriend and I went on the 7-day southern Caribbean cruise out of San Juan in March of 2019. Went down a day early and stayed in San Juan overnight. We were able to check out Old San Juan with the few hours we had that evening. We are in our early thirties and had a really fun time on this cruise. We weren't sure what to expect based on previous reviews, but this cruise did not disappoint for ...

Better than Disney, but ditch the old people music

We spent the extra money on the suite and it was totally worth it. I can say that the service level was top notch. Food was great. Much better than our Disney Cruise experience. Ship is very well maintained and I don’t mean in the sense that things are just “painted” over and over. It’s clear many things have been revamped and replaced. Disney was nice but “old” nice. Not Norwegian it’s ...

Our first cruise

We chose this cruise because we wanted to do something in the Caribbean and this package offered stops at islands that we were interested in exploring for potential future island vacation destinations. Unfortunately we did not get the chance to explore our departure city as flights in and out were on the same days as embarkation and disembarkation. Something to keep in mind for future ...
