This cruise and this ship were, all-around, an excellent experience. Friendly and helpful crew, top notch entertainment, excellent food and food venues!! Smaller ship with many passengers so it was full of energy and crowded at times, but, never-the- less, a relaxing vacation where you could set your own pace and schedule. Beautiful decor throughout the ship, easy to access all areas and easy to learn the lay-out in a very short time. Specialty restaurants were wonderful with masterfully prepared food that was just the right size portion. We can say enough to praise the pastry chefs on this ship. Every day different creations were delicious, as were all entrees. The view of the sunsets and sunrises from our cabin balcony was breathtaking at time. Organization of debarkation for Castaway Cay was poorly done with poor oversight in the lobby area (Atrium) so confusion reigned! However, this is the only negative I can say about this cruise. For the first time cruisers that we were, it introduced us in a wonderful manner to cruising....we will most probably return in the future! Read Less

My husband won a cruise from the casino. My husband play the tables and is very good at it. Our family call it his part time job, however he calls it fun. We cruise every other year on Royal Caribbean and when we received the cruise as a gift we took a chance. First we upgraded the room etc. which cost over $2500.00. I cant live in an interior room on any cruise line. We left from New york $300.00 pier parking arrived @ 10 am. The pier was packed because of other events which was an inconvenience because we were left to look for other parking garages. None the less we were excited to get away. The Dawn was filthy, unable to capture the views because the windows were dirty/cloudy etc. The toilets kept getting backed up. The casino had no air condition, can you imagine smoke and no air. The crew didn't provide any pleasantries. The crew didn't thank you, smile and the dining room staff including the specialty restaurants were RUDE. The entertainment I would give 1 star same group of people doing something. The ship doesn't have many activities, trivia hosted by people who barely spoke English. There's nothing to do on the ship, not a slide, hang glide, bumper car, Broadway show. They have 1 pool for over 20000 guest which is deceptive in depth, too deep. The pool claim to be 6ft well over, my husband is 6'3 water well over his head. I couldn't wait to get off of this ship. Their private island is awful nothing to do there except to look at Royal Caribbean Island which had a slide and plenty of activities. I was so disappointed when we took our shore excursion to Atlantis we started to cut our losses and stay at Atlantis and fly back to New york and get our car. The bed was slat with a dip in it, mattress need to be replaced. I had to keep calling to housekeeping to have someone change the sheets. Read Less

My wife and I celebrated our wedding anniversary with our first cruise on Norweigian Dawn from NYC. We both flew from Western Canada to join this cruise and we both were extremely impressed for the following reasons. First, the staff at Norweigian we're very helpful, energetic and amazing individuals. From the housekeeping, waiters, cooks, cruise staff, ship operations and entertainers these people are the back bone of your operation and I am very impressed how much preparation, thought and well executed everything was. We were very happy with the food experience as food in Garden Cafe (buffet) continually changed so often. Only lack lustre food was at Bamboo which was less than quality of food court Chinese food. The restaurants Aqua, Venetien, O'Sheehans were all fantastic with great food and great wait staff. All the ports of call were well organized and good options. This was the most excellent experience my wife and I have been on and we're very thankful to all the hard working staff. All the shows, comedian, magician and entertainers were amazing. The games were activities on board were fun too. Most shows/entertainment was geared towards demographics of 50-70 years old so therefore most of the songs we had no idea since we are in our early 30's. It would be nice to have songs that encapsulate a broader demographic. The ports of Port Canaveral wouldn't have enough time at Disney World (only 4 hours there) so we spent time at Disney Springs. There's not much to do at Disney Springs. Next time I think I would choose the Space station tour. At the Great Stirrup Cay it was an amazing little island with great service, beaches and fun snorkelling. At Nassau it was nice to see Atlantis. We were on Deck 5 and were quite happy with the accomodations having a window. The housekeeping was very good making sure everything was clean and in order. We were very happy with everything but we didn't win anything at Bingo, Deal or No deal, or got picked for any of the games. We would definately choose this ship or NCL again! Read Less

I was travelling with a group of 13 ages 55-65, the ship is very nicely refurbished not the neon colors like some others. Dining options are good, there is the Venetian which is the main dining room, the Aqua, another nice dining room but more intimate, O'Shannesey's Pub a fun bar and restaurant and the buffet. We ate at the venetian for breakfast most days, as we got to warmer climates outside the temperature rose in that room, it was hot, not sure if there was an AC issue. The Aqua is only open for dinner but was comfortable, menu is the same as the Venetian which offers many good options and was cooler. O'Shannesey's Pub had more pub food choices although each night they have a special, one night was prime rib. The buffet was actually very good, we ate there 2 nights and everything was fresh and well seasoned. Breakfast and lunch was a mad house each day, people sit at their table after they are done eating, play cards or scrabble leaving folks with no place to sit, it is rude! The Casino was fun, adequate amount of slot machines, craps, black jack and roulette tables but is of course smoky as they allow smoking but this was another area that was very warm. I'm guessing the temp was low 80's so there was no air flow, there was a huge lack of ventilation in the casino. Entertainment: We enjoyed the shows in the Stardust theater especially "Elements" a cirque de solei type show, it was fantastic. As far as general music around the ship they really missed an opportunity here. They offered 80's tribute music and our group was excited to attend but it turned out to be one woman on a piano playing mellow 80's, same for the Beatles tribute, the band VIP performed Beatles songs but chose all mellow, slow dance songs, again boring. We did really enjoy the DIsco night. We took 5 shore excursions, all were good with the exception of Peggy's Cove, we drove around town for an hour or so looking at historical homes which only left us 50 minutes at Peggy's Cove, it was lunch time so we quickly ordered lunch at the So eastern which was very good but we had to take half to go and never got to really spend time in and around Peggy's Cove. Too bad because it was beautiful there! Read Less

Hello. I was looking for a cruise to wind down and relax. However the cruise was a tornado of dysfunctional proportions by the cruise line. I get to the window and give them my passports. They ask for my room number. I offer it. The lady says, no the room number on the website is not your room. The supervisor female comes over and says they double booked us. Here is our number to our room. They gave us 2 sets of keys Incase (liability) all day long. We tried our room number from the website a gentleman and his female were in the room. He got angry with me from entering. Clearly NCL screwed up. Days 1,2,5 we had a toilet not working. I called days 1 & 2 to fix it. On day 2 the toilet comes out of the wall. I called guest services no answer, I tried again, finally someone answered. I said “didn’t you guys put the toilet back on after fixing it” I had charges from this other couple on my bill. I had photos on my card of this same other couple. On the day we were supposed to leave, I never got a letter that affords my group to be taken to Miami airport. Went down to the desk asked for the letter. The room number on the letter was different.... again. Plus all the charges on my bill were someone else. By fighting when them days 1,2,5 I was mentally exhausted by 8 pm. I had anxiety from the stress and my grandmother so angry. My grandmother has been on lots of cruises but this one was beyond her comprehension. I asked for a full refund. I didn’t enjoy at all. It didn’t live up to the amount I paid. The food was OK like a upscale Disney Park. The people working on the boat always smiling and exceptional. But no one has authority. Even when this guy hit me. No one took a interest in my concerns or safety despite writing in the comment box. And NCL never responded to my email. So. I would not recommend NCL Dawn. In good faith I was looking for a apologize. Don’t know if I will ever get it. The toilet came out of the wall bruised my leg. Just a really bad time. Read Less

We arrived at noon to embark and due to the volume of people, we had to make a line for emigration and it took us about an hour and a half to embark. Our first dining experience took place at the Venetian restaurant. We had a good experience due the service and food quality. After our lunch, we received an induction on the safety instructions which are mandatory by an international regulation. On the second day we went through a bad experience because we found bed bugs on both of our beds which we reported to customer service. Mr. Cardenas made immediate arrangements for the appropriate personnel to revise our room and we were moved to another room. Our luggage was taken by the staff as a percussion for laundry and steam cleaning for which we remained without our belongings until the following day. I suffered stomach flu with nausea and diarrhea during that night. I visited the medical center which prevented me from going to the excursion. The doctor ordered confinement with a special diet during 24 hours and I spent all Friday in my room. I wanted to watch TV all day and I discovered that there is a very limited channel selection which includes only one movie channel. I discovered that on the main menu of the TV there was an option for pay per view channels ($10.00) which in an air plane would easily be included on the fare. The lack of movie selection and the fact that I had to pay per view was frustrating and inconvenient. When my mother and her friend were able to go to the excursion that day and their experience was not the best because there was lack of guidance and they did not know where they had to take the bus to the Chacchoben Mayan Ruins. There was a lot of people and thy were going to different places so due to the lack of guidance it seem very confusing. We received the Freestyle Daily informational bulletin and we observed that some events are indicated as free but once you arrive, it is indicated that there is a cost to participate on them. We had the opportunity to visit the Garden Cafe, Venetian, Aqua and Bamboo which had variety and good service. The swimming pool was very small like a jacuzzi and there were so many people there that it was impossible to approach. The room service staff was friendly and professional as well as the waiters and buffet personnel and the customer service desk this made us feel well.We disembarked very early in the morning after breakfast and it was very organized. . I was a bit taken back after booking this cruise to have the Norwegian agent say you may be disappointed after being in the Bliss...a true statement. From embarkation, seemed like one ball drop after another. Met some truly wonderful people and staff- and as well some people I wish stayed home. Cabin older (10058-balcony) but clean, smaller. Toilet was small and on five occasions I had to call guest service- wouldn’t flush... someone a few cabins away kept blocking it. Met people who had no a/c in an interior, sewage smell , in their cabins.... one night on my deck an electrical fire broke out causing many to be evacuated to deck 13... we didn’t hear the commotion but heard thru passengers horrible stuff and handling. The smoking section at top of ship was flat out horrible traversing twenty plus steps. Food was good, specialty restaurants good, entertainment and music was so so.... same people same songs...all in all I will sail on Norwegian again but not on the Dawn. Also, I think Norwegian needs to deal with some of the surly staff and the way they handle problems or complaints. You have a wonderful product but Passengers who pay have rights too—help those or reimburse those with uncorrectable problems..instead of babysitting people who are in a large suite who act inappropriately, worry about the folks who work hard and want a wonderful experience Read Less

The ship has a small pool area for the amount of people that it takes, on land days that’s not a big problem but on sea days there’s definitely no room to enjoy that area unless you go save a spot early in the morning, the biggest problem we had was with the onboard entertainment, it was 5 days of the same over and over, the one day we had a night of somewhat good music I requested from vip band to play something for everyone and was told yes no problem but they played through their 50 minute session non stop and didn’t please the crowd, once they finished and the DJ Dylan came to his booth I again went to him and requested some Latin music and was told that I should have asked the band that was doing the Latin party and when I told him I did but didn’t get the request fulfilled he simply brushed me and stated playing something else completely different, take in account that there were only about 20 of us there at that time and we all wanted what I was requesting, the hallway on the 9th floor where my stateroom was located was always smelling like weed and the room itself was a 3.5 at best. Most likely I will not be vacationing with Norwegian again. The one girl from Morocco that was on the entertainment was the nicest person ever on that whole ship. Read Less

Deck 13 at open air bar only after refueling. And cigar room only. Casino smoking only when open. This was the 2nd cruise on the Dawn for my Mom and me. We did Boston to Bermuda a few years ago. This time, Miami to Costa Maya and Cozumel. We’ve been on larger ships, too, like the Breakaway and enjoy both the large and smaller ship experiences. We had a great time. The crew was nice, always friendly and always greeted us with smile and warm hello. Our room steward, Sandip, was very attentive and our ice bucket was always full and cabin always neat and fresh. He left us such a nice note on the last day and we told him a little about NYC, where the Dawn is headed next. The food was fantastic! We ate at either Aqua, the Venetian or O’Sheehans and hit the buffet for random snacks. The buffet was fine - it’s a buffet - our expectations were not high, but we didn’t eat there for major meals. We preferred the sit down and be served restaurants and were not disappointed. Prime Rib, NY strip, baked fish, homemade chicken cordon bleu, risotto, and mozzarella ravioli. Delicious desserts. The brownie cheesecake at O’sheehans was yummy. Service was great as well. The 2 main dining rooms had great choices every night. And served nice lunches, too. I read the reviews about the food being just ok or horrible. Not sure what these people ate or what they are used to, but I strongly disagree! Perhaps they were eating hot dogs from the Pool grill? At any rate, we ate complimentary dining every meal and came home satisfied. The shows were awesome. Loved Soul Rockin Nights and Elements and Po, the magician was fun. Didn’t see the comedian because we were pooped from the day on shore. But we played Deal or No Deal, enjoyed time in the sun on 12 and naps in the shade on 7 with gorgeous views. The weather was fantastic. Minor complaint - I forgot how SMALL the pool was. Holy crowdedness! Wall to wall bodies. But that wasn’t of major concern, But might be for some. The pool music was fine. Looked like everyone was enjoying it. Wasn’t of huge interest to us - we preferred the tranquil waves on deck 7. But all of n all, the Dawn is a nice small ship for a fun getaway. 5582 Costa Maya - we did a Mayan Ruin excursion. The ruins were interesting and excursion overall was good, however the trip there gave us an up close view of the poverty and horrible living conditions in the surrounding area. The roads were littered with trash, waste and general dirtiness. The cruise line, excursion company or someone needs to reinvest in the community and assist with cleanup and establishing a better sewer system. Read Less

We had a Mini-Suite underneath the Garden Cafe. Fortunately the noise was not too intrusive. The food in the Garden Cafe was inedible. The coffee was gut renching. The concept of "Freestyle Dining" was misunderstood by me. We did not realize that we had to "plan out our dining choices for the week". I was under the impression that "freestyle dining" meant that we could choose a specialty restaurant on the same day or on the fly. which we found out was totally not true. All of the specialty restaurants were Booked prior to the ship setting sail! What a huge disappointment! The food in the main dining rooms were average. Overall, the service was superb. The staff in the restaurants, cabin steward Jefferson Dulay, was exceptional. Our favorite shore excursion, Dancing Dolphin catamaran trip from St. Thomas to St. John was excellent. Val, Jason and Brandon were absolutely wonderful. The best shore excursion by far. We hired a taxi in St. Johns Antigua. Derrick was fantastic. The 2 hour tour was awesome. He took his time with each site and it did not feel as though you were sitting in a van looking out the windows. He made numerous stops and we got out to explore each stop. The taxi broke down on the way back and he made sure we were well taken care of in very little down time. Would hire him again for sure. Richard, the Cruise Director made each event we attended very enjoyable. He has a lot of energy! Ian, the dining manager made sure the dining room staff were efficient and kept things running smoothly. He was excellent! In spite of the things mentioned above, it was an overall enjoyable and relaxing trip. Read Less

We chose this cruise because of the itinerary + price that included some great extras. While we had a 4th FL room w/ only a porthole, we found it quite advantageous to avoid crowds and exit/enter very easily from the ports - they were on our floor. However, get an inside room, being right next to the exits can be quite noisy early in the morning. Overall we had a great cruise. While I wouldn't consider myself a cruiser, it is great for last minute planning if the ports are good. However, since we had the prepaid beverage/dining plan, we felt it was gluttonous and would likely not take those options again. While it was of course our own decisions, we really felt obligated to eat/drink even when we weren't hungry. It's hard to return from an excursion then wait until 8:00 to dine, so of course we had a bite in the buffet, bad idea! The steakhouse and French restaurants were the best, in line w/ the reviews. We also enjoyed the Asian restaurant, the churrascaria could be passed on. The staff was great, appreciated the focus on cleanliness and service. Our room was fine, helped to get so many extras with our package. So here are my 2 beefs. 1) I read all my materials so thought I was sure that we had most costs covered. Surprise - they now have a daily per person service charge to cover ship employees who do not receive tips. I am glad they pay good wages, but I am still very sore that this was not included upfront, very sore. 2) I feel like I was up-sold to fill an excursion that was only mediocre. The gentleman told me the Golden Eagle Sail & Snorkel was the best snorkeling on the trip. It was a great catamaran but sad, sad snorkeling. When I complained about the parts I did not enjoy, nothing was done. Had I known that St Thomas was THE place to snorkel, I would have gladly bought that excursion. Next time I'll do my research and likely book elsewhere for a more reasonable price. At every port, we found better options for full or half day tours of the island highlights. Read Less

NCL Dawn, March 3 to March 10. Mini-Suite Rm 11676 I’ll preface my critique noting that this was my first NCL cruise, but I’ll also add that I’ve cruised on Carnival and Royal Caribbean. First, boarding (mainly cause our departure was at 9:00pm) was very quick and easy - as I boarded at 1:00pm. Food in the Garden Cafe was available, and our room became available at approximately 3:00pm. We also booked three specialty dinning options, and our reservation times were all met. Teppanyaki: By far was my favorite. Great service, outstanding food from the edamame, fried rice and sea food selection was all worth it. Cagney’s: Was a close second on favorites. Great porterhouse steak. Le Bistro: Although the least favorite, it was worth the up charge. As for other food options, the Garden Cafe was OK - but not bad. The Venetian, Aqua and Bamboo were all good options if not at the specialty dinning location. Also, classy touch to provide appetizers at the casino later in the evening. We booked a few excursions, however the one that stood out was ANUD1011 Kayak & Snorkel Adventure on Antiqua. At $70.00 per person, we believe this excursion gave the most bang for the buck. Besides a ride thru the countryside, we kayaked thru the man grooves, hiked to a mountain top to view the Atlantic Ocean, then snorkeled. After our boat back to catch a bus back to the ship, water, rum punch and snacks we available. What really stood out was the professionalism and work ethic of the staff. Never a let down throughout the cruise - always courteous, and providing great service. The other thing that stood out was the ship never felt over crowded, and lines were minimal and always moved. If there was any negatives, general announcements were very hard to hear. The smoking room which was located on the sixth floor, sometimes leaked smoke into the bar area - and can be a bit overwhelming for non-smokers. Lastly, our Cabin Steward was very good, and besides the normal gratuities, I gave him an additional tip in person - but he didn’t seem happy. Not sure if I’m reading him wrong, or he was insulted. Overall, an oddly laid out ship really became its strength and appeal. And I took advantage of almost all of the ship, from sunning and swimming, sitting on my personal deck, multiple dinning locations, bars and gambling too - With my experience being excellent. I miss it, and would book another NCL cruise again. Read Less

We chose this cruise based on the ports of call rather than the cruise line. No disappointments with the islands we visited, all were very enjoyable. We did excursions at each port and they were as advertised for the most part. The crew on the ship was anything but Norwegian but were friendly and we had no complaints. We had a basic cabin with a veranda which was “cozy” but comfortable. The bathroom was tiny but functional. The restaurants were good, not exceptional, highly recommend the specialty restaurants although the costs add up fast. No shortage of bars but if you’re a bourbon drinker like me you will have very limited options and be prepared for “resort” liquor (very low proof). A special shout out to one bartender in particular, Leila, in the Gatsby. She’s not only the best on the ship but may be the best bartender we’ve ever met on a cruise vacation. We are not big on evening entertainment but if you are, it was very (sub)average. Despite the ships shortcomings, I would recommend this cruise. Read Less

The wine bar needs to be changed to a Five O’clock Sonewhere Sports Bar. No one ever in the wine bar. Liked no smoking around pool area and the main atrium bar serving drinks as well as coffee. Loved Ruby in the Aqua Restaurant. She was the best we’ve had in six cruises with NCL. We were very pleased with the itinerary on this cruise. This was our 2nd cruise on the Dawn. My fiancé and I are ages 30 & 35. We were told that the average age of cruisers on this trip was 55 years old, however ages probably ranged from 6 months to 90 years! I loved the ports the ship visited, which is the main reason why we chose this ship. It's a busy itinerary with only 2 sea days but I enjoy that. The value is also good compared to other cruises. Embarkation went ok. We arrived around 11:30 AM and were onboard about an hour later. The food is fine at the buffet and dining rooms. I loved the omelette and the crepe stations! The drinks were yummy too! I especially liked the mango meltdown, rebellious fish and daydreamer's daiquiri. Entertainment was wonderful. There was something different every night and multiple options. We saw dancers and singers, musicians, a ventriloquist, comedian, juggler, magician, and aerialists from around the world! I really enjoyed the gameshows that involved audience members, so funny! I love the Norwegian Elements show, featuring dancers, singers, and a magician. I really liked listening to pianist Nathaniel Reid at Gatsby's bar! Service was great! Staff were friendly and helpful. The room stewards we have had were awesome! During the days when we weren't in port, I preferred to spend time lounging by the pool, listening to the band or dj. Overall, I really enjoyed this cruise! Read Less

Buffet food was the same thing EVERYDAY No seafood night like other NCL lines we’ve been on. Also couldn’t hear the loud speakers from our room. The staff was definitely friendly an helpful. It would have been nice to have longer days at the ports. Leaving one island at 1:30 was pushing it if you had an Excursion. We enjoyed ourselves but would like to let others know what we experienced . Read Less

We decided to sail out of San Juan because of the iitenerary. It did not disappoint. Barbados and St. Lucia were great ports. The Virgin Islands were good as well. I like NCLfreestyle ways. Everyone on board was friendly and went out of their way to make your experience a good one. The room stewards are on point Adrian was ours and he was great. Pedro the entertainment director does a good job. The not so newlywed game had me in tears literally. I advise booking some speciality restaurants and booking early. They fill up fast. The complimentary restaurants get old after a while. The Dawn is an older smaller ship. It wears its age well. The ship is well cleaned. The staff is great. The dock party was a blast. NCL entertain better than carnival in my opinion. Moving the white party indoors because of weather was premature. Ended up being beautiful outside. Overall, it was a great trip. There are a lot of free giveaways in port. Check the insert of you daily entertainment publishing. Oh to my surprise, the drinks on NCL were poten. Not cheap, 10-15 each. But strong and tasty. The Norwegian Dawn embarkation and disembarkation were very quick and well organized. The transfer from the airport to ship was very well done but disappointed the ship was docked at the cargo port instead of near old town. One of the highlights of the trip was our pass to the sauna used every day of the trip-very relaxing.Room was mid ship balcony on deck ten and very quiet. Meals were fine in the free dining and buffet- lots of salad and fresh fruit. Didn't see any shows except the comedian and he was funny and clean jokes.Went on snorkeling excursions every day and enjoyed each one. Saw turtles, lots of different fish and a blue spotted moral eel. As usual some excursions were better than others. Our cabin attendant, Adrian. was terrific and very helpful. In fact all of the staff on the Dawn were friendly and courteous. Relaxing trip and would recommend for all ages. Read Less

It was a great way to see a number of islands in the eastern Caribbean. The value seemed like a deal and the 10 day length gave me enough time to see several islands on one trip. I scheduled several shore excursions and purchased a 7-day specialty meal package. I was a little disappointed my travel agent didn't take advantage of the "Free at Sea" promotion Norwegian was running at the time. It offered unlimited bar, free wifi/internet, a few free excursions, and several specialty meals. Now - to the trip. The embarkation process was fairly organized and with a little patience, not too bad of an experience. The cabin was as described - I suppose a little roomier than a standard balcony stateroom, but certainly not large. My biggest problem was - the location ... it was under the deck floor for the dining/pool area. Every morning at 4:30am, I was lucky enough to have a built in wake up call. The crew would BANG, DROP, DRAG and scrape the furniture across the wood deck ( which happened to be my ceiling) without consideration to time or where they were working. I went up the first day to explain to them they were above people's cabins and they looked at me like I was from MARS. Needless to say, it continued for every day of the cruise. If I cruise on Norwegian again, I will NEVER make the mistake of not knowing where my cabin is with regard to floors above and below. It was enough to make my cruise experience not a good one. The food on the cruise was better than average - I found the specialty restaurants were very good and the RSVP process was easy. The shore excursions were fun - not cheap - but easy and very well organized. Overall, it was a good trip ... however, I'm on the fence if I'll use Norwegian for my next cruise. Read Less

I went on the cruise because of the price and itinerary…it didn’t disappoint. I was solo and the solo program is great. Geeofel Villanueva was our coordinator and did a fantastic job! This was my first Norwegian cruise. My biggest complaint was the lack of activities and that the Freestyle Daily and app were incorrect. Activities listed in the Daily weren’t on the app. Activity locations were wrong in the Daily and app. The daily programs on other cruise lines are better. There was normally only two activities to choose from and neither were very exciting. The production shows were subpar. Besides those things, the cruise was very good. The cabin was very nice. The itinerary was excellent. The staff was absolutely fantastic, especially Geeo. All of the staff I interacted with remembered my name. The staff was friendly and helpful. The Cruise Director, Pedro, was too low energy for my taste. Read Less

This was my first time on the Dawn, second on Norwegian. We had cruised on the Escape in February so I wasn’t sure I would be very impressed with the older ship. The interior was beautiful and tastefully done. Our suite was fantastic. The only minor disappointment with the suite was that the middle windows were permanently discolored, so the view was partially obstructed and these windows had an air leak in the seal that whistled when we were cruising or if it was windy. The crew was amazingly friendly and attentive. The biggest disappointment was the food. On the Escape, we were all very happy eating at the buffet in the Cafe. On the Dawn, the food was terrible and unappetizing. Burgers looked as if they were hockey pucks, roasts sat under heat lamps and dried them out so they looked like shoe leather, and choices were quite limited. Cagney’s did not have ribeye steak during the entire cruise. La Cucina gave us reservations for 7:15 and when we arrived we were told there were no tables inside for us “because they had a large party of 9” so they could only seat us in the outside area that was smoky from the nearby cigar lounge and impossible to hold a conversation because of music being played at Gadsby’s bar. It is not the best environment for an up charge restaurant. The wait staff at the restaurants are well-trained and every server we had was pleasant and attentive. The servers in Moderno and Cagney’s were our favorites. Beverage servers in O’Sheehans and Gadsby’s knew our names and remembered our favorite drinks. The crew seems genuinely happy for the most part and that helped make our trip a good one. I would travel in the Dawn again, but would love to see them up their game in the food department, especially the Garden Cafe. Read Less

I needed a cruise to get away and relax and I have always wanted to do the Caribbean. Looked into cruises and this one gave me the most islands for the dollar.yes it is an older ship with some flaws but the staff and crew seemed to go out of their way to make sure I had an enjoyable time. Only negative I had was in the spa. After a massage I got the hard sell to buy their products. Even after saying no a couple of time they kept trying to sell me product. After meeting a crew member once they knew my name and always smiled and said hello. Public rooms were always nice and clean, pool deck had plenty of room and always music or something fun going on. Nightly game shows were fun to go to. Excursions were good and a lot of variety in the choices. Read Less
