We cruised to Alaska last year twice on the Ruby Princess and it was such an inspiring journey, I knew we wanted to go back. This year we decided to return on NCL Bliss because it was big and new and sounding very exciting....and it was. We sailed out of Seattle and the embarkation was a breeze, very organized and very quick. But the scene outside the terminal.....a zoo! NCL docks downtown Seattle at Pier 66, not at Pier 91 outside of town like Princess. The terminal is directly across the street from railroad tracks and adds to the chaos. The public street is narrow and with all the buses, taxis, limos, shuttles, and private cars it is very challenging just to get to the drop off location. The taxi drivers made it even worse by stopping in moving traffic, moving street cones, and cutting across lanes to the curb. So just be warned, especially if you are dropping someone off or in a private car. The ship is beautiful with lots of entertainment, over-the-top buffet, and plenty of bars and eatery's. The shops are all very pricey, not like most other cruise lines that keep prices competitive with the ports. You cannot bring water or beverages of any kind on board and the Unlimited Drink Package is expensive ($89 per day) and does not include water or brewed coffee. In fact the only specialty coffees on board are at Starbucks and that is not part of the cruise or beverage package....it is pay per drink. Lots of speciality restaurants you can pay to dine, or eat in the buffet, 3 included dining rooms, or the awesome cafe called The Local. This is a pub-like bar and eatery. They have the best breakfast, fish & chips, and lots more food, including an amazing tortilla bowl. Best part is they are open and serve off the menu 24 hrs! They also have a bar and seating around the atrium on deck 7. I want to give a huge shout out to one of the best little excursions we have had on any cruise. It is in the Port of Juneau, called Alaska Pedicab-Juneau. They are local and can usually be found at the dock or in town to escort you around town or just from the ship and back for about $5. But you can arrange for a 90 minute tour of town and landmarks around town for $90 that includes 2 people. It was fantastic, so personalized to where ever you would like to go. The owner, James took us all over downtown and to some of the historic monuments and statues dedicated to the town's history. He also took us out to Whale Park where we got a great picture of the news view in Juneau. Be sure to look up Alaska Pedicab-Juneau. They also have a Facebook page. And finally the disembarkation back in Seattle was so easy. We picked the Port Valet service as it is FREE! Your bags are picked up the night before docking, the ship checks in to your flight and delivers your boarding passes and bag tags to your room. Your bags are taken directly to the airport for your flight and you don't pick them up until you are back at your home destination. We got off early with our carry on luggage and was at the airport before 9am, our flight was at noon. So simple and easy. Read Less

This was our first ever cruise and we thoroughly enjoyed the ship, the itinerary, the crew and the meals. After reading the somewhat mixed reviews of the ship and trip, I was slightly concerned about our booking. While there were some small items that could be improved, it was a really great trip. As others have noted, it’s a large ship and thus you need to plan ahead to carve out the optimal vacation. Service was consistently friendly and thoughtful. The room steward was fantastic and the dining staff great. (For context, we dine out often and typically stay at 4 and 5-star hotels so have a high expectation for service). Below are some more specific thoughts to help plan your trip: • We were in a mid-ship mini-suite – 12824. Cabin was very nice, bed was super comfortable (billed as a queen but felt more spacious). Sheets were so-so soft and the pillows we’re ok (I brought one of my own). Plenty of storage, spacious bath room. Balcony was perfectly fine/spacious. Given how much there was to do and the fact that you’re in Alaska, we didn’t use it a ton but left the slider door open every night to get a fresh breeze while sleeping. • Plan ahead. This is perhaps the most important thing to do. We book all our specialty restaurants and entertainment the day it became available to do so (120 days prior to sailing, I believe). This allowed us to ensure we got in the restaurants we wanted at the time we wanted. We also booked the Thermal Spa Pass ahead of time. Also, we planned to board early so that we’d be able to secure passes to the Vibe Beach Club, which is super important. We didn’t have any issues booking excursions but did plan these a few weeks in advance. • Thermal Spa Pass: For a fee ($129?), you can get a full week pass to the spa which was important for us. I provided a great place to get away from crowds and offered a beautiful viewing area. I’d highly recommend this. • Vibe Beach Club. I’d also highly recommend this. This area provided a sanctuary from the crowds as well. For ~$139/week, you get access to a “private” deck with its own bar, cabanas, loungers and hot tub. Was amongst the best part of the ship. The crew here (Ruby and Randy) were soooo friendly and helpful, ensuring our every need was met. Again, we’re in Alaska so it can get cold up there; however, there are blankets to use to keep warm. While I believe they sell ~75 passes (not certain about the number, but limited), we never saw more than 10 people at a time on the deck. Run to the guest services to get these passes. • Spa services: This was the one area where service was not great - - there was constant upsell throughout the process to book a massage; and post massage, also an attempt to sell you products. The massage itself was great – I asked for deep tissue and was almost crying because of the pressure - - a good thing for me. • Restaurants: Our favorite was La Cucina – dined there twice. Delicious food, tasty wines and great service. Ocean Blue was also great - - both food and service. Cagney’s food was very good – service was perfunctory at best. Teppanyaki was really fun – with good food/service. Q was so-so, food was OK as was the service. We ate at Taste/Savor for lunch and both of these were perfectly good – busy but the staff is accommodating. Coco’s for crepes was delicious. • Cellars Wine Bar: Would highly recommend. Great wine selection and very helpful staff. Throughout the cruise, they have wine-classes you can take (for a fee). Was really fun and informative. • Common Areas: The Observation Lounge and the Garden Café can get crowded. The Café was often a zoo – with so many people for breakfast. We grabbed breakfast there but then took it to the Observation Lounge which worked must better. Also, some of the crown can be a challenge – e.g. kids running around, bare feet on loungers, poor manners. Overall not an issue, but at times a distraction. • The overall ship furnishings and décor are really beautiful – first rate and very nicely done. In sum, would highly recommend this ship and the Alaska trip. We’d definitely do it again. Read Less

We chose this boat because it is a brand new ship, started sailing just two months prior, and we loved the itinerary. The stops were great, we loved the excursions chosen, food was good, service was great, and we took full advantage of the drink package. We enjoyed the shows, bands, live music, trivia, and hot tubs. I was surprised there was no lobster served in the dining room - first cruise I have been on where this was not on the menu. However, the food was food, and we would sail on this boat again. Our first stop was Ketchikan where we did off road vehicles through the woods. This was a great tour. We wish it would have been longer. It was about twenty minutes out and twenty minutes back, but it was so nice to be outside. We spotted a mother bear and two cubs which is a rarity. We felt really blessed to have seen them out in the woods. The tour guides were kind, and informative. Our second stop was Juneau where we decided to go whale watching. We chose Alaska Galore Tours because they had small boats. We were on a boat that held 15 or so along with a boat captain and tour guide. We learned so much, and saw 5-6 whales turning in the water about 15-20 times. Unfortunately, it was raining, but we still would have chosen this tour again. We were supposed to go by Sawyer Glacier, but the weather was too bad as it was very cloudy and icy. We still saw some beautiful scenery from the boat, and it was a lovely evening on the balcony. Finally, our last day was in Skagway. My husband and father-in-law went on a helicopter to walk around on the glacier. it was short, 20 minute ride out and 20 minutes back with about half an hours walking around and learning about the glacier. We would recommend. We also did the train ride up the mountain. It was informative, beautiful, and again, we would do this same tour all over again. The bands at night were great, especially the guy in the piano bar. He was funny and incredibly entertaining. My in-laws loved Jersey Boys, the broadway show. We would absolutely sail on Norwegian and on this same boat again. Read Less

I chose this cruise as I see The Bliss go by my home every week. I have heard a lot about this new ship, and wanted to see Alaska again. A friend who cruises NCL all the time recommended this ship to me also. In the future I am looking forward to taking a NCL cruise again. The whole crew was so friendly, welcoming and helpful. They would always have a smile for you, and did their utmost to make you have a wonderful cruising experience. If I had to review a "con" of this trip it would be the observation deck. This area is so beautiful floor to ceiling windows to take in the sights. The only issue is that the information asks that when you sit on a lounge, you respectfully put no shoes on the lounge, and wear socks or stockings. Folks totally disregard this and it is not enforced by the cruise line. It should be addressed, as who wants to see someone's dirty feet or shoes on the furniture, kind of disgusting. There was a lot of this going on. Folks just don't care, and they also thought it okay to "save" seats, which is not allowed. They would sort of try to "camp out" for the whole day stretched out on a sofa, no one else could have a seat. With 4000 passengers, seats are for everyone to enjoy, not just a select few. Read Less

We have been to Alaska three times and decided to go with NCL’s new ship the Bliss we had a great time have been on NCL before to Alaska and another cruise line by far NCL is the best. The food on NCL is great but not in all areas ,but the specialty restaurants are great, the Mexican restaurant Los Lobos was excellent, the Italian restaurant La Cucina was fantastic,the food was fabulous and the service was beyond great they with out of their way to take care of us. Our room was a little small we had a balcony which was great for Alaska viewing, I highly recommend it. I miss not having drawers in the state room, I really like how you remodeled the NCL Dawn and put drawers in the wall. The ship was beautiful all of common areas were clean and the shows were fantastic. Jersey Boys was fantastic!!!!! We were disappointed in not getting to see the glaciers due too the weather, but that is the chance you take. I’m glad that was not your first time to Alaska. Read Less

We chose this Norwegian cruise when our local travel agent announced an Alaskan cruise last November and it was an item on our BUCKET LIST! I had never been on a cruise before so this was my first time. The ship is beautiful and it was a delight sailing on our Alaskan adventure with Norwegian! Our balcony cabin was very comfortable and we enjoyed the ability to sit on the balcony and watch the sunrise each morning! Natalie our cabin steward was an absolute delight and was there to make sure we had all that we needed! We never met an unsmiling face from the entire staff - from the restaurant staff to the bar staff - they all just wanted to make sure you were having a great time! I had seen some reviews before we sailed that were not as complimentary of the staff - but all I can say they must have been on a different ship because our experiences were all positive! The food in the complimentary dining rooms was top notch and we never had to wait to be seated! You had choices of 6 or 7 entrees along with appetizers and salads and dessert - all included in the price of the cruise!!! My grilled salmon and shrimp ravolli in lobster cream sauce was very very tasty!! Breakfast in The Local was a morning treat for us. We took advantage of prepurchasing a 3 dinner dining package for the specialty restaurants on board. We really enjoyed the La Cucina Italian Restaurant (in spite of a rowdy family who kind of dominated the room) - in hindsight we should have taken the balcony seating! :-) My Sea Bass was great and the mushroom risotto was very rich and creamy!! Los Lobos was a very good Mexican Restaurant and my Carne Asada was fabulous. The Q - barbq was ok but the brisket needed more bark! Margaritaville was again ok but the key lime pie was the absolute best I have ever had!! Well worth it! We had a drink package and the bar staff was friendly and accomodating! From Mojitos, to Margaritas, to Mudslides, and the Bloody Marys in the Observation Deck were DELICIOUS!! Plus wine with any meal or just an afternoon treat! We especially enjoyed the Beatlemania performances that highlighted the group from beginning through Abbey Road! They were very good and it was complimentary! The Jersey Boys were just as great and again complimentary - these are performances you just should not miss! I would sail again on the BLISS in a heartbeat!! You should too! Read Less

This was a cruise for nine people in our party to celebrate birthdays and an anniversary. We couldn’t have picked a better cruise line or ship! What a fabulous surprise! The amenities, food and ship employees and service, as well as the surroundings was 5 Star all the way! As this was my first cruise, I didn’t have anything to compare to but I must say I’ll probably have a much higher standard to gauge any other cruise line or ship for that matter. I was so spoiled by the service, quality of the food and things to do, that it is hard to come back to the real world! And it makes me want to go on another cruise in the next year or so. We were so well treated and I got to meet so many new people from around the world. The shows, art work, pools, food, observation deck, lounges, laser tag, go cart race track (who thinks these things up?!); whatever you wanted to experience was there. One of my most favorite things was learning about the artist who painted the ship (Wyland!); his conservation efforts, paintings and murals and watched his channel when in the stateroom every chance I could get! This man and artist is AMAZING! Amazing and so talented! My next cruise will probably be on the Bliss just because of this artist!! Read Less

I have read a few of the most recent reviews and I feel the need to defend NCL because I am hearing a lot of the same complaints I heard on the ship. Yes, there were multiple medical emergencies, that's what happens when the average demographic is 74 years old. There were a couple medical evacuations people never even knew about, that is called HIPPA and a person's right to privacy. The Captain had to make a tough call when the coast guard did not answer distress calls, nor was a medical evacuation possible for a young woman who walked on the boat healthy and fell deathly ill from an infection that later took her life. If that was my loved one, I pray they would make the same choice and I am comforted that they chose trying to save a human life over make a popular decision. I realize there were a lot of disappointed passengers, but please take comfort in knowing that collectively we did everything possible to help save a human life. Now, for my review... Getting to the ship from the airpot in Seattle, the $20 NCL shuttle was easy. They took my luggage right from the baggage claim and the next time I saw it was outside my stateroom door at 6:30pm. An Uber would have been about $40 for a solo traveler, so it saved me money. Check in was easy and I was early, so I enjoyed the Seattle Pike Place Market before returning to the ship for embarkation at 11:30am. I would recommend going straight to the observation lounge if you're like me and need to charge your phone. There are hidden charging ports in the lamps. Comfortable seating and really good food (salmon chowder) were calling my name on day one while the Garden Cafe was over run with people. You are allowed in your rooms after 1:30. I booked my room last minute, no solo supplement for a really great price ($499) with an inside guarantee and was assigned a handicapped accessible inside state room. The room was really spacious and would be great for a person in a wheelchair. I am guessing it to be 200 square feet, the only problem for me was that I confused the lights with the automatic door opener and would accidentally open the door while standing in my underwear. I'm guessing I would have figured it out eventually, but I had a request to change rooms due to a handicapped passenger needing the room. I was asked very graciously and politely, since I'd already shown the neighbors more of me than I cared to, I voluntarily gave it up. Linda, the accessibility coordinator told me that at 24 into the cruise, there were no longer any larger rooms available for an upgrade, but she offered me either a studio or inside cabin plus a $200 on board credit. I happily accepted the studio cabin since I was solo and wanted to have access to the solo lounge. I had a really hard time finding my interior room on deck 13, I felt like I was in a maize, once I switched to room 12517 in the Solo Studio, I never had trouble finding my room again. This brings me to NCL's Solo Cruiser Program. I am so impressed with this program. The Solo Host, Jose Jaramilla, went above and beyond in assisting every solo cruiser whether you were in the solo studios, or not. I met him the at the first meet and greet in the Mojito Bar on the first day and he brought everyone back to the solo lounge and explained the program. An itinerary with show dates and times was provided where selected seating had been reserved for the solo cruisers to sit as a group. It was in the far lower right corner, but at least you weren't sitting by yourself. You could sign up for one or all of the activities and there were daily meetings followed by dinner for those that wished to eat with the group. What a wide variety of ages, 22-75, ethnicities, and personality types. From the introvert to the extrovert, there is something for everyone. Jose did a great job ensuring everyone had a great time. For solo cruising, NCL has my vote 100%. Jose is also seen during many of the game shows and theme parties, which were pretty low key with the generally older demographic, but he is hilarious. The solo cabin itself it small, 99 square feet with less than a full size bed, but it's well designed. The shower and the toilet feel more like you are in a rocket or coffin, so I was really wishing I'd shaved my legs in that handicapped accessible bathroom. There is a virtual window and you do have access to the solo lounge where there is an espresso machine, ice water, fruit, orange juice, and pastries always available. It was very easy to meet other solo cruisers in the lounge which was a huge perk. It was like a little ship in the ship. I did not get in on a free at sea with the super low rate, so instead I brought on two bottles of wine and paid the $15/bottle corking fee. This was enough alcohol for me and the bar tenders were quite pleasant and entertaining even though I wasn't ordering a bunch of alcohol. They seem to keep up with demand and for those that couldn't get drinks fast enough, I would recommend some of the quieter bars like the whiskey bar, wine bar, mojito bar (love Black Cowboy), or the bar in the observation lounge. The atrium bar was always busy, but I thought the guys were great. I loved the adults only Spice H2O for the hot tub to watch the sunset, although it could have been a bit hotter. It was a chilly sprint out and to the heated hallway. It was too chilly for the pool for me, but I did lay out one day and watch festivities. Freestyle dining was made easy, I was always seated quickly with my group and ate in the complementary restaurants except for Cagney's one night and Sushi at Food Republic. I enjoyed the lighter lunch food in the observation lounge, it seemed a little more on the gourmet side. The Garden Cafe was OK, I always seemed to catch the half hour between breakfast and lunch when there was really no food. Kids and adults who love ice cream will be happy, there were numerous Ice Cream Stations, both hard and soft serve, although I'm not positive about the hours. The food in the Main Dining Rooms was good, but not great. If I didn't know any better, I would be more impressed. There was no lobster, not even at Cagney's, salmon the first night and that was fabulous, but I did not catch it on the menu again. I was a little disappointed being it was an Alaskan Cruise. It seems NCL has taken money out of fine cuisine and put it into entertainment as the meals consisted of less expensive cuts of meat, fish and pasta. They were all well prepared and presentation was beautiful, but budget cuts were noticeable for an experienced cruiser. I heard the Q really stands out, but who wants to pay $25 extra for what you used to get for free? The sushi at The Food Republic is amazing and well worth it for about $8/roll. Nolan, the head chef is fantastic and ensures his customers are satisfied with his creations. The Local had Pub-Style food and a nice made-to-order omelet for breakfast with a very friendly staff. Shows and Entertainment...The Jersey Boys is a must see production, as good as a Broadway Show. Havana was very well choreographed. I had hoped to see a comedy show, but lines we long and there was standing room only. The game shows were entertaining as usual, the night life was pretty mild due to the advanced age demographic. I had a great time and feel the crew was vey friendly and courteous. The Social was open late for dancing and as a solo lady, it was an added benefit that not only one, but a male and female security guard would walk you back to your cabin upon request. I felt very safe on and off the ship at all times. Juneau...For those that like to save money, you can take the city bus to the Mendenhall Glacier for $2 instead of $45 for the express bus. It drops you off 1.5 miles away, but it is a beautiful paved trail and I saw a Momma bear and two cubs along the way (escorted by park rangers). I will be going again at least once, if not more. I need to bring my kids to show them the beauty on this side of the country, I am awe struck. Getting off the Bliss proves to be the biggest challenge. If you are in a rush to get off the boat to catch a flight, do the express walk off as early as you can. Otherwise, plan on it taking 1-2 hours to get off the boat from the time you get off the elevator. If you are traveling with anyone that may need any medical assistance or not tolerate standing in a circulating line for that period of time, get them a wheelchair assisted disembarkation. I hope they work the kinks out of disembarkation before they get to Miami for my next venture on the Bliss. Read Less

The atrium was such a fun place. Say hello to Yusof at the bar!! Beatlemania live was far the best for me. (Hello George) Jersey Boys and the Prohibition was also a fun time. Food was great. Drinks were better! Just when we were getting around better, our cruise was almost over. :( cabin was great with our large balcony. I will sail again with NCL again. Never had a dull moment. NCL should be very proud of every crew members they have on staff. If all their ships run like the Bliss anyone would be happy with their choice of cruise lines. First time with NCL, but cruised dozens of times with others. The food was terrible....everywhere! We tried the Garden Buffet several times. The food was barely warm to cool. I guess this forced us to the specialty restaurants, which were also disappointing. Considering we were on an Alaskan cruise, it was next to impossible to find fresh, hot seafood! I was told, “If you want fresh salmon, good luck.” The one entree I had was SO over cooked and dry...ughhh. The crowds, the kids running around unsupervised and the overall feeling of just being another buck to pay for this new ship was overwhelming. With the Ultimate Beverage Package, you can’t get even a small bottle of Perrier or Pelligrino, but you can have up to $15 of liquor!! The casino was NOT paying out to anyone! Spent over $6k!! We will never endure this misery again to be treated like cattle. Read Less

The new ship is beautiful, with many dining options, and gorgeous spaces. The crew is wonderful and attentive, and Dan Dan the cruise director and his group were very funny and entertaining. The food is above average in most restaurants, but the specialty restaurants should have more vegetarian options for those people who want to enjoy them with their vegetarian spouses. That being said, maybe because this was an Alaskan cruise and many outdoor spaces were not used in the evenings due to colder weather/wind, the venue spaces were really too small for the number of people onboard. They do try to schedule things in different places, but the popular activities you had to arrive WAY in advance if you had any hope of seeing or participating. The observation lounge was gorgeous, and would have been a great place to hang out, except for the people who would literally take the best seating and stay there for hours, if not all day. They would leave their stuff to get something to eat, or go to the bathroom, but otherwise monopolized the space. In the entire 7 days, we had zero opportunities to use the lounge chairs in the space except for one morning at 5:30 AM before an excursion. I am not sure how they should do it, but there needs to be a time limit on the use of these areas/and or the best seating, so others get the opportunity to utilize the space. Maybe use your room key for access, and start charging after a certain amount of time? Also the same in the hot tubs. In Spice H20, one group stayed in the hot tub for over 4 hours (we kept checking). The new Food Republic looked good, but was very expensive when there were so many other good options on board for free. we never saw anyone in there, day or night. Ocean Blue was a HUGE disappointment. The seafood selections were few, and the halibut I had was tasteless. The one TINY piece of lobster and crab on the plate was overdone and chewy. The fish was dry. Our party's scallops were inedible. The appetizers were good, but very unimaginative. For the upcharge, I expected a lot more than average to below average seafood. There definitely should have been an Alaskan King Crab option since we were in Alaska, but no crab or lobster was ever offered onboard, even at seafood night at the buffet. Plenty of shrimp, mussells, and clams, but no lobster or crab. Would not recommend Ocean Blue at all, even if the did away with the upcharge. It's just not worth it. We had better fish in the complimentary dining room. A large part of the upper deck of the ship is taken up with the go-karts, laser tag, and slides. The slides were fun. The putt-putt golf was laughable, and difficult to find. The go-karts were dangerous, as they let small children, and teenagers/preteens with no driving experience to race around at 30 mph. I met several people that had been injured by getting hit by these kids. One man had a broken tailbone, and had to be taken to a hospital in Skagway. They need to have a kids only time with much slower speeds, and allow only licensed drivers at other time. Also, the price went from $5 to $10, which is absurd, and they allowed people to book multiple time slots at once, so most spaces were taken by the time we left port. Overall, a huge amount of space was take up for pay for play sports that was unusable by many passengers. Kids were allowed to run rampant, and many younger children were in the adult pool even with the stated age limit. Also, not enough dancing/music past 10 pm. Since most of the day is taken over by kids, more nighttime activities for adults only would have been welcome. For an Alaskan cruise, which should be more sedate, I would probably choose another, more adult cruiseline. The rooms were great, as was the service and crew. With some adjustments, this could be a really great ship and experience. I gave public rooms an average rating because of the overcrowding, and the fitness and recreation a poor rating because of the cost and lack of space. Our stateroom with balcony was very clean and spacious. Our stewardess was wonderful. The cruise in a nutshell was terrible. Incredibly crowded. Specialty dining, go carts, laser tag, and spa needed a reservation.. that could not be booked until on board. Once getting to our room spa was booked up, laser tag booked. Laser tag.. addtiontal cost. Go carts the only reservation available was 1030 at night.. $10pp.. too cold to swim.. shows were not kid friendly.. lots of cussing.. if you are not a gambler, kareokeer or heavy drinker this cruise is not for you. The activities on board included napkin folding and towel folding classes... let that sink in... $10,000 cruise with additional $400+ just for entertainment. $6 a game to bowl $2-$3 for arcade games. Juneau and Victoria were the only ports worth seeing. In Juneau we did a float plane and it was amazing. Burchart gardens in Victoria are stunning. This was my 2nd NCL cruise and my 6th cruise overall. Embarkation went relatively smoothly. Took about 25 minutes from curb to ship. My wife and I had a standard interior cabin. It was extremely functional but did lack storage space. There were absolutely no dresser/cabinet drawers for clothes storage, just one modest sized closet so my wife lived out of her suitcase. Make sure you don’t bring a jumbo suitcase that doesn’t fit under the bed, otherwise your space will decrease even more. There are two usb chargers by the bed that are convenient for charging phones/kindles/etc. Also included are the safe, phone and tv which were all functionally easy to navigate. The bathroom, unlike the bedroom, seemed to have a slightly better than average size feel with a glass shower that seemed slightly bigger than other showers I have had on cruises. For two people there was plenty of room for our toiletries. Due to our specialty dining package we were able to eat at most of the restaurants on the ship: Complimentary restaurants of Taste, Savor and Manhattan room are the Main Dining Rooms (MDRs) and are all similar in service and menus, just a little different ambiance. I found the service on par with what I have come to expect from NCL, friendly and professional but not overtly warm like other cruise lines. Unlike with a standard dining time, you end up getting different wait staff unless you specifically request someone. The freestyle dining is extremely convenient for two people but when you dine with more than 4 people I’d advise making reservations if you plan on eating during peak dinner times otherwise you could wait for 20-30 minutes for a table to open. The food at the MDRs was hit or miss, some great tasting options, some just ok and some blah. This isn’t a problem though because if you do not like a specific dish, you can always order a second option which the staff is happy to bring you. The Local is the 24 hour complimentary restaurant that serves pub style food. The food is ok and the menu is limited but serviceable. Service is again professional and friendly. The Garden Cafe (buffet) had plenty of food options but I didn’t find anything at the buffet that was spectacular. My favorite part of the buffet was the fact that they had multiple egg/omelet stations that would cook your eggs to order. The buffet crowds could be overwhelming during peak food times and made it difficult at times to find a seat. If you get desperate you can ask staff and they will assist you in finding a place (we needed to do this once). Observation lounge also had a mini buffet which was usable for snacks. We were also able to try Le Bistro, Cagneys, and La Cucina as part of the dining package. You MUST make reservations before you set sail or immediately upon arrival at the ship or you will probably get locked out. Food quality in the specialty restaurants on NCL never disappoints. It also shows that you need to pay for quality when you can taste the difference in the tiramisu from La Cucina compared to the MDRs. A few critiques for the specialty restaurants compared to my other NCL experience 2 years ago on the Escape. Service was not even close to as good. At Le Bistro the waitress actually pushed for extra gratuity (which I always give but didn’t appreciate it being forced). At Cagneys the person in charge with wine disappeared on us twice to the point I had to ask for him to be hunted down. I think one time that he disappeared it was due to the fact that he personally had to find glasses to serve dessert wine so it wasn’t necessarily his fault, but whatever the reason, they were uncommonly large wait times. Finally in La Cucina our server did actually disappear to the point I had to ask for help from someone else regarding closing out the check and storing the purchased wine during dinner. To summarize, food quality 5 out of 5, service 2 out of 5. Maybe we just had an off week with the staff. We also tried Cocos. Espressos and desserts were both good and the servers were extremely warm and friendly. Although not an extremely busy place, if you want a quality dessert or espresso it is worth the experience. Entertainment and Activities I find NCL does a fantastic job with quality but there can be a problem due to crowds. If you don’t make reservations when you first get on the ship (or before) you will miss out on a lot. We didn’t get to experience the racetrack or laser tag as they were booked solid after day 2. The two shows (again make reservations) of Havana and Jersey Boys were fantastic quality, just a little below broadway quality. The Beatles show I enjoyed and thought they did the band justice. When they play at the Cavern Club, get their 30 minutes early otherwise you will not get a seat. One person in our group has special needs and went to a bunch of the ship activities (trivia, dance parties, game shows) and the crew was fantastic for them. The person always felt welcomed and involved. It was a pleasure to see the person so happy. The crew and cruise director were amazing. Although this was an Alaskan Cruise I must say during Caribbean cruises this ship will have the same problem as the Escape with deck space/pool space. With the Haven taking up a good piece of the ship, the rest of the pool deck will be overwhelmed on Caribbean sea days. I highly suggest if you find crowds and noise to be a problem to purchase a thermal suite pass. Observation Lounge I must say was a fantastic outside the box idea that works. Bliss takes up prime cabin space to dedicate a huge area of the 15th floor to an observation lounge with food and drinks served. People play cards and board games, listen to live music, read books and fall asleep in this relaxing public area. It was always in use. Thermal suite! My favorite part about NCL. For $200 a person pre cruise you can purchase a week pass at the thermal suite. It gives you access to a quiet area with floor to ceiling windows across the back of the ship, your own hot tub, your own heated pool, cushioned and heated chairs, sauna, steam room, salt room, cold room, etc. It makes my cruise. As for the Casino, NCL finally solved the problem plaguing all cruise ships, the smoke emanating into the public areas. On the Bliss the smoking section is completely sealed off in its own room and even walking by the room itself the smell of smoke is minimal. Fantastic job. Truthfully the only area with a smell problem to public walking areas is in 6,7,8 by the restaurant Ocean Blue which for some reason doesn’t have a solid wall so the whole area smells like fish. Ports - Alaskan Cruise was definitely unique with their ports and what you experience. Also you must have more clothes for this cruise then almost any other because of the different environments. You need shorts and short sleeves in Seattle, bathing suits if you want to try the pool or have a thermal suite pass, pants and short sleeve depending on the weather, long sleeve shirts and jackets for some areas in Alaska. Just something to keep in mind. You will get wet in Ketchikan as it will always rain but it was not a heavy rain for us. More of a misty rain. We only did the lumberjack show which was fun. That said any excursion I heard was quality, just can be pricey. Juneau was my favorite port on the trip. So many bald eagles on the trip from town to Mendenhall glacier. The glacier was pretty cool to see but the star of the trip was the waterfall which you can practically walk up to and almost touch (1-2 mile hike). The waterfall makes you feel how powerful Mother Nature can be. If you feel up to it, you can pay to be flown on top of the glacier. Everyone who did raved about the experience. In Skagway we did the train excursion. It was an amazing experience to take a train from sea level to 3000 feet in the air to the summit. In July it was cold at the summit and it was pretty amazing to see the walking path miners took to the summit and picture how they survived. Victoria was a pretty town. Ship gets there late (4 PM) so although the souvenir shops are open, not everything stays open for the cruise tourists. It is worth taking a walk around or going to the gardens. To summarize my experience, I found the room small but serviceable, food quality ok to great but food service below average at the specialty restaurants, and entertainment great but you need to make reservations otherwise you will lose out on experiences. We just returned from our cruise on the Bliss for my parents 50th wedding anniversary. This trip had been planned for almost a year and all of us were looking forward to the cruise but were getting nervous after reading numerous reviews before going. We had 7 adults and 4 children with us (ages 6-10). The boarding process went very smooth I think we were on the ship within less than 30 minutes, but once we boarded that's when the chaos started. Once on the ship we went straight to reservations for the go carts and the lazer tag, four of us were in different lines trying to make reservations. This took about an hour and half to get tot the front just to be told that everything was booked. We did actually get reservations for both by complaining throughout the cruise but both attractions weren't even really worth it. But, if you or your kids really want to take advantage of the go carts my sister heard someone talking about a week long unlimited pass for $99, not sure it you would just wait standby to use the pass. I felt like you could probably just wait by the line whenever you want and get on. If you like the idea of waterslides think again. The slides are only open a few hours of the day and they only have two of them. One of the slides is a drop slide that they won't even let you go on unless you are over 100lb, which left our kids to only be able to use the one slide. The hours of the slide are a joke, I think it was open from 11:30 - 2;30 and again for another hour or so. It was hard to see them close the slide on a beautiful day with nothing else to really do on the ship. If you are taking kids I would really think twice there is very little for kids to do on this ship. They do have an arcade but the games are anywhere from $2 - $5 each. This ship is constantly trying to nickel and dime you for everything. As for the food it was pretty lousy even the bigger restaurants. We did go to the Manhattan Room, Savor, and Taste and they all have the same menu, I guess they just try to make them look different. The buffet is not very good just okay. We finally broke down and went to the steak house on the last night and they told us they were full but would squeeze us in, the place was empty. The food was okay nothing crazy, but not worth the $300 we had to spend. LIke I said earlier there really isn't a lot to do on the ship. The highlight of the trip was the "Jersey Boys" show, Havannah wasn't very good. But really, only two shows for a seven night cruise! Also, the drinks were excellent! I highly recommend the drink package, pretty much all we did was drink since there wasn't much else to do. And yes the elevators are horrible, stick to the stairs. I hope this helps some of you guys I could write all night about this cruise but I'm tired. And just remember this cruise is a good chunk of change for most of us that is why I took the time to right this, there are many other ships out there with a lot more to do than the Bliss. The Germans built one heck of a boat! I noticed the fit and finish along with quality of fixtures immediately. My 99' solo cabin was a work of art! Loved it, especially the Port TV monitor and the bridge cam on regular TV gives you a great live view all the time. I found many places on board where I was the only one there. The Cavern club outside bar had about 10 seats, I rarely saw more than a couple of people there. Waterfront walkway had tons of great seating looking out to sea. Never crowded. The Hot Tubs would have been nice, but I'm not a fan of taking intimate baths with total strangers...... Music was sort of hit or miss. I thought the Beatles should have lip synced......my $100 bluetooth speaker had more punch then their live band! Jersey Boys was OK, sort of rambling with a lot of really useless lines. Havana had some nice looking people, but again so so music. Wasn't expecting top of the line Vegas shows and the price was right, free! Crowding and lack of access to specialty restaurants - I had no problem getting in Cagney's, Le Bistro and Luciano. The key is flexible time choice. I opted for 8:30 and 9:00 and was wisked right in for pretty good food. I even just dropped by Teppanaki and had no problem getting a table seat in prime time. One of the best places was Food Republic. Great sushi and innovative other small dishes. It was A La Carte but averaged $22/meal and none for alcohol since I had the beverage card. Never crowded at any time I went which was varied. I took the Helicopter tour to the Mead Glacier in Skagway. I booked Temsco Helicopters directly and saved $50 plus got to pick a reasonable time. Since we didn't get to see the glaciers from the ship that was a good choice. I was on the bow in the drizzle with probably 150 others when they tried to go up the channel but turned back. They had deployed a small jet boat with a guy who was pushing mini icebergs out of the way with a pole but still no go. I did meet one of the staff captains in a hallway and he gave me a private tour of the bridge. Really interesting and impressive to this South Florida Boat captain. He mentioned they can't risk dinging the props on the Azimuth POD drives. In summary I'll probably do a smaller ship although the solo cabins are compelling. Even if you have several people they have some with connecting doors that gives you great space and privacy plus more bathroom. I could see the crowding would be a lot worse in the Caribbean in hot weather. Pools aren't that big, deck space/chairs not that adequate if everybody wanted to be outside. All in all good value for the money and a really interesting sea passage to Alaska. Read Less

We booked our cruise one year ahead. We were so excited to cruise on the Bliss. Upon boarding we tried to book reservations for go karts and laser tag... Totally booked up. Evening shows were booked and only stand by was available. This was the first day! Everything had an extra charge, my 11 year old had over $300 charged for Arcade play before they locked her card. The buffet food was delicious, but there were not enough tables and people had to hover over other guests, to get a place. Guests were irritated and often somewhat rude. The bars and staff were awesome, the balcony room was very nicely furnished and comfortable. Our steward was very polite, calling each of us by name from day one. Almost every elevator ride had a wait and people continued to load until it was uncomfortable. If I were rating the beauty and luxury of the ship and the courteous, professional staff it would be a 5+ star rating. Unfortunately, with the overcrowding and even a 40 minute wait for an elevator, it drops the score to 3. So disappointed, we will cruise NCL again, but on the Pearl or Jewel, not another monster ship which equates to a floating city of 5000 people. Read Less

New ship, Breakaway class, Alaska. Inside Passage. Stunning scenery. There was no dancing floor in Manhattan Room although we were told repeated when we called that there will be. Throughout the ship, the little floor they had at night clubs were often covered by tables. The atrium was the last place left and unfit for packing in over 100 dancers. We were most disappointed because we sailed three times on the Breakaway and once on the Escape, both with Manhattan Room for dinner dancing. Food, identical menu to other NCL ships, but clearly better prepared or better delivered. A very pleasant surprise. Having chowder on observation deck most of the time was a great improvement. The observation deck was designed as numerous connected living rooms. This is a great feature for privacy and access to view. Service in general was great. room was clean and quiet but small. Shower was adequate and enjoyable. We did not get to see the glacier because of ice problems on the water inlet. Weather was in the 80F and sunny week. People the week before, rainy and colder, had no ice problem. Did see six humpback whales on whale watching. Best photos from smaller boats. Having the Garden Cafe now in the front of the ship is super confusing for us. However, it makes it possible to bring food down from it to the observation room easily. Seating hard to come by often in the Garden Cafe. Diners there often aggressive because of this. Bliss and Escape each added a floor of rooms without adding service support capacity, hence both led to overcrowding. Cannot recommend these ships! Read Less

This was my husband and I first cruise and we are so happy that we chose this brand new ship Norwegian Bliss. This ship is absolutely beautiful. There were so many activities and entertainment to choose from (comedy show, musical shows like Jersey Boys and Havana, dancing st the nightclub) we were never bored. There are also a variety of dining options from eating at the Buffet or dining at their specialty restaurants you will definitely be satisfied. We chose a cabin with a balcony so that we could just sit outside and relax and also enjoy the view. Our cabin was always clean (thanks to our cabin steward). The service provided by the staff of NCL were excellent, not one employee we encountered was rude, they were always kind and helpful. We stopped at several ports to explore the towns and the disembarkation and embarkation went smoothly. Overall we had an amazing time and we would definitely book a cruise with NCL in the near future. Read Less

We wanted to do the Alaska cruise to see the sights. The ship and staff was great, and we wanted for nothing. The bar staff made great drinks, except for Maltings Whiskey Bar, which for some reason kept making my Crown and diet wrong. After two like that, I just went to other bars without any problems. Maybe it was a language thing, or maybe the gal bartender just didn't listen. Our balcony cabin was nice, though it seemed a bit smaller than the balcony cabin we had on a freedom class vessel with Royal Caribbean. The buffet was good and consistent but not over the top. The specialty dining we did was great however. We did Q's, Ocean Blue, and Cagneys. Our party of seven had only one gripe regarding our dining. The house coffee was dreadful! We all laughed about it each morning, and drank juice with breakfast, then rode the elevator down to deck six to Starbucks for a decent coffee. Really, Norwegian, you surely can do better with another coffee supplier! The entertainment onboard was great. My wife and I had seen Jersey Boys in Las Vegas years ago (great show there) and the cast on the Bliss was on par with Vegas. We enjoyed the Beatles show on the last day too. The theater on board was very nice! The various entertainers in the bars, atrium, etc. were all pretty good. The service staff was very good throughout. Our itinerary was good with plenty of activity choices. We wished we would have had more time in Victoria however, as it is one of our favorite vacation places. Read Less

After having taken numerous cruises on another cruise line, all with favorable reviews, I found NCL exceptional, exceeding prior positive vacations. The Bliss ship was exceptional, and the crew could have not been more friendly or helpful. "Hello", "how are you doing today" and "can I assist you in any way" was the first line of all crew members. The food was exceptional, as we choose not to pre-pay for meals at the specialty restaurants, thinking we would try them if the food in the cruise restaurants was not good. That however never occurred. We tried all of the restaurants on the ship, and were never left without a favorable review of the service and the food. We would have liked a little more as to options for activities during the sailing only days, as this was not a Caribbean cruise where sitting in the sun on deck is the main activity. Finally, the excursions and options as to type of excursions were great, and appealable to all of my family members (14 to 50) Overall, the cruise was outstanding. Crew, food, excursions, and the location of the cruise are highly recommended. Read Less

This was a bucket list check- off, fantasy vacation for our family.We had a group of 8 people. 6 adults and 2 children. We started our journey from Florida, which is a 3 hour time difference. We stayed at Seattle Marriott Bellevue hotel, which I booked through hotwire for 135 per night. The hotel was located in the Bellevue city district. I feel the hotel would be better suited for business meetings. We were all hungry when we arrived and decided to eat at the hotel restaurant. The waitstaff was kind, but the food was overpriced and not great. When we awoke in the morning we anticipated a continental breakfast, they did not offer one. Bellevue was a very clean and beautiful city, but expensive. The hotel did not offer a shuttle to the airport or the dock. We took an uber ride to the dock, our driver was very nice and told us a lot about the city and living in Washington. We arrived at the pier around 0800. We were able to check our bags at that time, but we could not check-in until 1000. I liked that we didn't have to drag our suitcases around until check-in. We dined at a small coffee shop on the corner of the street across from the ship that offered Korean inspired breakfast dishes. It was good and the only restaurant I saw open close enough to walk with a 5 and 8 year old. We walked around the pier and looked at the ship from the outside. We were able to get some great pictures in front of the artwork of the Bliss. When we were getting ready to embark an elderly woman tripped and fell face down on the cement while on her way to check her bag. Norwegian staff was quick to help her and a medic came to address her needs. Embarkation went smoothly. We are all balcony rooms and still got in at around 1030. We explored the decks. 6,7,8 are the main ones for activities. On all the walls are screens for ordering or directions, and in the bottom right hand corner of the screen also has the time, which is important because clocks are scarce. This was also helpful, as the time zones changed twice while we aboard the ship. We ordered a game of laser tag. Later in our room we ordered race track for my husband and grandson. They had a double go kart ride for kids and adults from 5-6. I ordered the specialty dining, spa and shows before the cruise. The Garden cafe had a good mix of food choices. Indian, Asian, American, seafood, etc... unique desserts were included with each dining time in the Garden Cafe. We got to our cabin around 1330. Our luggage didn't arrive until around 1800. The cabin had the bathroom to the right, couch, and then bed by the sliding glass door. The bathroom had one sink and a glass shower stall. We had plenty of room to move. My husband is 6'2" and I'm 5'3". I put my clothes in the drawer under the couch and hung dresses in the closet. There is room underneath the bed to slide the suitcases. My husband lived out of his suitcase and closet. The other drawer had pillows and blanket for the couch. Our room was clean and comfortable. Our room steward was excellent. We ate dinner at Teppanyaki. Good show and large portions of Japanese food. They take a photo while you are eating and have it ready at the end of service. We checked out the observation lounge. Nice, large viewing windows, lounge chairs and seating throughout the area. A small buffet is offered. Soup sandwiches, some desserts and drinks. The ship is crowded, but there are places to be alone. The second day at sea we used the spa. My husband would workout and use the spa. I loved the relaxation pool with the jets. I liked the heated tile loungers too.I did some of the organized classes when I could. I would get sweets at the bake shop from time to time. The grand kids went to the kids club and loved it. The morning time for kids club is free play time, but each evening there was a different theme. They had a pajama party, superheros, pirates, and jungle circus practice for the big performance. They also had a white themed dance party for the kids, they could wear all white or florescent and glow under the black lights. The circus performance for the kids took place in the main theater and was the highlight of their time. My grandchildren were a tiger (five years) and a plate spinner (eight years). We had a cruise critic meet and mingle in the District brew house at noon. NCL provided champagne, mimosas, snacks of spring rolls, chicken, puff pastries with assorted toppings. The cruise director Silas Cook and other officers met us. They provided entertainment and a good time. After the meeting we did a slot pull at 1400. It was fun! 14 of us put money in one slot machine and took turns playing it. Kristie was the most lucky and we were able to break even. We had dinner at the Manhattan room, there isn't dancing in this one. Good food and great service. I saw Havana, it was interesting. The actors and dancers were good and professional, but the script seemed off and pieced together oddly. It was difficult to follow. On the 3rd day we arrived in Ketchican. We went off the ship two hours before our excursion and had a chance to explore the city. The town shops were quaint and had the best prices of all the excursion stops. We did the canoe ride and rain forest in Ketchikan. The views were spectacular. We got a history of the area and were able to enjoy a relaxed canoe ride. We stopped at a small cooking hut and enjoyed a wonderful lunch of home made jam with bread, salmon spread on bread, and a delicious clam chowder. They even gave us coffee and hot chocolate, all cooked over an open fire. Our guide took us on a nature walk through the Ketchikan rain forest where we learned about the native plants and their medicinal properties. On the way back we all had a blast racing the other canoe, and experienced some of Ketchikan's famous rainy weather as we docked. The grand kids had a ball paddling.We did laser tag that evening when we returned. It was a workout and fun. You could recharge if someone killed you to play some more. We ate at Le Bistro. Good food, but small portions, good service. We snacked at the garden cafe too. On the 4th day, we did whale watching through Juneau Whale Watch. It was my husbands favorite excursion. Our naturalist and ship captain were Alaska natives and offered us interesting facts about the area and were very knowledgeable about the whales and the glaciers. We saw four whales, sea lions, pilot dolphins, and bald eagles. Just the views were worth the trip. It was truly breathtaking and the boat ride was exhilarating. We cruised the glacier that night and ate at the Manhattan. On our 5th day, Skagway, Alaska, we did Mushers camp. It was a 1/2 hour ride in a bus and then 1/2 in a jeep to get to the dog carts. The ride was short. One loop around the camp. Then we had a talk on the races that happened. A short time to play with the dogs and pups. The guides were great and informative. The mushers were all professional racers and had participated in either the Jr. Iditarod or the actual race and the dogs were also professional racers. We wished we could have had more time to interact with the dogs and puppies. Then back on the jeep to the bus. That night we ate at Cagney's. My son got the Porterhouse and ate it all. It is a huge steak! Nice dinner and service. 6th day, more spa, arcade room, casino, and eating. We ate at the Local sometimes for lunch and had the chicken wings, and sandwiches. At noon, there was a past guess party at the District brew house. They gave us different beers and finger foods. It was a nice selection and the staff came and spoke to us from the different departments of the ship. I saw the "Beatles", fun show and good singing. Dinner was at the Manhattan. Food at the Manhattan room was always good and there was a good selection. We saw the Jersey boys. Excellent show! Good story line and singing. 7th day, Victoria we didn't book anything and walked to the pier, nice playground and food shops around pier. Good music and acts throughout the ship. I saw Camille Rae sing, she was good. Jim Badger was good. Tatiana was good. Duo Rika was good. The guy sang Elvis great, but had an accent when speaking. My family said they liked the comedy show. They had movies in the Atrium and game shows there. We would get yummy snacks in our room from the hotel director Mark Maeling and Jovo Sekulovic. We would get invites to various things happening aboard the ship. Something for everyone. We had a Seattle excursion on disembarkation day. They had us check our luggage the night before and we went to the theater the day of at 0800. We went through customs and the luggage was separate waiting for us on the other side of the custom building. The bus for the tour was the next stop. Disembarkation went smoothly. The Seattle tour took us to the Space Needle. We all had to pee waiting in line to go up and there are no bathrooms until you get to the top, so go before you go up! We were a bit disappointed that the space needle seemed to be under construction, but the views were still spectacular. Next stop was Pike Place market. This was a fun touristy stop, but it was so crowded and crazy that it was hard to take it all in. We did get some really fun souvenirs to take back with us. The tour guide was funny and informative. We were dropped off at the airport from the Seattle Tour. We were in staterooms 11210, 11214, 11222. Somethings that could be improved are the times in port and NCL's texting app. I would like to go again. Best cruise ever! Read Less

The professional and friendly staff aboard the Norwegian Bliss made my wife and I feel like we were totally welcome. The staff did everything with smiles and I truly believe they enjoy their jobs. Always greeted by my name and always ready to give an ear to my stories. This is the definition of service at its best! The shows were very entertaining and never to many people.Dining on board can be anything and anywhere with so many choices, it never gets old. Shore excursions were totally awesome and adventurous as well! My wife and I set sail with other couples and we all loved it so much that we signed up for another cruise before we left the ship. We cannot put into words the excellent way we were treated and how spoiled we felt. We will miss the staff that took so good care of us all. I chose this ship because I sailed on the Pearl and Jewel. They were pretty nice ships and had a lot of great activities to do. Unfortunately, the Bliss is too big. 4,000+ people with about 1500 staff. All the shows were booked before I got on the ship, nearly all the specialty dining was booked before we got on the ship, the elevators were constantly packed, the buffet constantly packed, the staff were overworked, over exhausted and probably underpaid.... They charge for EVERYTHING!! It didn't matter if you had the dining package....Ocean Blue added an additional $18 per person to eat there and the food was raw!! Disgusting. I truly had the worst experience every on this ship. Shore excursions were amazing of course because Alaska is amazing, but choose another ship to enjoy this Alaskan adventure unless you like crowds and lots of pushy people making their way to all parts of the ship. Oh, and if you decide to try out the fitness room just to kind of get a little exercise, be prepared to be belittled while you are there by the fitness guru who knows it all. Read Less

This is by far a revenue- money maker cruise for NCL and not about the best possible “Guest” experience. With over 4000 cruises NCL “missed the boat” when it comes to “ public” venues...with over 4000 Guests and plenty of cabins they did NOT have public spaces large enough to accommodate a group of this size and everything needed a reservation but was sold out within hours of boarding and up charges for everything?!! NCL has lost their ability to offer “freestyle” cruising but has enhanced their ability to pack people on a ship causing overcrowding but for sure this ship has become a money maker for them! Their Management team had the worst attitude and rude and did not aim to please from Cruise Director to Hotel Director to Group Leaders to Staff...so many rigid rules that benefited NCL but NOT the Guests! Safety issues for sure! On a positive note- food was great but service was slow and Jersey Boys Show was excellent while Havana Show put me to sleep! I loved the single Studio cabin! I have cruised with NCL over 12 times and have been pleased with other ships but I do NOT recommend the Bliss. The PORT of departure experience was the worst ever...no bays for buses and nothing but traffic jams trying to board/disembark from the city streets of Seattle-hard to believe NCL did not have a better plan for a ship with so many passengers?! Best part of this cruise was viewing the beauty of Alaska but that can be done on any ship with any cruiseline NCL needs to step up to compete with other cruiselines for the best “Alaskan” experience! Used the ships porter system, NCL gives you boarding passes, and airline tags, leave bags outside room before midnight, you do not retrieve in hanger, bags get taken to airport by cruise and checked into your airline. I received 1 bag, 2nd bag never got checked into airline. Hopeful 2nd bag will show up. Will never use this system again. The ship is great, service wonderful. Front desk for service is understaffed, very slow!! Food excellent, bartender's very attentive. The spa would not let you buy a day pass for back wet area, and soak very high pressure to purchase their products, more than usual.NCL charging extra for everything. Laser tag, and go carts are an uncharged. They will only take dinner reservations up to 25%capacity ahead of cruise, so you have to call as soon as you get on ship to restaurants for reservations. Which I did not get most. I have always loved NCL, but not the same. Read Less
