Disclaimer: "I am an avid NCL cruise fan and stock holder. I only cruise on NCL as they are the best brand for me with the free-style attitude. I prefer not to have a dining time, and prefer to just do what I want to do when I want to do it. NCL provides that for me, so I stick with that is not broken. This cruise was my 15th cruise on Norwegian and 14th different boat. Yes, I know kind of crazy, but it just worked out that way. I am also going on the Epic in June, and that boat is the only one I've not been on." The Norwegian Bliss was by far my worst experience on an NCL Ship. To put it lightly I hated it. The main reason is that it is way too crowded. The ship is big, and yet too crowded (that tell you something). This is especially true with the buffett area. There really isn't a great outdoors on this ship, which really sucks because that tends to spread people out. You cannot find a table in the buffet area for at least 15 mins. At some points, you see people standing up and eating. A terrible design, just horrible. If you get on this ship, you will be frustrated just as I was. Now I did figure out that the 15th deck (the one with the glass around it FWD) has a small buffet. That tended to be a bit less crowded. I can imagine on the Alaska cruises it won't be as I am sure more people will flock there. The whole go-cart thing is the real reason the boat is so crowded. They decided to build that to look cool, but in the end it took a lot of space they could of used for other things. I think eventually it will burn them. As I mentioned the buffet could be much bigger, and should be much bigger. Not to mention, the same problem goes with beach chairs. You won't get one unless you get there at 6-7:30am. After that forget it, you won't get a chair. This will also frustrate you. I have to say the staff were awesome just as they are on all of the ships I go on. The exception is the guest services people as they sometimes are incompetent. Everybody else is fantastic especially the bartenders. The meals on this ship were not as good as some others. The only good meal I had the entire time was in Cagney's. Everything else was just average or just plain not good. The only thing good in the buffet was the Indian food. Everything else was just average. This is surprising because this is the first time that has happened. Out of 15 cruises on NCL, this was the only time I was real disappointing with the food. I still haven't figured out why they don't open Spice H2O every night as that is the best place on the ship at night. Fresh air dancing, and drinking. Yet they only have it open for one night and half. Makes no sense to me. Other ships had it open most nights. Embarkation and Debarkation were smooth. I am a Platinum Plus member, so my opinion on that isn't really relevant. But I do think NCL is getting better and better with embarkation and debarkation. As I mentioned, I am a NCL fan. I love the brand, but there is no way I will be back on the Bliss. Not a shot in the world. The other boats are much better in just about every way. I would highly recommend doing your research before booking a cruise on the bliss. Read Less

Did this cruise with a group of 26 people. While the ship was overall beautiful and the food and drinks were great, the price was way too high for what you got. We got the unlimited drink package and the 4 night specialty dining option. While the food and drinks were amazing, the service in 2 of the main dining halls (The Manhattan Room and Taste) were terrible. Took over 2 hours just to get our food and we were seated right when they opened. If you didn't book a reservation for any of the other specialty restaurants or the 3 main dinning halls when you first got on and had to be right when they start boarding, you had to wait to eat a nice dinner at almost 8-9 pm or go eat in the buffet. The one comedy show I was able to see had some very funny comedians and Jersey Boys was awesome but trying to get into these shows was terrible. They put you in a stand by line if you don't have reservations and if people show up 10-15 mins late, they still let these groups in. Wasn't fair in my opinion to those that were there 10-15 mins prior to showtime to get a seat waiting in stand by. Same with the Go-Karts and Laser Tag. The Go-Karts were fun but not worth the extra $10 in my opinion. The staff at the go-kart track was terrible and they let young kids (8-9 yrs old) race that cant even see over the steering wheel, barely reaching the pedals, are not staying over in the right lane so you end up running into them if they can't make the turn. They also get mad if you accidently bump into someone who crashed or cut right in front of you. They also don't even have a standby line for any solo racers so they would let 8 karts go in one and then send out 5 in the next group. Also, you would book a time for 3pm but wouldn't even race until almost and hour later. Also good luck if it rains because if so, they cancel your race without being able to rebook and just give you back your money. Not really fair in my opinion. Both activities they just show you a video and then let you go. Overall the reservation system is total garbage. Outside of those, the Cabin/stateroom is very nice and the staff take very good care of your room and your belongings. Overall, its nice if you just want a getaway but not worth the extra money they nickel and dime you for. Would much rather be back on Carnival next time. Read Less

we cruise about 2 times a year with Carnival, tried NCL Bliss as it was a new ship and sailing out of Los Angeles to Mexico which made it very convenient. Boarded ship and prepared for great mexican riviera cruise (Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlan, and Cabo)..after 2 hours we were notified that due to a hurricane we were being diverted and going to San Francisco, San Diego, and Ensenada. They completely lied to everyone who could have cancelled the trip prior to leaving and sail another time however they failed to notify us. TERRIBLE shame on you NCL! The weather was cold and dreary..not exactly what anyone had clothes packed for and due to a travel agency annual convention we were shut out of many areas of the ship during the entire week for private functions including the pool deck on 2 occassions, the bewhouse multiple times, the social club, etc.. The ship is beautiful however our cabin hallway always smelled of diesel burning, not sure why. The ships vibe was very off and during the one day we finally had a little sun they decided to show a movie on the pool deck..no live music, no recorded music..terrible. Never saw any activities on the deck. Diverted us without notice then had no shore excursions planned. People tried to get off in San Fran because they lived there and were denied or it would cost terrible fines. HORRIBLE ANNIVERSARY! NCL offered us NOTHING for this, I understand the hurricane and being diverted but they knew well ahead of time and told us nothing! we could have rescheduled as NOBODY wants to be prepared for warm weather and end up in a cold city where you would pay zero to go as you live close to it anyway. Waste of money and no consolation from NCL. THey should have offered discounts or partial refunds but they did nothing for us at all. Complaining to corporate office..shame on you NCL for not being upfront and honest with your passengers! Read Less

We are NCL Platium members, having sailed on many NCL ships. We booked the Bliss as its a new ship. First 4500 passangers is too big especially for the ship's resources. The crew was unahppy and unfriendly and it showed it everywhere (there were 4 staff exceptions only - Cruise Director, Joseph in Smokehouse and 2 Cruisenext staff)). Managers were always frowning and disapproving. The restaurants were booked before the cruise and we had to wait to get in and then it was 5:15 or 8:15. I will commend the La Bistro and Teppenyacci as the quality I expect on an NCL ship. The rest was mediocre. The ship had 1 pool for 4500 guests. Smaller ships have 2 pools -downsized for a bigger ship - why? There other NCL ships and a pool side grill - this ship has taken that out and replaced with with Margarettaville for $ 14.95 for a burger that is free in the buffet Prohibition was a fun show. Jersey Boys which was closing after this cruise had medicore voices at best. Havana was as amateur as I have ever seen except 1 bearded dancer and the 2 female singer leaders who were really good. This ship was over crowded everywhere. The staff pushed the buffet for meals as the other restaurants were overwhelmed. Do yourself a favor and look for a smaller ship than this ship which was big enough to fail. Read Less

1. when NCL Bliss came to Seattle, we were expecting Epic kind of service or amenities. But the Bliss was way worse than what we were expected. we paid $9000 for 4 of us in same room, the room doesn't have enough closet space or drawers for our close, have to 2 of us has to use our luggage, placing at the middle of the room. 2. can you imagine the Specialty Restaurant served the exact same dish as regular Main Dining Room? ( in this case is La Bistro & Manhattan), it's a rip off. we were on Heaven Category so we got to dine at Heaven Restaurant but the quality was not as good as before, NCL used to serve special meals for each destination like Mediterranean Cruise with Seafood, Alaska Cruise with King crab leg, but with the Bliss none of those (even with Pearl, they don't serve it any more) and the selections are getting scares ..... 3. the dining room hours are so limited you have to rush yourself......... otherwise you end up eating in your tiny room....... the Concierge wasn't helpful unless you pile up the green notes upfront....... very realistic. I do give extra tips for those who worked behind the scene, wait staffs or housekeeper daily...... they are hard workers and were almost at the point being abused by NCL the Only reason I chose NCL is because of my MOM, who is wheelchair-bound, I like the free style..... but the Bliss isn't made for , or accommodated for Handicapped persons. Showroom alone is not made for one...... the wheelchair area were not made for watching the show unless you are really tall, my Mon can sit there but can only watch the wall in front of her..... the rest of the handicapped seats are those 2 rows down the stairs and only have one opening out........ not recommended..... One more thing, you have to check your bill diligently or NCL tend to over charge you unless you complaine. Read Less

We chose the Bliss because of all the amazing videos we saw and everything we heard from our travel agent. I will start with the positives: - If you're a single or older couple with no kids, this cruise MAY be for you - Good options for entertainment - Paid/ upcharge restaurants were definitely better than included ones - Alaska ports made the trip worthwhile Now, for the things we do not like and why we will never choose Norweigan again: - Maybe because the Bliss is so new, this could explain the utter lack of organization of the staff - Food at Buffet, Taste/Savor (same food) and Manhattan was very mediocre (at best) with no place to sit in the buffet restaurant - Our room (10-154) had a horrible banging/knocking in the walls and for 3 straight nights I go ZERO sleep, for a vacation it was unbearable - The spa passes were pointless and way over priced (again with kids, it's very difficult to coordinate since the kids clubs closes for 2 hours chucks all through the day) - The arcade and bowling machines will charge you repeatedly whether you used/ played the machine or not (and the way we were treated when we brought up an extra $6 charge was atrocious...) -Staff on cruise aren't empowered to do anything. So, if you have issues you have to write a complaint post cruise and they say it takes up to 15 business days to get a response - The app is trash and they charge you $9.95 per person to use it - Most things were constantly closed down (laser tag, mini golf and race track) which attracted us in the first place - Most things on ship are an extra cost so it's a constant nickel and diming vacation - Not a lot of family friendly activities - Havanah was just awful (as you will see in every other review) but there was really no need for the actors to light up real cigarettes in Jersey Boys (it was disgusting and made the whole theater smell) - The common spaces like the observation area are ALWAYS packed and people put their gross feet on the furniture and no rules are enforced. NOTE: We had a balcony but if you get an inside cabin it will be very hard for you to find a "common space" to relax and enjoy when there is anything to see outside - No drawers/ clothing space for fmaily with kids (if you're just 2 people, I imagine the closet space would be fine - The worst traffic flow I've ever seen on a ship. Elevators are always packed and no one wants to make space for new people (so you will be climbing 5-10 flights of stairs all the time to get where you need to go) - Captain decided to not go to the glacier which was a huge selling point for us. Given all the equipment they have on board it was more of an issues of not “wanting” to rather that not being able to. Why not save their gas and effort, right? We literally turned around. Overall, this is a cruise where the food is bad, few options for families, the staff is not empowered to make anything right which means absolute HORRIBLE or non-existent customer service, over-crowded ship with poorly planned traffic flow, this was not a vacation this was a total disappointment. As with anything, we have each other so spending time together was the best part but I would not waste money with Norweigan (they appear economical but after being charged for EVERY SINGLE THING) they are way more pricey. I will be booking with Disney Cruise from now on until kids are older (they have exquisite food, service and pretty much everything is outstanding). Read Less

First time with NCL, but cruised dozens of times with others. The food was terrible....everywhere! We tried the Garden Buffet several times. The food was barely warm to cool. I guess this forced us to the specialty restaurants, which were also disappointing. Considering we were on an Alaskan cruise, it was next to impossible to find fresh, hot seafood! I was told, “If you want fresh salmon, good luck.” The one entree I had was SO over cooked and dry...ughhh. The crowds, the kids running around unsupervised and the overall feeling of just being another buck to pay for this new ship was overwhelming. With the Ultimate Beverage Package, you can’t get even a small bottle of Perrier or Pelligrino, but you can have up to $15 of liquor!! The casino was NOT paying out to anyone! Spent over $6k!! We will never endure this misery again to be treated like cattle. Read Less

I chose this ship because I sailed on the Pearl and Jewel. They were pretty nice ships and had a lot of great activities to do. Unfortunately, the Bliss is too big. 4,000+ people with about 1500 staff. All the shows were booked before I got on the ship, nearly all the specialty dining was booked before we got on the ship, the elevators were constantly packed, the buffet constantly packed, the staff were overworked, over exhausted and probably underpaid.... They charge for EVERYTHING!! It didn't matter if you had the dining package....Ocean Blue added an additional $18 per person to eat there and the food was raw!! Disgusting. I truly had the worst experience every on this ship. Shore excursions were amazing of course because Alaska is amazing, but choose another ship to enjoy this Alaskan adventure unless you like crowds and lots of pushy people making their way to all parts of the ship. Oh, and if you decide to try out the fitness room just to kind of get a little exercise, be prepared to be belittled while you are there by the fitness guru who knows it all. Read Less
