Cabin was fine as noted below. However I did notice that the carpet could have been cleaner. Bathroom was tight but well laid out. 1). Fun party boat with mostly middle age and younger folks. (A waiter told us the average age on this 4 day Bermuda weekend cruise was 48 as compared to an 11 night Canada/New England just prior to our sailing where the average age was 68!) 2). Local folk from all walks of life. 3) We experienced every level of service.. From stellar service from Rose in ship photography who went above and beyond helping us connect to wifi when the IT department was long gone, to downright rude staff. Notably a front desk member was annoyed with a very simple question and a eat staff member seemed to unexplainably stomp off in the middle of serving us. (It appeared were walked in on some some of dispute between her and the hostess, since i we did nothing to provoke this. 4). The food:. The free stuff was not good. Honestly, barely edible, with exceptions. Garden Cafe buffet: Mainly just gross. Go here only if you have no other option. Omelets were ok. Crepes were ok. Fruit salads and slices were good. Soft serve machine was always broken. Topsiders: Mini version of inside buffet food but since it's exposed to heat and humidity, I'd just stay away. They do offer ice cream, and that is the exception here. Wings at O'Sheehan's were ok, as was the Spinach artichoke dip. Everything else we had was just weirdly prepared or not good. Bamboo: Didn't get to experience because strangely the Norwegian app indicated that "Reservations not Accepted". However, when we went there they were only accepting those with reservations. ??? Venetian:. Let me just say this. Save yourself. Eat here. We had something very good at every meal. Although, it takes time for your food, it was worth it. Aqua:. We didn't get to but has same menu as Venetian. Los Lobos:. Good, small portions, and you are paying reasonable ala cart prices. Teppanyaki:. Good. Entertaining but expensive. Drinks:. About average for vacation, figure on $10 drink. We did not do the drink package. We figured we'd have to drink at least 10 drinks a day per person to make it worth it. We brought wine aboard. All in all, it was a fun weekend cruise. Read Less

It was the closest cruise to our 50th anniversary date. Friends had recommended Norwegian. Long time waiting to get aboard, Much better getting off ourselves. We were VERY disappointed in our "Ultimate dining package " We found out at the first restaurant, first night, that it was only good for ONE meal ! I had made reservations for each of the 4 nights, thinking I was getting 4 meals. In speaking to several of your staff prior to the cruise, NOBODY mentioned that we were only getting one meal ! Not very transparent, actually SNEAKY ! Bad Job, Crappy way to treat first time cruisers on Norwegian. But , you probably train them that way. The specialty restaurant , La Cuchina, was only average as it turned out. We cancelled the other 3 reservations, after noticing that they cost about $75 pp ! The breakfasts and dinners in the Venetian dining room were OK. The Beverage package was OK. The pool deck was very crowded, no chairs available and not enough staff to get you a drink without a long wait. This was the smallest ship we have been on. On board shopping was very limited, except if you wanted to spend hundreds or thousands. $10 T shirts were advertised for the last night but there were NONE there, only trinkets and junk . The ring we bought for my wife is turning her finger black. NCLs 100 mins of WIFI was useless, never worked. The entertainment was OK, for a small ship. Patti and Josy were very good. The highlight was our cabin and cabin steward, both very good. The weather was beautiful the whole cruise. Way too short of time to do anything in Bermuda, a place we like alot. Been there before. Stores closed in Hamilton, on a Sunday. We would classify NCL as better than Carnival, not as good as RCL. We would like a response to this review from NCL Read Less

We have sailed on the NCL Dawn three times.Always have enjoyed. This time was no exception. The Dover Sole at Le Bistro was so delicious.Patti and Jose in the Atrium each evening performing was wonderful. The only negative we found was the twenty year olds in the suite next to ours who got so drunk and had screaming girls at 3am pounding on their door.Who do you call on a ship in the middle of the ocean at 3 am to report this kind of event? This only happened on the last night out but left such a terrible memory. Our suite on deck 12 was very large and our room steward kept it very clean. Our butler was pleasant. Not our best ever butler but he tried very hard. All the meals were very good and we had no complaints.Bermuda was beautiful as always even after a hurricane.Such a special island. We hope to sail on NCL again soon. Read Less

Boarding in Boston was quick and easy-rooms on-board ready early and luggage arrived at stateroom before 5:30. Entertainment not as great as prior cruises but Jose and Patti as well as Hotwire were very entertaining. The Tina Turner tribute show by Ass't Cruise Director LUZ was phenomminal. Cruise Spent a lot of evenings in the atrium bar-Java Cafe. The bar staff were excellent-a definite credit to Norwegian. Ate at several specialty restaurants-Cagney's-Los Lobos-Le Bistro. Don't see the need for a men's pants dress code in Le Bistro- not necessary as long as you are in Bermuda-Bermuda shorts should be sufficient. Los Lobos was an OK experience-food was good but certainly not any better than the main dining rooms-Venetian or Aqua. We really enjoy Cagney's and the staff there seemed to go out of their way to make the dining experience special-well worth the price. Ate at the Bamboo cafe-very nice, especially considering it is a complimentary dining venue. Disembarking took less than 20 minutes. Boston is a great port! All in all another really fun Norwegian cruise. Have a 19 day Panama Canal cruise scheduled and booked 2 New England/Canada cruises while on board-Cruise Next staff very helpful as were all staff on-board-that's why we continue to sail Norwegian ! Birthday & celebration The staff on board will exceed your expectations and wow you for every second you are aboard. We were concerned when we booked. Getting help from NCL over the phone was painful. We had help with an outside travel agent who really did the heavy lifting on planning this trip...unfortunately after we booked directly with Norwegian. Once the travel agent from AAA help out....we knew we had a great trip planned. Once aboard...the staff was awesome. Food was excellent and plentiful. Better than the Capital Grill and Legal Seafoods. Loved the entertainment... Julie Barr, Tina Turner Act , Irish comedian show was excellent. We watched the Newly Wed Game with actual guest....very, very funny. JC Sanchez....you had us in stitches!! JC your cruise director had a week of fun, fun and more fun planned 24 / 7 We would book this trip with our friends and family members in a heartbeat. Read Less

We chose this cruise to celebrate our 40th anniversary and to just relax. We did both. It was such a wonderful time. We went to see a bunch of shows Element which which was great. A comedian who was very funny. A juggling comedian who was also great. We ate at Cagney’s steakhouse twice . which is a must . Moderno And the main dining rooms are great too. Did not care for the Buffet .The bands playing at the pool were great to listen to. Embarkation was easy just go where they tell you the lines move pretty quick. Disembarkation don’t keep your luggage. Pick a color it is much better than waiting in the line that goes all over the ship. We did one excursion and that was the glass bottom boat. Worth the 69 dollars . A lot of interesting tips about the island from the captain. Read Less

While the ship was relatively nice (I've been on better), I wasn't wowed by anything on board. It had decent amenities, but it was near impossible to find anywhere to sit. Seating was more difficult outside because on the entire port side of the ship, they allow smoking. That's on deck 7, outside (so if you want to take a nice evening walk, for one half of the walk, you're walking through cigarette smoke). If you want to sit out by the pool, you better sit starboard or smell the smoke. You can even smell the smoke in some of the stairwells, and even the the Garden Cafe if things blow just right, which is disgusting. You can smoke in the casino, which has no doors, so the smoke comes out of there into the rest of the ship. Frankly, as soon as you got on the ship, mid-ship where Le Bistro is, you could smell the smoke. Just gross. So, if you're a non-smoker on the Dawn, good luck getting away from it. We also had an issue with our balcony neighbors smoking on their balcony. It took two days for Guest Services to remedy the issue, and ultimately took the head of Housekeeping catching them for something to be said about it. It's a safety hazard and should been dealt with immediately! The smoking issue aside, the rest of the cruise was okay. The food was decent, the service was good, and the entertainment was great. Cagney's was the best - 20 oz. Porterhouse was to die for. My wife and I went there for an anniversary dinner and the staff sang us a song and gave us an anniversary cake. Very unexpected, but very nice. We really enjoyed the music of Manila Soul, the ship band. They were fantastic. They had a large repertoire, and they played every day! One of the best things about the cruise was the extremely nice greeter at the Garden Cafe who sprayed the disinfectant on your hands. That had to be the happiest guy in the world. He sang songs and greeted you with a smile every time! Happy happy, washy washy! In all, the cruise was fine once we found the places to avoid the smoke, but having to think about that constantly took away from the overall enjoyment. Read Less

We chose this cruise to celebrate my early retirement and to take a vey much deserved break. We loved the convenience of being able to sail directly from Boston without flights involved. We traveled just as a couple this time, but home to do a family cruise perhaps next June. The staff is exceptional and we loved our cabin steward, Dragan. Dining was excellent overall. We met some amazing people, and Bermuda is so worth visiting! The ship is aging, and there was very sting odor of mold on the lower decks in particular. I became ill by our last day, even with obsessive jabs washing, sanitizing and using all forms of illness avoidance techniques. I have pneumonia, which could be did Yo exposure to mold or just the contact with the large population. The conduct of passengers was an issue, and many of the guests over imbibed, which was unpleasant at times. I would recommend where there is card tracking and technology to allow monitoring excess of alcohol consumption, more should be done fiduciarily to protect ALL passengers. Any establishment that serves alcohol is legally bound to refuse service when guests are visibly intoxicated. There were public disturbances including outbursts in specialty dining establishments, violence between guests, vomiting in areas of food service (Garden Cafe, deck 12). and on deck due specifically to this issue which we feel could have been controlled with substantial efficacy and needs to be addressed with policy changes. There were paper thin walls as well which certainly added to the cruise experience at times, on many levels. However, all staff handled each event with professionalism, care and extreme efficiency, enduring much to maintain a safe and pleasurable cruise overall for each and every guest. We were treated as royalty and are exceedlngly grateful for this care. I would recommend this cruise and ship. Read Less

I like to write my review right away so everything is still fresh in my mind. I was travelling as a single parent with two friends who are also single parents. Our kids are different ages (12, 15, and 18.) There is something for everyone on this cruise. It’s a small ship, so no big climbing walls, zip lines, etc. We all had an amazing time. Our cruise was over the 4th of July and the ship was at full capacity. I did the same cruise a couple of years ago with less people in late August. Although it seemed crowded at times around the pool, it was amazing. I learned a few things that I would do differently next time we go. We signed up to go again with a great program Norwegian has because we loved it so much. We did not get the internet package – no phones, no internet, no snapchat, Instagram, Facebook. So, if you travel with other families (on not) it’s great to bring a small white board to stick on your door so you can leave messages the old fashion way. When you’re in port there are plenty of places to get free Wi-Fi to update friends and family. The Bermuda Information center has free Wi-Fi, you can sit on the bench outside and access it. We found it nice to be “off the grid for a couple of days.” DINING: There is so much food. I did not go to any specialty restaurants, but my friend went to some and said they were great. I made reservations for our party of 6 at Aqua and Venetian online for our days at sea. Once you are on the ship the main dining times are not open to make reservations at the complimentary restaurants. We did not have to wait in line for any of our dinners, and were seated right away b/c we had reservations. If you plan dinner reservation online you can only schedule Aqua and Venetian. Bamboo (Asian Fusion) says no reservation required. However, you can make a reservation the day you want to dine there once you are on the ship. It usually has a big line so make a reservation in the morning on the day you plan to dine there. Make sure to go to the Venetian for breakfast at least once. It’s mostly the same food as the Garden Buffet, but so nice to have five-star service, and some special menu options. ENTERTAINMENT: Go to every show. The performances are great. If you’re not that interested, at least make sure to go the Elements performance. It is the best show you will see at sea. It’s Broadway meets David Copperfield, and Cirque du Soleil in one amazing show. EXCURSIONS: Book most on your own. You can get to Horseshoe Bay on bus or shuttle. Public bus is great way to see island if you want to see lots of places in one day. Or buy tokens at the Bermuda Info. Center. The cruise excursion to Horseshoe Bay is $45/pp. – Just walk off ship and you can get $7 one way or $14 rt. (per person.) You must see Horseshoe Bay - there are tons of shuttle buses, so pay one way and when you are ready to leave pay the other $7. Most everyone on the Norwegian Dawn does everything they can to make sure you have the best vacation. Of course, there may be things you are not 100% happy with; overall you make what you want of your vacation. We loved it. Read Less

We loved the idea of our first cruise being to Bermuda, where we could explore for a few days instead of only a couple hours. Bermuda was AMAZING. The people are so genuine and nice. We rented scooters to tour the island and found some wonderful spots to explore (a mix of local haunts and touristy attractions). I will visit Bermuda again for sure. I fell in love with the country and the people. The ship food was fantastic. We did a 3 meal plan to be able to explore some of the specialty dining. Le Bistro and Moderno were our favorites. We were less than impressed with the spa staff. Having gotten many massages in the past, we wanted to add this to our cruise experience. Our 75 minute massage consisted of about 10 minutes of them telling us what was wrong with us do to our requested massage points and then them continuing to babble on and on, pressuring us to buy more services and products the entire massage. It wasn't even a little bit relaxing. Such a waste of our time and money. Next time we will avoid the spa completely and get better spa service the day before leaving. Another tip would be to skip the 'Shopping Shannon' or 'Shopping in Port' presentations unless you are going with the intention to buy diamonds. We did end up buying some lovely jewelry, but had no intention of spending $15,000 on jewelry and her entire spiel was on jewelry instead of helpful shopping tips, such as go to the scooter rental store to get snorkel gear for $25 instead of $40 in the other stores.... or shop in Hamilton for better prices than in the Royal Navy Dockyard. These were the tips we thought we'd be getting. Read Less

Booked a last minute cruise from Boston to Bermuda. The forecast looked great in Bermuda while the advance weather in Boston looked dreary. Food was very good and one night at Cagney's Steakhouse was perfect. We had to pay for this dinner at a reduced rate but make sure to select the larger portion of the filet mignon. Breakfast at the pool top cafe pretty good but the bacon was always well undercooked. We went to the Venetian restaurant for breakfast on 3 occasions and if was very nice. Our cabin stewart Daniel Endaya was absolutely the best we have ever had on more than a dozen cruises! Great person.. The shows were much improved over last year on Dawn. Horseshoe Beach was fabulous and we took a non-ship mini van with about 10 other miscellaneous people for about $7PP each way. You can come and go when you please but the van has to be close to full before the driver will leave. All the drivers and people of Bermuda are wonderful and are very happy to have you on the island. I can't say enough nice things about them. Read Less

This was my first cruise ever. Went with two of my friends and my girlfriend. We traveled to Bermuda from Boston. Didn't know what to expect. Ship: The Norwegian Dawn is a big and beautiful ship with lots of things to do on-board. Rooms: We stayed in an inside cabin and loved it. It is comfortable and very clean. Got a lot of good sleep. Room sturits are very friendly and nice. Our friends had a balcony room and it was awesome. Spent more time in their room because of the view. Nice to relax on the balcony. Food: Can be a hit or a miss. Some restaurant are unbelievable and others are not so much. Bought a 3 dinner package and was disappointed by couple places we went to. Bamboo is an Asian food restaurant, thought it would be good but boy were we disappointed. Not worth it at all. Went to Cagney's Statehouse and were very disappointed in the service. Our steak wasn't cooked the way we ordered. DO NOT EAT ANY OF THE SOUPS. Los Lobos is a Mexican restaurant and it is amazing. Get the Guac! Our server named "Faruk" is the guy you want. He will tell you how it is and will not disappoint. We put our trust in his hands and he kept bringing us delicious foods and drinks. Hands down the best servant we have ever had. Venetian is great for breakfast and lunch. We had a server named "Diaz", we was very good. Good assortment of food. Bimini Grill by the Oasis pool has awesome burgers and drinks. Aqua is a great place for dinner. Le Bistro is a French restaurant which we saved for last. We were blown away by the service and the food. Everything was so delicious. Service was outstanding. The Garden Cafe which is a buffet, has a great variety of food for everyone. Everything was clean and food was fresh. There are a lot of restaurants that you can go to. Trust me, you will gain some weight. Gained 10lbs myself. Crew: Crew is great. These guys make the whole experience that much better. They treat you as if you own the ship. They are there to help with anything you need. Definitely are understated. They go above and beyond to make sure you have what you need and that you are happy. Entertainment: There are always things going on all the time. Acrobatics, comedy, music, movies, games, and trivia. Cruise Director: Are very helpful and make it easy for everyday plan. Excursions: Something for everyone of any age and ability. Makes Great Memories. Enough time in port for excursions and shopping. Did the glass bottom ferry tour and it was awesome. Cool to see different fish, coral, ship wreck, and $3 Rum Swizzles. Beaches are beautiful and clear. Locals are very friendly and helpful. Lots of places to shop around. Did a jet ski tour out of Somerset Bridge Water Sports 441-236-7758. Had an awesome time. Harry Patchett was our tour guide. Was really nice and made the tour fun. Was lot of fun doing 45mph on the water. Bermuda: Lots of things to do and enjoy. If you are looking for a taxi then Shaun, P. Tucker is your guy. Was awesome and very informative. Took us to the beach we wanted to see, but there wasn't much there. Shaun told us he will take us to an awesome beach. We drove around half the island. he told us about the history. Dropped us of at clear water beach. We spent 3-4hrs there. He came back later and picked us up. Was a great guy. Tucker's Taxi Service Cell:441-336-9674 or email: shaunp@logic.bm Trip was very relaxing for sure. No worries at all. No cooking, no cleaning, no kids, drinks available everywhere..."get the booze package" you're welcome. Overall had an amazing experience especially for being a first timer. There are lots of things to do and explore. Lots of restaurants with lots of variety. Had a great company and made some new friends. Will book again for sure. Read Less

It was an easy access for us out of Boston and the service was very good. The entertainment excellent. We were able to enjoy wonderful food in the Venetian, and Le Bistro. The staff were very attentive. It was like a Resort on the water. This was a very reasonable trip. I would say cost of things such as bingo cards very excessive $39++. I would suggest that although there was sufficient signage I believe much of our time was spent finding our way around. Having more diagrams of the ship from “you are here” and a large diagram of the ship in our room would have been extremely helpful. I would like to see more formal dining experiences offered..a very dresss up night. The dance floor/area concisited of moving between tables on carpeted floor in the Atrium area. Seating in the Atrium very limited on the main floor. There was only about 20 little tables and seating limited. During several shows one had to sit in metal folding chairs. The pool area and available lounge chairs very generous. The pool was not heated and the weather fair so a heated pool would be a big advantage during the early summer sails. We were never offered drinks by the pool as on other ships. We saw very few wait staff offering beverages. Read Less

I chose the cruise due to friends recommendations. It was a simple drive to Boston parked very close to the ship check in was easy. We sat and relaxed waiting until we could board. I had brought magazines to read as I knew we would be waiting awhile. the online information was good. I read everything I could online. Then we boarded the ship it was lovely! we had not been on vacation as a couple for a long time and anxiety was high would we like cruising? Would we be bored? We went to the Venetian for a lovely sit. Down lunch. My husband had a burger and an apitizier of potato stuffed with crab I had meatloaf wrapped with bacon it was great service was excellent. We then were able to go to our cabin 9096 a balcony it was clean everything was in good working order our steward was always cleaning keeping clean towels and so polite! The weather was cold and rainy all the way to Bermuda but we signed up for the thermal spa suite great idea! The lap pool, hot tubs, and sauna were well enjoyed! The heated lounge seats where you can watch the wake of the ship while reading was so relaxing! It made the sea day so much fun I was pretty maxed out on my budget so I didn’t get any other spa services but it looked lovely and the staff seemed great. One other thing I really enjoyed was the entertainment. Shows were short and lively. The Canvas by U classes were fun and priced a little high but it was so convenient taking a painting class on the ship. I swam with dolphins Read Less

This was our second cruise to Bermuda on the Dawn, We wanted a simple vacation with no flying involved. Because our last cabin was too small and didn't even have a seating area, we got a mini suite this time and it was well worth the extra money. For the first time I actually got to take a bath at sea! There was plenty of room, lots of storage and the cabin was very comfortable. Although we were near the spa, there was no noise from it at all. We were on deck 11 and even though the sea was a little rough one day, it was still very comfortable. This was our third cruise on the Dawn but the first since she was in dry dock. The changes worked well and she looked nice and fresh. Entertainment on board was good but on several nights there was only one show which resulted in a lot of crowding. I found the activities pretty disappointing. The food in the dining rooms and Cagneys and the teppenyaki was great. I was very surprised to find the dining room closed for lunch on two days in port. That left us at the mercy of the Garden Court or the pub unfortunately the food was not up to par in either place. If this happens to you, eat in Bermuda. We didn't go on any shore excursions because we had been to Bermuda in the past. There is a great public transportation system so it is easy to get just about any place you want. Although we had free internet minutes, we didn't even use them all because service is so slow. NCL needs to get with the times and improve this. The internet manager is wonderful though. So helpful and taught me some tricks I now use on land. Another thing I appreciated was that they were not constantly dunning you to have your picture taken and this was a welcome change. Some of the wait staff were wonderful an others were just going through the motions. If I had to work as many hours as they do, I'm sure I would have bad days too! The Latitudes cocktail party, which is usually fun, was a big disappointment. The drinks and appetizers were fine but none of the officers spoke or introduced themselves and the cruise director left a lot to be desired. Embarkation and disembarkation went much more smoothly than it has in the past. We were celebrating an anniversary and one night they gave us a cake and sang Let Me Call You Sweetheart. This was a lovely thoughtful touch. We probably won't go to Bermuda again but we will sail with NCL. Read Less

This was our first time on the new "Norwegian Dawn" since the "refurb"-so have nothing to compare from before. We loved it very much.Found it to be very colorful, very friendly easy to manoeuver around once we found our bearings. We always take the first day to go around all the areas of our likes before settling down on any one area. The casino was great had a lot of more modern machines and the service was excellent for us.My husband is a good tipper so we are always treated well.It didn't hurt that we also had very good luck as well..The entertainment in the theatre both venues were first rate. There had been a standing ovation for both shows.Food and drink are always good on Norwegian since we have the "UBP"it is much easier now at the bars.We tried the "Sunset" boat excursions around the Hamilton Coastline, they too were first rate. Those rum cruises are not chinzy at all.Alot of fun and kept the mood going..Even though the weather was very cool, maybe 65-68 degrees at night, that didn't dampen our spirits at all.We loved Bermuda and maybe thinking of returning at an other time to go to the other side of the island to see St.Georges,we hear that's quite a nice place as well. We had a 12pm embarkation time and the dropping luggage and initial security check was quick. It took about 20 minutes to get thru security and check in. We did opt for drink package and shore excursions. I felt the drink package was worth it, it beats coming home with a bar tab. The drinks were not watered down at all. We did most of our dining in Venetian and Aqua, they both have the same menu but I’m not a fan of the buffet. It’s crowded and the food is ok. Patti and Jose always put on a great show in the Atruim. The Elements show is a must see. Lots of things to do but be prepared for fees for many. Most staff were very pleasant and always greeted you. We had an obstructed picture window deck 8. It was mid ship and close to everything. The room was always clean. My only complaint is that smoking should not be allowed on pool deck, the port side was always full of smoke when you walked through. Most stores are closed on Sundays when you arrive in Bermuda but the dockyard has shops and restaurants that are open. Bermuda is expensive to eat, but we wanted to try some local flavor. Horseshoe Bay is a must see. Overall it was a great relaxing cruise and that’s how vacation should be. We will cruise again on Norwegian. Read Less

My family alway's wanted to do a family cruise, and since my wife and I were celebrating our 25th Wedding Anniversary we thought it would be perfect having our children there with us. Well we left Boston and headed into the Bermuda Triangle on Friday the 13th of April 2018, the weather was perfect, we (my wife, 3 children, and daughter's boyfriend) were very excited for the vacation of a lifetime. Everything was smooth leaving Boston, everyone in port, and on the ship was so helpful. We are so excited to start making this very special journey, if we had only known what awaited us. "Turning back the clock" I so needed this vacation, a couple weeks ago prior, my wife and I went to our friends Wedding in Las Vegas. The morning after the Wedding I received a phone call that my Best Friend passed away in Florida. My wife and I came back too Massachusetts, put our child on the school bus. I kissed my wife goodbye and flew to Florida. While at the funeral in Florida I received a message my beloved Aunt had just Passed away. I called my brother to inform him about our Aunt; he informs me that our dispatcher had not showed up for work and was found in her apt. R.I.P. Just when you think it can't get any worse I find out my oldest brother's daughters son had passed. Okay enough!!! All I can think about is that commercial where a couple is laying on the beach relaxing with a drink, a single cloud passes overhead and the comment: Yesterday was so much better! My wife and I needed that! Ok, our first day in Bermuda I'm emotionally and physically too exhausted to do anything. That night we kissed our kids goodnight (kids shared another room on the ship), so we thought. As I was about to shut off the light I got a knock on the door; it's my oldest son. he has a towel saturated with blood saying he had just chipped his tooth. Looking him over I noticed scrapes all over him. I asked my son: Ok, how the hell did you chip your tooth in your room? His reply: I rented a motorbike earlier in the day and decided to take a ride with my brother. OMG!!! Where is he? (thinking the worst)! His reply: back at the room. Younger brother was just scraped up; my wife gave my oldest daughter a first aid kit, and had her tend too my youngest son. My wife, oldest son and I went to the ships E.R. where he was x-rayed. His jaw was broken and fractured. So the ships medical facility wrapped his head with bandages to avoid any further damage. We went to Bermudas only Hospital by ambulance, we experienced Bermudas "way of doing things". Long story short, my sons jaw was wired shut. He now eats though a straw. All medical expeensives were paid upfront, maxing out all our credit cards. We did spend the rest of our time traveling to medical appointments on the island (taxi rides one way was $45 before tip). The Chefs on the ship were awesome, they were able to blend my sons food for the trip back home. As for me, the company I work for understands the debt I recently acquired, and is helping me. I now work 7 days a week. No matter the obstacles of Life...I still love my Wife! Read Less

We chose this cruise to avoid having to fly to Florida to embark. The staff was fantastic, our steward was great. Our stateroom immaculate and sooo nice. We loved it. The food was okay--looked better than it tasted. Overall, fairly average. Not bad, just not anything amazing. We were also VERY put off by the amount of area devoted to smokers. Half of the pool deck was a smoking area which is WAY too much. There were too many areas where smoking was allowed. Norwegian has to understand that non-smokers out number smokers, and most of us are extremely offended by second hand smoke. We could not enjoy the casino at all; it was disgusting and foggy with smoke. Very disappointing that one walk through left our clothes reeking of smoke. I wish Norwegian would consider a much more segregated area for smokers. Or a completely non-smoking pool deck or non-smoking casino? Read Less

This was our first cruise on NCL. Overall, we enjoyed the ship, the food and the entertainment and had a great time. The Ship The layout did take a bit of getting used to. We had to learn what decks you could go all the way through on and how to get to certain places. I also think the layout makes the ship feel slightly crowded in some places. But that being said, we really liked it and found it easy to navigate once we learned a few tricks. The one place that was consistently a zoo was the pool deck. Since the weather was cooler, hubby and I got spa passes and just used the hot tubs there instead of the pool deck and that for us is a good choice. The pool deck just wasn’t my thing. But if you like a hopping atmosphere 24/7 you’ll love it, we just preferred something more relaxing. Also for some reason deck 6 in front of Aqua was always packed with people. Also elevators were hard to come by at peak times. The Cabin We originally chose an inside cabin. We bid on a balcony and got it 9 days before the cruise. We ended up in a mid-ship balcony on deck 9 near the elevators which we LOVED. The location could not have been better. Hubby and I take the stairs almost everywhere and being just a few floors up or down from wherever we were going was perfect. The balcony was small but covered. It was great because it meant we could use it a bit more. I loved the shower in this room. It’s an actual shower with a door, not a tube so that was good. The bed was comfortable and although I had read about thin walls and hearing our neighbors, we didn’t hear them, although I could sometimes when I was using the bathroom. We had a couple of kind of gross things happen involving housekeeping. Also we never saw our steward or really talked to him, he was always busy. But we didn’t really need him so it wasn’t a huge deal. The only real negative is that the room was totally noisy at night. The seas were a little rough and our entire sleep was filled with a cacophony of thumping, creaking, cracking, bumping—I have no idea what was going on but I couldn’t wait to get to Bermuda so I could finally sleep. Usually I love sleeping on a cruise ship but not in this room. I had to use earplugs the last two nights tohave any hope of sleeping at all. The only other negative was that BOTH of our neighbors smoked on their balconies. The Drinks We got the UDP with our promo and a 24-pack of water. Most of the drinks were pretty good I thought and most are well under $15. Hubby got a few classic cocktails and most were made well. There were a few times we paid the difference as we don’t mind paying a few dollars for something we really want. It was annoying though when I wanted something that was below $15 yet not included—that didn’t really make sense to me. If it only costs $2.95 or $8 then why can’t I just have it? Also it's a big negative that bottled water is not included. Drink service was ok, sometimes there were lines but usually it wasn’t a huge wait except at of course the pool bar. The Food Overall we liked the food on NCL a lot. We don’t usually do the buffet except for cereal at breakfast but the one time hubby had a hot breakfast there it was pretty good. Also the buffet was slightly less frenetic than most and we could always find a clean table. Service was always good too. With the other choices, we just didn't have to eat there very much. We ate at the MDR Venetian several times, service was great, we never had to wait, and we enjoyed everything we had there. I would say this was my favorite MDR experience on any cruise. We always walked right in with no wait. We did not have the SDP but we ate at 3 restaurants anyway. We made reservations at Cagney’s and Los Lobos and walked in to Le Bistro. Cagney’s was great, steaks were delicious. Los Lobos was my least favorite but still good. The tableside guac, appetizers and margaritas were yummy, mains were just OK. Also it was really busy and the servers seemed harried. Le Bistro I would give 3 stars as to what I got. It would have been nice to have dishes explained more beforehand. So my experience was just ok. Hubby’s escargot and bouillabaisse however was outstanding and worthy of a 5-star restaurant. Our waiter was great and we sat and talked with him for a long time. The restaurant is very pretty also. We ate at O’Sheehans for lunch and breakfast several times and it was good too. Hubby loved the wings! We also ate at Bamboo and it was ok but if you don’t get there right at 5:30 when they open, you won’t get in. We were also not able to walk in to La Cucina, it was a 30-minute wait at 8:00. We didn’t bother to eat at Teppanyaki because we eat hibachi a lot here at home and have seen the show many times. The Service Service in general was fine. It was adequate overall with a few standouts. I am used to more attentive service, more conversation, etc. and sometimes we did get that but overall it was more no-nonsense. Not rude, just take your order, here is your food, are you ok, then goodbye. I kind of got the feeling no one was really looking for tips so they just did what was required and that was it. Which is certainly ok, it’s just not what I’m used to. Some people may actually prefer that. The Entertainment The cruise director was Richard Matic. I have never even paid attention to the cruise director until this cruise. Richard was amazing. We loved him. He and his cruise staff kept the party going night after night and looked like they loved every minute. I was amazed how they could do it time after time and look like it was the first time ever. The production cast was also the best I have seen on a cruise. These were obviously talented dancers with training and the choreography was also the most difficult I had seen on acruise. We saw several shows which was new for us. We saw the Welcome Aboard Show (really fun), Band on the Run (ok, not my favorite), Elements (amazing), and Soul Duo (also amazing). We had wanted to see the magician but missed it. We don’t normally care for comedians so we didn’t go but we heard good things about the one on our cruise. If we didn’t see a show, we normally sat in a lounge and heard live music. There was music in almost every venue which we enjoyed. The Dailies were very informative. I don’t know if most people read the whole thing but there were some great tips and stuff in there. There was a ton to do—I felt like we did alot and there was still some things we didn’t get to. The Excursions We did two excursions through NCL and enjoyed them both. One was a sunset swizzle catamaran cruise that we did the first night in Bermuda. It was fun and the guide was informative. The swizzles weren’t the greatest but it’s always fun to be out on the water and we saw a great sunset. The second was Hidden Gems which we really wanted to do but since we did it the last day and it’s a 7-hour tour, we felt better about booking it through the ship which turned out to be a good idea. Traveled on NCL before and was happy with their programs, excursions, and cost. The food has always been good. Bermuda was fantastic! We did not buy shore excursions since the transportation was right where the ship docked to take you to the beach for $14/couple. The ship was clean, as well as our room. Our room steward, Larry, was exceptional. He got a sizable tip beside the amount the ship charges. The room issue had me worried for awhile, but when the room service manager comes and stands over the workers to see it is done right, your worrys are gone. All the staff was courteous and wanting to please. They did everything possible to prevent germs and sickness. The ship was extremely clean, and there were plenty of germs sanitizers strategically placed for everyone’s use. Larry was such a blessing. He tried to please and perfect everything, every day. My wife and I cruised from Boston to Bermuda on the Norwegian Dawn Friday September 8 – Friday September 15. It was a 50th anniversary present to my parents. My dad’s best friend and wife went with us too. We had a wonderful time. The Dawn is beautiful; the renovations were definitely worth it. Everything on the ship felt like it was tailored for the passenger. The food was delicious, well prepared, had a nice variety and was always available. We dined in The Venetian, Aqua, The Garden Café and Topsiders. We bought the soda package and only drank alcohol a few times – the alcohol was reasonably priced. I visited the fitness center three times and we did some on board shopping. We attended the shows, trivia gatherings, The Second City, Showdown, Deal or No Deal and several others. The performers are all very talented. We took an excursion to the Crystal Caves and the Zoo/Aquarium. The guide was very knowledgeable and courteous. We spent about 8-10 hours in the casino. We have visited about 150 casinos around the world and the Dawn Casino is nicer than so many land-based casinos. We like that the table game minimum bets are lower that our local casinos in Rhode Island and Connecticut. They have many of our favorite slot machines. The Dawn crew is excellent. Every single crew member we met was polite, smiling and helpful. They made the cruise so much more enjoyable. Kudos to the Captain and his leadership team! We thought about what we would change. There are only a few. 1. My wife thought it was too cold inside the ship in some places, most notably The Garden Café and the Library. My parents agreed about it being too cold in some locations and we heard a few other passengers make the same comment. I did not mind the inside temperatures (I like the cold) but I will agree that it could be considered chilly in The Garden Café and the Library would be uncomfortably cold to many people. 2. We attended several shows in the Bliss Lounge. It is very nice but too small for several of the shows that were hosted there. It was standing room only for the Thursday night shows. We also attended trivia games in the Gatsby’s Bar which was also too small for the people in attendance. 3. We would have preferred that the casino be non-smoking. We felt that the smoking room next to Gatsby’s Bar and smoking outside was ample room for those that like to smoke. I am happy to tell you that none of these three items will prevent us from booking another cruise with NCL or specifically on the Norwegian Dawn. The next time we plan a cruise vacation NCL will be the very first place we look. We will definitely recommend NCL to all of our friends and family. What a great vacation!! Read Less

We took this cruise as a last minute deal to get away from Hurricane Irma. Had a wonderful time on board. Shows were great, food way to good, and staff was friendly and hospitable. What a way to ride out the storm. The fine dining was great except for the way you now get a certificate and can only choose one salad-or- soup. In the main dining room, you can order whatever you want, as much, or little, as you like. Fine dining is limited and sometimes I'd love to have a soup and salad. You have to pay extra. Not quite worthwhile when the main dining and buffet areas have such fabulous items too. The port is so easy to get around - just walk off and you're already in a fort. Jump on the free water shuttle to go to St. George's. Overall a fabulous cruise. Love NCL. Read Less
